Theoretically it's possible, if you changed LCD too.

If LCD done done too, sounds like it was either a cheap one or faulty. Is viewing angle also very poor!. Had trouble with all LCDs I have ever purchased here in Thailand as most supply sources get the cheapest rubbish from China possible & lie with claims of original part to top quality grade replacement. Buy all my parts out of Thailand cheaper & with better quality ...

Screen is green (instead of grey)

Hello all,
my ex-girlfriend broke my nexus 7... so I ordered new display, but somehow I maybe damaged something. Now I have green instead of gray. (on each display, new one & old one, which has good colors)
Does someone know, which of hardware part affects colors?
Ok I found what did that.

Nexus 4 Replacemnt Screen Test

My friend recently dropped his nexus 4 and apart form there being massive cracks on the screen, the touchscreen wouldn't work because of the broken digitizer. He did not want to send it off to LG because of the high costs and the long waiting time. We went to a local phone repair shop and were assured an original LG screen would be fitted.
So, the next day we go to collect the phone and here are a few differences between my nexus 4 (untouched) and my friends newly repaired one:
- When screen is off there is a blueish tint to his screen.
- Vertical and horizontal lines are visible when staring at it with in a bright environment.
- The digitizer would not respond at one point and we had to hold the power key until it rebooted.
Now, I'm assuming that this is not the original screen for this phone and is probably a copy. what i am looking for is a screen testing application that i can install and run on both of the nexus devices that can give me figures which i can use to compare both of the screens side by side to see how much of a difference there really is.
Thanks in advance.
There are always differences between original lcds. Some Chinese lcds are even better than originals. If there is no problem when the screen is on and all colors appear OK with no strange tints of any color, I think your friend's lcd is fine. There are some hardware testing applications (or you can just use a painting application as well), with which you just draw thin lines so that you can see if there are any dead areas on the digitizer.
Are you sure the screen was changed and not only the digitizer? If only the digitizer is changed I don't believe they put this loca glue between the new digitizer and the lcd. That can cause some touch issues on the n4, but usually everything works well. Sorry for my English.

The whole front side was changed including the LCD and the digitizer, even the notification light is different. The screen is fine although i can see that the colours are much cooler and have a blueish tint. I need an application to test if the screen has the the same PPI and responsiveness. As you said above, hardware testing applications.

There are a lot of lcd and hardware testing applications but i dont think you ll find one that does what you want. I may be wrong though. Usually they just show all the colours so you can check if all of them appear correctly and identify any dead or stuck pixels. Also the touch response and the multi touch. Thats it. I dont think you ll get any more info for any screen from an app. This is a good example https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.harvestcellular.lcdscreentester&hl=en
As i said @ my first post, you can find big colour differences even between original nexus 4s. You can always root and flash a kernel with which you can "play" with the colour profiles. I have changed lcd's for the n4 and had this kinda blue/cool/washed out colours tint. It was solved with the colour profile obsanity amoled, while didn't like the same colour profile on lcd's that i changed without any kind of tint. Search here for n4 colour profiles. There are a lot of apps on play store with which you can control colours. My best experience is ak kernel with synapse apk.

Droid Turbo Stolen (More Info Inside)

So basically, I was in Israel for a month, and of course I had my Turbo with me, along with an Israeli SIM card. To avoid repeating myself, I'll refer you to the post I made in a local Facebook group. Unfortunately, this was actually the first time I brought anything other than a key to the beach with me (1/30 days), and whether it's a coincidence that I was robbed that day, or the fact that the culprits watched me stash it, I'll never know.
Unless the police recover my Turbo, this is goodbye to the subforum. (I just ordered a Nexus 6P)
I appreciate all the work that certain users have put in to make our experience the best possible.
Side note: I actually had multiple completely random people give me money after I asked directions to the police station on the street, so I only have the best to say about Israelis in general. Also, if you think you can help me find the phone, let me know.

Android Device Manager (part of google play) lets you locate your phone, lock your phone, ring your phone.

OK, just read your Facebook post. You already know that. In fact, sounds like you have the same type app I have installed. Good for you. Hope you recover it.

Is there any method or application which we come to know that newly purchased turbo has genuine Led display.
Actually I bought a used Turbo and when I compared it at full brightness with my Maxx and another Turbo I felt that it is more yellowish in comparison to both of these. I I'm suspecious that the genuine Led unit has been replaced.

When you use the Display Tester app, does it show 1440p? There's not that many 5.2" 1440p AMOLED displays out there, that I'm aware of...

Are you running a custom ROM, even ComputerFreak's perhaps?
Says you have "soft keys" And I don't. Also your measurements are slightly different.

No sir, I'm at stock 5.1.
Actually after applying glass protector for led I felt it sometimes less sensitive the Touch Keys of my Turbo(and this makes me more suspecious about Led replacement).
So I I'm using "Handy Soft Keys" software instead of hardware touch keys.
Which measurements are different and what do you guess from these differed measurements ???

I made the same comparison with my friends 's Moto x2
And the result was same. Turbo display is more in yellow colour. It seems that the genuine Led had been replaced with LCD. Is it possible although the pixel density shows more than 565?? Also when I used the "Branding, contrast, saturation test" I noticed that my Maxx has background textured type display whereas Turbo has plain display.

Stock PPI is 565. That can't change. It's hardware related.
Stock DPI is 640. That's software related and can be changed. Some custom ROMs like Resurrection Remix go smaller, to fit more stuff onto the screen.
Here's mine:
Since I don't have soft keys, only the capacitive keys, my screen size doesn't show full 5.2" since some of the screen is being used for the keys and not for display. At least that's my reasoning.
It's possible that the yellow tinted unit or the other unit has experienced some type of burn in.

What type of burn?
Is it possible that an led display is burnt out and it still give display?
u say u think it has been replaced with an lcd instead of an amoled (highly unlikely). however that is the easiest thing to check. go to a dark room, make a wave gesture over the phone to bring up active display and check to see if only time info lights up and the rest is completely black, or if the black emits light (i.e it is grayish). if it is completely black it's an amoled if not it is an lcd. make sure the room is dark (your bedroon at night for example with shutters off etc). keep in mind that no two screens are alike. maybe it is the original but a different batch. i had that on a moto x where the screen was yellow tinted (brand new sealed from store), got it replaced and the next one was much better. also dont expect to ever see true white on an amoled screen (take ur maxx beside a good lcd and compare whites and you will understand what i am talking about)

First of all thank you for your help.
Now at first, I checked in the dark room and found that it is an LED not the LCD.
Second.... Yes it is possible that it may be from different badge but it is also possible that this badge belongs to low quality display as none of the three mobiles(Moto x2,Droid Maxx& another Turbo)resembles to this display and it is prominently visible when compared to those.
Third... I know that Motorola's display is a little bit yellowish green when compared to Samsung etc.
Note: I also noted that it's viewing angles are less than another Turbo...

Lcd change

My phone fell on the floor and screen broke.
I want to buy a new one on Aliexpress and i have 2 questions.
1. Is it better to buy the screen with the frame or just digitizer and screen and if anybody changed theirs if you have any advice.
2. I hade a white/rose gold combination and now i would like to buy black front instead of the white one. I think that there is no difference but i would still like to ask if i would have any problems just becouse of the color?
Thanks!
Hello,
1. I suggest you get the one with the frame > much more easier than without it, and removes the possibility of making a horrible mistake.
2. I don't think the colour will cause any problems, it's much more easier to manufacture the same screen with multiple colours than to make totally different screens. So I think you are good to go. But I can't cover my opinion with a fact, so there's that.
Hope I helped ya bit.

Hi its better to buy one with a frame and the color doesn't matter but since you have the gold version. I would suggest you stick to the white its looks much better. I did the same an bought an LCD with frame from Aliexpress and replaced it myself. Here is a video that will help you disassemble your phone https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l_VMcIX0hJY I would suggest you first watch the video before you start. I did the same before i started. You can follow and pause at each step. Good Luck. Its an easy task but one point to note is the fingerprint sensor is easy to jump out of its connector. I would advise to test the screen before you screw the phone back up.

Screen ghosting/ image Retention

So, I am 1 unlucky in 1000 who has a tianma lcd panel and facing screen ghosting since one month after buying the Note 7. Is there any software fix for this? I heard Redmi note 4x has similar issue. It doesn't affect performence but unpleasing to the eyes. I am not looking forward to replace the lcd as the phone us still brand new. It is imported, so there’s no way to return it. Thanks in advance.
Same thing is happening to me, sadly... Don't think there's a way to solve this through software, as it's a hardware issue
Bought Redmi Note 7S (Lavander) Onyx Black 4GB/64GB Yesterday , Faced Touch Ghosting.
Edit : Requested For Replacement * From Flipkart.

Actually, I did a little goof. Turns out I have a BOE panel instead of Tianma which is good, but even on that panel, I still get some ghosting... so I can't imagine how bad it must be for the worst panels Guess that's what you get when you cheap out on a phone

Wouldn't I need to pay for the replacement? Or if covered under warranty as it's a manufacturing issue?
So basicly even if you replace the phone under warranty, you will get the same panel and the ghost screen will be there again after some use?
you can use this tips to modify the display color a little, to minimize the ghosting effect.
I have tianma with pretty nasty retention, and modifying the display kcal does the job.
**You need use custom kernel with kernel manager or simply a LOS-based ROM to apply this mod.
I have tianma, everything just looked fine, this is only "things" , not she or he , so for me just use it
Fix for now
I thought I was the only one. Bought this device from China and started having this issue after around 4 months.
The problem does not occur with pitch black wallpaper.
I did some research and found this app (Ghost screen).
It's not in play store.
https://apkhome.net/ghostscreen-1-0-1-4/
I do not face the problem anymore.
Try it. And let us know.

Solution in Pixel Experience Rom
I found a workaround in the pixel experience rom without any apps .
Go to Settings > Display > Live display > Colour Calibration > and set all 3 values to 92.
Weird. I have a Tianma display, yet I am not experiencing any noticeable ghosting. Maybe your screen is faulty.
