How many cores does the CPU have? - Galaxy Tab 7.7 General

When I run tests on my gtab p6800 it says it only has one core. And it is supposed to have two as far as I know. Can anyone confirm how many and how to check

Rest assured, the P6800 is dual core. What testing app are you using? Not all are optimized to run properly or detect multiple cores.

Try downloading systempanel app from the market. It will detect both cores.

Quadrant is a bit finicky on Exynos chips. It was always better optimized to run on Qualcomm chips. That's why reviewers always say that benchmarks right now are still a terrible indicator of a device's everyday performance.

Explain to me why the T30 or the T33 is crappy.
Thanks for the hasty reply.
Curious as to how Tegra 3s are bad. Must be that "its not the latest and greatest so its crap bro" mentality that has plagued the gadget world as of late....
I think people don't like it because it's proprietary and not open..?
the T30 version will be fine. same one used in the prime I believe. the one in the 300 is the T30L. this nexus 7 will be able to be easily overclocked also once rooted. thats if it has higher clock speeds in stock kernel but disabled. like in prime when it got ICS. might even be able to use the same EzOverclock apk install like on Prime.
is this using ddr2 or ddr3 ram? infinity pad uses new ddr3 ram with larger bandwidth frequency. over a ghz. I believe. compared to prime ddr2 which was around 540MHz. 300 has ddr3 but only slightly faster than prime memory. its still around 560 MHz also. I guess this lil 7in. would be fine with ddr2.

That would be my guess. Every Tegra device has had issues with all the closed source drivers. Even the maker for Linux said flat out FU Nvidia

Anyone that knows put little stock in benchmarks. It has all to do with their closed sourced drivers. Even the man behind Linux said nvidia is the worst company Linux ever had to work with and stated and I quote. "FU Nvidia"

if so, that's the same one that's in the transformer 300 model. although not as powerful/high clocked as one in prime, it will be fine. its still a very powerful chip no matter which version it is. plus tegra3 has the best multimedia capabilities.

Hi demandarin, nice to see you in this forum too. Finally you will be able to root your own tablet. Lol
I've seen many benchmarks and the memory bandwidth on the t30l is much better and improved over the most common t30 tegra3. I hope they solve i/o issues with jelly bean

Gsm arena doesn't mention that the tab 2 uses an OMAP 4430 based chipset while the original 10.1 uses a tegra 2. That makes a pretty big difference. Also, while the outer cameras are the same mega pixel that doesn't mean they are the same hardware.

No they are NOT the same:
Chipset TI OMAP 4430 / Nvidia Tegra 2 T20
CPU Dual-core 1 GHz Cortex-A9 / Dual-core 1 GHz Cortex-A9
GPU PowerVR SGX540 / ULP GeForce
Different chipset, different GPU, different sensor chips for about everything.
stop saying it's the "same" because the clock is the same...

Why do people just want to number crunch benchmarks? They really mean nothing.... The best benchmark test is how it works in real life, is the OS smooth, do the apps work well on it, any lag at all... That is the best benchmark. Christ, my old HTC desire nearly had the same scores as the stock sensation according to BM scores, in real life however is was lagging like a pig stuck in mud. Lol

Are you triple core guys using siyah kernel? I use System Panel to monitor my phone and it only shows three active cores. Till now I didn't put much into it though, thinking that it's just because there wasn't enough load to start the fourth core. But maybe there is an issue after all?

also i have another question regarding the processor, shouldnt it be arm v9 ???

You cant compare S3, S2 and S3 mini gpus, our device has only one core mali400 and S3 and S2 have multi core gpu.
About CPU overclock, some devs said that its dangerous to overclock novathor chipsets, but i think we could try and push frequency a little bit without raising voltage, then it should be harmless, but also it probably wouldnt be a much higher clock.

well overclocking is all about trial and error, if it overheats, you're obviously going to turn the clocks down

I think it cannot overheat if you dont raise voltage, if current voltage isnt enough the device will crash, reboot and nothing more. About shortening the cpu life time, im not sure, but previously i had a device that was overclocked from 1000MHz to 1500MHz with not that big voltage raising and in my case, voltage that was minimal for cpu to run on 1200 was enough for it to run on 1500. Anyways, my point is that we can try to oc our device as far as it goes with current voltage to achieve a more performance, if it doesnt go up, still ok, we tried. @op when you make that kernel, please post it so i can test it out

Is AOSP 4.2.2 supported?

N3 and v6

Tried researching and haven't found anything so if someone can point me in the right direction I would appreciate it but I'm wondering if v6 supercharger is really needed. I don't use my phone for gaming (love my 7.7) but with such a massive quad core processor and 3 gig of ram is it really needed?

Regardless, no.
well incase anyone was still interested I tested stock and underclocked both before and after v6 and found my answer. The images are stock, 1036 MHz underclocked, v6 stock, and v6 1036 MHz underclocked. This was all using cfq I/o scheduler and interactive governor. the 1036 MHz underclocked ranked just below the stock n3 according to antutu and above my stock test. I know everyone has their own opinions with benchmarking and what app is used but atleast this gives me my answer.
To be honest, I don't even know what v6 Supercharge is supposed to do, but this is what I get. My set up is in my sig
Edit: For clarification, I'm using cfq/interactive with stock kernel settings as well.
