I am disappointed. 4.3" the biggest screen???? Don't like the look of them. 8X too much bezel top and bottom. Look stretched/wasted

I'm going to say HTC has fumbled!!!!!
I think the design is just not up to Nokia's and may even be close to rip off, rather then inspiration.
Ok they added beats audio, but they had that with Android already, so in truth nothing new, nothing ground breaking.
By the way I am an HTC fan, but they just lost me to Nokia after this launch !!!!!
My HTC History.....HTC Typhoon ( Audiovox SMT5600), HTC HD2, HTC Radar
My next phone will be Nokia.

Both of these devices look nice, but so far no word if either will have removeable SD cards. Need more info before I make up mind. Currently rocking a HD7 and my contract finished last Saturday so i'm ready for a new phone. I'm with Tmo and they are supposed to get at least one of these (with my luck it'll be the 8S) so there are a bunch of questions before I decide which I will get. So far I'd jump ship from Tmo to get the Nokia 920 or the 8X, hopefully, I won't have to.
Edit: Just heard from MaryJoeFoley: Removeable SD on the 8S

While 4.3 isn't a bad size, I was hoping for something a little bigger. I am kinda disappointed, but it at least looks like HTC tried to bring their A-game to the Windows Phone 8 table. That just means its a decision between the 8X and the Lumia 920 for me, and I'm leaning far toward the Lumia.
I'm really going to have to see the 920 and the 8X before I really make my decision. Super LCD 2 is absolutely beautiful, but then again so might be Nokia's display tech. Nokia's got more storage, a potentially awesome camera, wireless charging, bigger screen. HTC has got Super LCD 2, Beats Audio, and a potentially great camera.
Choices choices. Really, I'll probably just get one of each. -_-'

Looks okay. But who the hell needs these colors??? This won't attract many customers. Designers and their minds...

When you're lost for ideas, it's a bad idea to launch a half baked, thrown together one from another company. Sack HTC's head of design and get fresh blood in there for real innovative designs.
If I decide to try W8 it will be with the Lumia 920.

Did you not read the spec in the first post? Both support microSD cards.

Interesting....very interesting.
I like smaller screen phones
the 8 S is pretty close to what I need.
EDIT: i'd rather not look at CPU and RAM. I know windows phone is pretty capable and optimized OS. A dual core is pretty solid even at 1Ghz and 512 RAM is enough, considering the OS manages memory pretty damn nice.
4Gb internal storage is more than enough for apps and games, as the SD card can handle the rest.

No SD card, no access to battery. Sealed uni body design.

The OS supports SD storage. Microsoft said that when the first launched WP8.
HTC did not build in an SD card slot. The battery is below the board, so the body is sealed.
Only thing that opens is your Micro Sim slot.
So no Love on SD from HTC

According to GSM arena's phone specs it saysd both devices support micro SD. Who is right and who is wrong, only HTC know.

At 2:08 of the video it says no sd. My question is with a sealed unit where is the card going in?
The back is non removable.

Just updated first post with link to full 30 minute video of presentation.

as per htc.com/www only 8s seems to have sd-card slot.. 8x has no sd-card slot and no >16 GB variants which is a shame!! ( well. atleast IMO )

sells it to me, I love bright colours they me smile.

Leaving out the sd with only 16gb has probably lost htc millions of customers and ruined what was a game changer of a phone. Its not like its a hard thing to add but alas it seems htc want to keep messing up. sd with beats would of swayed me from the lumia but not this time 920 it still is, that said wife may get one just so we don't have same phone.

And then to top it off the cheap one that's just not got the power to sell itself to me has got micro sd wtf its like why has both nokia and htc crippled there top end phones in favour of there low end devices. Total rubbish!

yes.. no sd card slot. no go.. that too with 16GB ( usable will be even less )

Hello.
I must say I don't really understand the big fuss over the SD slot...
I have a nexus with 16 GB of storage and no SD slot and I don't miss it.
I used to have a note with the same 16 GB and it had a 32 GB SD card and I never filled 20% of that. I use my nexus the same way I used the note.
Cheers
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium

As shown here, the 8S has SD card while 8X does not
http://www.windowsphone.com/en-us/cmpn/windowsphone-8-phones
This is probably as official as it can get.
Apparently, the lumia 820 doesn't have an SD card either.

Haha.

The Beats-related promo image is Android on the 8X. Man, that looks terrible. I'm glad Android ain't on this device.

My Dream Phone..

Just a random thought, but if you could build you're own phone like you could build a pc what would you get?
Mine:
Body of HD2, but with dark gunmetal unibody construction (alla Legend) and touch sensitive keys like my N1, FM radio/transmitter, 32gb internal, 16gb card, 1gb RAM, 1Ghz Snapdragon, 4.3" AMOLED display.

Same but quad-core Snapdragons
Honestly..
Mine would be the size of the iPad, running on Android at this time. With the power of a netbook, or potentially even somethin' like the little Alienware netbook at CES this year. I'd utilize a BT Headset for all calls, and would have my "Phone" everywhere I go. (Honestly... A "Pad-type" device wouldn't bother me to carry around, and I much prefer the extra screen space.
I hate to "need" both a phone AND a laptop. Why not just give me both in one device I say.
Specs are specs... Those will climb with the times. Otherwise I'll come and say I want some crazy ass 3Ghz Quad Core processor Suffice to say... Give me the best available. With a device as capable as the Alienware Netbook, and capable of handling all calls... I'd consider droppin' a healthy $1500 on the device without a 2nd thought.

Super Amoled.
OH THIS IS GONNA BE FUN!!!!!
4.3"AMOLED is nice, but I want the newest SuperBright AMOLED that doesn't wash out in the sunlight.
The current 1GHz CPU is fine, but I'll take a 2.0GHz overclocked to 2.5 coupled with a fancy-shmancy GPU by NVIDIA.

Old Rumor "Samsung Galaxy S2 I9200" - Might be True !!!

i am sure you all remember after the release of Samsung Galaxy S, a Russian site disclosed information about proposed Samsung Galaxy S2 with following specs.
4.3” 1280x720px Super AMOLED 2 display
2GHz CPU,
1GB RAM/4GB ROM
32GB of built-in flash memory, +32GB microSD card slot
8 megapixel camera with FullHD video recording
A-GPS, Bluetooth 3.0, Wi-Fi b/g/n
3.5 mm headset jack
Accelerometer, gyroscope, proximity and ambient light sensors
OS GingerBread
Many thought that its fake or fan-boy gone crazy...well they must think again cuz samsung has announced some amazing news last day.
A "DUAL CORE A9 1ghz Processor"
The system-on-a-chip (SoC) is codenamed Orion, it is based on the dual-core Cortex-A9 architecture from ARM, and will have the cores running at 1GHz. Samsung claims it will be 5 times faster in graphics rendering than its current Hummingbird.
Full HD video recording and decoding at 30fps, support for cameras up to 18MP, and support for up to three displays simultaneously - two on the device itself, and one external HDTV, for example, via HDMI-out. The Cortex-A9 chipsets also should deliver 30% reduction in power consumption.
have a look at following sites:

specs are just the max of what we could imagine. That's why I am skeptical. Talking about 3.0 when 2.2 is not final on the I9000 - that's a rather bad sign.
they will for sure give up on some specs when releasing the phone. and it will also depend on competitors product.
gingerbread is reality. android has already started spreading rumors abt Honeycomb (next version after gingerbread).
Whether the source is legit or not... I wouldn't be surprised if most of those specs are true.
We haven't heard of a "Super AMOLED 2" yet, but it would be a damn fine screen if it say, fixes the color banding on current pentile amoled (maybe use the RGBW I've heard about, that'd be awesome xD) and other issues (improve battery?)
Personally I think the current SGS size is perfect, so a 4.3" screen.. well they better have absolutely no wasted space around the screen lol.
It would also have to have hdmi out, either micro-hdmi or more likely the same connector as the galaxy tab.. and on that note, these specs sound very similar to the tab on steroids (tab already has confirmed gingerbread update + 1280x720 screen iirc).
If they release it (assuming it exists) in <6 months though, I think most of us would be a little mad though.. lol.
EDIT: OMG. maybe "Super AMOLED 2" could one of those foldable AMOLED screens... that would be pretty sweet haha!

If they can achieve the screen then nothing else listed is really that mindblowing, particularly if OPs sources are accurate (OP, I didn't read them, too busy). @Froyo/gingerbread, Froyo is supposedly ready in a fashion that they can use it (and have put lots of work into getting apps to scale) for the tab. It's fairly apparent that the Galaxy Tab has been the focus of their software department for the better part of a month, but we will reap part of those rewards even if it has partially delayed our Froyo...it's definitely not too early to talk about Gingerbread, particularly if Samsung can work with Google (Google might be very interested if they like the Galaxy tab) to become the next Google-Experience Device.

I agree on 4.0" being the sweet spot, then again, before big devices become in vogue I wanted the 5.0" Streak until SGS was announced.
In the other thread about this topic a user said, 4.3" makes the rumors less likely because why would Samsung switch sizes (I know that's not what you said but I'll paraphrase my reply to him anyways). ...'I completely disagree. First, perhaps it was too hard for them to fabricate 4.3" in a device that they expect to sell like the SGS. 2nd, what percentage of Samsung's customers will upgrade from a 4.0" to a 4.3" 6 months later, they are trying to hit a different niche that perhaps opted for the Evo or would prefer a 4.3" if they were out of contract.'
As far as the progression of smartphones go, the faster the better, make my device obsolete tomorrow and that means the newest ones are nearly literally mini-laptops...I wouldn't need one for the duration of my contract. I'd only be jealous of the screen, and that is a jealousy I can live with (and probably pay a premium to switch devices for). Everything else, I'd be able to live without, and I bought this device thinking "This is the one I won't worry about for a year." Shorten that to 6 months and touche Samsung, you've done your job and done it well. The way the smartphone market is these days if they don't do it someone else will (well, they prob cant do screens like these for at least 12 months).
wonder if sammy will have fixed the GPS on the current model by the time that S2 releases
Holly Crap!

Even If it's true, you won't see it until q4 of 2011.
any update on this?
a samsung insider should be asked, anyone know such a person?
Looks pretty awesome to me. I absolutely agree, 4" screen is perfect. 4"3 is a bit too wide, not as easy to hold in one hand.
But i mean, let's be real, all of this depends on the software they'll put in it. Samsung is getting much better at supporting their smartphones but still...
If this thing gets a good OS / support then it will kick ass (look at the X10 still on 1.6...)
AND, who knows what competition will have out by then. Maybe a new iphone 6 with even less buttons

[Q] fake or real?

So, here is the thing, i bought my father a phone from one of those chinese imports, at the time i didnt quite check the autenticity of the product, i looked at the price and purchased, well, my father will never figure it out ir its real or not, im just asking out of curiosity
Here is the link of the item i purchased

(remove spaces)
Sorry, it seems i cant post links, but its sort of necessary for this question
Its funny that even the box looks real, what caught my attention were the sound holes in the back
Anyways, looking for some expert eyes on it, its payed already, im not going to regret my purchase or anything, its just out of curiosity, the link above is filled with imgs of the phone.
Thanks in advance.
By looking at the 6th and 8th pictures (bottom of the phone; open back of the phone) in the description, you can easily tell it's fake. The 3.5mm headphone jack is missing from the bottom of the phone, the hardware Home Button (should be between Call and Start) is missing, and the back of the phone does not have that layout. Heck, the provided battery is 1500mAh, whereas the stock HTC HD2 battery is only 1230mAh.

The internal storage and RAM are pretty low. If I was buying a clone, I'd at least get 1024 storage and 1024 RAM. And preferably the snapdragon CPU.
EDIT: But the key thing to realize is that it will probably NOT work with the standard custom ROMs in these forums; it has different hardware. So whatever you get is what you have for an OS.

HD2 - the smallest phone with the biggest screen

Why is it that no-one, not even HTC, can make another phone with a 4.3 screen without making it bigger than the HD2. Even the T-mobile version of the HD2 is bigger than the original HD2. Now that they've released the Sensation it's a whopping 126.1 mm tall, almost 6mm taller - yuk!
Is it really too much to ask to keep the size down to no more than that of the original HD2?
Big screen: yes please.
Big phone: no thanks.
It seems we'll have to wait for the HD3

Well that's clearly rubbish. The Motorola Atrix has 33% more RAM and 1600% more on-board storage than the Sensation and a dual core processor, and it's in a much smaller case.
HTC just today announced another 4.3 " phone with Android.

What the hell are you talking about? The RAM and the CPU are identical. The only thing bigger is the ROM size, but that shouldn't make the TmousHD2 bigger and thicker considering how small the ROM chip is (probably no bigger than the 512MB one).

i compared to the HTC Sensation, which have 1.2 GHz, dual core processor and 768 MB RAM...and what are you talking about?

Yes, and has smaller screen than the HD2 or Sensation...which is limits the phone dimension

Exactly - Motorola have managed to fit a dual core CPU and 1GB RAM and 16 GB storage into a much smaller case. So your suggestion that the Sensation has to be bigger to fit in the RAM and the CPU is rubbish.
you're all wrong, what they need to do is start putting smaller midgets in the phones.

I don't think it was a technical need that causes the phone size to be different. My former phone is an TP2 TMOUS. That phone was different from every other TP2 in the world - T-Mobile had HTC design an entirely different front and battery cover. I think they simply want to be different. But it is inconvenient in that one cannot use every accessory that is available.

I think we can't understand each other. The OP ask in the opening post why is newer phones with 4.3 screen !!! are bigger than our HD2. He mentioned the Sensation. Which has 4,3 screen also, but bigger CPU and RAM. I think maybe that is the reason why the Sensation is bigger than the HD2.
Than you give the Motorola as an example, but it has only 4 inch display!!! Of course it fits in a smaller case, because the display's dimension determinates the PDA's length and width. If it would have a (for example) 3,2 inch QVGA display, it could be even smaller...

Yes I know what the OP asked. I wrote it. I know the Motorola has a 4 inch display. But you still haven't grasped the basic flaw in your argument. If Motorola can fit more stuff than the Sensation into a phone with a smaller screen than the HD2, then there's no reason at all why the Sensation with the same screen as the HD2 and less stuff than the smaller Atrix needs to be any bigger than the HD2.
I can't explain it any simpler than that. Maybe comparing more than two phones with different screen sizes and components all together is too much for you.
OK, so the aspect ratio of the Sensation is slightly higher, meaning the length of the screen is actually about 1.5mm more than the HD2 despite the diagonal being the same, but that's no excuse for adding nearly 5mm to the phone length.
Htc has done a great job on the devices even though some are having tiny problems on the buttons or something like that.. Now regarding your thought; internal components are the same regardless how much the gigs are or sizes... They just wanted to be proud of another bigger phone imo.. And i am starting to dislike the idea...:S

Sorry, it's a shame on me. I didn't know i am arguing with the OP...so anyway i check both phones' specifications by number (1 Ghz tegra cpu vs 1,2 Ghz Snapdragon, 5 mpixel cam vs 8 mpixel cam), and if they offer me to choose one of them for free, i would take the Sensation, no matter if it's bigger some mm.
It could also come down to manufacturing costs. A slightly bigger phone might end up cheaper to produce than a smaller, but more densely packed phone. Since most of these companies only truly care about the bottom line, it could be a pretty valid reason.

But this one has doorstep servicing
That's true but there still is a small amount of risk.
My friend bought a canvas nitro and found out that it was missing a few sensors even though they were displayed on the box. He got it replaced with great difficulty.

Thanks for the information
Looks good on paper. (Except the screen size)
Mainly the 2gigs of LPDDR3 and the ARMv8 MSM8939 looks promising. If anyone here gets the device, post some camera samples.
The phone looks decent in the video reviews for its price. But flagship killer is not the apt word, since it cannot compete with the flagships.
Idk what you really mean about low range flagships.... coz flagships are always high range
Remember, this is just a rebranded coolpad f2 4g clone, so i dont expect it to be good qualitywise. I am looking forward to reviews after long term use
Good think you guys have a official xda thread, expect new developers to pimp out this phone with cool new ROMS !!
Question
How is possible for MMX to price this phone for 9000 this should be 15 k to be honest given the specs and 4G

Agreed. OP should really change the title to something like Is YU Yureka the new affordable King of midrange smartphones? or, if you really wanna go overboard Is YU Yureka the newest and most affordable Nexus for the masses?
The company really is called YU not Micromax (although started by Micromax founder) and, it is a midrange smartphone with a budget range price.
This is Micromax straight up copying device specs and marketing strategy from Google/Motorola (Moto G/E) and OPPO/OnePlus (One) and Xiaomi (Redmi Note) etc. If they execute properly, this could repeat the Moto G's success. They really should have gone with a 4.5"-4.7" screen (ok, maybe 5" max because India is their main market), bigger battery and, paid deep attention to getting the camera right.

At Rs.15k, it will be closer to the OnePlus One's price and that is a better smartphone. It will also have to fight with devices like the Xiaomi Redmi Note and the Moto G (which has good quality and support in it's favour but lesser specs). Also last year's Moto X was going for Rs.17k....
Nope. Much safer to jump below Rs.10k for now...
