My suggestion is that Samsung Note is not worth buying,
Reasons being
1. EMMC Bug can is not fixed and still they (Samsung) has not even accepted fully that they have this error. they have not addressed that they will be providing the solution or not. So rooting and customization will be hard for general users.
2. Forget about rooting, Still with the stock rom itself Phone reboots may times without any reasons.
3. Software hangs even with Stock rom and only way is to reboot it manually.
4. Very poor Wifi network, frequently turn off and turn on WIFI without any reason.
5. Samsung do not hear the voice of customer. very bad services.
6. especially in Indian type of consumer market buying Samsung Note at the present rate is not worth.
7. No widget for music player, 1X4 or 1X5 Dual Clock.
8. Touch Pen Problems not addressed
9. For the money its not worth with Bug in EMMC.
Never Never Never Buy Samsung Products. untill they are hit with sales they do not hear the customer Voice. One fine day they will also be like Nokia.

i don't know...with some custom roms you can fix some of those problems,wifi,the reboots,widgets,touch pen...and with that EMMC bug depends on you if you make wipes on ICS recovery...right now i have on my note Modded Lite AlBa LQ3 Final Stage and it's smooth,stable and fast and i like the size of this phone ...it's a unique phone for the moment

I'm using my Note for more than half a year, I tried many GB roms stock and custom, all ICS chinease leaks, and now last ICS custom. I never got any of your problems, I did wipe on ALL types of kernels and firmwares for Note. Never got any bricks.
You've just got factory marriage Note. Go to service center and change it for normal. Or maybe you just unskilled noob and deceiving here.
You right only with 5 point. But it's not only with Samsung. Almost all manufactors are the same, they really love money.

i was on kindroid v3.0 and i don't like it,some times was laggy,change the kernel and same thing...change vith cryskelo and same thing,about a week i use Modded Lite AlBa LQ3 Final Stage and its greath:good:
my note is still yet to arrive but from what i've heard there are also issues with echoing (person you are talking to hears their own voice) as well as severe black crush/clipping issues with video playback.
I have zero issues with my note (running RocketROM v7). As a matter a fact my buddy just received his GsIII (at&t) today and after comparing the two very closely the SIII is not much better. He even said that if he could have bought a n7000 through at&t and set it up like mine he would have much rather had the Note. Mine Note is just as fast and smooth as his SIII in every way with better functionality due to the custom rom provided by eybee1970! This is just my experience....

Dear friends/ Samsung lovers
No doubt there are many phones out with the better features with Bug free. paying few more $$ or euros. So my suggestion is that better go with SGN or HTC one X rather than going to SGN. As Android is an open source, and customization is what Google has given more Importance for which it is at top place compared to the Iphone.
Having bug free phones is what we need to select rather than falling in pit to the buggy phone.
finally its all up to you to take the decision. I hope all will take the better decision. If you think rooting itself an sin or always working on the defective phone then their is no meaning in paying so much to this Phone at least.

Pretty sure threads like these are unecessary.
The first thing before I bought the Note was, I borrowed the Note from a friend and put it in my shirt's pocket. The Note cooly sat there. That is it. I bought it.I cant carry a tablet, where ever I go. It is the size of the Note that keeps the members of the Forum together. You can call the Note- a phone, or a tablet or computer or even a Note. It could become a perfect computer, could it accomodate 128Gb sd card. Nothing beats a Note.
Had a note for last 2 months, update to official ICS Rom and i had no problem whatsoever,, except the USB wake lock which is solved easily by rebooting the phone after connecting charger or usb. Working perfectly and i love it.:good:
Nokia has great customer service. They just made some very bad decisions, manufactured hundred phone models that were basically identical and were left behind on smartphone field which basically landed a decisive hit on them. And now with Windows Phone they might just die... don't get me wrong, i love Windows Phone, but sales are not that good, and even though Lumia was the fastest selling Nokia device, they are still in deep crisis. Anyway, wish the best for Nokia, hope they'll recover.
As for the list you provided...ok, with the eMMC bug i agree, but i shouldn't buy Samsung device because there is no music widget ( with literally thousands of free apps on the market ) ? You serious ?
And i don't really care about their customer service... no customer service really cares - good service pretends that they do, but they never did and never will, wake up...

I had issues with my Note when I updated with the OTA ICS update. Kept crashing and such, even from a clean Gingerbread. So I reverted back to Gingerbread for the minute until the ICS release matures a little. You will get this with virtually every major new release of the phone FW.
It does not detract from the fact this is a superb phone and I won't change it for anything at the minute.

I'm pretty happy with my galaxy note, there were no problems when I was UN rooted with GB. Tried several GB roms, kernels etc after rooting with no problems. Shifted to ICS, with LP1 repack, emmc bug news broke out. Shifted safely to aosp roms without problems. Now using touch wiz based roms and very happy with it.
Excellent battery life.
Non existent lag.
Awesome roms available.
Good developer support.
Basically it's a fine device, learn to do stuff with it after reading on xda. Enjoy your purchase.

The missing camera LED, notification LED and the update policy of Samsung are reinforcing my concerns.

iPhone - don't like the platform and Apple condescending BS.
Desire - have one currently, excellent phone, reasoning for trying the Galaxy S - better graphics prowess (I like gaming), TV Out & DLNA, more storage space for app installation, WiFi tether, DivX, the screen - both better display characteristics and multitouch, better audio SQ.
EDIT: Oh, and the Desire's bluetooth implementation is anoying with peripherals like keyboards/controllers/heart rate monitors.
You dont need to go for htc or apple. There's the new motorola coming out that also has Arm cpu

Still have my doubts too and am questioning the logic behind leaving out all leds. It does appear to be a long running design choice with Samsung phones from what I've read.
I'm ditching my HD2 due to unreliability issues, so the Galaxy does seem a bit of a gamble when the Desire has so many great reviews. It's that damn screen on the G that keeps pulling me back tho!

If I don't like, then by law under the Distance Selling Regulations I can send it back and obtain a full refund inc postage.
Well the whole reason with pre-ordering without testing for me is that manufacturers these days don't seem too good (or perhaps intentionally) at judging demand, so if I'm not getting one in the first batch then I could end up waiting months. But that's why I've been checking every review and user opinion, so at least I've got an idea.
just watch steven jobs tout his iphone ... don't you think he knows that the iphone is crap in some regards ? yet he sells it to "stupid" folks as best thing since sliced bread ... why would he tell you something he knows the iphone is bad in ? his job is to sell phones and not to tell the truth ... same is with the other manufacturers

Practice shows that sallers always say that the packege was unwrapped and the unit shows signs of usage and they decline taking it back. And that means weeks or even months of Consumer Advocate work or a lawsuit.
So your suggestion is out of question for me (and I think other unfortunates) and becasue of that I always wait and read a lot before I buy a thing that I can't test properly.

Like the bearded one, I shall be returning mine under UK distance selling regulations if I'm not entirely happy with it. But I am cautiously optimistic. Samsung is a big company with a lot of customers, it stands to reason they're gonna have some unhappy ones.
This phone is going to be such a big seller (over 1 million pre-orders in Europe), they will have to get it sorted if there are any little niggles, plus if they plan to be taken seriously on Android they do realize they need to change their support and policy towards upgrades. We've already seen them make a clear statement that 2.2 will be supported.
But my main reason for buying it, there's still nothing else out there that comes close in terms of overall capability.

The choice between iPhone and the GS is more a choice between android and iOS. I thought about buying the iphone, but then I realized I hated their push notification system (had a lot of bad experiences with it with my iTouch), the lack of widgets, the lousy multitasking (I use ebuddy a lot, and the multitasking implementation of the iphone only allows for push messages with IM's). The iPhone itself is a great device, technically, but the software just doesn't cut it for me.
The choice between the Desire and the GS is a bit more difficult. While the Desire is the nice looking, better built cheaper phone with the great Sense UI (although the touchwiz UI also has some nice things, like the app list and the ability to take screenshots), the Samsung is better in about every other aspect. For example:
-Better, bigger screen with better multi-touch (the Desire has trouble tracking as much as 2 fingers at the same time).
-Better processor AND better graphics processor.
-Better bluetooth and wifi and higher mobile upload speed (2mbps<5.76 mbps)
-Better media player and sound quality with support for Avi, FLAC, ...
-Extra memory, both ROM and general
I'm coming from a desire myself, because I really had trouble playing games on emulators with the bad multi-touch. The GPU also wasn't able to keep up in games like Asphalt.
With the GS already on amazon for 499 euros, I would definitly choose it over the desire, which is around 469 here in Belgium.

I've only had one Samsung phone so far (i900 Omnia I) but in the 2 years that I owned it I never had a serious problem, even though I bought it 2nd hand on eBay. The only few times it crashed was when I installed a new app it didn't like.
The main reasons why I'm interested in this phone are the 4" Super AMOLED screen, 8GB/16GB on board storage plus SD card, 512mb RAM, 2GB ROM, 1GHz processor with 1500 mAh battery suggests good battery life (although reports so far are mixed), confirmed update to Froyo (as per gsmarena) and apparently good video player and sound quality. Also, I had good experiences with the camera of my Omnia so I'm hoping this bodes well for the Galaxy S camera (yes, I'm aware that it doesn't have a flash). I hated TouchWiz on the Omnia and would prefer plain vanilla Android on the GS, but GS TouchWiz looks much less invasive and more practical than Omnia TouchWiz so I think I can live with it.
I'm keeping an eye on the iPhone 4 as well, but I'm put off by the small screen (smaller than previous iPhones), no flash support for the browser (not so much for youtube but so many websites use it) and I'm a bit suspicious about Apple potentially hobbling Google sync functions. Also not looking forward to iAds.
Yeah, the performance of the phone and the screen are the things that are keeping me from waiting for another phone.
Hearing about bad build quality from those that tried it worries me.
But then again I come from an HTC Magic which has bad build quality but nothing happened to it in a year except dust under screen, but on Sammy that won't be a problem.
Reasons ?! i could write many reasons but this is all i have for now
1- Of course the Super Amoled Screen (best screen to date)
2- The screen is BIG!
3- The Hummingbird processor that means i wont have problems watching a movie on my phone and also it'll rock on game
4- Tv-out sulotions so you have:
a- Wired tv-out using S-video cable .
b- DLNA so you can stream your videos/images/music to your TV ,Media Player, PC , Laptop or PS3 wirelessly
5- Huge internal memory so you can throw anything you want in it .If it's not enough just throw in a 32 GB M-SD card
6- Codecs support so it's ready for your vids
These are the reasons i have for now that makes the galaxy s stands out between Desire , Legend and iPhone !
So if i made a comparison between each device the list will grately expand !

I don't know the source any more, but I read somewhere that it's possible to deactivate TouchWiz and use the Vanilla Android instead.
I'll do a search on that!

Yeah, I think I read that too somewhere. You can deactivate it on the Omnia, so that would make sense. But the GS version looks like I might actually find some of it practical to use, e.g. the Daily Briefing (provided Samsung modify it to allow custom news feeds), unlike the Omnia version which I didn't find very useful.
If the GS build quality is as good as other Samsung's I've had I would be happy. I've always found the build quality excellent, especially compared to SE and Nokia.
However, Samsung haven't been the fasted at updates, so the sooner they confirm Froyo the better.
I tried to like the Galaxy Note. I really did. However, the size is just to overpowering for me. Plus, I couldn't shake the fact that the GS3 has come out as a more feature-proof device.
When I first got the phone, I was in LOVE, LUST, whatever! However, pulling it out of my purse begin to feel like a chore and the noticeable lag was not something I felt I had to deal with on a $600.00 phone. Now, I know you say, well stall a new launcher/rom. But guys, these treats should ADD to a phone not mask faults/shortcomings.
I have to say, after hearing that the Note II may be a bigger size, I have to wonder what brave soul would carry it? Soon, will be putting Ipads up to our ears!
All in all, I want to say that I have enjoyed the Note forums and have learned soo much. Kudos, to those who LOVE their phones and I wish you a smooth free experience going forward.

For me Ive adapted to the size, at first it was overwhelming but now it feels normal, All other phones feel miniature lol !!
Im also considering the SGS3, but not to replace my Note ! I have 2 lines with my provider and ones almost up, So I think I may get the S3 or hold out for the note2
that being said, Phones are getting bigger and bigger now, The HTC One X is big, Hell even the SGS3 is big !!
I dont make a lot of calls, and when i do i have my head phones / bluetooth headset in, So i rarely need to hold it to my ear.

I could have bought an S3, but I chose the note instead. The S3 has a very slightly better camera sensor and two more cores on a slightly better CPU.
I see the Note's size as a plus, but that's entirely subjective. Both are great devices, and either will serve you well. Sometimes it takes a day or two to really know if you really like a device enough to keep it.
Today I asked a retailer if I could swap my SGN for S3.
I consider moving to S3 because of superbrick bug and screen issues.
But I'm still holding ..... isn't S3 another Samsung phone ?
Little confusion but I'll follow S3 forums and decide.
I was on the.original 5" bandwagon with the sell streak, I have had my note since November and I won't consider anything other than a note 2 for my next device.
There really is no going back from the.functionality of a 5" screen, for me at least.

You are not masking anything..bad choice of words.
Using a better ROM makes the phone faster and a lot smoother. There is no masking involved is all too real and proves that is not a hardware fault.
I do it with every phone and in the case of the NOTE. I am not changing unless it is for a NOTE 2 or similar.

After doing that, Car A now goes at 30mph, while Car B goes at 40mph. Car B is faster now even if it was slower to begin with. It had more potential than Car A - but that won't be realized without some effort on your part. Also, it's also useful to note that the manufacturers of these two cars may be different from each other and may also not be expecting what you intend to do modify their cars as well.

I`am not realy fond of touchwizz so i am running CM9, the phone is super fast, has no lags and does work as it is supposed to be.
I love the big screen for browsing, games, video`s and photo`s.

Difference of opinion. I stand by my original statement. I even upgraded to ICS and while it made some difference in smoothness, the results were negligible plus it added some problems.
Adding to my original post. I also think the Note is going to become the red-headed step-child now that the GS3 is out. May not be true, but that is my gut feeling. Besides, I bought my note, last week -- Technically, I'm already using outdated equipment. For those who are passed their return windows, the Note is great, but for those who still have time to AT LEAST play with the SG3, I would.

The only my 1 BIG reason getting the Note is S-pen. It really saves my work days apart from other BIG cool features.

Interesting discussion, and I'd like to post my opinion as well.
What clearly differentiates the Note from other phones is the size. And the pen. I almost forgot about the pen, as I hardly use it. For me, a Note would be equally fine if it came without the pen. Some will disagree here, as they have other usage requirements.
I deliberately chose the Note due to the screen size. I had iphone and other phones, and I use the phone frequently to watch movies and to browse the web during my frequent travels. Having used iphone and others previously, I got more and more depressed with the small screens. I can say that I appreciate the Note's larger screen and its great resultion. It makes these tasks simply more fun.
If someone performs tasks such as phone calls and SMS, the larger screen size does not benefit (much). So appreciation with the phone is releated to its use.
So I believe the phone serves people with certain specific requirements, and other features/functions are then simply less important.
Unfortunately for me, watching movies is somewhat affected by the bad screen gamma as reported at many several in the forum. But I still would not want to change back to a smaller size, as I am not much disturbed by it and I can live with the issue (also because my screen is by far not as bad as what some guys report here).
If I ever (have to) change the phone, I wish it would have the following characteristics:
1. Approx. same screen size, but certainly not smaller
2. No gamma issue / better gamma calibration
3. Better back camera (better sharpness, less distortion, better light sensitivity)
4. Provide root access out of the box (no jailbreak/rooting required)
5. Better battery life of Android OS (probably requires better software programming skills)
Performance-wise, I am totally happy with what I have now, and I am not requiring more CPU cores or higher frequency. My phone has been totally responsive all the time out of the box since November 2011.
I had GB 2.3.5, 2.3.6 and ICS 4.0.3, am now on Paranoid Android 0.4 as I totally disliked the email app in ICS. So the operating system still matters somewhat. So it is good to have a choice here.
The only time I feel that the Note is too big is when I am in "dangerous" zones in the city where people could snatch your phone anytime! I mean if you take out a smaller phone, it would probably go unnoticed at 60% of times, but with the Note out in your hands, this huge beast will surely attracts everyone's attention in 99% rate!
Otherwise, I never encountered any so called problems that many people are complaining about!
Some adapt to Note's size, some don't. Good thing is that we have a choice. I'm really against Apple-like "one size fits all" philosophy.
from a gamer's perspective i say : f*ck all other phones, the screen is just perfect for my taste.

I recently needed to find a new android phone for use on at&t network in the US - I was looking only at unlocked phones, focusing on quad core phones, preferably 2gb of Ram, and 32gb+ of onboard memory (or at least SD card expansion).
I mostly recently was on the HTC One X and briefly used the Nexus 4 - After some research I decided to give the Xiaomi Mi-2 a shot given its specs:
- 2GB of RAM
- a quad core CPU at 1.5Ghz
- a 2000mAh removable battery
- a 4.3” display
- 32GB Internal Memory (no SD)
- MIUI Jellybean based ROM
Hardware wise the phone hit all my needs - Software wise it is primarily tied into the MIUI Rom. While the bootloader is not unlocked, Xiaomi also offers stock Jellybean android for the phone as well.
The Mi-2 is mostly sold in China, but recent expansion into Australia and the UK has been announced as well. Given I am in the US, my best option was to order from China - As there are fake Mi-2's being produced, it was essential I find a reputable dealer.
After reading great reviews from both XDA and miuiandroid.com, I decided to make the purchase from ibuygou.com
There customer service and communication was great from before buying through delivery - Their customer service rep Anna was in constant communication and updated me on my phone's progress via DHL. In all, from order to delivery took approximately one week from China to Los Angeles.
Additionally, and very important to me, they accepted payment via PayPal so I had some buyer protection in case of issues. Some places in China want money orders/Western Union and I do not trust this at all.
What arrived was a great surprise:

Anna and the team at ibuygou.com went out of their way to deliver a great package!
Once the package was opened I found the phone, a USB cable, and a charger. They do not include headphones with the phone, but I've got a few pairs around so it was no issue at all.
The phone is available in a wide array of colors, but since I knew I would get a case to protect the outside I went with a white backing (to give some contrast against my case) ibuygou.com was great at fulfilling my color request.
The phone's screen is amazingly sharp - While a little smaller than the HTC One X and the Nexus 4, the picture is stunning and has held up relatively well in sunlight.
Additionally, the front glass is dragontrail glass - an Asian competitor to Gorilla glass. There's a great video of its strength shown on the Mi-2 that was created by ibuygou.com: http://youtu.be/84z_BIrLlp4
While staying on the lockscreen, the MIUI ROM has some great features built in:
1. Access to phone, messaging, and camera directly from the lockscreen
2. Music control via the lockscreen (if music is playing)
3. Holding down the home key turns on the torch light - no need to pass the lockscreen to have a handy flashlight
Inside the phone, MIUI uses a look similar to iPhone w/ no launcher. Being a big android fan, I'm not too big of the ios look, so I added Apex launcher to bring back the app drawer.
While some would question why I am using MIUI and then adding a launcher to change the look of MIUI, I have found that MIUI is very stable, offers many great features, has strong development (new ROMs rolled out weekly), as well as being incredibly stable. One of the features I really enjoy is the toggle screen from the menu bar.
While I never would buy a phone for a music player, I've found MIUI's music player to be a really great. Additionally, the phone has Dolby audio built into which, so far, I have found to be somewhat similar to the beats audio on my HTC One X.
The battery life has been pretty solid (especially coming from the One X) and feel its a bit better than what I was able to achieve on the Nexus 4. Additionally, there is an extended 3100mAh battery available from ibuyghou as well, though it does make the phone a big thicker and adds some weight.
Without the extended battery, I feel the phone is a good weight and, while thicker then my most recent devices, it wasn't too thick. In all, the size and feel of the phone is great. The quality is pretty amazing.
The camera has been pretty solid, though I would probably give the edge to my HTC One X.
All-in-all, the Mi-2 has been a great phone so far that has performed amazing well and definitely recommend it as an option for those looking for a new, top of the line android device at a great price.

It ships with MIUI running off of 4.1.1 and there is supposed to be an update coming through in the next month or so.
My original plans were to run stock android once I received the phone, but given the weekly updates and stability I've had with MIUI, I have not tried out stock as I felt it would be a step back.
As for the stability, I havent had any issues on the current version from miuiandroid.com (MIUI 3.1.25) - This version isnt the official Chinese version, but is a build from a group that supports MIUI outside of China - they turn around the China updates very quickly, address issues, as well as add additional language support. Mi-2 ships w/ Chinese and English only (and the English isn't perfect on the Chinese ROM)
That being said, I havent had any FCs myself.
As for warranty void, I don't believe there is an issue, but you're ROM choices are very limited - It is either a variation on the MIUI ROM or it is the stock JB ROM. Bootloader isn't unlocked so there aren't a ton of choices, but so far I have been enjoying MIUI much more than I had anticipated (with the addition of Apex Launcher).

I own a Mi One myself and have enjoyed using it a great deal, MIUI has some really nice features, the only really let down on the M1 is the camera and the lack of jelly bean so far is a bit annoying.
I had thought about getting a nexus 4 for my next phone just for a change and the fact it has a larger display, but from what I have read the M2 camera seems to actually be superior to the Neuxs 4 so am starting to think that despite the smaller display the M2 might actually be the way to go again.
How would you say the camera compares to the Nexus 4? And how would you say performance compares to the nexus 4 in general ? I have read it has the same sensor as the GS3.

I would say the camera is definitely better than the nexus 4 - overall I prefer the mi-2 over the nexus 4. more memory, bigger battery, resolution is great. the only thing i miss is getting fast updates of stock :/, but I've really come to like miui and is strong development.
There is some reason they send items disguised as gifts, I've heard of places doing it before. I think it may have to do with customs or shipping price.
What I want to know is how is the build quality on this thing? I've been in the market for a high end phone without a gigantic screen and this phone has both of those qualities.

Build quality is great - feels very solid and had a little weight to it. I like the size and feel a lot.

I imagine size is a big factor as the Mi2 has a 4.3" screen and is more compact than the 4.7" Nexus 4.

Hi, You say the bootloader is locked, is there any chance of it being unlocked in near future???
Cause I am using an Atrix 2 now which has a locked bootloader and my sister has Galaxy s Advance, and I am writhing now seeing all the cool custom roms and kernels with unlocked bootloaders!!
Also. How are the VIEWING ANGLES??? It really matters to me. I dont like devices which mess up colours when looked at from angles
(like when put on table top) Which is why I am more inching towards Galaxy S3 or hTC One x...

In all, I do prefer the Mi-2 over the Nexus. More memory (32gb vs 16gb on the Nexus 4,) better battery life, replaceable battery with extended battery option (3100 mAh,) great screen, better camera, and I've come to like MIUI (w/ the addition of Apex launcher)
The miss about the Nexus: slightly bigger screen, stock android updates directly from Google.
We have stock android available from Xiaomi, but it is still 4.1.1 - We'll probably see 4.1.2 sometime after the Chinese New Year.....
The Xiaomi Mi2 is an awesome bang for the buck, but Ibuygou.com is charging a $105 premium to get the phone. If you want a 100% genuine Mi2 and can have it delivered in China for pickup later, then you can go to http://www.xiaomi.com/mi2 and reserve one for 1999 CNY (available after Chinese New Year). My colleague's friend works at Xiaomi and they said Xiaomi is ramping up production for worldwide expansion, so supply shortages should be a thing of the past soon.

The issue is that most people do not have a place in China to have the phone shipped to and then picked-up - While ibuygou charged a premium (as most retailers/resellers do) they were able to ship it to me within the US and shipped the 100% genuine phone.

So, a bit of a backstory: I am still on an AT&T GS4. It is obviously years old, but still chugs along. More hangups now than earlier, but restarting fixes it. My phone is rooted, but no custom ROMs or anything, because locked boot loaders are great like that.
I use Tasker for enough things, AdAway, ClockSync (because I am anal and like "perfect" time), ES File Explorer, Light Flow, TB, and I do have some Xposed modules. Some of my Tasker profiles use Secure Settings. I really did like custom ROMs on my international GS2, and was pretty bummed that this did not have them. I also simply like having full control over my phone. It's my hardware, I want to use it how I please.
I have not purchased a Nexus 6p because it is mostly just too large for me. The S7E might be the biggest I would be comfortable with. At this point, I am looking for opinions on whether I should wait for a possibly new Nexus phone, or pick up this one. I would likely grab the 935F, and not the AT&T variant. Another thing that scares me is warranty, or lack thereof, since I would be buying it from an ebay seller. I've never had a phone with a manufacturer defect or something worth warrantying, but it would suck to have a dead phone and be out ~$700.
Any thoughts/opinions/similar conundrums?
If your really into flashing Roms then yea wait becuase the g4 is still a great phone, but if your like me, I wanted to get away from flashing Roms because it consumes too much of my life the s7e is an awesome phone, I took the plunge with no regrets but if u do buy international spend 80$ more and buy from Amazon or b&h they provide you with 1 yr warranty directly from them so if u do have issues u won't have to try to deal with Samsung

Lol my mistake the g7e is such a vast improvement over the gs4 I personally would definitely take the plunge. I did go with the art varient as I like how cool the sd820 runs it barely even gets warm as well as I wanted volte, wifi calling, and Samsung pay, as the international ones doesn't , but im sure the exynos has a bit better battery life but my sd820 averages 7 sot so I'm not craving more battery

Yea surprisingly I don't care about root anymore, every Android I've owned was rooted but I'm just sick of cat and mouse with rooting flashing Roms I just want to enjoy the phone and i feel Android is finally to a point where I don't need root anymore

This is pretty much where I'm at. I mean, I would probably root if it were an option for adblock without a VPN, but it's not a deal breaker. OEM's have pretty much taken every cool feature that you could only get through a ROM and baked it in their own, so I have no interest in flashing ROM's anymore.
Wait for an unannounced potentially non existent phone (which is rumored to be by HTC), or get a solid option that you can touch, feel, see.
I think it's personal opinion, as far as warranty, you can get square trade warranty I believe it's called. And if it was never registered you could register it via samsung.
Lastly, depends what you want. I want best screen possible and amazing camera. That's s7 edge for me.

I picked up the s7 edge about a week ago, the international 935f. I like the size and weight of the phone. I'm not sure if it's the exynos processor, but it's not as smooth as my Nexus 6p. The camera and battery life are better than the Nexus, not by much. I love my Nexus though and will keep it.

Yeah, I am not sure what to do. I am sure the S7E is a badass phone, but I really want to be able to root it and screw around, if only just because I want the ability to do so.
I went from HTC One m8 (Sense rom, and also used GPE Rom for a while) + user of a Nexus 9, over to the S7 Edge.
Honestly, you can like Stock android as much as you want.. But stuff like Touchwiz (or other versions like sense, LG ui etc) have the one or other really awesome feature, that just simply don't exist on Android.
One of my Favourite features on TouchWiz right now:

Honestly. After i do a Screenshot of a Screen, that is Scrollable (like Internet browser, Facebook posts, Whatsapp chatlog, etc), theres a "+" beside "share" and "delete". If i press the "+", the screenshot-function automatically scrolls down, and does another screenshot. If press + again, it does it a third time.
And it stitches them Together into a sort of "Panorama" screenshot.
In Whatsapp, you have your status bar at the Top, then 2345634 Kilometers Chatlog, and THEN just at the bottom your Text field. The Chat itself is stitched together jsut perfectly.
And if i say perfectly, i literaly mean Pixel-accuracy stitched Together.
my Whatsapp screens only look strange, because of my Background Wallpaper in Whatsapp, that will be "cut". If it were a one-color background, it would be absolutely Perfect.
Cant praise this feature enough, as someone who takes Screenshots here and there.
Stuff like this show me, that it was a right decision to NOT take a nexus. (because, i HAVE experience with Vanilla Android, and i miss NOTHING on Touchwiz. Literaly, Nothing. Not even performance. )

Hmm, interesting. I don't know that it is super important to me to be able to take extremely long screenshots. I only ever take screenshots of the thing I am looking at directly.
True, but sometimes, it's quite handy Like for some conversations, that are 1,5 - 2 screens deep
But that's just one of many...
There is an option, to reset all Settings back, without having to do "Factory Reset" (which will delete all your data). That was handy for me once, while stock android doesnt have that.
The Camera App from Touchwiz is pretty good, and the Pro mode is nice (you can save pictures as RAW while in PRO Mode, or turn the shutter speed up to whole 10 Seconds which is useable because of the very good OIS).
Well, in the End, my Preferences won't be an Argument for YOUR preferences. If you love stock android, then waiting for the next Nexus might be worth for you.
But i think, the S7 is a damn good piece of hardware, with a really really not bad Software. You could still use Nova Launcher or something, and maybe a Material Theme, and you'll be noit that far away from a stock android experience. But still have some nice features (+ the awesome hardware)

I've never even used pure, stock Android before. Never had a Nexus. I don't have an issue with Touchwiz either, as I would already use Apex/Nova as my launcher anyway. The phone/software itself is great, I am positive. My issue is the locked down environment of it. I want to be able to tinker, and Samsung does not want that.
In a geeks opinion, if you're really into exploring and having fun with that device, I would suggest a Nexus device,it'd be first one to receive updates, Samsung series are good and eye candy, but what they lack is update, late updates and sometimes no update at all. Any ways if brand really matters I suggest go for Samsung, otherwise for full potential use Nexus

I certainly do like the idea, and would have purchased a 6p when it came out, but it is just too damned big for my hands, unfortunately. I essentially have to decide if I want to wait until November or not.

I think Elephone is going very fast with ROMs for the P9000. For the moment there is no 100% stable and working ROM: not even the stock official one.
So yes, thanks for the effort with porting Nougat, but I hope it is not going to be part of the "almost ready" list.

You just summed up my frustrations with this phone. Plenty of projects, none of which are stable.
Side note: I hope they get rid of that terrible bin icon in the task switcher.

I bought this phone because it is powerful and very low price. I was of course aware of the poor ROM support, but I thought at the moment that it was only a matter of time: Elephone said that they were going to release the kernel, and there was that first preliminary port of CM13.
Now not a single ROM works. I am very interested in CM13, but the development is stopped for a time already. I would like to help (I have wide experience in developing, although never with android), but I can't even post in CM13 thread because my account is too young yet. Aaargh.
Well, I guess best strategy for the moment is simply to wait.
and here i was about to start looking into porting the jiayu s3 7.0 build, think ill just wait for the official version
also im not sure what issues people are facing that are that bad with the current CM13 build. ill admit there are a few bugs on mine, HDR photos crash the app, GPS is horribly inaccurate and all over the place despite all attempts to fix it (almost certainly down to the hardware at this point) and the proximity sensor can be a bit dodgy often leading to you pressing buttons with your face while in call, but this may be worse than it really is due to the rather cracked and battered screen protector thats on it. other than that its been a perfectly functional daily driver for me.

I think the problem is also we, the end user. I'm pretty sure a normal person would never think about buying this phone, most people tend to buy the phones they know by name: Samsung, HTC, LG...Tell someone you know you have an Elephone, they don't know what you mean.
People in this sub forum usually know why they bought the P900 and what they had to expect. Look at the phones I had: I knew this phone couldn't be complete software wise and I bought it in hope that CM13 makes it complete and even if it would work I knew I wouldn't get 100% satisfied. Honestly, I'm surprised how good Deepflex made my experience with his CM13 port but for now in this state of development of all roms (and even stock) it's the confirmation I wanted from the beginning: this phone is cheap for a reason and it will never be as good as 400$+ phones, no matter how many roms the devs will release here and even IF Nougat drops you won't be getting this "full experience" you wanted.

With all due respect, I think it is very unfair to blame the consumer for the failures of this device. It's advertised on Amazon as being "smooth and stable" and that just isn't true.
Elephone have decided to make the priority sales numbers rather than happy customers and it's likely going to result in the failure of the company as their brand develops a bad name.
While the adoption of this device seems to be successful, the failing user experience is what will prevent any possibility of loyal customers. Development malpractices such as releasing a "stable" CM 13 ROM which doesn't detect a large number of working SIM cards is straight up deceitful to customers. I would go as far as to say false advertising is taking place.

I do not have an Elephone (yet?) only experience with other China phone. So bear with me if I talk nonsense.
I thought my Zenfone fo example is not really worse than Samsung and Co. It's just that Samsung is much bigger and developer support much better. So it's actually not Samsung delivering a solution for a problem.
Another issue is the "update" pattern by Google. How can a firmware mature if Google publishes new versions often?

I disagree with everyone here. The hardware in the P9000 is easily comparable to its Samsung counterpart. At a quarter of the price tag. The trade off? Bad software (easily overcome thanks to Jonny, deepflex, skeleton1911, and others), and bad customer service. Again. Easily overcome. As far as android N, I will wait until cm14 and enjoy beta testing with the 2nd elephone I buy with all the money I saved by not buying a Samsung and risking it exploding in my pocket.
I'm a slightly more normal user - I don't mod phones anymore, and am content to just use them, too much else to do.
But I have to disagree with a lot of the negativity here: My P9000 is a great phone - very rarely crashes, works well and reliably, and has received many ROM updates. The camera is good enough, the GPS works well enough, better in HERE than Google maps, battery could be better, but I get a day out of it, so that's about average. My previous phone was a P8(?), which was rubbish, prior to that I had a Nokia N8, which was great, but I kept killing the camera module and the earpiece through shock and dust damage. I'm hard on on phones, they get dropped and exposed to dust and moisture. The P9000 has taken it all and not even stuttered.
And now it's getting nougat? Well done elephone, better support than a LOT of manufacturers. Do they still make the P9000? If they could sort out Androidpay then I'd consider the phone faultless.

I have to agree with Wildefalcon.
I am also a "normal" user. I have previously had Star and Zopo phones which were not great and never received any updates.
We must have had 3 or 4 updates so far, with Nougat to come.
After my experience with my previous phones, this is beyond my expectations!
I have found the GPS and camera to be okay and yes, I would like to have Android Pay too.
The one disappointment I have had was with the faulty sim tray which caused the sim cards to log out. Neither the seller nor Elephone were prepared to replace it free of charge and I ended up paying US$10 for a replacement.
Overall, I think for the price, including the additional $10, this is an excellent phone.
I appreciate others may have had problems and perhaps I have just been lucky.
