i'm debating between the htc flyer and the n7, but my main concern with the n7 is all the issues that have been discussed and people having had to do 3 RMAs, etc. So is it still worth it?
I'm not sure what the defect rate of the current Nexus 7s are now, but as far as alternatives go, the HTC Flyer is completely outclassed with its single core processor. If you're considering alternatives, you should really look for something with a dual core processor, like the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7".

well im looking to spend $250 or less, new or used. I'm not looking to compare the flyer and n7, as i already know it would be unfair. Not a fan of samsung tablets, and for the tablet i dont need the latest and greatest specs on it. I owned a nook color and was very happy with it, enjoyed my tf101 but the screen was a bit big for my tastes.

If you liked the Nook Color, why not consider the Nook Tablet?
EDIT: I would also take people's complaints here about "defects" with a grain of salt. Yes, of course there are always going to be real manufacturing defects in a product line, but geeks tend to be more...particular than the average consumer. If you're really concerned about it go to a retail store and open it right there to make sure it's to your liking. At least that way too you can return the same day if needed.
Do it. Eventually you'll get a good one, hopefully on the first try.

That would be the wrong move. Sure it goes from a single to dual core processor. But your left with a tablet that is so locked down, and has practically no development. Vs. the color which was pretty cool in its day and has tons of mods. I was very dissapointed after I got a nook tab for my girlfriend.
There is a nook app, and a kindle app. There's no reason to have a nook or kindle after the release of the Nexus. IMO.

I'll admit, I did get a replacement. But that replacement seems good so far. And from the play store, it wasn't really all that much of a hassle. If you can find it locally, it's even less hassle.
I just think in the 7" form factor, it would be silly to get anything else, if you don't like samsung. (me included)

i figured most people on xda have gotten at least 1 replacement, if not more, but thats good to hear the returns via the play store are relatively easy. i guess i'll have to compare final prices and see where i can get the best deal and think about it all.
received mine on monday, perfect condition. i cant complain about anything on the n7, even if i wanted too. for the price, nothing out there even comes close.
Coming from a single core 7 inch tablet, I can say that going with the Nexus 7 is the better choice.
The issues people have been having is due to their very meticulous nature.
Screen separation? There's a guide to fix that. You can send it to Asus to get it fixed, but you can spend 15 mins to fix it yourself.

Well i happen to be one of those meticulous natured people, when i buy something i expect at the very least that it would be in the condition i paid money for. So once a few more people chime in i might just go ahead and buy from the play store, unless there's somewhere better/cheaper/faster. I checked local close by stores and they are all $250 not including tax yet...for comparison the play store total price is $231.85.

I think I read somewhere that the Galaxy Tab 2 7" is on sale this week at Walmart for $250 with a $50 gc, which brings the net price down to $200 if you want to count the gc as cash. Any reason why you don't like Samsung tablets? You can always load a custom rom if you don't like Touchwiz (which I don't).

As the title states, I had the Sprint version of the HTC Flyer, and I liked it a lot. It was relatively snappy, running Honeycomb 3.2, and I had 32GB onboard and a 32GB microSD card in it, so I could carry around a fair amount of music and movies for airplane rides, etc.
I ended up leaving it on an airplane, and I was dejected for a full week before I decided to pre-order the Nexus 7. I got it through MacMall and it has been pretty solid so far. Very slight raised screen on the left side, but literally 1mm tops, and not noticeable. It's not spongy, but it does give if you press hard on the screen (which I never do). As for Jelly Bean 4.1, it is hands down superior to Honeycomb in every way shape and form, and you can definitely tell the difference in responsiveness with the N7. Loading apps like Netflix, Pulse, Kindle, etc. is at least five times faster on the N7 vs. the HTC, and it should be. Also, I paid $230 for the HTC when it was on sale last year, and while I don't regret that amount paid for it, the $249 (no tax + free shipping) for the N7 is a great deal, assuming you get one in good shape.
I would recommend buying from a local retail store so you can exchange and exchange until you get a good unit. It seems like there are a lot of faulty ones out there, but then again, this is a forum where people are going to go to gripe about their issues, not bask in the glory of their perfectly functioning devices.

I'm just not a fan of Samsung stuff in general, I've tried their stuff and read reviews and there is always some issue that has didn't play in their favor, ie: looks, cost, etc...As my signature says I'm an HTC and ASUS fanboy, I guess part of it is I just like the underdogs, like how I like AMD instead of Intel.

I haven't had a single defect on my tablet. Its beautiful, fast, and priced to change the game. I would not hesitate to buy this tablet, unless you have severe OCD, then I probably wouldn't buy any tablet or electronic device, as you will certainly find something to bother you if you look hard enough.
I also owned the HTC EVO View 4G (HTC Flyer) and sold it before buying the N7. It is lighter, slimmer, faster, better screen, and just all around better.
Don't get the Flyer unless you can get it for $100.

These price leaks have FAIL written all over them. No eff'in way will you see me shell out more than $500 for a glorified internet browser/PSP. Make a port of a useful program like Eclipse and a way to write and run code... and we'll talk.
The use cases for tablets are out there, but none of them are compelling enough to price in the laptop range. I mean, this thing is a beast spec wise, but offers less than 1/3rd of the functionality. Can I write code, model 3d... etc? Damn it, $200 more and I could buy an eff'ing macbook (w/ student discount).
I'm not sure I understand who their target market its. I am in the market for a tablet, but that flat out prices me OUT of that tablet. It's a 1st generation, no history, no followers that want an upgrade...nothing like that. Everyone I know that has an iPad is happy with it and I don't think they are going to pull many from that market (especially the apple-holics). While I'm glad to see the price drop from $800 to $700.....that is a $hit ton of coin for a gadget. I know tablets are more than "just" gadgets but I'm willing to guess most of us have laptop, smartphones, and PCs....so in that sense, it is sorta like a new gadget cuz we clearly don't "need" it.
I really don't understand how they justify this price with virtually no track record.
I'd like to point the finger at Apple for this one. They've effectively set the bar for price point with the iPad and now all other manufacturers are following suit.
What these other companies (Moto, Samsung, etc.) need to understand is that Apple charges as much as they do because they can, people will pay for the image.
Android tablets, in my mind, should be priced significantly lower in order to move units and undercut Apple. Why would they ever charge more, or even the same, when Apple already has such a strangle hold on the market? I can almost guarantee that these Android tablets will be dead on arrival (as far as general public/mass market appeal) if they charge iPad prices or above. With the iPad 2 just around the corner these Android tablets really need all the help they can get, especially if they want to win over Apple customers. Even if Android has more functionality than iOS general consumers will still see the iPad as being the best option, and the result will be Android being eclipsed by the iPad 2 launch (at least for initial release).
I'm all for the potential of tablet computing but as someone stated before, and this is bang on in my mind, laptop prices with 1/3 of the functionality. So why would I pay that and why do I need one?
I really hope Moto can win me over with functionality and pricing because the closer we get to a release date the less I think I want one of these tablets.

Couldn't have said it better myself. Up until now I was 100% sure I wanted a XOOM. It's the standard that Google is using to base Honeycomb on, all of their developers have one. It's the flagship tablet for Honeycomb and they're killing it by trying to match Apple's price on the iPad. Very big mistake, and I have serious doubts on how well this thing is going to sale. Compare it to the Asus EEEPad Transformer who's prices are much lower and if Engadget is right, it even comes with the keyboard dock. I just don't understand.

Totally agree. If they price it at laptop level, it has to be able to REPLACE the laptop, so yeah, Eclipse would be cool for us devs (with a bluetooth keyboard, obviously). Although for the average user, most usual apps are available (most people have a computer for internet browsing and the Office apps).
As for the Xoom price vs iPad, in my mind it absolutely HAS to be lower than the pad. Significantly. No one in the real world is going "oh, I wish I could buy this Android Xoom tablet, but it's too expensive, I'll just go with the iPad instead...". It's the other way around, which is why it has to be significantly cheaper to steal some tablets customers. Many of my friends don't even know what's Android!
Sadly like many of you its not looking good for me getting one of these. Looks like I'll be waiting on an iPad 2. Moto really looks like they'll be screwing the pooch on this one.

You're comparing a cheap laptop to the highest spec tablet out there, nor do I believe you guys are looking at the full potential of tabs, by the end of the year your tab will be like another screen in your home with Comcast for 1 example, $700 and I'm getting one on day 1. This price has really turned me off. I'm seriously thinking about just getting a Nook Color, rooting it, and calling that good. Honeycomb was my hope, Gingerbread will be fine for $250 thannkyouverymuch.
Although I may wait about February 15th so I can utilize the 14 day return policy just in case.....the Xoom price drops

As I said, most people don't know what's Android, everybody knows what's an iPhone/iPad. They want that thing with the Apple, so yeah, it has to be cheaper than the iPad (well, than the iPad 2, obviously, the iPad 1 will drop in price when the new one comes out). I know the specs of the Xoom are crazy (but please don't compare that to a high end laptop) but just look at the reactions out there, no one's excited about the current price leaks.

It is very possible to buy an extremely capable laptop now-a-days for between $500-$800. Yes the XOOM is impressive spec wise (for tablets) at the moment but a month after its release the iPad 2 will be here and suddenly Moto's offering won't exactly be "****ting" on anything anymore.
Also, I just want to be clear that I'm not saying the iPad is better than the XOOM or any other Android offering, I'm just trying to look at this from a general consumer's point of view.

At $800 I still think I'll be picking it up pending a couple of confirmations.
The first being that the HDMI outputs the entire screen like on the Notion Ink Adam, and not like my EVO with only outputting from 2 specific applications.
Second is that they won't require a charge/service to activate WiFi. I have no interest in mobile data. If I need access where I don't usually have it I can tether it to my phone.
I want honeycomb, and I want the higher resolution screen over the Adam, so I'm willing to pay more for them. Until it's released or an official price (rather than a leaked possibly faked/mocked up ad) I'll have to wait and see.

I'm getting it regardless. My verizon account is under a military suspension until I re-activate it at no charge, and I currently have a $160 credit on it lol. I just found out, so it's almost like I'm getting it for $640. Hopefully it gets subsidized by vzw for 300, then I can just get it and cancel, then really get it for $650.

I'm on board with existing conditions. Notion Ink Adam is still vapor to me. As much as I applaud their David and Goliath struggle that is increasing rare, I must face facts. There is no guarantee that they will be around in 2 years, hell they could be hemorrhaging funds and be under in the next 6 months.
I also don't think the 1.2" smaller screen on the LG G-Slate will make up for the extra 5mp camera, and 120hz capable screen. Plus, who the hell asked for 3D in a tablet. It's as bad as Sprint's stupid kyocera dual screen phone. It's an industry first AND LAST.
Toshiba Tablet seems like a botched job. How does a tablet get a fancy photoshop/flash website before a name . I don't suspect there will be many cheap tablets this year without sacrifices in quality. Example the semi-crappy screen in the Viewsonic G-Tablet I returned.
It's XOOM XOOM XOOM for me. I just hope I can hold back the tears when I charge 963$ for the XOOM and the Folio case.

How much do you think it would drop? I don't think there is much difference between the 16/32gb memory anymore. I highly doubt that the difference is more the $50 and that is probably a high estimate!
16 is standard on almost all new/upcoming devices. I think all the vendors are just depleting their stocks.
I think Toshiba has learned from the Folio 100 tablet disaster, and the will come with a much better product. Not too many companies get a second chance in such a short period of time.

I'm on board with existing conditions. Notion Ink Adam is still vapor to me. As much as I applaud their David and Goliath struggle that is increasing rare, I must face facts. There is no guarantee that they will be around in 2 years, hell they could be hemorrhaging funds and be under in the next 6 months.
I also don't think the 1.2" smaller screen on the LG G-Slate will make up for the extra 5mp camera, and 120hz capable screen. Plus, who the hell asked for 3D in a tablet. It's as bad as Sprint's stupid kyocera dual screen phone. It's an industry first AND LAST.
Toshiba Tablet seems like a botched job. How does a tablet get a fancy photoshop/flash website before a name . I don't suspect there will be many cheap tablets this year without sacrifices in quality. Example the semi-crappy screen in the Viewsonic G-Tablet I returned.
It's XOOM XOOM XOOM for me. I just hope I can hold back the tears when I charge 963$ for the XOOM and the Folio case.

I've been looking at images and reading through descriptions, and not only is there no sign of a slot, but it looks like they're marketing it as a device with 32GB storage... period. Also, I agree that the 3D is pointless and unnecessary, but I'm still willing to give the tablet a fair shake.
If all reports are wrong, and the Xoom is closer to $650, I'll buy it on day one. If it's between $700 and $800, I'm waiting for another month. After all, we know that HTC and Asus are in the mix as well.
I think we need the option of "I will when the price comes down".
I told myself i would cringe and jump for the 700 price point. 800 - that is hard to justify. Yes, people, i know it's comprable to the ipad (with those specs), which is why i bought an iPad off craigslist for under 400 bucks - because it met my price point. I could literally take a weeklong cruise for the same price.
As for the contract - no thanks, this will be on wifi unless I am on a road trip or something. Even then - the Evo does wifi hotspot.

Looking around the market, I don't see much room for the XOOM to drop. After owning a Viewsonic G-Tablet, I think I see the shape of 500$ tablets. That tablet was good, except that it skimped on pretty much everything. It had a substandard screen(bad viewing angles), substandard touch sensitivity, a finicky wifi adapter(possibly software), and it seems that they installed the accelerometer wrong. Apps that only ran in portrait were always upside down.
I am not sure, but I think the Toshiba Folio 100 was only marginally less of a train wreck. A $650 XOOM would be fantastic, but maybe impossible. I think the iPad is only as cheap as it is because of some unique and smart investments by Apple, and their extremely iterative process of baby steps forward. This cheapens their process. Also they can, not saying they are, take a loss on the tablet, or use a razer thin profit margin and make it up in apps. Motorola has to make their money on the XOOM itself, Apple can play a different game. Then again there is a company with no buying power, Notion Ink, that confounds me. Perhaps the industry has me brainwashed.
I want to just go to sleep and wake up on the 24th.

Anyone see the FCC report on engadget? Looks like the wifi version is passing through. Hoping it'll launch the same day as the 3g/4g version. 650 could put moto back in the game.

I dont need a 3g plan with a tablet - I can use my phone as a hotspot for that if need be.... why would I want to pay twice monthly?

Yes, the G - Tablet IS out and running a Tegra 2 processor, as are a few others.
My point is this. This tablet has nearly everything the Xoom has. Add a front a rear camera and a slightly nicer screen, and 512MB RAM (all relatively cheap for manufacturers) and this price doesn't double.
So please, someone explain how an android tablet priced at 400 can literally double in price based on 2 minor upgrades and FREE software ( Android 3.0)
I will absolutely agree that it is overpriced. However the tablet you linked is a piece of garbage, worse screen, no 3g, and no cameras.
All that stuff isn't worth 400 dollars no doubt, but it should be higher priced than the viewsonic. I'd pay 600 for the xoom easy.

I think that for the Xoom in its current incarnation, $650 would be the sweet spot in my mind; knock off a hundy for the "rumored" WiFi only model and I'm sold. $800 with required VZW activation and 1 month data is far too high. It still surprises me that they think this is how they're going to sell the most. I would think that they'd want to get as many out there as they can, like Apple did. I know people don't like to make the comparison to 1 year old hardware, but we have to remember that when the ipad first came out it was cutting edge tech and they still managed lower prices than this. When Apple is price competitive you know your costs are too high. Also, once they throw down on ipad 2 or whatever you have to believe they're going to keep the same pricing scheme, they definitely tend to maintain the same price structure.

Bang on. Agree with you completely. I'd buy in line for 650, for 800 and they've lost me. I'll buy an iPad 2 to replace my iPad.
To all above , I agree the sweet spot for this would be ~650. I was ready to put down when a pre order came out. I'm just disappointed.
And yes, I know the G - Tablet has an inferior screen. I just used it as a point of reference to a price point done right for the market. Tack and extra 100 - 150 to make up for inferiorities to a WiFi only Xoom and there is the entry price for a successful tablet.

Oh I agree, $800 is too much for this tablet. The hardware and software don't justify the cost.
That said, it doesn't change the fact that I'm still likely to get one. It's at the top end of my limit, but I'll still be there on the 14th or 17th or 24th, whenever the hell it comes out.
Why? Because I'm an early adopter. I buy crap like this the day it comes out, and I pay a premium for it. I had an iPad on day one, and honestly, I don't like crapple products. If it wasn't for my wife watching netflix on it I would have post it on ebay or craigslist a long time ago.
And yes, the G tablet is comparable in hardware for a much lower price (even though it is a piece of junk).
The xoom has a key feature though, Honeycomb. I'm sure they worked a lot with Google to get Honeycomb working smoothly, so to say it was free isn't quite accurate, no doubt cheap, but not free. It still costs them money to implement and update (assuming Motorola won't pull a Cliq and will update it.)
Motorola is banking on the fact that Honeycomb will sell this for them, and it will.
I've got 30 days to return it right? I may do so, I may not, we'll see.

Not trying to get into an argument here, but...
Have you ever actually used the 500? Sure, by running Windows it's got 'a ton more capability', in theory. In practice, it's a pain to use because it's severely underpowered. We evaluated that device and easily concluded it was not fit for two main reasons: first, it's too sluggish, and second, Windows is not designed for a touch interface. It just doesn't work.
Whatever your feelings are on price with the Xoom, comparing it's usability to the HP Slate is a fail. The proof is in the pudding: the slate has sold poorly, even in the corporate environment.
Also another thing to add to the long list, new mobile chip sets are coming next year. Some tablets we could see next year could feature up to 8 gigabytes of ram. You may say LOLWUT, but it's damn true. So why would I as a consumer pay 700-800 bucks for an entry level tablet? I am considering buying a Nook Color and waiting for a proper gingerbread port or buy the new Huawei tablet, or even the next cheap tegra 2 tablet from Velocity Micro which will probably be $250-300.

Not really the case for me, It's just that 4gb-8gb of RAM is a big difference of tablet performance from 500 mb/1gb of ram... especially for 700-800 dollars.
Thats why I'm probably going to be purchasing the Nook Color which is literally half the power of the Xoom.

Yeah, you can't really comparer the NC to the Xoom, they're totally different. One is a hacked up device to become a tablet, the other sets the stage for the latest in tablet hardware and software. Not that your making an exact comparison, but they're just so different you can't argue them on the same field.
I had the NC, I took it back. Just too slow even on basic web pages and stock android.

Yah, I wanted the Xoom so bad my self . I have a sealed Samsung Galaxy Tab which I was going to sell and get the Moto Xoom but, if the Xoom is really over $700.00 which is my budget then, I will just open my Samsung Tab and Root it and enjoy it!! Im sure there are a few good cheaper Tablets on the way so , will just wait a few months and see what is on the way
She wants an "ipad" but by that she means a tablet. I can NOT justify spending $500 on a 16GB ipad or $400 on a 16GB Nexus 10 for that matter. The Infinity is really the only high end one that I would jump on but that is way overkill for what she is doing (pics, vids, music, web browsing, kindle). So I started looking for "budget" tablets and it was down to this or the Xoom. Xoom is $259-$270 manufacturer refurbished but we all know the TF101 blows it out of the water and Newegg/Tiger are selling them for $229 refurbished right meow. I trust Newegg and they have an amazing RMA policy AND they have extended returns all the way through January 1st no questions asked and free shipping. Kind of hard to beat.

Very excited to be getting this. She is not crazy big into rooting or ROM'ing but I'll be on here looking around so if she has any complaints that can be addressed by a ROM or something (like cleanROM on the Infinity) it'll be GTG.
Any advice for me before I wrap it up and leave it under the tree for her to wonder wth it is? Obviously going to test it as it is a Refurb so I have time to send it back and get a new one if its bad but is there like... MUST have mods to do to it or should it work fine for her out of the box stock ICS? Again, she is not an Android nerd like I am and only cares that it works and is fast for what she is doing. I've had a TF101 from day 1 and just got a Nexus 7 to replace it. The TF101 has been good to me but wanted something faster, that could playback high profile encodes, easier to hold and under 400 bucks. I strongly considered the Nexus 10 but 16GB isn't cutting it anymore and I'm not paying 100 for another 16 gigs. I prefer non-metal construction so I love the nexus devices. The metal corners of the TF101 cut into your skin after a few mins. The no SD card was a big deal to me too but then I learned you can mount external storage if you just get a USB OTG adapter. For movies and music, not apps. I will miss the back camera most of all for video chatting, showing people things and my 1 year old doesn't exactly sit still. You will enjoy the TF101. If you want another used one let me know

I agree here, return te TF101, while it is still a good tab, don't get me wrong, but getting her the 300 would actually be A LOT better in the long run. Less issues, JB out of the box, and only minimal mods to make it work fluidly. If she is a heavy texter, then I would suggest preinstalling a few apps like Tablet Talk (by one of our DEV'S here.) and maybe a few others that you think she might want to have on it.
But definately return the TF101 and get the 300. You're only a few bucks more into it, and in the long run it will be further supported. ASUS has already stated that they will provide KLP for the TF300 and up, where as the rest of us will be stopped at JB (for official ROM'S).

Oh yeah I had no idea the TF300 was available NEW for that price. And the nice thing about getting it at BB is I can get a 1 or 2 yr warranty on it. I think I could have with Newegg too but I like being able to take things to the store and talk to a person, even if it is the geeksquad...

You are quite welcome from my end. At least we can see that you thought it through clearly and decided that a LITTLE more for NEW was better then a little less for refurbished. Correct buying it at BB you can get the extended warranty, get the ACCIDENTAL DAMAGE ALSO. Found that out with my wife's DSLR, strap holder broke, letting the camera fall from her neck and hit the iced over concrete. It looked like that scene from Terminator 2 when the liquid metal terminator got froze then shot and exploded.
Sadly (not really) they no longer made or had available the same camera I had initially bought my wife, so they had to *sigh* upgrade her to the next one up. Now if I buy something from them I make sure to get the max extended warranty and the accidental damage coverage.
Also as a side note, just root it before she even opens it. Set it up for side loading and all all ready.
I might root it... I dunno its all nice in the shrinkwrap right now and I'd like her to open something brand new. Then again I'd probably be better off checking it... And damn I completely spaced my own advice on getting the protection plan. Probably should gander on back and pick it up for the tablet. In my research I was drawn to this one for its stock experience, specs, expandable storage, stylus, and gaming. Problem I am having is all the threads taking about cracks and poor WiFi. The tablet will almost exclusively be used in my house and mainly in the room with the router. My son is only 7 so he is not ready for some of the more intense games but I like the idea that he can grow with this and that the specs will carry over for a while. My plan would be to use my ouya controller at first then work my way to buying the nvidia controller if he is playing enough on it to warrant
I can get him a nexus 7 for $120 less or a galaxy tab 8.4 pro for $50 less but both have their shortcomings. I guess my question is are the complaints a vocal minority or is this tablet a great idea not truly realized? Thanks in advance for any thoughts
It's true the wifi is not top notch, but it works fine anyway. It simply does not have the best range it could possibly have. It's not a dealbreaker for me.
Cracked edges - no problems here, and I think this is a minority problem.
Overall I am pleased with the tablet. The battery life is OK. I love the stylus and the fact that I can stream games from my PC. Just the other day I was playing FIFA 14 from my PC with an XBOX 360 PC controller connected with an USB OTG cable.
My advice: go for it. The tablet is solid.

I have just recently purchased the Shield and this was a unit that was a RMA replacement that the seller got when he sent his back because of the issue with cracks. I have been completely happy with the unit thus far and the fact that it is near stock is a huge benefit. I also have a Nexus 7 (2012) that my daughter uses and while it works well for her (8 years old) it doesn't have quickness that the Nvidia does. As for WiFi I have had no issues at all with mine, I know others here have but I have not.
I also have a couple of Samsung Galaxy Tab 3's in the house and they are garbage, I won't buy another Samsung product as I have had nothing but trouble with them.
Also in the coming weeks if you keep a close eye on Craigslist you can probably find someone selling a near new Nvidia as the lemmings part with them to go get the new Nexus 9 or the latest piece from Apple. That's what I did and saved quite a bit off retail.

I just got mine (LTE model) last night and seriously, I have never seen a tablet fly like this one does! It is beautiful, feels great in the hand, WIFI and LTE work great and it is just a pleasure to use. I'm not a serious gamer but really wanted it for media, art-making and everything else I can do with a fast and sleek android tablet, including some light gaming. I am not at all disappointed.
Rooting with towelroot was super simple and didn't require unlocking. It is sweeeet!

Calm down he was asking for 325 for a bundle but I dont want half of it. I offered 250 he can take it or leave it. If no one else offers anything he can choose if it is worth it to him. I sell a ton on Craigslist and can make my own decisions on if I like an offer or not.

Well folks can criticize low balling if they like but in my case I went low on a WiFi model and was very nice and respectful in my language when I made it. He politely turned me down but I was patient and after I noticed it was still listed (and re-listed) two weeks later I contacted him again and restated my offer with a kind note that "with Apple and Google releasing new devices it may be difficult to move a lesser known device like this at the price you're asking." He emailed me back within minutes asking if I could come up $20 and he'd throw in the 64GB MicroSD he bought for it. I kindly agreed since I was going to pay at least $30 for one on Amazon anyway.
My point is there is nothing wrong with low balling if you are respectful about it. If the person refuses and gets more for their device then great, many times they won't but if you're a d*ck they won't even take a low ball offer seriously.

As with any transaction there is a worth to the purchaser. I only said my offer was low ball because I would be getting the tablet, case, controller, and 32gb SD for $325 which is a great value retail. I did not intend on buying the remote, don't want the nvidia case, and have an SD. So to me I am buying a used tablet for the same price as retail but getting allot more in the end. I run the risk of the potential that the unit has issues and the struggle of getting nvidia to make good not being the original purchaser.
