[Q] Screen crack and blackout after phone call - HTC Aria General

So my sister who also has an Aria dropper her phone and now there is a huge crack on the screen. She doesn't have insurance so she is trying to find an alternative way to fix it.
Simply replacing the screen would work, but another problem started happening when she cracked the screen. During a phone call, the screen will turn off, as it should, but when the call has ended, the screen stays off and the only way to turn it back on is to either pull out the battery and reboot the phone or to plug it into a charger.
Does anyone know how to solve this problem? Will replacing the screen fix the blackout issue? Or is this phone just trashed forever?

sounds like it destroyed the phone and the proximity sensor. i'm not sure if replacing the screen will fix this.

I actually had the exact same problem after dropping my phone during a call. I noticed that I didn't have to pull the battery to end the call if I held it up super-close to a really bright light (desk lamp, etc).
There were many times when I was on the street (in nyc), and had to find a bright light to hold it up to.
I dropped my Aria right on the corner with the ambient light sensor (in the upper right corner), which shattered the glass right in front of it.
Amazingly enough, after a few weeks, it started to get better and better - and now, nearly 4 months later (yea, i just deal with **** lol), it will hang up cals properly.
I'm actually working on replacing the screen right now, btw

In-Call: Screen turns off and unresponsive

Hi everyone,
I recently changed my HTC's Aria digitizer because it was cracked.
During the process everything went smoothly however after that I have discovered that when a person calls me or when I call someone the screen turns off and never gets back to normal if there is no other "stimulation" such as putting the phone to charge for example.
My guess was there was a problem with the sensor so under settings I chose to keep the screen awake at all times during a phone call, still, I am having the same problem.
The weird thing is that sometimes when I remove the battery cover everything works fine and the screen keeps on, but sometimes not, so its not a constant rule..
I may have messed up something during the replacement of the digitizer (its just the glass not the lcd) such as removing the sensor and not placing it back correctly but the thing is that I dont really know the components of this device so Im not sure what is what..
If anyone could help me to understand the problem a little bit I would really appreciate it.
Thanks in advanced..
Anyone? Please
The sensor is right above the AT&T logo. If the little rubber ring isn't perfectly aligned with the sensor, you will have this problem. My wife's phone has a similar problem and it is fixed (temporarily) by firmly pressing on that corner. The adhesive strips have failed and I am looking for a source besides "Repairs Universe".
Thanks a lot!
I will try to take apart my Aria again and see if I can align it correctly
thanks again
glad that i found this, having same issues with my wife's aria, will give it a shot

[Help] Black screen

Hello good folks,
I would like a bit of help with sorting my phone out. As of Thursday morning (2 AM or so) my phone has a black screen. The phone switches on, the touchscreen works (I can unlock it, put it to silent, hold the power key and tap the places on screen that would normally switch it off to do just that), the volume keys work, I can receive calls, the back light works.
Everything is as it should be, but I cant see a damn thing!
I should note that this happened once before, about a month ago and a few hours later it was back to normal. Also, I have noticed over the past few months a very small black circle at the top edge of the screen, about half a centimetre in diameter.
Please help!
Kindest regards.
It's the first time I read such an issue, your screen's probably defective.
To eliminate a probable OS issue, does the bootloader appear flawlessly ?
No, nothing appears at all. The screen is completely black at all times!
Your screen is malfunctioning, I don't know what's causing it and I don't know if you can fix it yourself either.
I think you are better off sending it back, if still under warranty.
Otherwise, ... ?
This just happened to me NOW....I'm waiting hopefully it will fix itself as i hear the HD2 heals itself LOL

proximity sensor issues

wanted to know if im the only who is having this issue with phone calls. even without a case when i move the phone away from my ear it doesnt respond, i still get the black screen. i press the power button but the screen just flickers and doesnt do anything at times. is it the rom? my phone? i also faced it into the light and sometimes it comes on sometimes it doesnt.
figured it out.... went through 4 screen protectors and got the cut out right for the last one. seems the proximity sensor is blocked by the screen protector. almost listed my phone on ebay. haha

[Q] Proximity Sensor Driving me nuts

Hey
My proximity sensor keeps stuffing up. When I make a call, and put the phone to my ear , it turns off the screen but when I release the phone from my ear, the phone screens remains off and I cannot access the phone untill the other party hangs up
This is a real pain when they do not answer and their voicemail comes on and I need to leave a message. I have to turn off my phone when this happens
I have fixed this but it only remains fixed for about a day
I have cleaned it, blown in the area where the proximity sensor sits with a straw ( did not have air compressor can) worked for about a couple of days then it stuffs up again
Not sure what the hell I can do to fix it now.. Buy a new sensor? I have a screen protector but there is a cut out where the ear goes
Go into settings, accessibility, then tick 'The power key ends calls' It won't turn off the screen.
I had that problem, I took the sensor out and wiped it, seems to be fine now. I saw a video online to help me, not got the link readily at hand though

Proximity sensor not registering movement/doesn't turn the screen back on

Hi,
Lately i have been noticing that the proximity sensor on calls on my s5 is not working properly. Once i answer/make a call, when i place the phone in my ear it shuts down the screen but the problem is when i take it away from my ear, the screen doesn't turn back on.
I tried the the testing menus (*#0*# or something like that) and when i placed my finger close to the sensor it detected, going green and vibrating but it doesn't go away from that state.
The only thing that changed was that i applied a glass screen protector a few days ago and im thinking it could be that, but its strange because its only when i back away from the screen that it doesn't register, so i don't know if that or not. Also, the protector is properly aligned and the edges are not on top of the sensor.
Anyone experienced this on their s5?

You have to change the proximity sensor or cancel it(cutting the flat)
I ended up removing the screen protector and it went back to working properly =/ I can't really put it back on now because it attracted specks of dust and it doesn't glue well now =/
Cutting it flat means it deactivate it? Because i find it useful for phone calls
