Cant unlock device after rooting - HD2 General

Iv been rooted for over a year and have flashed everything possible for this device! !! I LOVE THE HD2... I just recently switched to att and purchased the unlock code to switch sim cards and i cant seem to unlock the device. I went back to windows mobile in hopes that it would prompt me for an unlock code on start up with no such luck. Any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated!
Many thanks in advance . .

Definitely it should has asked for a network code under Win Mob, very odd indeed!

Thanks for the response. It seems the sim card wasnt getting contact and now i fixed that issue. Now i have a different problem.. it now asks for a pin and when i enter it all is well and its excepted. I go to make a call and it says i need to enter the pin! Iv done this a couple times and still nothing.

Probably same area problems: contact between sim-card and device, faulty sim or sim-card slot...

two known bugs on unlocking HD2; try pressing & holding OK button for 5 seconds when code entered, do factory hard reset after code been accepted.
As above, you could still have sim card connection issues causing full connection call issue !

is my xda 2 locked?

here is what happened...
got my xda 2 a few weeks which was supposedly "unlocked" and installed a sim card from my local provider and i had mobile inernet for about a week and then a few days later it just stopped. i completely lost the signal and up in the connectivity section it just says "no service". i have tried a hard reset and that didnt help. i still dont know when the heck happned or what is wrong but now things have gotten even weirder. when i toggle between flight mode on and off it prompts me saying "sim card blocked. please enter PUK" does this mean my xda 2 is locked? is it possible for a device to be unlocked and then locked all over again for some reason?
i tried using the unlocking tool from this site but the one that runs off you desktop pc tells me the phone is already unlocked and the one you run off your pocket pc tells me everything is fixed but i still get prompted for the PUK?
your problem is that your SIM card is locked, not your device. This mostly happens when you try to enter the PIN code 3 times without success. The only way out is to enter the PUK code, so you can change the SIM password.
In Europe, this code is mostly given to you at signup time. Here, in the US, they make you call the telcom operator and dig it out of them, if you get a competent person on the other end of the phone line.
So, my bet is that you entered the wrong pin code for your phone -- and maybe you did this without even knowing you did it.
sigh...to tell you the truth i was hoping it was a locked xda 2...maybe that would of explained why im not getting a signal ...
You are not getting a signal because the puk is now required to access the sim/service provider. You should be able to get the puk by calling your provider or online through your providers internet site, you should then have a working phone again. To prove this to yourself just place another sim in the phone.

How to tell if Vibrant is unlocked

Short of using a sim card from a different carrier, how can I tell if my phone is unlocked or not? My seller said it was unlocked.
sorry i dont quite understand. so have you tried using at&t sim card?
either way its really simple to unlock.
-open the market and search for "sgs unlock" (it will be called "samsung galaxy s unlock" and under it it will say "DaGentooBoy"
-after you install it, it should open up automatically(if not click on applications and look for it) and look for the unlock code(should be random numbers)
-turn off your phone, insert sim card, power up your phone and it will ask for the unlock code.
heres where i got the info
forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=761045
Sorry bud. The easiest way is to put another carriers sim in to find out if it's unlocked. Even if it's not, I unlocked mine in literally less then 5 minutes.
Open the dialer and key in *#7465625#. For an UNLOCKED Vibrant you should get the following result: Network Lock [OFF], Network Subset Lock [OFF], SP Lock [OFF] CP Lock [OFF], press OK to exit that menu
put an AT&T sim card, and if it works, then its unlocked

Then your phone is locked to T-Mobile. The others are always off. It's the network lock that people are talking about when they say unlock a phone.
My favorite thing is the typo in the menu title.

I unlocked my 2 day old phone last night with the windows unlocker tool. I had a SIM that I got in India and it worked for unlocking purpose. When I put the T-mobile SIM back just had to re-login facebook, google etc. I think those information are stored on SIM and not the phone.
Does anyone know future firmware OTA updates like Froyo or anything else that T-mobile will push to our phone will lock it to network again?
Anyone

No it won't
Lost my unlock status
Just a quick side note. I got my phone unlocked from T-Mobile. And it worked like a charm. Last week as I was changing SIMs, suddenly I found it was locked. Rooted Stock ROM. I don't know how or why it happened and it's only happened once. But it would be a good idea to keep your unlock code on a piece of paper somewhere so you could access it if you were away from home or a computer. The whole point of unlocking a phone is so that you can use it on another carrier. I travel around the world and drop local SIMs all the time into my cell phone. This happened at home so no problem. But if this happened at an airport, I'd have been in trouble. Lesson learnt. Thought I should point it out in case someone else runs into this.
I am a longtime tmobile subscriber. I got the unlock code immediately. I finally got to an att store and unlocked my vibrant. I just entered that code and it is showing network lock ON. WTF? I had to login to everything after I unlocked it too.

T-Mobile

Is there anybody that would be able to call T-Mobile to get me the Unlock Code for my Samsung Vibrant, if I give them my IMEI.
I had my phone unlocked and for some reason it randomly locked up again.
I would call T-mobile myself, but I am not with them and I live in Canada.
If anyone could help me that would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance!!
T-Mobile gives former eligible customers free unlock codes.

Unfotunately I don't think it will work. The phone has to have been registered on the users account, meaning the user must have put their sim in the phone before, or there has to be proof that exact phone with the IMEI was purchased from T-Mobile by the account holder.
But luckily for you, if you were a T-mobile customer in the past, and you did in fact use that Vibrant on their network, they will provide you the unlock code again.
For your reference
http://support.t-mobile.com/doc/tm51885.xml
"T-Mobile will provide the SIM Unlock Code upon request to eligible former customers, provided that T-Mobile has such code or can obtain it from the manufacturer. "
Who knows though, might work, if you are willing to find someone to try it for you.
Yeah i am pretty sure the person who had the phone before wad with t mobile, so it should be fine. I just need someone who is with t mobile to call in for me since i am not with tmobile.
There was an app in the app store that'll give you the unlock code. That's how I unlocked mine. Check the market as it was a free app.

You don't need to even bother with that. Use this thread to fix the unlock. This will make it more permanent. Hopefully. It worked for me on two different devices. Cheers!
Thanks for the responses..
Yeah I unlocked my phone myself a month ago and for some reason It became locked again randomly. Dont know why... I just dont want to go through all that work again, and have it happen again... If I get the Sim Unlock code then it wont be a problem, and I can just put in the # again. When I originally tried to get the number through the SGS Unlocker it just gave me 8 zeros, so that method dident work.
The computer that I am using does not have all the drivers and crap and it is not my computer so I do not want to load everything on it.
If anyone with T-Mobile dosent mind calling for me that would be greatly appreciated.

The problem is you can't use the sim unlock code once you have gone through this process that they would send you. If you went through that process, then the code is whatever you set. If you don't remember what that number is, then you will have to do it all over again.
It is not that i do.not remember. I put in eight zeros in. But some everything was reset and it is locked again. I tried the eight zeros and it sosent work. I think i used a different nethod. I did not use the batch files. I used adb and edited the nv data. I am pretty sure if i were to get the sim unlock from t.mobile it will work. I dident choose 0000000 as a sim code it just told me to enter that in the instructions.

The problem is that number replaced the old msl. So you have no choice.
What do you mean Msl?
Msl = master subsidy lock aka unlock code

your sim card does not allow a connection to this network

In that case, if it where me, I would use The Advanced Ace Hack Kit to root and Super CID your device that will SIM unlock the device permanently, the only proviso is it may erase all your data so make sure it's synced with the Google servers etc., etc

Yes, Not all unlocked phones work with all sim cards. Some carriers lock their sims, so you have to ask for a new sim. The Hack Kit sim unlocks the devices but not the SIM restriction set by the carrier.

Yes, I was just thinking the same. I will with some more research on the subject.
It would be worth trying with a different sim. If one of your mates are on a different network try theirs otherwise pick up a free payg sim. At least you will know if it is the phone or the sim then.

Man, I has a low reputation here, but it isn't because I'm noob. It's because I don't post messages here and there ( I'm just trying to keep threads clean and read threads attentively). But I'm enough experienced in your problem. I'm in judicial process with my local shop now, due to exactly your problem. Forget about bad contacts, IMEI's, locks and other I've tried all means that I could find in the internet since 2011, every! And all of the threads connected with your problem begins with "bad metal contacts/ sim card changes/ locks/ unlocks/ roms/ radiomodules/ flashing etc". But It's just a faulty phone[!/B]. Belive me. All this threads ends with something like "any solutions? somebody? " There is no solution for this from at least 2010 year. Don't waste your time and bring your device back to your retailer if you can. I has evidences and prooflinks, and can give them later. Now, I just suddenly have found your post while serching new info in the internet for TODAYS judicial session. So don't reduce my "Thanks Meter" at least till you ask prooflinks. And I'm "beging" you: "just bring your phone back to retailer"
Added few minutes later:
1) I know that it is a bug in the OS-Hardware-controller_flash junction and we all won't find solution because it is very specific.
Here is the answer of t-mobile service. And the core phrase is "If you've messed around with apn settings or something that'll cause errors to, so try a factory reset just to make 100% sure there's a hardware issue." You do not need to fix so hard bug- they should make appropriate devices.

2) A guy whom t-mobile sent a new phone and admited it was manufacturer's bug

[Q] can't connect to mobile network

Hi I purchased an s5 that was a few days old 2nd hand. I checked everything out on check mend and everything was fine, few days after purchase, phone will not connect to my network or the 02 network with any Sim. I spoke to 02 and they tell me the phone is not blocked or stolen. I also got a receipt from the guy I bought it from, but like I say it worked fine for a few days then this happened and now nothing. I managed to reg the phone with Samsung, although I do not know if I can get away with a warranty repair, as I am the 2nd to own it, even though it really was new when I purchased it. Anyway, any help would be Greatly appreciated.
The provided info was not enough to investigate the cause of the problem.
What you have done or installed or changed in these few days
Forgive me, I am new to this.
I have tried both 02 sim and a giff gaff(my provider) sim in the handset and nothing works. I am going to pick up another sim this morning to test that also(different carrier). Both Sims i have already tried work in other phones fine. The giff gaff sim when I put it into my daughters s3, works perfectly and calls can be made and received.
I was considering flashing another stock ROM just to eliminate software, I have opened a support ticket with giff gaff, who have said the sim is fully active.
Just trying to add bits that are useful here, the imei of the phone is fine and shows up as being there and not null, everything else on the phone seems fine also in terms of usage, I did have mobile data, which for some reason I can't seem to get now, but I did re write the APN, so will re put it to the original. Just won't register on network.
Anything I have missed or you need please ask. I am a noob, although I have flashed a few ROMs without issue after lots of reading. Should also add, the phone is completely stock, nothing messed with in any way. Sm-g900f. Xxu1ang2.
Thanks in advance.
