[DEV] [Q] Who wants RA-Mod?

Firstly, let me introduce myself! I'm pixdev (Jamie), web/game developer and one of the developers over at RA-Mod (I did the website).
What is RA-Mod?
RA-Mod is a custom CM7-based ROM designed to be socially-aware, beautiful, fast and powerful - yet simple to use. We offer a tightly integrated package, with a custom launcher, reworked UI's, extended device settings and a Software Centre called Pyramid, giving you access to the latest themes, tweaks and apps. Consider it CyanogenMod for the rest of us!
Why are you telling me this?
RA-Mod is currently being developed for the Samsung Galaxy 3 (XDA link), which I own. While working on RA-Mod, we thought it would be a good idea to expand RA-Mod to other devices and I remembered that I still had my first Android phone, the LG Optimus GT540, lying around somewhere...
I then messaged Dympy (RA-Mod founder), asking if he wanted a GT540 port - I think you can guess the reply...
OSSIM! What happens now?
It would really help me out if I knew who wants RA-Mod for the GT540, so I can judge if the port is viable or not. Before I even commit to the port, I want to make it known I have schoolwork etc., so I cannot guarantee ETAs etc. However, I'll try my best to get it out as soon as possible...
I haven't looked in the GT540 forums for a while, so I don't know the current state of ROMs on here. I understand there is a fully-working CM7 port - does anyone know if this is open to people modifying and redistributing (like the G3 CM7 port)? I don't want to tread on anybody's toes by using their work when they don't want me to. Of course, I'll fully credit the author(s?) of it

You should pm miroslav about that, his cm7 is most complite.
And yes, we are interested to try any new rom.

No reply off miroslav, I'll try mur4ik now.
only difference between the 2 is cm version. miro's 7.2 and mur4ik's 7.1 and graphics performance
Quick announcement: RA-Mod for GT540 is going to be based on mur4ik's build!
There is now a GT540 section on the RA-Mod forums - http://ramod.x10.mx/forum/viewforum.php?f=11
now waiting

Those were pretty major bugs, and cross-chip winzip ports ALWAYS fail to go much further than "boots to lockscreen".

I like how they're doing that. As soon as you see a progress for exynos-device, they bash it for nothing.

The irony is that the supposed "pure" rom we have on the i9505 is not even pure google but a debloated TW ROM. So why do people even fight?

If no one word do that, the rom won't appear magically like you seem to think.
CM aren't working on it, fine but let other do something for the 9500.

DSIXDA Android Kitchen Support? Aroma support?

As of yesterday i have officially gotten the Galaxy Note 3 in my hands! With that being said i am now going to start development and try and get an awesome ROM out to you guys! Before i start i must know if DSIXda's android kitchen works with this device. And also if Aroma Installer is supported with this device. Really looking forward to start development and get a few Roms out there for you guys but i gotta know this first. Also feel free to let me know what you would like to see in a ROM, especially what kind of theme. My ROMs do have a history of having some kick a** sound mods in them so do expect that!
What was wrong with the first thread you started about this?

Why wouldnt you just build and test?
Same with Aroma.
Why not just try it?

Well whenever you spend a good bit of $$ on a device and you just "play" around with it.. its not worth just trying without having knowledge because i dont want to lose an expensive device lol.

well, your reasoning might be good. Is it the Samsung crapware on the bootloader? I am not being funny, it's just that your answer was very brief and I couldn't see whether you had done any dev work on your member profile. If you have a particular and valid reason I would be interested because I am just learning and atm trying to figure out how to complile a cm11 for n3 9005 model.

I'm a note 2 device maintainer for aokp but that's irrelevant. Locked bootloader + no way to flash kernels + no loki/kexec type option = no aosp roms of any kind. Don't waste your time.

LG Official 4.4 build info?

http://www.zpsjbbs.com/thread-6172-1-1.html
Looks like LG is busy building 4.4 out.
I am searching for a beta that I can download and convert for ROM for us to use...
Thanks to Chippah for Droid-Life news post for pointing out article.
If anyone can read Chinese or figure out how to download the KDZ please let me know
We've known about this for a while now. The site is a pay site. The Rom is Korean. I'm not sure if it was helpful or not. I remember reading somewhere that it wasn't helpful for porting to other devices. Especially since this is a few weeks old and I haven't heard any more movement on it or any breakthroughs in KitKat porting.

I am sure it can be ported since release Korean ROMs were ported to to other G2 models without any major issues.

Sharing is caring...Isn't that the whole point of XDA...
If he was so worried about losing his job than maybe he should have not sent it out
If you want to keep it to yourself for whatever reasons that is fine.
I was just looking for a few files too see if the compass issue on the 4.4 builds could be fixed...
Can you at least post the lib, etc and vendor folders?
StarFighter said:
Pretty sure that'd not what the person who gave it to us looses his job because we sent it out thinks. If someone trusts us why break that? And no XDA does have a limit about sharing cause I'm using a ROM I haven't even shared.

+1000.. If he was worried about losing his job, he wouldn't send it it.. If u were to ask me OP,I personally think starfighter and whoever else has it doesn't want to share as they want the prestige of building the first official/unofficial ROM... It's not worth arguing with them.. It's hard to explain sharing to a 17 year genius ... I'm not gonna argue more as it will turn into a personal slugging match.. Back to work now..

I am willing to bet $100 he does not even have it but the only way he can prove it that he does is to post the file to verify
Some people are just like that. If that Korean site is a paid site and you need to pay for the download link than I will and post it up for all to share
It was hard to understand even with Google Translate so will look at it more tonight.

We are indeed working on a stock 4.4 build. We are running into issues getting it to boot. We've enlisted a few other devs to lend us a hand.
So why not post it up so more devs can try to fix it up? If you guys are going to post it anyway why not have others try too?

People tend to forget there are a lot more people with knowledge about developing and fixing roms. But most of them have a job and can't update a rom like Starlighter. There is simply no time for that. But they can help out fixing a KDZ base (Korean/verizon).
When it's available for everyone with knowledge it will be booting a lot faster.

It is still early. Give the devs some time. They are working on Aosp. We will get many of them soon. Once the bump tool will be avalible(thanks to team Code fire for that) development will shift up. Nexus 6 will have too many aosp however too big for my taste.

You should've also seen that we've pretty much only just had the bootloader "bumped" and we've gotta wait until the devs of that let us know how to "bump" a custom kernel. Until then we can only flash stock based roms with the stock kernel, so there's no real chance of anything aosp happening (that isn't tethered, anyway) until then
