Can you test this on a galaxy s ??

Lol, really? There are thousands here like you. Just look on the development forum, install a ROM of your choice, and report back on whatever issues you have. No one here beta tests privately.

CM9 and ICS on the way to Kindle Fire?

Hello!
I just read an article on Engadget, reporting news about CyanogenMod 9 and Ice Cream Sandwich. Link (my first post, so waren't allowed to post clickable link... sorry!): engadget.com/2011/12/06/ics-based-cyanogenmod-9-its-on-track-but-not-for-everybody/
It mentions CM9 making good progress, especially for devices powered by the OMAP 4 processor. Considering the OMAP 4430 processor inside the Fire, this must be great news for future Fire ROM's?
Is it likely we'll see a CM9 ROM for the Fire?

Ok, thank you, I'll try to find some more threads about it. Those I've found so far are mostly about porting the CM7 ROM, but I guess the CM9 gets mentioned as well
CM7 has been ported, but does not have sound. The Dev. working on that did that to prove it could be done, then went directly to an ICS port. Another Dev says he has completed ICS, with aspects not working, but sucessfully booting, and will post pics and source later today. It is def. coming. I am waiting for the TWRP 2.0 before I mess with them though. I need successful recovery tools before I am willing to brick a $199 investment.
Sounds really great! I haven't received my Kindle yet, but the idea of running ICS on it is very exciting.
Do any of you have any thoughts about the performance? I've tried some HTC Android phones earlier, and noticed a significant performance increase when I replaced the stock ROM (with Sense) with a Vanilla Gingerbread ROM. Do you believe it will be the same result here? Better performance with Vanilla ICS than with the stock ROM including Amazon's custom UI?
It indeed seems like the developers that are working on the Kindle Fire make great progress! Awesome news for me that is probably importing one to Sweden in the near future. Awesome work developers!
Same here! Importing one to Norway, so a great part of the Kindle Fire Custom UI is more or less 'useless' for me... ICS will certainly make it a lot more versatile!

I'm with you there, I want to install the CM7 port so bad but don't like not having a working recovery yet. Wish I knew enough to help out the development, but I'm just a tinkerer.

On ICS and love it...now gonna try CM9!
I have been on ICS for a week now and love it...Now its time to try out CM9, since they got a new update today! Want to give HUGE THANKS to all the DEVS!! You have made my Kindle Fire AWESOME!!
I also installed the cm9 beta earlier this week. I've updated with each new release and it just keeps getting better. It runs so much faster than the OEM software and most of my apps install with ease. Can't thank the devs enough for their work.
Kindle Fire ICS beta is awesome
The new Kernel by Hashcode is amazing a step in the right direction for perfect KF support for ICS. Thank you to Hashcode, JackpotCalvin, and all the other devs who put in so much time to get this working!

Miui? Is it possible

Is there any chance that someone could port/create a miui rom for a500. Obviously v4 so it wouldn't be back tracking to gingerbread. I would think it possible since we have ics working,

@lifecoding, hum? well the porting of MiUi is related to a development question more than an general question... whatever...
@warfenix : the Patchcode is available for MIUI, I think so it possible to be ported.
but since its a question, well then how about q&a?......whatever
Sent from my Iconia A500 using Tapatalk
I think its possible, yes, but you need to find a dev who wants to port it across. That might be the difficult bit...
Seems we need an ASOP rom, or CM ROM running on the tablet, then replace some files... well seems easy to say but dunno about when need to be done...
I will not risk my tablet right now, I need it for work
Hell im game to test, a different rom wouldnt be bad, variety is what the a500 needs...
get an ipad

um he's asking a question, not posting a rom, tutorial, kernel, ect... which is what development section is for.
So uh, belongs in Q&A. Next time think before you type and read xda rules and guidelines.
But.. whatever..

Miui is much more than an iPad. Yes an miui port is possible and "may" being worked on right now. I ported the miui rom to the pyramid for many months and have considered doing one on the A500. But miui is heavily cyanogenmod based. Once cm9 is established on the tablet there are many possibilities for roms. But getting there is the hard part and I am greatful for the people who are working on cm9 for the iconia.

I already tried porting it using this guide. Unfortunately it didn't boot - reached MIUI boot screen and that was all. I used Tegraowners ROM 144 as a base(AOSP based) and MIUI 2.4.6 ROM - tried from several deviced with no luck. I see arrom1983 managed to boot MIUI on Galaxy 10.1" tab - see this thread....but there are no updates on the progress apparently.

robkoehler, sorry my friend but this is completely wrong. Please don't start another flame war about MIUI being the same as iStuff. You can replace default MIUI launcher and still have MIUI functionality that is way better than Android's default . Other that that, there are plethora of features I could count if you want me to.

Are you a moderator? No? oh. Then step off your high horse and start trying to be helpful.
If XDA wants it moved, they'll move it and put a small comment as to why it was moved.

JellyBean MIUI For Kindle Fire

Hi All Kindle Fire Owners ,
Official MIUI for Nexus 7 is now available , so it's optimized for tablets and compatible with it unlike old MIUI versions
MIUI was always a great ROM with a lot of advanced options and great apps from MIUI Team
So is there any chance that we see a port to our beloved Kindle Fire
And if not may some one explain why it's not possible to do it ?
Thanks
I am trying to do that, but have very little coding experience, but this will enhance it for me. I am also following a guide I found on XDA.

Thanks for your work and hoping that we got a full working port soon

spekdro,
Do you really want to do this, CM10 is VERY green at the moment on the Kindle Fire HD 8.9" so we do not recommend flashing the Kindle Fire HD 8.9" or the HD 7". If you have to use CM10, I say good luck, you will need to be very patient, the OS is far from stable. We had a copy on our internal 8.9" and removed it after 1 hour, it was that bad.
If you must, say I will take the unstable version and we will post the instructions for you via PM. They are very challenging, not like a regular Android. This is why we do not post the how to yet.
You will need to have an understanding on how to build a raw CM10 Kernel and have a Linux computer that has all the CyanogenMod build dependencies. If you do not own a Linux PC you are out of luck at the moment.
This is not end-user friendly yet - not a bit. If you don't know how to compile CM10 yourself, you are not a target audience for this current CM10 build. Many things don't work on this ROM therefore the ROM is NOT viable to use for the general XDA audience.
Is a install stable cynam blabla but u say is not good is fine i install the aapp play and i happy jejeje but am waiting for stable custom rom for this table jeje and i haved the linux computer and windows jejje but thank anyway

spekdro,
We will post in the Android Development part of XDA once we have a stable ROM.

Request to port.

I was curious who I would ask to get permission to port AOKP and what steps and/or guidelines need to be taken. Thank you.
Sent from my Kindle Fire HD running a Personal AOKP Ported Rom
AOKP is open source, so no permission is needed.
Thanks for the info I just wanted to ask before I attempted anything.

Just try a device with similar specs! It's easy...
