NTFS Formatted HDD and Flash drive or cards via card reader Easily mountable on ICS - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 General

Just an FYI post.
Sorry If this has been brought up before.
With the new ICS leaked kernal LP5, providing the USB OTG functionality, NTFS( Tested Myself) formatted FS can be mounted easily on our ICS builds with Drive Mount Thanks to Dwayne Hoy.
I have tested it with my 8GIGs flash drive and Externally powered IDE hard Drive.
It mounts it at mnt/sd1 folder.
Push Thanks If it helps you. And MODs plz delete this, If already brought up by anyone
Thank you

You should go to mnt/sda1 to view your files. Not usbstorage if thats where youre looking..
And plz confirm if the mount is successful or not after you mount it through that app. It should show the drive space total and occupied.
About the fc Im not sure cuz Im on imilka's. Never faced any in that app. Maybe try to wipe that app's data..
Edit: When it mounts it also shows the place where it is mounted. Try to look at that place maybe you see your files there wherever it mounts the drive

Doesn't work for me! You might be wrong about NTFS support...
But my flash-memory card successfully work with this mod.
Edit: Tested again, and it works! Thanks!

Works awesomely on MIDNOTE 3.0 LP5
Finally got NTFS HDD working
Thank you so much!!!!

LP1 Kernel doesn't support USB-host at all!

anonymous572,
As active writer in the thread you quoted in post #8 (and eagerly waiting to move to ICS without losing my NTFS formatted card access), I did not exactly got what you wrote.
The presented procedure is intended for Gingerbread, not ICS. I wonder then what did you manage to get working on ICS using this process. Apart if the edit text explains that without applying the procedure, you managed, as said by dead-angel, using LP5 kernel NTFS support is native.
Can you be a bit more explicit?
Thanks.

actually LP5 kernals has the required drivers for USB Host mode (OTG) to work on ICS with LP5 kernal installed,
the NTFS support is just a modified script and driver to mount NTFS formatted card or whatever storage media..
That modified script to Initialize the NTFS driver is provided by the app Drive Mount (link in OP)
I hope you got the answer you were looking for.

[GUIDE] How to format 64 GB microSD to FAT32 WITHOUT sd card reader.

I've recently figured out how to do this and it's pretty simple, but since there isn't a thread like this one yet, I might as well post a tutorial on how to do it and be of assistance to those of you who haven't figured it out yet.
1. Download and install the latest version of the app 'SGS3 Easy UMS'.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1711009
2. Download and install the free 'EaseUS Partition Master 9.1.1 Home Edition'.
http://download.cnet.com/EaseUS-Partition-Master-Home-Edition/3000-2248_4-10863346.html
3. Plug your phone into your computer with the SD card inside. Make sure the computer can recognize the phone is in MTP mode.
4. Open SGS3 Easy UMS and press 'UMS mode'. Your external SD card will now be recognized as a removable disk.
5. Open EaseUS Partition Master, select the removable disk and press 'Format'. Choose FAT32 as file system. Finally, press 'Apply'. Your SD has now been formatted to FAT32.
6. Go back to SGS3 Easy UMS and select 'Mount card'. Unplug the phone.
7. Restart your phone.
8. Enjoy!
PS: To be sure of your succes, you must use EaseUS Partition Master and nothing else. I tried Minitool Partition Wizard at first and it did not work.
I knew this already,

welll my microsd fried randomly today too (Lexar 32gb class 10) ... tried to do this method because I dont have a microsd reader... well didnt work out too well because it keeps saying "could not find location" to sd 1
I have Sandisk Ultra 64 GB microSDXC Class 10 UHS-1 which is exFAT formatted. The only problem I have is that Clockwork Mod will not mount it in recovery. My work around is to remove and replace the card with my old 32GB one which is FAT32 formatted.
* * * * * Will this procedure allow that (use with in recovery)?
Anyway there is an Amazon Black Friday weekend special for these for $35 delivered (with prime).
there is a warning / cautionary note which reads:
"Reformat into file system other than exFAT may cause instability"

If you were trying to make a verygreen bootable SD to install roms on, go to my tips thread linked in my signature and you will find a link there to my updated verygreen image that has already been expanded (to 203mb). It says it is for ics, but works great on CM7 too.

Hi,
To quote from faux123:
NOTE: This kernel DOES NOT SUPPORT exFAT formatted 64 GB SDCards! In order to use 64 GB SDCards, you need to format it to NTFS, then use NTFSMount from Play Store to access your 64GB SDCard.
(This is due to LACK OF SOURCE CODE from Samsung/Microsoft for exFAT. Samsung licensed Microsoft's CLOSED SOURCE exFAT implementation. But Samsung under agreement with Microsoft DOES NOT release the source code and therefore we CANNOT build any support for exFAT formatted 64 GB SDCards )

Hy.

If your asking then more tban likely, your not.
Have a search through the Note 2 forums for a way to root your phone.
And then when you have done that theres an app on the play store that allows you to mount your internal storage as mass storage.

This one just enables the External Memory Card as Mass Storage.
Im also looking for a way to get the internal Memory show up as mass storage.
MTD under linux is kind of a hassle
I gave a link two posts before for a program to restore deleted data from internal storage on non mass storage working devices give it a try
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda premium
You can't use UMS to access internal storage, especially if you intend to recover data. It's a technical limitation due to the fact that app data storage and internal sdcard are merged. (detailed here : http://www.androidpolice.com/2011/1...behind-galaxy-nexus-lack-of-usb-mass-storage/)
Some apps may enable UMS but only for the external sdcard.
As for your data, I'm sorry but chances are that they are gone for good. That being said, you can still try this :
- Don't use your phone ! Pull the battery and never boot again in "normal" mode until you made an image. Remember : internal sdcard and app storage are merged and you want to lessen the risk of overwrite as much as possible
- If you use a custom recovery like TWRP, fine, if not, flash one using ODIN
- boot to recovery
- using adb shell and the "dd" command, make an image of your data partition
- check that your image file is correct and backed up somewhere
- now you can using your phone normally again
- using a tool like "photorec", try to recover your files from the image you made. Note that the filesystem is ext4, not fat32
