Are we getting ics? - myTouch 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is this model to old or are we getting it? No hacks
Sent from my HTC Glacier using Tapatalk

Or can someone direct me to were I can find out?
Sent from my HTC Glacier using Tapatalk

No, a simple Google search would have saved the good people of the mytouch 4g at xda the pain of having to see this redundant thread, search and read. READ I cannot stress that enough seeing as how you refer to rooting, and modifying as ā€¯Hacks"

1. you can edit your posts, you dont need to double-post
2. you definetly didnt need a new thread because this information is found all over XDA and the internet
3. there are plenty of ICS ROMs being developed for this phone. built straight from AOKP source, AOSP source, ports, Sense based, MIUI based..
you, sir, are the noobies noob out of all of the noobie noobs ive come across

Create 2 Forums Idea

So I am one for organization when it comes to the Internet.
And I just thought to create seperate forums, one being for 2.1 roms and the second for 2.2 roms.
This would clear up the forums seeing that they are clustered with both rom types, also it would allow questions, ideas for development, or etc to be discussed.
Any Input?
Once froyo hits, we won't see anymore 2.1 roms. I doubt the mods would take the time to sort the threads out.
What we need is a q&a section for questions like the other phones have. This would clear up slot of ****.
You also like organization why don't you check out the wiki. For the epic

And I do use the wiki, and that is a very useful tool, however when looking through the forums it can be confusing at times.

There is no difference between kkrraazzyy's thread and misledz thread....No sense for the new thread...except you get some posts! LOL!
Off topic:- Anti-virus ronhoover88 can do nothing to virus nightwish sgsl! Unless he becomes a mod!
@Ron you are my hero LOL. I was about to throw down some rage on this. Then I realized you did too.
@Night, I don't intend to sound harsh but this is getting somewhat out of hand. There's a reason why common topics get bumped up and why certain threads are stickied. If you will post a new topic for every single concern, You will only make yourself unwelcome to answers. Start with looking at the board index, I doubt you need a search feature to see "Deodex" when it's clearly there in the first page.

[OFFTOPIC] Bugless Pete's ROM thread locked

I have seen it all. An admin locked his thread for not listing baseband and Android version. The Android version is on the thread title
Ruffmeister - bouncing off cell towers with SDK Ice Cream Sandbitch - Yawn!
BTW the ICS thread has no more information than this thread..

Might as well tell the best devs to go elsewhere.

I'm just sayin.
Lovin the rom btw
Perfectly cromulent ;p

I saw this earlier, such crap. The admin claims that XDA members needed to register to see the link at his site, but not once did I register and I saw any link I wanted on his site. What a joke.
Wow, I have never had to register to pull anything from his download page. Why isn't the 4G thread shut down. They are basically the same thing?
Sent from my Nexus S 4G
This is complete bs, Bugless Pete is one of the best developers out there and doesn't deserve this. All the information the mod wants is in the thread...not to mention the title, his github, and website which btw you don't have to register to use. It's kinda ironic considering the thread the mod links to in his signature which proclaims such things as "XDA IS a place to come to learn and share your knowledge. If you are not here for those reasons then you are here for the wrong ones." "XDA is a developers site" "XDA is and always will be about the developers." ...just like Rem3Dy said...might as well tell the best devs to go elsewhere.
Kinda glad the xda staff are slowly ruining the site..... rootzwiki ftw

Yep. And if you are referring to the ROM in the general discussion, you have to register @ androidcentral to download it.
On Pete's site he tells you that you can get his ROM from ROM manager, toolbox, etc.

Please provide more detailed info.............link to your site is fine as long as XDA members do not have to register for a link.
Ex:
Changelogs
Basebands
Android version
so on.
Till then thread is locked and links removed

I am a bit confused.....
The link to my site does not require registering, its a free open blog (made with blogger).
Changelog can be seen on my site, github, and I mention what changed in post as I update.
Basebands are not included in ROMs.
Android version is in the title of my thread.
Now that my thread is locked I can not edit it, so how do I get my thread unlocked?

What happened to contacting you first to address the issue instead of just locking it. Not that there is any issues, that I can see. I feel like they didn't handle this very professionally on the side of moderation.

Is it possible to get a refund on the xda premium app? I'm too old for this power trip BS.
Sent from my Nexus S 4G using xda premium
I also checked two or three other ROM threads and they either don't have a change log listed or else a baseband listed. If you're going to lock threads at least be consistent. Seems like a witch hunt.
edit: The more I look into this the more upsetting it is. I see at least 2 threads in development that don't even deal with the ROM development, just discussion about them. Shouldn't they be in general discussion? Hell CyanogenMod doesn't even list a baseband. /rant

ICS on NS4G

I noticed that even though the ICS source code is now available Google only has Android 2.3.7 drivers for the Nexus S 4G's internal hardware (CDMA/WiMAX, Orientation Sensor, etc) available currently. Is it possible to compile a working version of ICS using the Android 2.3.7 drivers for the Nexus S 4G? Also, if I follow Google's compile instructions to the letter is there an easy way to backup my current stock ROM? Google's official stock ROM's for the Nexus S 4G phone has a script called "install-recovery.sh" that runs on boot removing Clockwork. Am I correct in assuming that ICS would do this if I compiled it myself per Google's instructions and flashed it to my phone?

This isn't dev section material... And there are already working builds of ics if you don't want to go through the hassle of doing it yourself...
Although! If you do compile your own, then post it in our lovely dev section.
Follow the leader @corythug
I'd rather compile my own. As stated in my original post I just need a couple of questions answered first. Otherwise there won't be any new ROM's from me in your so-called lovely dev section.
This will be moved once a mod sees it, but, next time know this. People will be more apt to help you out if you put a thread like this in q& a or even maybe general instead of mucking up dev forum with a non dev thread.
Follow the leader @corythug

OP, I apologize for the others lack of decorum on this site. I am afraid that I am not much help, but I have a couple of suggestions:
As far as the backup, you can make a nandroid and once you are done playing around you can reboot into the boot loader and use the fastboot to reload the recovery onto the phone. From there you can re-install the nandroid backup. Keep in mind that you might want to copy the backup off of the SD card just in case you need to lock/unlock the phone. (This erases the sd card.)

There's only one rom and its the one in the dev section. Flash it and read before posting. Also, if you ask about the camera I may have to kill you.

I wouldn't recommend an ics rom yet unless you have no need for a camera our video camera. I don't believe flash is working right either. I may be wrong about that though. I would suggest unity, Cm7, our miui for rooms to try out until a solid release of ics is available.

And "everyone is leaving this forum" is a bland, non-backed-up-by-anything, and most probably wrong assumption.

This forum is a resource, not a help line..you don't call up the folks at wikipedia and go "quick, i have a report due, tell me what happened in ww2!"
They did the research to help narrow your information search to a single forum, the last you can do is understand that unless you are developing new applications or roms or working on a brand new device that your question has already been asked and the onus is on you to actually read the encyclopedia and to write your own report..no one is going to write your report for you, especially not the editors of the encyclopedia..it is gracious that some of these questions even get replies, even if they are flaming you for asking without searching..imo fwiw

At least SAY 'I've looked everywhere! Can you point me to an answer for...' Even if you haven't looked, at least pretend to know how to use a search bar..these things have been around for over a decade lmao you might get help for a dumb question and not get flamed if you at least lie and say you searched
Also, no one likes dumb people or dumb questions, it isn't a trait unique to developers on xda, even though I've encountered my share of smart asses, the fount of knowledge here far exceeds any petty squabble i might get into..if something like that makes you leave the site then it's more your loss than xda's, you are really only useful to the community if you can debug or develop, they are doing us a favor by letting us muggles into their world of fairy dust and unicorns lmao
