[Q] hardware keys not working after CM9 flash - Atrix 4G General

Guys I encountered a problem after flashing joker's 0.3.0 CM9 build today. Right after flashing that update from 0.2.0, I immediately noticed that my usual red Motorola bootscreen is missing. Instead the menu whenever we want to enter CWM by holding the power button + volume down button came up. My CWM was missing thus i couldn't flash anything (i later found out it was missing and reinstalled it). My screen calibration was off. It was as if everything shifted like 20 pixels down for example whenever I type Q the A button gets triggered, Z button gets triggered instead of A, and so on and finally my hardware keys are no longer functional. Instead they are being replaced by the last row of the keyboard which is spacebar, the puctuation keys etc. I have tried going back to 0.2.0, factory resetting, hardware factory resetting, reflashing faux's 1.3ghz kernal and nothing seems to be working. Please help me guys! Any advice is greatly appreciated!!

It could be the pds partition has gotten messed up. That's what I gather from what you have told. Google pds partition fix, download the pds fix that's most appropriate for the android version you are running.

Home button stopped working after installing rom

I installed a rom for the first time tonight (Lightspeed), but after installing my home button stopped working. When I press on it, light changes and tablet vibrates, but nothing happens.
Even after reverting back to my stock backup it still does not work. Any ideas?
Same thing happened to me. So I ordered a new one from ebay and tried to replace mine. I cracked the whole screen instead. Apparently the home button was part of the ui and not an actual hardware key.
Problem solved
Reverting back to original Acer recovery image and doing a factory reset from settings menu solved the issue.

[Q] 4.0.3 OTA Update Reboots shortly after startup.

Okay, I finally had time to update my A500 to ICS I was at 3.1 and was rooted. I went through several updates to get to ICS. 3.2, 3.2.1, a small patch, then 4.0.3. After the update finished, saying it was successful, my tab will reboot itself no longer than 30 seconds after it gets to the lock screen I don't have time to uninstall any apps that might be interfering with startup, not that i could tell whats doing it, and i don't have time to do the factory reset through the system menus Not sure why but the recovery (power&vol boot) only displays a red triangle over a dead droid so, guess my actual question is, how could i go about correcting this issue? I have ADB if needed, but I don't know were to start. any help would be appreciated. THANKS.
[Edit]
Okay, so I managed to turn off the wifi on my tab and it seems to stop restarting. When I do turn on the wifi, several apps give an error that they have stopped. after the second one pops up the tab then restarts unless the wifi is shut off. Any ideas as to what this may be would be appreciated.
Hi, sorry to say that i have the exact same problem.
Updated today from 3.2 to 4.0.3 and after first boot started the reboot sequence that only stopped after I managed to switch off the wifi...
I investigated a little but it seems this is quite an isolated issue... and all ways are leading to the factory reset...

Here's on direct from Acer Support:
(of course us old dogs already know this trick)
Note: Clean boot will erase all the data/information which is saved on your tablet. Recommend you to back up the data before performing a clean boot. (yeah, like you can get in there to save it
1. Shutdown the power (press the power button for long time to shutdown).
2. Press and hold volume up key (the key next to rotation lock) until you finish step 4.
3. Press power button for 3 seconds until you feel device vibrates then release power button.
4. Once you feel device vibrates, very quick to switch on/off "rotation key" many times (this activity has to be done very fast, otherwise it will not success). To ensure you success, switch on/off rotation key when Acer logo appears on screen.
5. Wait for a while (you will see Erase Userdata and Erase Cache on top-left corner on screen), device will reboot and start from OOBE screen.
Managed to get it to work. Appreciate the help. Runs like a champ now.

If you don't have any important things, boot into recovery, data reset.

I would try a factory reset first. Caution: All data on the tab will be lost!

same situation
I'm in the same situation, with a similar method getting into the situation-- son playing game, I tried to back out, and powered down only to be unable to boot past Acer logo. (tab not rooted or reflashed, stock OTA for ICS)
I have tried factory reset to no avail. I contacted Acer support, but my tab is out of warranty. the tech mentioned I could get it reflashed for $99, but he also suggested I might try flashing a custom rom to see if that would work.
Any advice would be appreciated. I've only rooted a Droid Eris before, and it was with an app downloaded from the Play Store. Without being able to access the tab past the Acer boot screen, I'm not clear on how I might load a custom rom.
Thanks in advance!
They wouldn't even TALK to me on the phone because it was out of warantee... Just told me Too bad, so sad. and hung up.
As for fixing your issue. Double check that you're pressing the right button combonations. I know that sounds super silly but I had this messed up for days trying to get my tablet up. I thought it was cooked. Vol + (Button furthest away from power button) with the power button and flicking toggle switch is what you need.

I didn't try the phone. I posted in the support forum, and one of the Acer techs PM'ed me. He confirmed I was out of warranty, then advised trying to flash a new ROM, or send it in for official Acer reflash for $100.
I've gotten into three different modes on boot-up:
- Factory Reset (User data/cache erased) - still gets stuck on Acer logo
- Boot recovery (?? load update.zip from SD card) - updating Android bot turns into dead Android bot w/red exclamation point
- USB Bootloader mode - can't do anything in this mode that I'm aware of

[Q] Buttons not working in bootmenu - help please

Hi all I have two A500's that ive been playing with. First one was rooted and flashed with no problems.
However the second one rooted fine but after using the A500APKFLASH tool the tablet hangs in Bootmenu Mode and none of the keys work to go to the options in the bootmenu.
All I can do at this stage is reboot and enter APK mode.
I have tried flashing various packages but they all do the same thing.
I would really appreciate some help as ive spent hours trying everything I can find. Im really annoyed as the first one went so well and the second one has failed at the last hurdle
Cheers
Riley
Quick update
I can now get past the bootloader screen by using an earlier build bootloader and holding down the volume up button while powering up, then switching the orientation hold button.
Although not sure where to go from here. Tablet is somewhat alive for now.
Is it possible to flash a ROM without using recovery?
OR just a bootloader?
I cant really tell what my problem is - the bootloader or the buttons.
The volume up button works when starting the tablet up but doesnt work at any other time. Volume down button works fine - except in bootloader/recovery.
Tried manually flashing a bootloader....still no buttons working though. I will keep updating my adventures until someone gets annoyed enough to answer me
So after leaving it for a day, I can now access the bootloader and boot into recovery/fastboot/etc
So I can flash Roms, etc onto it. Im now getting stuck at the boot image

[Q] Back and Multitasking buttons stopped working

I was uninstalling some apps to get ready to back up and flash my phone because my microphone volume was stuck at minimum and no one could hear me. After rebooting my back and multitask (menu) button won't light up or respond. This has happened to me before occasionally. I could fix it by powering the screen off and back on. I believe I read somewhere it had something to do with xposed.
I tried flashing using MOP and my buttons didn't come back so I loaded a TWRP, wiped all partitions, rebooted in download mode and flashed with regular ODIN. Still can't get the buttons to function. Home button works just fine, though.
I tried finding a solution to this but I can't seem to find one. I had the same issue intermittently on my Galaxy S4 but I fixed it by wiping the partitions and reflashing. G900R4 USC variant.
So I went into stock recovery and did a factory reset. It was already as wiped as it could possibly get afaik but I thought I'd try just to see. My buttons lit up in stock recovery so I knew they were getting power. I did a factory reset and low and behold upon reboot my buttons came back.
Did I fix it or is there a circuit starting to fail on my phone and it was just luck? I'm curious.
