I have tried flashing the Fix-Recovery.zip and cwm-root-gtab2.zip. I am getting E:signature verification failed. I doubled check everything I did and used a different sd card thinking maybe it wasn't accepting the sd card. Still having the same issue. I don't know if anyone has this problem with the method, but I would greatly would like the help to get root for the Tab.

what type of cwm and galaxy tab do you have?

Thanks for this! I have one question though. How come I don't have CWM in the menu? I can boot into recovery mode just fien.

only CyanogenMod roms have the option to directly go to CWM recovery ,stock roms don't have that possibility.

I have the gt2 7 3113

Work nice for me, now rooted :good:
ICS 4.0.4 UEBLE4

Odin Version?
Do you think the Odin version has anything to do with it? I also have the SGS3 from Verizon and I've rooted and used Odin version 3.07 however the guides to rooting the g-tab use odin version 1.85....I've tried using both. I can boot into recovery however when I try to install the .zip files I get the "E signature fail" message.

If your sure the download is good and md5 checks out (if there's one posted) in cwm recovery in the flash zip menu there is a (disable signature verification check) click that then try and flash the zip) if the zip is good and u get that message it just means its unsigned.

worked perfectly on LPH. I reset my counter with Jig, updated to LPH(the bootloader too) and used this to use CWM and root. I ended up restoring my CM9 backup and now I'm on the new bootloader(feels faster, may be just me) with no triangle. Thanks!
Do you loose the ability to install apps to sd card like when you use CF-Root kernels or is it a safe method?
Thanks

You may have the Holy Grail here - a rooting method that doesn't need USB/PC connection.
As far as I know, there is nothing else that can do this.
Market it as such, and you're on a winner.
Any reason why someone without said connection abilities couldn't root with this ROM and then change accordingly?
Still many who don't want ICS, but I'd be interested to hear if anyone's rooted via this method and then successfully changed to GB.
Sounds good thanks for sharing..

IF you are sure you have the v8 bootloader installed, you should be able to install a recovery.
You must have an ICS rom installed, or on the Ext SD card, have an ICS rom ready to flash.
If you currently have a stock ICS rom installed, then you need to be rooted, and delete the "boot recovery" file (or similar name). Or else when you boot your tab, the custom recovery gets overwritten.
You can look at Civato's Bootloader and Recovery guide for the exact name of the file.
Note that v8 bootloader and ICS recoveries, DO NOT work well with HC based roms. You must have an ICS Rom.

1) the robot is the 'stock recovery.img'
2) you must be rooted before you can flash 'anything'
3) The only way to do this (on HC) is by installing a custom pre-rooted rom
4) If you want ICS your tab should update itself, you will need acer enhancement app from the market. then Settings>About Tablet>System Update
5) you can install a stock or custom ICS rom BUT you must have root to update to the patched bootloader which some of the custom roms require.
6) you cannot "open" recovery.img.
Ok, so please stop posting the same issue in other threads, or you will never get your problem solved.
Now. You say you have Skirlax_cz's V8 bootloader installed. Correct? If so, you should be able to boot into the menu system of it (vol+ and PWR). If you get the bootloader menu, good.
Now, you will need the Android SDK (google it and download and install it). After installation, go to c:\windows\program files (x86)\android\android-sdk\platform-tools. Open a command window here. (it may be installed in program files)
Boot your tablet like I described above, and at the bootloader menu, select "fastboot". The tablet should say fastboot mode.
Now, copy your recovery.img (or whatever you named it) into the platform tools folder on your PC. It has to be in the same folder as fastboot.exe
Now, make sure you have the rom you want to install on your EXT SD Card.
Next, plug in your tab to the USB (I always make sure in device manager that the tab is recognized as a fastboot device)
In the command window you opened earlier, type in the following;
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
Remember, if your recovery image is named "public-recovery.img" for example, that is what you should type in the command above.
Once the recovery is successfully flashed, then turn tab off.
Unplug from USB
Hold PWR and Vol- untill you see the message "booting recovery kernel", then release both. You should boot into the custom recovery now. Then you can do your wipes and stuff as per the rom install instructions.
Of course, this is ONLY if you have the V8 bootloader running.
Also, I posted a better rom. Evil Alex Unleashed, so you should install this. It has problems fixed.
MD
OK MD, thanks for your guide.. now I have installed your ROM successfully, it's running very smooth. Thanks very much and sorry for double posts

Wow! It worked!!!!!!!!!!!!
Damn, better than I thought.
Gotta love Skirlax_CZ and putting flashboot in the bootloader v8. Throw a thanks at him when you get the chance please. And if you used EZTerry's public recovery, please throw a thanks at him also. And anybody else who helps you. That's how it works here.
I hope you installed Evil Alex. She's much better than Alex V. Alex V is a good girl, but she need the wakelock app from the market. Evil Alex hopefully does not. After all, these are Acer leaks. AKA "beta". So we really don't know what to expect. And things "will" change in the next month, and new builds "will" be released.
Am glad you got it running.
And Dibbs, throw a thanks to him also His instructions were after all, correct (he didn't know your V8 was working).
Any issues, please put them in my rom thread.

Download and install appropriate USB drivers for S4 Mini GT-I9195 in your computer using Samsung KIES.

How to root Galaxy S4 Mini and install CWM recovery tool:
Required files: download the root package containing all the files that you would be needing during this guide from here. Extract the contents on your desktop; this package contain Odin 3.07, CWM package and Insecure Kernel package.
Download
Need help Click Here
1).Switch your S4 Mini off and enter into Download mode: press and hold Volume Down, Home and Power keys simultaneously until you see the menu.
2).Connect your S4 with computer using a USB cord.
30.Install the Odin program on your PC and run it. Go for admin rights.
The top left of Odin screen will show you ID:COM port to which your Galaxy device is successfully connected with.
In the Odin, uncheck F. Reset Time.
4).Now click on PDA button and browse to the Galaxy-S4-Mini folder and locate the GT-I9195_MF5_870901_kernel.tar.md5 file. Click Start to initiate the flashing process.
When done, you will get a PASS! message on Odin window and your S4 Mini will be rebooted automatically - do not close Odin.
5).Boot your device again to Download mode as done in the previous steps. Ensure to uncheck F. Reset Time just like before.
6).Click on PDA, browse to the same Galaxy-S4-Mini folder where you had extracted the downloaded package and select the CWM recovery package recovery-clockwork-6.0.3.3-serranoltexx.tar.md5.
Click on Start to initiate the ClockworkMod recovery flashing process.
7).Once successfully completed, you will get a PASS! message and the S4 Mini will reboot.
Close the Odin window now and power off your device.
8).Enter into recovery mode: press the Home, Volume Up and Power keys together.
9).Tap on Reboot system now and confirm the root.
That’s it. Your Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini GT-I9195 will now be booted up with CWM recovery installed and root privileges! Download the free Root Checker app from Play Store to verify.
The above instructions did not work for me. Everything passed but no su binary was installed on the phone, so no root access. CWM installed fine though. Anyway the instructions in the other thread in the development forum worked perfectly. My model is GT-I9195. Just posting this here so other folks looking for root instructions are aware.

This seems to be arco68 's old root method. Read arco68's thread on the Samsung Galaxy S 4 Mini Android Development subforum. There are latest instructions with odin v3.09 there.
Is this the same way as arco68 method? If it is true, then why you doubled the threde? And without the permission and credit from him, that means you steal from him.

When I try to reboot or power off from recovery, it just goes back to recovery without doing anything. the only way to reboot is pull battery out.
On selecting reboot phone or any option from power menu, it gives a message which is as follows. I couldn't see this properly as the message appears just for a fraction of second.
May flash recovery on boot
This cannot be undone.
With two options which are as follows:
No.
Disable flash recovery on boot.
After this it goes back to CTR main menu. Any help here.

[TUTORIAL] How to make OTA update with other recovery

Hello!
I managed to do the OTA update on my HTC Desire 820. The trick is that it replaces the original recovery.

3. Open firmware.zip
4. Copy "recovery.img" to sdcard for example.
5. Replace recovery.img
To this step I use "Flashify" app from Google Play.
Run Flashify and select "Recovery image".

Select "YUP!" and wait.
Don't restart your device.
6. Install update
Go to Options -> About phone -> Software updates and select "Install now".

This operation takes a few minutes.
7. Final
Managed to do the OTA update.
If you want you can install other back recovery.
In the event of the emergence of a new update you can do the same.
I hope that helped. Best regards.
I followed this process yesterday, but it's ends with red explanation mark.
Why don't you make it like flashable zip for custom recovery.

I once had such a situation as you. Helped off the phone (VOL UP + VOL DOWN + POWER) and enable it again.
i cant extract the firmware.zip from the dual sim ota, tried it multiple times but always get the message that its corrupt
it worked
Download winrar to help you extract the firmware. I just followed the procedures yesterdat to install my own update that has been pending for few days. It worked so well, just as it was explained here. I use single sim 820 though.
Thanks to this site.
of course i have tried anything already, nothing works, so weird
I extracted firmware.zip by RAR APP from play store, you can try it.

After this (with stock recovery ) going to download lolipop and tried to install. It start and going good but after few second crashed. I think it schould be bootloader.

I tried that .I locked bootloader and installed the update but it crashed with red exclamation mark.
Actually that's because you might have "tamper " flag on.

Boot into bootloader and choose recovery option wait for 30sec or 1 minute for recovery menu to show.
There you can see "<Tamper>" flag.
If not then your system files are unchanged.
