[Help] Black screen - HD2 General

Hello good folks,
I would like a bit of help with sorting my phone out. As of Thursday morning (2 AM or so) my phone has a black screen. The phone switches on, the touchscreen works (I can unlock it, put it to silent, hold the power key and tap the places on screen that would normally switch it off to do just that), the volume keys work, I can receive calls, the back light works.
Everything is as it should be, but I cant see a damn thing!
I should note that this happened once before, about a month ago and a few hours later it was back to normal. Also, I have noticed over the past few months a very small black circle at the top edge of the screen, about half a centimetre in diameter.
Please help!
Kindest regards.

It's the first time I read such an issue, your screen's probably defective.
To eliminate a probable OS issue, does the bootloader appear flawlessly ?

No, nothing appears at all. The screen is completely black at all times!

Your screen is malfunctioning, I don't know what's causing it and I don't know if you can fix it yourself either.
I think you are better off sending it back, if still under warranty.
Otherwise, ... ?

This just happened to me NOW....I'm waiting hopefully it will fix itself as i hear the HD2 heals itself LOL

Screen turns off right after phone calls are dialed

Hi folks:
Sorry if this problem has been covered before. I ran a search to try to see if I could find someone having this problem and could not find it. This problem started all of a sudden (without any ROM updates or nothing).
This is it: I make a phone call, and immediately after I press "TALK" on the screen, the screen turns itself off, and I don't have access to the keypad, or any of the touchscreen functionality.
I tried pressing all the hardware buttons to see if the screen would come back on, but nothing, it stays off.
Then, when I hang up the call (by pressing "END CALL" on the screen), the screen comes back on and everything is back to normal.
Can anyone offer any clues to solve this? Thanks in advance.
is the phone near something? maybe your ear?
is anything in front of aproximity sensor? (upper left, near speaker)

Nope... I use a BT headset since I got it (this only started happening 2 days ago, and I've used this device for over a month now).
It also happens everywhere (in my room, outside in the street, etc).
Very puzzling... I am thinking of doing a hard reset, but want to see if anyone has had this happen before...
Does it happen when you don't use the headset?
Yes indeed, I had already checked that and ruled out that the headset was causing the issue.
have you recently installed a "screen protector" ? This happened to mine as i hadn't quite got the holes lined up for the proximity sensors.
thanks,

This happened to me as well today. Had the phone for 3 months now and can't say I've noticed it before. I do have a screen protector which also covers the proximity sensor (no holes in that area), but this was like a month ago and I have had no problem accessing the screen during calls until today. I have made a couple of calls after the one I mentioned but didn't remember to check if the problem was still there. Will try to see on the next one
ive been able to just press a face button to bring the screen back up. of course mine turns off when i put it near my ear thats intended. i had an issue where the touchscreen would not work at all durung a call. the screen would be on but only the physical buttons could do anything. a hard reset fixed that
Yeap, coincidentally, I just installed a screen protector and a protective case (darn). I will try this without the case and report back.
Thank you !
Problem solved ..
Been trawling these forums for hours for a registry edit to fix screen blank when making a phone call - LOL - who would have thought it was the cheap plastic case I whacked on the other day!

G1 Screen problem

Hello, My G1 has just suffered a problem, i was scrolling down a web page and the screen faded out like it had lost power but the backlight was still on, the keys lit up and it still could make the trackball clicking noise when you moved it. I took out the battery and left it for 5 minutes and rebooted my phone and the screen turned on for about 3 seconds and faded out like before but it did boot into android as I heard the notification/startup sound. I think that the screen has burnt out but im not shore so has anybody had this problem before and/or might know how to fix it
Just some more infomation, If the screen dies and I leave it for a few minutes, when I unlock it or slide the screen up, the screen works for a few seconds but then fades. Also the fading looks like the screen lost power or like its losing pixels
From my experience with phone hardware this doesnt look like screen problem, but rather the lamp driver in the motherboard. the only way to narrow down is test the motherboard /screen with another phone.
If this is the case, it might require servicing the backlight driving circuit, which by far requries soldering/desoldering some components in motherboard.

[Q] Screen crack and blackout after phone call

So my sister who also has an Aria dropper her phone and now there is a huge crack on the screen. She doesn't have insurance so she is trying to find an alternative way to fix it.
Simply replacing the screen would work, but another problem started happening when she cracked the screen. During a phone call, the screen will turn off, as it should, but when the call has ended, the screen stays off and the only way to turn it back on is to either pull out the battery and reboot the phone or to plug it into a charger.
Does anyone know how to solve this problem? Will replacing the screen fix the blackout issue? Or is this phone just trashed forever?
sounds like it destroyed the phone and the proximity sensor. i'm not sure if replacing the screen will fix this.
I actually had the exact same problem after dropping my phone during a call. I noticed that I didn't have to pull the battery to end the call if I held it up super-close to a really bright light (desk lamp, etc).
There were many times when I was on the street (in nyc), and had to find a bright light to hold it up to.
I dropped my Aria right on the corner with the ambient light sensor (in the upper right corner), which shattered the glass right in front of it.
Amazingly enough, after a few weeks, it started to get better and better - and now, nearly 4 months later (yea, i just deal with **** lol), it will hang up cals properly.
I'm actually working on replacing the screen right now, btw

[Q] Display problems

I dropped my S4 the other day and cracked the glass but it continued to work. A few days later I picked the phone up and hit the side button to bring up the display and now all I get is a flash and the screen remains black. Rebooted, pulled battery and still does the same. You can still hear emails coming in and when I get a phone call I can swipe the screen and take the call but it remains black. The only thing that lights up is the led and the menu and back button. I took it apart looking for a loose cable but saw none. Any ideas? New digitizer?

[Q] Odd behaviors since screen replacement

A few weeks ago I dropped my GS4 coming out of the grocery store. It hit the curb on its side right at the volume button. The screen (glass and LCD) broke. The volume button also deformed slightly. The case I had on it offered no protection around the buttons or the top and bottom. Got an Otterbox on it now.
Anyway, after weighing my options I ordered a new screen was replaced it myself. The process is pretty straight forward and only took about 20 minutes. I could probably do it in 5 if I had to do so again. Since the replacement I've noticed a few odd behaviors. It doesn't seem to charge as quickly (could be my imagination, I have no hard data to back that up.) I had it on the charger for about 6 hours last night and it only got up to 86%. It was at about 25% when I plugged it in. To be fair, last night was the first time that's happened. I was using the same charger I've been using since I got it.
Its also fully waking when I wave my hand over it to check notifications. It used to just show the screen with the notifications and time. Now, that screen comes up briefly then goes to the unlock screen.
The replacement screen is an OEM Samsung screen for the i337. The internal markings are all correct and match the broken one. Any ideas why this is happening?
Okay, the charging thing seems to have been a fluke. Haven't had an issue with it since that night. The issue with it going to the lock screen when you wave your hand over the screen persists though. It is happening every time. Also noticing that when I make a phone call from the handset (not sure if its the same when I initiate the call from Bluetooth) that the phone volume slider appears on the screen. The volume doesn't change, the slider just appears.
