I would have gotten it ages ago if they stocked the gray version... By the way, did it come with a european-standard charger?

They include the converter and a separate charger. Ive already rooted it and flashed zedomaxs rom. See my posts in q&a section for some issues I've found

I got my Note from Mobicity around six months ago and haven't regretted it for a minute. Delivery was fairly quick and it doesn't hurt that it is the German version so I've got all the official updates earlier than most. Australian is ignored by too many manufacturers and we get ripped off on the pricing for those devices we do end up with. Buying internationally is worth it. The Note 10.1 is definitely on my wish list.

Official - no really - release date for Hero 2.1

See here:
http://www.engadget.com/2010/03/26/htc-hero-update-to-android-2-1-on-april-26th-in-home-country-of/
Engadget reference a post made by HTC's official Plurk account mentioning Hero update for April 26th
sounds good to me,but nearly a month away
"expected to be..."
Still as vague as the other dates being thrown around
I know why cant they just release it i cant believe people where talking about Christmas and its been 3 months since that. I just want a sold version on my phone all of these legend and eris dumps arent solid and stable enough yet !!!
My T-mobile G2 UK is in for repair from yesterday, stopped recognising a USB connection. It should be back within 2 weeks but I am keeping my fingers crossed that they will flash to 2.1!!!

People talking about it were just rumors. If someone started talking about like a 2.2 w/e now, would you start believing that as well? If it was HTC giving out the release dates and failing to meet them, well then! Show the hate! Otherwise, be patient.
haha

I check the G2 folder at work every day for that 2.1 update.
trust me a t-mobile repair centre will get it way after unbranded phones.

Galaxy S sales so far? It seems that 1M was exceeded

http://www.unwiredview.com/2010/07/...dy-sold-samsung-wants-to-sell-9-million-more/
Just imagine the kind of support / development / roms / accessories that a phone with sales of this magnitude will get...
And I expect the pressure for GPS fix / proper Froyo support will increase. If Samsung fail on this one, they should forget about the mobile phones market...
'' Samsung sells more than 5 million Galaxy S phones! ''

Hmm... impressive. 5 million people that are either using a paper map or pretty much lost and asking for directions. Now that's what I call mass misguidance.

What firmware are you using?
The firmware that came with the phone when I purchased it was JF3. It was a lemon firmware. As soon as I flashed it with the latest ROMs, GPS works.
Flashed JG5, JM2, JM5. No problem with GPS. Rocket fast Android.
Did you have any probs with the europe JM5 firmwares? I wasn't game to flash with them because of any issues with getting optus to connect properly...

Congratulations, you complained about the GPS/Lag before buying the phone, trolled whilst owning it, and now, rather than moving on with your life, are trolling after selling it. In fact, the only reason you probably purchased this phone was because you like complaining.
Anyway, the GPS is currently crap (I agree), but is usable enough for my purposes (I don't rely entirely on GPS anyway, because it is possible for even more common units to mess up the position). Hopefully Samsung fulfills their promises, otherwise, they might find 4million phones returned in October (I'll be one of the people returning them).
Good on them though for getting Android out there
Sales in South Korea alone was 800,000 in 55 days.
http://www.samsunghub.com/2010/08/1...m110s-comes-to-south-korea-800000-units-sold/
That is 14,545 phones sold per day.

Wow, I don't think I've seen a post by you that isn't complaining about the GPS.
And it's pretty sad that you're so reliant on the GPS and can't live without one. Not everyone is as lost for directions as you are.
Hopefully this will mean a bunch of accessories will come out!
I want this dock...
Umm, I never use gps, and i am sure many others dont.

Do you have some kind of unusually outstanding GPS reception where you live?
I've used both JM2 and JM5 and both take ages to lock on and give that "jumpy" inaccuracy for the duration. Both of those firmwares most definitely are still vulnerable to the GPS issue. Glad to see Samsung is working on fixing the problem though.
I never experienced the jumpy behaviour of the GPS. I admit I never tried it on JF3. My phone was bought in Greece but it originally came from UK (it has a UK charger). The only difference between firmwares is the initial lock time. When used with navigon, it is always spot on.
I really am curious if all these problems with GPS exist...
guys, this is a Sales thread, let's not keep feeding the troll and turn this into a GPS thread
i'm on optus, flashed updates no probs. flashed to 2.2 no probs (rooted then did nand fix for lag).
Only thing i was annoyed with was i had to hunt the forums to redowload the "my account" app, the only useful thing optus adds.
(I do recommend the apn backup/recover app for keeping your network settings without having to manually re-eneter them)
well my upgrade was due on the 13th and i ordered the phone on the 16th from tmobile and they said the uk is all sold out and even other providers have been asking them if they could buy some so it seems uk is going mad for it but they said a fresh new batch is coming in on friday which is tomorrow so i might get the phone on monday BUT!!!! i was told theres a waiting list so i might have to wait till the next batch i cant wait any longer and im going on holiday soon and it might than come when im away GREAT!!!
GPS works fine here, since 1st day. I've only had one problem but that was cause o. HSBC froyo installed which laggggggged lol

wanting to buy ... scared of JM6

Quick question to all.
I maybe in the market for a new galaxy tab... just cause its so nice.
however i am afraid i may run into one with the new firmware JM6
on the about page what do you check for so its not JM6 or will it just say it?
Thanks!
I dont think any SGT would ship with JM6 on it. Correct me if i'm wrong.
JM6 is a test firmware as far as i am know and only people who have manually flashed that firmware onto a Tab would have it.

Thanks, Guys!
I am very eager to switch out my SonyEricsson X10i for a galaxy tab. the tab will be for $775.
I do currently have a SGS for the wife at home and she / i love it. so now i want to add the SGT to the family and get rid of the X10i.
Any feedback?
on a side note i am not seeing the SGT forums as populated as well as the SGS forums.
Thanks
If you love the SGS you'll love the Tab. I'm lucky enough to have both and think they are a perfect pair! My wife got hold of the Tab last night and was so impressed with it that I almost had to pry it away from her to get it back to play Angry Birds!!
I agree about the JM6 firmware, no one has reported it on new OOB Tabs yet so it looks like it's still pre-release. The JM series ROMs seem to be far smoother and faster than the current production ROMS so I guess we'll all get stuck with these signed boot loaders at some point as official updates. Once all providers start releasing updates with the protected code it won't really matter whether you have them anyway as ROM cookers should just be able to base their custom ROMs on a signed kernel and carry on as normal.
I guess there aren't as many ppl posting in the Tab forums as the SGS forums yet as the Tabs are expensive luxury items still compared to the SGS which (in the UK anyway) you get free with a mobile contract. I have no doubt that the Tab forums will get more popular as time goes on.

Samsung officially adds Note 10.1 to their site

I remember already seeing that a few days ago. Forgot who posted it, but it was in one of these threads. Does Samsung take orders? Curious if they will be the first to offer it (authorize retailer-wise).

Since you are new to the Galaxy S4 ZI would highly recommend you read the post at the link below. Depending on what release your phone is on, there are some unfortunate consequences to having an S4 at the moment.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2428254
If you are not on the OTA MF3 or MJ9 you are very fortunate and should start by reading this post.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2297900
Your most immediate focus should be on getting root so you can freeze the AT&T software update app as well as the FWUpgrade and I believe LocalFOTA apps so your phone is not FORCED to update to the latest AT&T releases which have a locked bootloader.
I hope this helps and good luck,

Well, if you just ordered a new s4 from AT&T you will most likely be on MF3 (I337UCUAMF3 is the baseband version) since it has been out for a while. You could luck out and get one that has been sitting on a shelf for a while and still has an older rom on it but unfortunately you will not know until you get it in your hands and look in the "About Device" tab. If you do happen to luck out, keep WiFi off until you can get rooted to try and keep the phone from force updating (which appears to have happened to many users even after they declined the update) before you have a chance to freeze the update apps.
Let us know how it goes,

Ummmmm so if it is MF3, im out of luck? no fix for it... Does the box show the baseband version? I rather sell it unopened and get a Nexus 5 or something

There are no indicators outside the phone..... If you are on MF3, there is a proven root method that will at least give you root, just not the ability to install a custom recovery. The first link in my original message explains the work-around so you can at least get some custom roms (currently only TW based roms) to work on an MF3 phone but until the dev community can unlock the bootloader that is the best option there is.

Gotcha, so one of the main reasons i wanted to get this phone was to "start" doing custom rooms, etc, etc i guess i didnt pick a right platform? ill be a bit pissed if i cant load my own room
if you're wanting to do custom roms, return the phone before opening it and get your cash back. Though there's a lot of great development on the MDL basebands and the phone is a great phone, the MF3 and new one (MJ9?) have locked bootloaders that haven't been broken yet. I personally wouldn't take the risk of being stuck on a later baseband and i'd get a different phone like the HTC one max or the N5
I just really want to know why the S4 I bought last night won't update to 4.3 OTA...
Ya at the moment i have the HTC one (regular one) and screen cracked so needed a replacement.. Also i got the 32GB sam S4 for $150 so i think im better off selling it and getting a N5... not sure yet..

If you can stomach the wait buy from google, if you can't there's swappa and craigslist. I'm planning on selling my S4, going back to my i717 (OG note) and ordering the N5 from google. I like my i717 better than the S4 anyway.

Incorrect. The firmware version is included in the label on the outside of the box. No need to open the box to check it.

As you now have some guidance from users, and we typically do not allow "best rom discussion" as they turn into arguments. I suggest all users read and learn the pros and cons of what the latest issues are with the official OTA's....
