[Q] Information on network for motorola atrix - Atrix 4G General

Please help me. I have a motorola atrix 4g. Unlocked. Rooted. Running on t-mobile network. I have 3g contract but all i am getting is edge (which is fricking slow). I know it possible for you to be able to change atrix automatic custom network (which is at&t) to work with t-mobile. Youtube doesn't help cause all i see is bell, sprint and metro pcs. I know it something with the radio. But i need your help thanks.

Do you have any friends who have tmo that you can ask their apn settings? That's my suggestion.

did you know atrix has a triple band 3g and it does NOT have the tmobile 3g/hspa band. so nothing will work

This is true. Carrier radio frequencies do differ in the USA. Wifi is the only high speed you'll get in the USA if you are not on at&t using the at&t Atrix.

Im so angry. But hope something comes up

If you're not locked into a t-mobile contract I suggest going to straight talk, they have a SIM for AT&T version phones and that should get you 3g. Or go for h20 wireless which should get you full 4g speed.

Lol, despite its name Atrix 4G does not have 4G... You need a carrier working on one or two of 850/1900/2100 3g frequencies.

i'd still consider HSPA plus more 4g than Sprint's so called 4g and that wimax thing the original evo has
and I'd consider verizon's 3G more like 2g hahaha

Man im disappointed u should have never brought this phone cuz a friend said I can hack the Motorola custom radio which was at&t to T-Mobile. But he was wrong.

Att 4g or 3g

Is there anyway to run the mytouch 4g on att without it only being on edge network?
Sent from my Inspire 4G using XDA App
Pretty sure thats a no since the radios are built for different frequencies.
Unfortunately no, the radio in the Mytouch 4G only supports At&t's Edge Network.
probably not
iphone supports only EDGE on t-mobile network, so I assume the hardware designed for phones are only available to the network they were originally made for
if you want to run a MT4G on att go buy a desire HD. same unit but the radio's work on ATTs 3g network. thats basically the only way.

thats pretty much true there unless the phone is running quadband HSDPA. which is very rare nowadays. tmobile just kinda sucks cause they are running a rare HSDPA band while ATT runs a more mainstream. i buy phones from taiwan (HTC headquarters) for my family to use on ATT and their 3G is flawless.

Could you elaborate more on the Taiwan connection? I'm using this device now but would rather go back to the mt4g. Yet considering the match level of chess these companies are playing I need a Bobby Fischer type of device, of which seems to not be available in the YouEss

It's quite simple. all the phones from Taiwan use the same 3g signal as att here for their smartphones. So you can buy phones from there and they will work perfectly fine on att networks here.

StraightTalk and multi-band GSM: do they "mix"?

If I get an AT&T compatable StraightTalk SIM does it also pull from T-Mobile's towers for voice (but not 3g ofc)?
In other words, is the difference between the two SIMs (ATT/TMO) only for HSPA coverage, or HSPA and GSM?
Planning on getting my mom an Infuse 4G but I want to make sure that she'll be getting as best voice coverage as possible.
If you get her a Infuse, just get the at&t sim card from straight talk and everything will function just as if it were running on at&t

Well ATT coverage is great in our home area so I'll just stick to that. Thanks guys.
I was hoping that if an ATT sim was used and no ATT voice coverage was available it would try to roam to a TMO straighttalk service.
Get two SIMs and use Google Voice.

HSPA+ on GT-N7000. T-Mobile refarming?

It may be a miracle. I was using the International Samsung Galaxy Note and was only receiving edge on T-Mobile. I learned why this was and hoped it would change. About three nights ago exactly I was trying to use my data which was edge which did not work at all. I was not sure why. Then the following night I was at a dinner party in Cougar Mountain Drive which is in the Bellevue area. All of a sudden I turned on my data and guess what I saw. A big H+ staring me back in the face. I was so overjoyed I could not even begin to explain. But alas, I could not longer see the H+ when I returned home in the Seattle Area. Is T-Mobile finally refarming? We can all hope can't we? What do you guys think?
Probably Tmo rolling out 4G in select areas.
You can always apply the Tmo radio to get 4G

That's awesome advice....not. Are you trying to get him to brick his phone?
This is an N7000.
T-Mobile has been working on standing up the 1900 frequency, which is the same band AT&T uses, and the band included in all international phones. They have been using AWS which is the 1700 band. This is why all new-ish T-mobile phones are pentaband. You must have been in an area that they already converted over. It is supposed to be complete sometime in 2013.
I have a similar story. While visiting in Concord, CA. Downtown where the Old Spaghetti Factory is: I was able to get HSPA+ on my Infuse i997. Looking forward to the refarm taking place all over the usual spots.

I understand that T-mobile has re-farmed 1900 MHz for 3G service in the Boston, MA area.
Is this service available to T-Mobile pre-paid PAYG customers? On the $3/day plan?
Is there any requirement for a GBA SIM? Or any newer SIM?
Are there any specialized APN settings?
Any specialized phone settings? "Force" WCDMA 1900 MHz only from the Service Menu?
I have an international un-locked Samsung Galaxy S II (I9100), and a 7 year old T-Mobile pre-paid SIM.
I have been able to use GSM data (2G: GPRS/EDGE) as recently as July, 2012.
My visits are brief so I use the $2/day plan but would like to be able to use 3G.
current reports,
no specific deals with TMO regarding network sharing,
i'd doubt AT&T will lend the networks without a fair price

PS Anybody knows the programming menu code for HTC ONE ?
The developer version is a gsm device and Verizon operates a CDMA network. They are incompatible and the phone will not work.

Its not a troll, I'm not so smart in this type of technology. In my mind it was very simple WCDMA is Docomo, which goes way ahead of regular CDMA, and Qualcomm made an support from WCDMA to CDMA2000, thats why I cant understand why Verizon CDMA don't want to support it.

Testing Maxx on Tmobile/MetroPcs

Currently thinking of leaving Verizon. I decided to give T-Mobile/metropcs a try... I can honestly say that I will be leaving sooner than later. Even though I can't access their LTE network their h+ 42.2 network is plenty fast... And at only $40 unlimited everything I don't think I can pass this deal up.
Anyone else out there on another carrier besides Verizon? What plan and how much does it cost... Verizon is killing my pockets... since my wife stopped working to stay home with the kids, looking for ways to save on every bill...

Yeah, I'm in the same boat - no T-Mobile LTE, but do get HSPA+. I'm on the prepaid $30 100min/Unlimited Text+Data for T-Mobile. Unfortunately T-Mo coverage here is only decent along major roads, and the H+ speeds are not very consistent block-to-block. I'm probably going to just cancel the prepaid service since I only get Edge at my desk at work, which doesn't help me conserve data usage on my Verizon device, which was my intention.
My H+ speeds have ranged from about 400kbps all the way to 12mbps... potentially faster than my Verizon speeds on LTE. Just upsetting that the service is still too spotty to use it as my primary carrier.
I am here in ga and it is pretty good... Not Verizon good but good none the less... I just don't know what am going to do when I leave Verizon. Their service is top notch...

Well like you said, sometimes you have to make sacrifices. Do you have unlimited on Verizon? How much data do you need? I know that T-Mobile will give you unlimited but I'm thinking that if you don't need unlimited, you could switch to T-Mobile for now and then switch back to Verizon later on when finances are a bit more stable.
As long as T-Mobile serves your immediate needs, then it should be fine.
Yeah don't need unlimited. Its just a means to help get the bills lower. I just hate to give up Verizon. If I want to upgrade I will be forced to pay full price. But I also wanted the nexus 5 so I give it's a win win

I had trouble dropping my Sprint SERO line, but hopping on someone's Share Everything plan on Verizon was really the cheaper way to go. I liked only paying $50 for unlimited LTE, but it was just an extra bill that wasn't necessary (as I was on both Sprint and Verizon at that point).

The Maxx doesn't support 1700/2100Mhz does it? Eg you only get HSPA+ if you live in an area Tmobile has refarmed? (Unfortunately Tmobile doesn't own enough spectrum where I live to refarm any of their 1900Mhz spectrum, still a 21Mbps HSPA area too since Tmobile doesn't own enough to make 42Mbps work - central TN).

I believe it does have a 1700/2100 bands supported (per GSM Arena), and I do not think I'm in a re-farmed 1900 area. I had a T-Mobile SIM in a Sprint HTC One, DNA, and Lumia 822 and none were pulling in H+, just Edge or 3G.

The Maxx will not pick up 1700/2100 areas. Only the refarmed 1900. However it does support lte band 4 which will probably have its switch thrown later when vzw starts using their aws spectrum. It's not active now as far as I can tell because I can't get any better than H+ in Chicago which is entirely refarmed tmo and att doesn't trigger it either. My inkling is that vzw has that part of the radio turned off at the moment until they launch that portion of the network.
Image attached shows what the phone does support with the VZW radios.

Just because the chip supports it doesn't mean that it's active or usable. Look at the nexus and its lte if you need an example. My post above yours show what moto intends to allow for this device. It "could" support more but the bands aren't active.
What I'm curious about is if we can get this ***** unlocked... Can we pull the radio files from the Tmobile X to unlock the 1700/2100 and AWS LTE bands (which the phone does support but again, are inactive at the moment). We would lose the cdma bands but for the people switching to tmo... I don't think they'd care.
