WP8 SDK leaked, with links! - Windows Phone 8 General

Can somebody download these linked files and put it to more reliable download place?
http://wmpoweruser.com/windows-phone-8-sdk-on-the-web-before-any-official-announcement/

I tried to register to download them, but the site won't let me register. Had a friend translate the text though, so there might have been some confusion.
If someone can upload this to Mediafire, that'd be awesome!

I know these links, but the original sources are somehow dead. Can somebody reupload it to SkyDrive/RapidShare or similar? Thanks.

Yes I did .
Good forum members shall write me PM for the file. I am not sure I want to make it public! So far I have a good relationship with local Microsoft office

I've downloaded all those files and installed the SDK like 5 minutes ago. That emulator has 1900MB - my connection is not that good for uploading it
Edit: All those WP8 SDK documentation materials from this site, reuploaded

I am uploading as we speak, but like I said - I do not want to publicly vent the link to my private server . And those multiupload would be taken down rather quickly! So PM me if you think you are eligible
// Also my third brain tells me that the emulator image is actually VHD that you can mount (directly or with a bit of luck).:good: (I am still installing)
// Yes, those are regular VHDs you can mount natively

You don't put the files on the storage card. You create a new directory in the root of file system called "Storage". This is confusing I know. You want a new folder called "Storage" on the *same level* as your "Windows" and "Storage Card". Then you put the files in Storage/Program Files/Haret.
Also if you are using the kernal from that site (i.e. pre built) you wont be able to do anything. On boot it will crash with a kernal panic. If you want a working version you have to compile your own kernal from the source in their repositry...and I ain't talking you through that! Even then you only get a command prompt
Lewis
WOW THX!!!
but now i have a kernel panic^^
Kernel panic - not syncing: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on unknown-block(1,0)
after that the device is freezed
only what i can do is a soft reset!

Yes! I told you that would happen! See my above post. Have compile the newest kernal to get anywhere - and even then you only get a command prompt.

Next Problem, did i understood that right, that i need linux on my pc? because that looks like in ubuntu in the shell or a other linux.
cd /usr/local
tar xvfj /path to/arm-linux-gcc-3.4.1.tar.bz2
vi ~/.bash_profile
add in the line: PATH= ":/usr/local/arm/3.3.2/bin"

i havent linux on my computer. so what could i do? can somebody send me the kernel, or his complete folder with linwizard?
mail: [email protected]
Thanks!
Grab a Linux liveCD like Knoppix www.knoppix.org or DSL - Damn Small Linux which is only about 60mb so will be a quick download, if you install it to a USB stick too then you can write files to it as well.
EDIT: Just realised that if all you want to do is to extract files then grab WinRAR it does most things like tarballs and the likes.
Yes you need Linux to compile a kernel - and a fair few dependencies.
I have attached a kernel i compiled (I *think* it's the latest). I can't see why this would be a problem as the source is open to anyone, but if it is let me know so I can remove it.
Lewis
interesting, can anyone post some screen shots of Linux on the wizard?
This one seems a bit more recent, and will get you a command line without a lot of hassle:
http://webtomware.rhoen.de/linwizard/
Hmm.. but the linux seems to be bit far fetch from being usable, huh? Usually, I'm good in getting stuff from the web, but it seems that this linwiz information is a bit hard to dig. I was just wondering, how functional is it currently? I know that there are a few linux for others Windows based phone and they have quite a history to them, so I presume there are some working linux that can be transfer to the Wizard?

Yeh it is. It's all on that webpage I linked a while back. The wiki is where you'll find instructions. If you find the readme file it talks you though it., but the compiled kernel I posted above is the latest anyway. It is only a command line and people are still working on it. Long way from being at the standard of other devices (Blue Angel, Universal etc.). But still, its hope! I for one can't wait.

Q&A for Linux/Android

Ok thought might as well start this off myself seen as people keep talking about it, lets have a Q&A thread instead of bashing up the original thread so it can be used just for news and updates.
Does Android work on my HD2?
yes and no, at the moment it boots, no touch-screen driver so that's it so if you try this is what you get
microang has made up some pretty nice versions that dont blue screen check them out here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=7032400#post7032400
Can I flash Android?
NO NO NO, it will run from Haret, it will not be a ROM, (yet maybe one day)
Can I boot Ubuntu?
yes you can, but touch-screen issues again,
UPDATE there now is a TS image to use
you would be better off using a mouse and keyboard via a powered usb hub.

What I found was that the ubuntu folder must be inside another folder which is on sd root. So tree wise its setup as...
1) SD root
2) Folder (containing the ext2 and the ubuntu folder which contains the haret files)
If you do it like you did, it hangs, I had the same problem. If you do it the way I explained, it gets to the actual linux kernel (tux) but kp's when the modules are to be loaded.

Yes, but i downloaded it over the rapidshare mirror.
what i did:
-copied everything to the sd root
-replaced zimage with the kernel that boots on hd2 (from irc log)
-merged the default.txt and startup.txt of the ubuntu build with the irc-log-build
start haret.exe

hi guys,

what is wrong? maybe i am stupid?

That's the first of it, but go grab artn3r's pre packed ubuntu from the official Android/Linux thread a few posts after the one you quoted I think, and set it up folder wise as...
1) SD root
2) "fatsal-ubuntuX1-20100225" (containing the ext2 and THEN the ubuntu folder which contains the haret files)
That's what I did to make it work but as stated in the official thread, it hangs at the module loader
the name doesn`t matter?

Not sure TBH. Something interesting happens if renamed to something other than the original name though. The coherency test hangs but if reverted, it runs up to the tux.
Just upload ur files if you got it runing

Ok, SOME progress. Mine HALF succeeded in rebooting after deleting then recopying the files over (making changes of course). It got past the rebooting in 5 seconds hang and now has actually made an attempt to restart. (yay!) But all I got was it declaring it was about to reboot and the Kernel version number. i.e. 2.6.32.9

no it doesn`t matter where the files are or in which folder or how it is called.
tried this:
1) haret, ubuntu folder and co in the root of the sd card
2) new folder called "fatsal-ubuntuX1-20100225" with alle the files and ubuntu folder in there
3) renamed the folder "fatsal-ubuntuX1-20100225" to anything else
does not matter...the result is all the same.
haret booting, init the panel and stops after a line "welcome to kovsky aka xperia - ubuntu" with an error
mount: mounting /dev/block/mmcblk0p1 on /sdcard failed - invalid argument
failed to mount the sd card. cannot continue
/bin/sh: can`t access tty: job control turned off
/ # _ (blinking cursor)
BUT...hardware controls response

Interesting, mine gets none of that. In fact, the loadmodule shell extension is the only think stopping mine from progressing. Oh and umm. It also attempts to switch to rootfs.

No other partitions, hmmm. But in case this helps, its still got winmo stuff on it, so not formatted to ext2. Doubt that'd make a difference though as the SD's format shouldn't effect the format of the ubuntu image.

Q. I get the error - 'java' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file.
A. You either, do not have the Java installed or have not added java to your PATH in Environment Variables. Either install Java or add Java to your PATH.
Thanks dude.
Any feedback, problems or suggestions?
wow it works! Easy to use! thanks!
Thank you.
Are there any Linux wizards out there who can help me port this?
New version 0.3 available.
tried it all i get is cannot find specified path
edit: forget that i fixed it had to modify the it as im using jdk 1.7.0
I don't know why I changed it, but in v0.3 it assumes you have installed the Java Development Kit (JDK) on a 64bit system (it mirrors my system rather than a universal approach).
If you have java added to your windows PATH, try using these files, just extract these to the same directory and run these instead.
works great! small suggestion is for the batch file to ask for the location of your jdk.
also have error checking as the batch said it worked but didnt at first (due to the location of the jdk)

I am using a 64 bit system I have jdk on both program files 64 bit and (x86) and the path in the test keys ran to jdk 1.6.0_25(x86) so I used notepad ++ edit it to 1.7.0(x86) tried again it signed and zipalinged no problem

Your right, I wrote this quickly to fulfil my needs on my system.
I will update to v0.4 with error checking & JDK checking soon.
Thanks for the suggestion.
EDIT: Seems you beat me to the reply leith. If your JDK is added to your windows path then it shouldnt matter whether its 32 or 64 bit. When I updated from v0.2 to v0.3 I used my personal build rather than the universal "java" approach. I can see that as explicit paths are specified in the .bat. v0.4 will add error checking and will most probably include a stripped out java package.
awesome! keep up the good work dude

If you are like me you are tired of reformatting to have to type in a long mess of stuff just to use adb well I have simplified it in a small sh file. It installs all the applications according to Android's website. I even updated the application names to the ones which Ubuntu 11.10 64-bit recognizes. It's an initial release feel free to modify.

[PSA][Tutorial] How to Capture an OTA

You do not need to be rooted! Just have USB debugging enabled in developer options.
Please post the official URL of the OTA that you obtain from following these steps so that everyone can download it safely and securely.
Please do not rehost the OTA zipfile on some ad-laden scammy download hosting website.
Steps shamelessly stolen from http://www.droid-life.com/2014/06/05/download-nexus-ota-url-file/
As soon as you get the OTA notice:
1. When you get prompted to download an update on your phone immediately plug your phone into a computer.
2. From that computer, open a command prompt, type “adb logcat” and hit enter. (On a Mac it’s “./adb logcat”)
3. The command prompt will then begin to spit out information from your phone.
4. Feel free to then tap the “Download” button on the update from your phone.
5. Once the download starts, you will be able to find the URL of the file that is downloading in the logcat.
6. You can do a handful of things now to find it-
a) See if you can spot a URL in the command prompt that starts with “android.clients.google.com” – or -
b) Copy the logcat info, paste into a text editor and then search for that string – or -
C) You could also search for the codename for the device (Ex: Moto G 2014 is “titan”)
Once you have the full URL, post it on the forums!
Nice
Some corrections:
first links for Motorola OTA zips start from storage.googleapis.com. not android.clients like of Nexus
second if you use adb logcat only, there will be a lot of text generated which deletes the logs captured at beginning (in which our url is).
so use abd logcat>filename.txt
so that you can search whole log i.e.filename.txt in text editor
third it's not that simple "post the url in forum"
links of Motoroal OTA get expired immediately (Nexus links don't expire) so you have to download it first and again upload it somewhere.
so please at least try before you post
I know it was not possible to test for you.
Hope you will update OP with corrections.

What do you mean with "immediately"? If I get the link while my phone is downloading the ota can I use the link to download it on my pc almost at the same time?

Yes you can use it at that time
Great initiative.
A tutorial like that should have been fixed on these forums right from the beggining.
The OTA soak test for xt1069 was lost forever, for instance, because nobody who received the notification knew about this.
On the off-chance that you're using a linux based OS or Mac OS and want to make life even easier, use grep to filter the output and then print to file:
Code:
adb logcat | grep 'storage.googleapis.com' > ota.txt
Just used this method to grab the OTA for 5.0.1 without root! My recommendation is to do this:
adb logcat > log.txt
Search log.txt for handleDownloadServiceRequest:downloadUrl
Copy / Paste URL into browser
Search log.txt for "fileName":"\/cache\/
Rename file downloaded from URL to file name listed in the logcat
Upload to XDA for others to enjoy

BTW, this latest update came from https://dlmgr.gtm.svcmot.com as the root domain. The link did expire as soon as my device finished the update and checked in.
