Same here. Brazil, ZTA... not even an announcement for a far away release of ICS.
I hope Samsung hasn't hidden any secrets away from the released source code (like code to very specific drivers). If they have, having the sources won't suffice for a properly working ICS Galaxy S 2.
on the other hand, this may be an indication that Samsung hasn't been able to correct bugs still present in their pseudo-official ICS release, and this is their last resort: release the code so that the developers community can fix bugs Samsung hasn't be able to fix. Not that Samsung didn't have to make such release - they should and it is high time they do so.

We know for a fact that there are bugs that Samsung is too clueless to notice/fix... But they are also too clueless to pull the fixes from the community.
See the fuel_alerted wakelock bug for example... Fixed for around 6 months by the community, still broken in Samsung kernels.

WTF!! really
this is great news.. wow cant wait for the fully working AOKP release

awesome, might now be able to get a decent kernal...and CM9 fully working on this bad boy!

Finally
I've been waiting for this so i can finally change to ICS (CM9) once everything is fixed

ICS Nexus S 4G full working

Fully Stable ICSI would just like to let you guys know (If you havent been in General Lately.) that some devs at Androidcentral are working on an ICS rom built from SDK
http://forums.androidcentral.com/sp...127806-read-only-memory-ics-sdk-port-wip.html
Flash this afterwards so you get Root, Proper fonts and lockscreen fixes.
Also, some goodies:
http://tylerwatt12.com/XDA/ics/gallery/
Build 1A below, current build is build 2B see forum for download link
New version
What works:
WiFi
SD Card
Touchscreen
Hardware Acceleration(most)
Camera (After first FC)
Home, search and back buttons (not menu button)
Headphone and ext spk. sound
3G Text, MMS
What doesn't:
(Some ICS lib's had to be replace with GB lib's. So it's not exactly a clone of the SDK build (still great work though)
NFC no worky
I'm being told Calls dont work
Tap to share
some ICS features are left out.
Ill explain things a bit better here:
With any android release (Not including Honeycomb) the software release goes as follows:
Android develops the Android Version
A PR is made on the subject usually including a new device that will run the software
Between the announcement and release of the phone the SDK is released for that new version of Android
A Dev takes apart the SDK version of the rom and starts porting things over.
SDK builds don't usually work as an every-day phone, just something to play around with.
Sometime after the phone is released Source Code for the Android Version is released in which dev's will be able to make awesome ROM's that work well
(Fastest source release to rom build is about 1 hour) So you can expect that after Source is released Dev's will get a working ROM within hours.
... Weeks/Months Later..
Samsung releases ROM's to Carriers for OTA Updates.
Correct me if i'm wrong in any part here guys

Hey, just wanted to clarify, the ROM is not built from source but ported from the released 4.0 SDK.
I read earlier that its a sdk port and not source code. Is there a quick explanation regarding the difference between the two.

Source code is just that, source. The actual source used to compile android. The android SDK is a tool released for emulators allowing you to emulate the os on your computer, for example. These ports are ported from that emulator while roms you see around here are built from source for your device.

As cool as these ports are, they'll never have full use out of them being a SDK. I wish the launch of IC was sooner as far as updating. Waiting until the 10th for the Galaxy Nexus to come out was a little bit of a wait. A week or two after it was announced would have been reasonable.

CM9 (ICS) coming to 10.1...any hope ?

Steve Kondik said this on G+ on Monday November 21th : https://plus.google.com/100275307499530023476/posts/hVw7ykmsvrx
So the 10.1 will have its official CM9 support as expected...it's good news anyway but it's not to say we'll get ICS that easily.
Our options are two :
- the CM team offers official support to the 10.1v as well. Don't hesitate to mention our device in the G+ post I've linked to.
- we'll get ports from the 10.1 CM9 ROM.
Our device just can't die software so soon...
finger crossed
In fact, we've got this time the kernel of ICS. So the dev doesn't need to build a rom from scratch, like previous.
As you an see on XDA is that there "plenty" of New ICS rom, for example i've got one on mu SGS...
We just need a dev. And the lib for the 8mpx camera.
So cross fingers

Well, getting ICS will be late in February/March time (at least that was the timeline given.) However..CM9 is just a totally diff story
A Cyanogenmod developer would have to take up the cause and have access to the device.

" I see there seems to be a version of the GT-P7510 (thin wifi) in the works by CyanogenMod, so if that get’s released I will have a look at it again."

The 10.1 will definitely have CM9 support (see today's CM blog post) but how to get an official 10.1v support, I wonder...
Wow... I had no idea this 10.1v model existed and just read up about it. If I had bought one of these I would never purchase a Samsung product again. Officially it was never updated to even HC 3.1 and still runs 3.0.1? WTF?
It's mostly done (and it's awesome), only non-working thing right now is the camera. There is a non-technical issue that needs to be sorted before we can release anything for Tegra2, though.

I am a big fan of CM; and think this is what sets Android apart from Apple (infact beats the **** out of Appy...lol)
I am intrigued to ask though; when you say "non-technical" issue - hope this isn't a license/patent kind of issue?
I also heard, there was some issue with the GPU rendering? Is that correct?

Someone got ICS on another Tegra2 device

Some developer got Ice Cream Sandwich running on the Hannspree Hannspad, a device I've never heard of before but looking it up, it has tegra 2. From my understanding the lack of Tegra 2 support was the major roadblock for the Atrix, so perhaps this could help?

Correction: check Turl's github, he created a new branch for ICS a while back. I can't elaborate on this any further since I'm not fluent in any type of code, but it's pretty clear from the keywords in his history that work is being done on 4.0.

i just read on Engadget that Motorola Defy is getting ICS ASOP, and that phone is way underpower than Atrix, so my guess is Atrix should definitely get update soon (not from Motorola, of course, rather from our beloved dev team)
I can here by say ics is working fine on a tegra device. As this comment is being typed from my acer iconia a500 running ics one of our devs has been working on it. He has both 2d and 3d hw accerleration working and omg is it amazing. This thing is so so so so fast. Cant wait for it on the atrix. If anyone has any questions ill answer to the best of my ability
Tegra2 ICS
Well, I for one would like to know where I can sync the tegra2 drivers from..
Good news from the LG camp. They are updating their Optimus 2X to ICS so even if Motorola doesn't update the Atrix, the drivers for Tegra will be available through the LG's ROM.
Let's hope we get the chance of having ICS on this fantastic ROM.
Cheers
Only thing holding up development is the lack of dev's. Nothing else. The few we have that work together did great with CM7, so maybe they can too get ICS going for us.

4.1 Source Code Released!

http://www.engadget.com/2012/07/09/android-4-1-jelly-bean-source-code-now-available/
I know it's frowned upon to ask, but how likely are we going to see a build for the Tab 2 in the future?
Not trying to be rude or demanding or anything, I know it takes developers time to release new builds, but I simply am so excited for the vsync and triple buffering utilization. Google is paving the way for mobile OS technology while Apple sits in the corner throwing up the same old OS with one or two "new" features. That being said... I can't wait for 4.1

it is based on jelly bean or ICS source?
and what make this ROM different from the other ROM?
