7" Android 4.0.3 (ICS), 8gb, capacitive IPS screen, $129.99 - Member-Found Deals

I bought another tablet from this seller awhile ago (see the review here) and when I wanted to order another one for my wife, I was told they were out but getting a new, and improved model. They emailed and let me place the order of off the old link and the new tablet I just got is AWESOME!!! My wife is getting the old one - lol.
Android 4.0.3, pre-rooted, aluminum case, screen you can view from pretty much any angle, 8gb storage, 512mb RAM, mini HDMI out, charges via USB and the included proprietary charger (USB is a bit slower, but works. This is huge for me so I can use it with one of the many external portable battery chargers I have), USB host cable included (works perfectly with my Oyen 750gb portable hard drive). This thing is the sh!t!!
Installed the patched hulu and netflix apps from XDA and both work great! Overclocks to 1.4GHz no prob (faster will crash it) UPDATE: seems 1.2 is the most stable speed, but it's still the best bang for the buck I've found. I have a few tablets (xoom, coby, and a few other generic tablets) and this one is my new favorite.
Here's the link to the listing for the new tablet (I told them I would pass it on and they gave me $5 back - great company): http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007TQP7L0/ref=sc_pgp__m_A76FR6O1NBAXV_1?ie=UTF8&m=A76FR6O1NBAXV&n=&s=&v=glance
If anyone finds any cool ROMS for this let me know (not sure if there'd be any out for it yet though, I haven't found any)
Video of it running Netflix:

Short video review:

does the tablet play nice with market apps? any videos of this bad boy in action?

Came with Google Play store installed and I haven't had any issues installing apps. I'll try to get a video done tonight and maybe some pics too.

Not bad, but a pretty low res screen for a tablet 800x480. Besides for that the rest of the hardware isnt bad for that price, has decent expandability options and comes pre rooted.

How can the response times be any slower on the touchpad then this and after a few more updates to ics its gonna prob fix those.
I just think the advantages the touchpad has from the gig of ram to the screen size and resolution make it worth the extra 30 bucks lol
Plus it has another 8 gigs of storage

If you were referring to my post I meant the tablet the OP posted has really slow response time when he shifted the tab and the screen took about 5 seconds to respond to the change

It was slow because I was holding it flat, facing up towards the camera. It's super snappy when holding it in front of you in a normal position. Almost flat on it's back isn't the best way to get the screen rotation to respond...

transformer the way to go?

I know that I want an Android tablet. absolutely love this OS.
my questtion...is the transformer good for me?
I travel a lot....live tinkering with the software with Android development. other than that I need it for watching movies and videos and surfing the web. love the SDcard slot. thanks all!
Sent from my PC36100 using Tapatalk
you cant watch 720p videos. well you can hardware encode it but no sound, software encode is laggy.
thats about it. everything else is great. theres a GREAT deal around TigerDirect @ eBay right now
about ~$480 for 32GB + headphones ($90) + SD Card.. if you want it, then get it. deal ending soon
so when you say no sound...it doesn't play 720 videos that well overall?
Sent from my PC36100 using Tapatalk
With 3.1 it plays tons of videos without issue. 720 specifically, I have not tried but I've seen plenty of videos showing that it can since 3.1 was released. I love my transformer and highly recommend it.

3.1 plays High profile 720P without any issue at all.....
you need to look at the codec for the audio stream if you are not getting any sound.. for example, AC3 is not supported by hardware encode.
I'd go for something else. I've had the TF for aweek and it's nothing but a headache. The browser is unreliable. It'll open new tabs when you click a link, when you wanted it in the same tab. It crashes if you try to o anything quickly, like open a tab you just closed. Tex t input (like this comment) is painfully laggy with the dock. Don't get me started on the dock. the functionkeys are silly (3 keys for screen brightness? caps lock? ) and sometimes stop working for no reason. It's a pain to get it all the way in, to the point where I thought mine was broken because I hadnt pressed it down all the way.
The remote desktop software is just bad.

All tablets use the same ROM of Stock Honeycomb. GT will include their TouchWiz in a future OTA. So... it won't be much different.
All of the tablets are pretty similar. I personally love it, go to a store or something and try it out.

I have the TF101 32gb, Flyer 32gb, iPad 64gb. After my first real week traveling with TF101, it had amazing battery with keyboard dock, great using Evernote for meetings, and loaded 12 movies on 64GB SD card for viewing 720 movies... great little device with a few ticks here and there but overall happy with it.

1. I travel a lot - The TF is quite slim and lightweight, good battery life too, ideal.
2. Tinkering/development - I'd say it's the ideal tablet on that front too, a well supported dev section.
3. Watching movies - As good as any other Android tablet by the looks of it.
4. Surfing the web - Yep, it'll do that, with flash too.
It's a well priced tablet in comparison, has some QC issues but for the price ...
ya get the TF and dock it ownz, use it constantly and was a great vacation gadget
Battery life is king for travelers!
From what you describe I would have thought that the extra battery life granted by the dock is a major selling point for you. I particularly like the intelligent battery handling between the dock and tablet.
Hardware performance wise I don't think you'll find a huge range of difference between the honeycomb tablets - unless 3G is important to you.
I found the easiest way to choose was to head down to the local store and try them all out. Personally I find the TF really comfortable to handle - but that comes down to personal preference.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0

Hello Galaxy Tab Plus forum!
I'm interested in purchasing this tablet and I was wondering, is this the right forum for the tablet? If not, can someone direct me to the correct one?
Thank you in advance!
Picked one up myself (great device for the money). There is no specific forum or root method yet.
good day.
seems like quite a few on ebay. Including w/3G. all selling for under $300. Appear to be from good sellers too. Hmmm.
Havent found anywhere else advertising the 3G model. under $300 for a dual-core 7" ICS phone, not too shabby.
edit: that 3g model may be incorrectly posted on ebay.
Chiming in to say hi as well. Picked up my Tab 2 7.0 on opening day and have been very happy with it. Be nice if it catches on and we get a kick-ass dev community behind it!
i think the '3G' model you see on eBay is probably the Tab 7 Plus...which is a pretty good deal if it is brand new...
i picked up my Tab2 on Sunday morning from BB....really great device for the price...
yes, looking forward to some rooting as well
The requirements for my tablet had to be cheap and powerful, yet not gigantic. I wanted something I could browse the internet with without breaking out the 15 inch laptop. I love how it runs ICS stock too.
FYI I have some dead pixels on mine! Actually it's as if someone had some light on their fingertips & wiped it on the screen (it's not dirt or smudges on the screen). It's strange. I am sending it in under warranty so hopefully I'll get it back soon! Check all of your screens out (get an all black screensaver).
I did notice that the Tab 2 lags on quite some games I have tried. Temple run is one of them so its not for casual gaming.

The first one I got at BestBuy had a dead pixel and loose volume rocker. I took it back for exchange and opened before I left the store. They brought out two, opened them up and both had dead pixels! Finally they brought out #4 and it had a perfect screen. The dead pixels were black, easily visible on a white background.

I'm kinda nervous now. I was planning on buying mine on Amazon, but now I'm not so sure. I don't want to have to deal with sending it back through the mail and waiting for days.
Hmm mine has opposite of dead pixels then! On a black background smudges of light come through!
I'd go ahead and get one from amazon. They are quick with exchanges and replacements. Speak to customer service and ask them to cross ship if you need to.

My Galaxy Tab 2 7.0, doesn't lag on games. I got it on opening day and have been running, temple run and n64oid on it. Its been fine. I haven't tried Shadowgun yet, but it should run alright. If it can run good on my old Kindle Fire, it can run smooth on the tab 2.
My 2 7.0 tab shows 4.2GB available on tablet and not 8GB. I am sure this is normal, but just checking. Can someone confirm the same?
Thx...
Yes 4gb for me too. Also i just played Shadowgun...its smooth during gameplay but it crashed twice.

I found a new bug. While watchin a movie stream from Google movies, i hit the volume rocker and the video turns black and the audio stutters. The volume bar appears sometimes but if it does, it doesnt move when i hit the volume. If i do this too much, my whole device reboots. This happens on a fresh out of the box device with nothing else installed. It continues to happen even after i update the Play Movies software. Does not happen while streaming youtube.
Can anyone else see if this happens to them as well before i return this device a 2nd time?

Was a 4gb sd card supposed to come with this tablet? Mine also reads 4gb.
The user partition is only 4.2gb. That's the size of the volume mounted under /sdcard. The entire drive itself is 8gb, but ~4gb is in the seperate root partition of the drive firmware and recovery. This is true with most phones and tablets, a section of it is reserved for operating system use.
I picked up a 32gb class 10 microsd for $20 USD from NewEgg. Cheap and easy enough to add extra storage.
--------
Anyone know when we get our own forum/cat? It would be helpful to further development on this tab.
I use this as a deskclock and "wake up to lazy to get out of bed and go to my computer desk to check news" device. Would like root to run clocksync automatically to sync to atomic time.
-------
Anyone notice the distinct lack of the standard android Clock / DeskClock application? Nowhere. Trying to push a apk from CM9 of it over ADB resulting in it saying it was already there and such which is funny as there's no shortcuts to it.

That's a diction error, at the most. And you should be able to let that slide seeing as capacitive screen technology rely on capacitance theories.

I am going to be letting my 4 year old use it so she will leave my Asus Prime and my wife's iPad alone. I am interested to see if there will be any development support for this device it uses a pretty common CPU and form-factor.

I was wondering about development too. It is really what is stopping me from picking up one.
i saw a video on youtube of the location where they develop the actual chip, can't say it instilled a lot of hope.
At worst flash a different rom and do a little cleanup and its good to go.
OK I'm 2 hours in and i have ran into a few issues. First of all the stock software is horrible. they load a bunch of weird stuff on to it before they ship them out. While my daughter was playing Bouncy Mouse it locked up the screen went non responsive and the music continued. I had to hard reset it buy long pressing the power button for 15 seconds. at that point i figured what the hell. ias soon as it came up i reset it back to its factory setting. this seems to have improved it a bit. we will see. I will keep you all posted.
that just makes me more worried, lol
maybe you'll have some luck with a different rom.
Well resetting it helped a ton. You have to more sure you don't try and over work it. I kissed mx player onto it and it plays video flawlessly. Netflix works great. I am very happy with it.

MK802+ Android Stick $39.99 with free shipping!

I found the MK802+ for $39.99 with free shipping!
http://www.geekbuying.com/item/In-S...GB-RAM-4GB-ROM--Better-Than-MK802-307558.html
Android 4.0
Allwinner A10 w/ Mali400
4GB Storage
1GB of ram
802.11 b/g/n
It comes with:
HDMI cable
USB cable
AC adapter
English Manual
It also includes some bonus items:
4-port usb hub
usb 3d sound adapter
This is a very good price for the MK802. Even better when you consider the extras.
I'm buying one to have around as an extra dual booting android/linux box.
(I already own 1 mk802, several UG802, and 1 MK808.)
I've been interested in these for a while, and I have been waiting for this price point. How do they work? Do they do everything your phone/tablet can do. I would be interested if it could play a game like Batman The Dark Knight Rises Game (or something as intensive). Also how does something like Onlive work? Any browser crashes?

Thats a really good price considering they give you some nice accessories to go with it. You could attach it to a monitor and keyboard/mouse and have a really cheap thin client desktop running Android.
Any one else notice the Engrish on that page, "Get this MK802+ NOW,Throw your Dumb TV!!"
Not sure how well this would work if I throw my TV.
Decided to go ahead and get 2 of these. Basically give someone a cheap computer for mostly browsing and email. Very portable.
There are some bad reviews online with that seller, they say do not purchase from them and they are affiliated with some other stores bad stores as well.

Personally I've not had any problems with geekbuying.com, but as always if you're not comfortable then don't order from them.
You're more likely to get what's described from them than you are from a random aliexpress seller.
IMHO many bad reviews for chinese sellers are for cheap tablets. People expect way too much out of those tablets.
I bought a wireless mouse/keyboard which is recommended with it and it worked at first but the mk802 won't see it now. I've also tried 3 or 4 wireless mice with most not working. Is that normal?

just got my 2 today. a first there was a wifi lag problem but after fixing that everything working great. youtube and netflix working perfect. would be nice to have bluetooth on this but other then that it would just fine. also they sent me my order twice so instead of just getting 2 I got 4 of these for $75. Was $80 but use the $5 code. so 4 of these for $75 can't beat. 1 for my mom; 2 for the kids and 1 for me. Saved me form having to buy tablets.
zaiaku: why don't you tell them that?
just loaded jellybean on this thing and it's great. out the box everything works great but don't expect much of a wifi strenght from this thing. Most phones have a much better range. After putting jellybean on it definitely worth it. Smoother, more responsive; more options. no change in netflix but much more control in youtube.
Is it easy to put jb on this? Is it rooted your device?
Can anyone tell me if IP can works full screen on this ?

Very easy. From everything I ever had to root and flash this was very very simple. I did the first one and my 10yo daughter did 2 of the other ones. Takes around 5min from start to boot.

Can you use a usb mouse or keyboard with this? Seems like the perfect thing to add to one of my HDTVs. Plus thats really cheap.

Yes you can use a usb mouse and key board or use a bluetooth dongle and use bluetooth which is what I'm doing now. So far the only problem I've seen with this thing is the range from the router. My phones and tablets and computer have a much larger range then this.

Makes sense, its hard to fit a decent sized antenna in there, and at $40 I doubt the money is spent engineering a great antenna setup like inside phones. There are USB to ethernet adapters out there that work with Android, I wonder if external USB wireless adapters would work.
Sounds great!
That looks like an awesome deal! Definitely planning to give it a try. Thanks OP

[Q] So how are you guys holding up with 8gb?

I'm debating weather to get the 8 or 16 gig. I'm meaning toward the 8 because I'm on a budget. But I was wondering how you guys/gals that's have the 8 are doing on space. How much space is actually available on the phone?

So you have the 8gb? And if so are you regretting it. I'm not much of a gamer on the phone.

As for running out, it depends on YOU . Will you stream music, or keep it on your device? Will you keep movies on it (this I personally think is stupid because I can never enjoy a movie on a less than 60" of screen)? Will you play heavy 3D games, or just the light casual games like Subway Surfer or Bike Race? Even Dead Trigger is only 130MB of space, some games like Asphalt 7 take a whopping 2GB.
Also, if you plan on taking full advantage of the camera's 1080p video recording and like to take lots of 8mp stills, or photospheres, then you'd need to transfer all those to your computer rather requently to save space.
Just my $.02

I have all my apps on the phone including some games, titanium backup, a few roms , 4/5 pinned albums in google music (rest i stream) , i have aokp build nov 26th installed (which is a bit smaller i believe) and I have 4.12 gb remaining.
More than enough for my personal needs. Guess it depends on the person.
One thing differently is I no longer save my nandroids on my device. I use tool kit to save to PC (which saves about 3.6 gigs) Pointless to save on the phone either way.

I stream music all the time with spotify any Google music. Never keep movies on my phone since I also can't enjoy movies on a small screen, plus I have Netflix. Don't really record a whole lot either, but I do take lots of pictures and they'll all be at 8mp. I can sacrifice game downloads as i find myself not really playing any. The one thing I do a lot is download Roms. But I dont think paranoid android is out in the N4 so I won't be doing that soon. Hmmm, so should I just get the 8gb ?

Agreed yes I use a toolkit and don't save a bunch of nandroid backups. I still have over 3.5gb left. I'm amazaid everything is the same as my skyrocket and I had over 10gb of space used up. Its just much cleaner and I'm making the effort to keep it clean. Now if I could go back I would still buy a 16gb. It just didn't end up that way even though I tried at the time and rushed into a buy. But now that I have an 8gb. I'm not worried at all just having to learn to use box.com for pictures and such. Its just up to the person I guess.

I regret it VERY much. I was of the understanding that this phone would have USB OTG like the Galaxy Nexus so I could just hook up a USB drive. But as of right now it doesn't... and you may recognize me from the USB OTG forum as I'm OCD checking it until a solution comes out. ha

what's the problem with the OTG? is it not working because of the hardware or software?
Not regretting it one bit. I stream all of my music and very rarely play games. All my photos are uploaded to Google plus so I can delete them if needed.
I have 4.6 GB free and the majority of space taken up is from Google music cache.
Basically, I'm using the cloud like a good little Google fanboy should.

I am going with the 8GB, $50 is a pretty big premium for only a little more space. Basically my thinking is that if I wanted to keep a lot of stuff (movies and music) on my device then 16GB wouldn't come close to enough. This will be my 4th android phone and I have never installed more than a 1-2GB of apps. I have almost a 30GB dropbox accounts where my pics and home movies get uploaded automatically, a 50GB box account for any additional storage (ROMs, backups, etc), about 5GB of music on Google Music (I have an Ipod that is part of my car stereo anyway where I listen to most of my music) and then I have Netflix if I ever get bored with movies. Once I decide on a solution to stream my 1TB of HD movies from my home HTPC I can't imagine myself ever needing more than 1-2GB of phone storage, that still leaves me a 3-4GB buffer which should be enough if I ever want some local storage for movies/music when I'm somewhere without a signal.

Looks like the 8 GB is enough for your needs.
Just remember to save all your pictures somewhere besides the phone (should be a habit on any device anyways) periodically.
From my experience, GB ROMs are less than 100 MB but from my understanding ICS ROMs are at 150 MB, or less...? Either way you have plenty of breathing room after what your media uses up so you can hold plenty of ROMs. Other users above said they put backups on PC and had a lot of space freed up, so friendly suggestion to do that.
And me, I just ordered the 16 GB version. Just because I'm one of those people who just want extra space for the sake of being there. I'm probably going to have 8 GB or so of extra space.
The USB OTG thing was something I did HEAVY research on, because I assumed if older versions of Android supported it, then a newer one would too. Almost jumped for an S3 because Touchwiz adds complete native no root support for all things USB OTG. I guess I'll live without it until some dev gets a software mod working.

I'm doing fine with the 8GB. All my pics are automatically uploaded online and I delete them right away from my phone. Don't have many apps installed on my phone. As for Nandroid backups, I copy them to my computer for safe keeping and to save up space. Can always move it to the phone if need be.
As for music and videos - don't transfer much. Just stream mostly.
Just fine, I have a dozen video podcasts, a dozen audio podcasts, ~100 songs, a couple large games (RPGs) and some pics/vids...still have 2.22gb of free space.
Just go with the 16GB. It's better to have more storage, than to have not enough.

But that $60 can make a difference in the long run when you are trying to sell your phone.

Very true, not a factor I usually keep in mind because I keep my old phones in a box.
But @OP maybe this might matter to you?
