Samsung TechTile NFC Tags - Galaxy S III General (US Carriers)

So my local Sprint store had some Samsung "TechTile" NFC tags to use with their app. So I bought some (15$ for 5 tags) and took them home, and immediatley erased them via nfc app on my phone, and reprogrammed them with the same app and it works like a charm. The thing that bugs me about the phone is having to unlock the home screen to scan NFC tags. which sucks but oh well.

Have you checked out the nfc screen off mods? Not sure if it works on the US Variant but check out the thread over at the S3 boards.

No, it borks my NFC completely...although it wouldn't be hard to adapt to our phones, as its just adjusting the power settings for nfc...

i was thinking about picking up a pack but from what ive read the ones on amazon are the same thing without the branding

I got my 5 pack from tags for droids. Was about $10 bucks.

amazon everything lol

what are the offbrand ones called on amazon? do they program/work in the same way?

just type in nfc tags...i forget the brand but theres only like 2 choices. To answer your other question I think you just need an nfc programmer app

Yeah, I bought some Tagsfordroid (Shameless plug, Tagsfordroid.com) 15.99 for 10 tags and a keychain thingy.
And they're made by a fellow XDA'er.

Sorry, but what are these good for?
Absolutely nothing?

So, anytime you wanna charge the phone, it would open Maps and you would have to close the Maps?

More like you can tag it to turn on Bluetooth when you get in the car and turn it off when you get out. Or turn on wifi when you get home by scanning a tag on your front door.

Pardon me, but none of those activities are practical.
I'd like to turn on and off wifi when I enter and leave my home. But a Tasker script would be better.

that's up to you then....i have many uses for this personally

To set your Alarm and make sure the volume is up, when you set your phone on your night stand is a very good idea. No effort and you'll always be good to go. We are human!

GPS without GPS hardware

Anybody know of any products that will run without the hardware? just over WAP/GPRS?
RAC does a system called trackm8 but it costs about £500 to set up then £150 a year. It is so cheap to add a gps to your xda, I have seen TOMTOM3 with gps selling for just over £100.

Where did I park my car?

I tried searching, but without any luck. Does anyone know of a program that you press a button when you leave your car and then use the GPS to later locate your car? My 8125 is dieing and can't wait to get the Touch Pro.
Greg
Save the location of your car to your favourite locations on the GPS program (TomTom or whatever you using). Then you can find it.
Cool...that will work.
No2Chem started building an app specifically for that. I never tried it, and I don't think it is still be actively developed, but it should do exactly what you are asking for. Just another option.

Arrfffffff...But with the GPS lag and some approximative positionning on the Diamond and the Touch Pro, don't play with that on a IKEA Parking, because you can turn during hours around your car and the shop will be closed before you find it away...

I would use it for parking at concerts and sporting events. After too much alcohol I may not remember exactly where I parked my car.

what you need is gPC from extreme-apps.com
Huge downside is that you have to pay for it :\
I am looking for something like gPC that is freeware but if you dont mind paying you should look it up.
by acceleration are you meaning like 0-60

Cant you just use a stop watch in conjunction with the speedo then work it out?? I would think that using a GPS application will give you sketchy results at best?
you can get gps performance by searching on google you'll find a torrent of files there.
is it just me that GPC application can't get along well with HD2? I setup the trial version but I can't press any of the icons on the bottom. Only X button on top right works.

Thanks for the tip. This is an amazing program, it well deserves the money. First license is 15 euros though, not 7.5 euros as someone said before.

Google Ears

So reviews had this available and even accessible as a lock screen widget, but my N4 doesn't have it at all.

It's handy. But I wish it would keep a history like similar apps do, e.g. Shazam and Soundhound. That and the lack of sharing features.

The `paying for an app`you refer to is a gratification and recognition to a dev who builds, develops and maintains that app for free for as long as you use it bro and that for a small price.
