My galaxy has never been this fast! Tip to others :) - Galaxy S I9000 General

My galaxy is blazing fast and battery is ok, this is what I did:
Clean install of ICS F4K mod R4 linaro + devil 3.0.84 linarI.
Then made following settings in devil kernel configuration tool :
Governor: smartassV2
Scheduler: vr
RAM: 403mb
ZRAM: on
ZRAM size: 150mb
Swappiness: 70 (default)
Devil idle: automatic
Smooth UI: on
Governor profile: normal
Ultra KSM: on
All other settings are default, no overclocking not OCing.
Then on the developer settings I turned in the GPU rendering.
This installations and settings are making my phone super responsive and fast. I hope it can help our fellows here which might be annoyed with laggy phones.
Good luck in trying it out.
PS- remember to back up your EFS folder before trying this out!

Stupid advertising...

Its a pity you see it in that way... I just wanted to give a helpful tip, since I've got much help from this forum. Regarding the comments in ROM and kernel, those are just my opinion. There are other amazing ROMs and kernels as well in here.

Where did you get devil3 0.84 from? -_- last I checked there's no GPU rendering option in devil kernel configuration

Those are kind of test version released by DerTeufel. You can find it in his threads. But not on the main page.

Smartass is slower than ondemand anytime.
Zram is lagging system for a better multitasking.
SmoothUI only works on Lulzactive.
UltraKSM is using more CPU and making overheads.
Force GPU rendering setting is making force close on apps and never increases smoothness.
Why EFS backup is needed before trying some simple settings?
Please do more than ticking some settings and research them before making a thread for telling that it imporives the performance like magic.
Ok open nstools and set this;
Governor: Ondemand
Treshold: %50
Sampling Rate: 20000
Schuelder: vr

Isn't lulzactive better than ondeman? Its a little slower but more battery friendly. Because it scales up slowly as the CPU load reaches the particular percentage (you can set it up via nstools)
Edit: SmoothUI can be applied to ondemand, smartassv2, and lulzactive. I think lagfree too but not sure.

Threshold is a value in %. As soon as the CPU load is higher than the (up)threshold is, CPU scales up. The sampling rate shows how often the CPU scales(looks for the CPU load and decides to scale up/down or stay on the current frequency).

Quadrant scores!!!

Hey guys with all the quadrant scores being posted everywhere, I haven't seen a topic dedicated to these alone. So that's what this thread is for. Here are the rules:
Rule 1: when you post a quadrant please tell everyone what Rom/Kernel you are running so if anyone wishes to follow your steps they may do so.
Rule 2: Please merge your posts if your going to post one after another or simply edit your post and update it to maintain order.
That's it. Thanks guys and here is my quadrant. AOKP 40.1 devil .97 with v6 super charger and kak

Seems like you started this thread so we could show off each of our own tweaks and roms. I came here for a little advice too. That way I could see some big performance increases to my phone.
(first screen capture)
old rom: AOKP 40
old kernel: devil .79
old CPU governor: smartassv2
min-max frequency: 200-1400
(second screen capture)
Current rom: AOKP 40
Current kernel: devil .79
Current CPU governor: conservative
min-max frequency: 100-1400
I was curious I used the ROM setting built into the AOKP rom to set the cpu frequency, but should i use devil kernel config or manager or nstools. or is that just for live OC? My cpu frequency is set at boot. My quadrant scores are pretty low. Any tips for a noob?

Go to settings, Developer settings, then put a check mark in Force GPU Rendering Make sure the Max CPU is 1400 low is 100 Governer I have set to conservative, ZRam is set for 100mb. Try those settings and reboot before you test again

Ok I believe the Force GPU rendering definitely made the biggest difference. My 2d and 3d scores jumped up. I updated my post. For some reason in the ROM controls it took a couple tries for the new cpu and governor settings to stick after reboot.

MunkyDrunky that still seems a little low considering what everyone else is pulling. Try this as well. And I'll include the files from my phone when I get to my computer with instructions.
Get if not already had toolbox
And go to performance and SD card boost. Change the value to 2480 (I think it is. It will give you a preferred high set)
Go to app manager and freeze any constantly running services that you would normally use such as yahoo mail Facebook etc. And use the mobile web versions to help save ram. I'll include v6, 3G, and a few other files you'll need as well.
After the SD boost and app freeze reboot phone into recovery and wipe cache and dalvik. Then reboot and try your test again.

[POLL] Which CPU governor do you use the most?

I know polls existed like this before but I was curious which governors are most commonly used in my gingertiny and incredikernel kernels as there are quite a few options though looking at the list not too many. I didn't put performance on the list even though it's an option in my kernels or at least one of them as it's not great on battery. Feel free to post comments about why you choose it. My choice is actually smartassV2 but there are other good ones as well.
I voted for lag free, but smartassV2 is a close second. I have always used smartass and smartassV2, untill lagfree was introduced. Lagfree just seems to have a little better balance between speed and battery consumption, at least in my opinion.
Been using sa2 but switched back to lag free and all is back to being smooth on ics linaro.

Good read on Gov's.nice explanation of how each Gov scales the CPU under load/idle
Which i personally found helpful since i wasn't sure what the difference between each gov was. Of coarse excluding the obvious ones powersave/conservative etc
Thanks for the read - It's tough to wade through all the differences all over the web, so seeing a single spot for all the info like that is great.
i use smartassV2, it seems to work better than the rest do for me

BFQ it is best. But with Aurora you can't change to that one only between noop and cfq, this last gives me worst battery saving. But with governor interactive or ondemand is almost equal.
But each phone is differente so and therefore there is no best solution that you guys try them and check.

I tried out your Set CPU setup and it was kind of bad, because of the lagfree governor,i did some research and i found a thread explaing all governors and lagfree doesn't actually make your phone "Lag free" it saves battery by throttling it down to the minimum clock speed for a simple task but when it needs more juice it will throttle higher providing more performance, but it doesn't work well as i have had regular force closes with apps like FlipBoard, Falcon Pro and messaging (which force closed alot)
Thanks anyways for contributing

Awesome stuff man.
I decided to install Lupus Kernel (720p) and I failed so many times because ADB wasn't detecting my phone in fastboot and reason is because i use a mini usb hub (it connects into 1 hub and makes 5 hubs) so adb and fastboot dident have direct conntact with my phone and today i had a strange feeling and pluged it in to main usb port on my pc and it worked like a charm,i flashed lupus and i am enjoying it.
I think it is considerably faster that Doomkernel and smoother AND reliable,i used to get random force closes every now and then but now its super smooth and Touch screen response seems to be 100x better,
I also tried out your setup and shadowgun,Dead trigger(ULTRA GFX setting) and MC4 runs smooth at around 50 FPS
Glad I could help!

Im Currently seeing what i can get the most speed out of what is better and does zram help with gaming
I don't think zRam helps with gaming that much,u might get 1-2 FPS boost
