My friend have bought a brand new HTC evo 3D, powered with qualcomm 8660 1.2 ghz dual core processor. Phone look great, but , trust me, i dont want to change my i9000 for that phone (and probably any HTC). Screen on i9000 look much better(with smaller res 800x480 vs 540x960) , amoled is amoled , multimedia experince is much better on i9000. We tried to play regulary .mkv 720p shakira spot on both phones. Suprisingly htc evo 3d can't play mkv with stock player. Ok, both of us are downloaded bsplayer lite, and mx player from the market, and on the both players htc evo 3d (with hw accel enabled has stuttering problems), but with all players (including stock) on galaxy s video is smothly. Sound in any way is much better on samsung, and video record 720p stutter on evo 3d (fps is unstable) when light condition change, but with samsung this problems do not exist (video is perfectly smooth in any light condition) .Games and Browser on both phones work great, and i cant find big difference. And another thing, evo 3d has 1gb ram (808 mb actually), but he is full of bloaware, and rarely free ram is more than 150mb). this is enough reasons for me to stay this year happy with my sammy, and dont care about ICS, most phones will not get stable ICS before Q3 2012.
Hi 2 all.
wonderful!!!
What rom is your SGS running on? Great to see you so happy!
Galaxy s ftw :d:d
I love my Bell Galaxy S... does everything I want it to and works great.
Rom THS ICS v16
I will use this sucker until my contract runs out in a year/half or until I break it.
Power vr sgx540 ftw !!!
I must agree in some points. But Galaxy S is not a perfect phone. If we had to stick to stock roms then its a really average phone compering to other phones. Display is very nice and sharp, and thats what I like with my Samsung. Other things are more at average ( call quality, browser, camera, lag)
I had a Sony Experia Arc and it was bit better even on a stock rom.
But apart form all the bad and good things is that, you can buy Galaxy S for 150-180Euro ( used ). This can't be beaten, for that price its a best phone on the market right now. Plus you can have ICS on it and there is a big support community.
You may disagree with me. Its my personal opinion.
I have bought this phone after winmobile resistive device, so I have in plans to be with my galaxy s at least when something really different will come again)) For example - something with webtop possibility - like motorola atrix.
I am planning to keep this phone until 2014 It's a great larger sized smartphone.
I will wait for SGS2 port of ICS
Yeah the phone is great, i don't plan to change it soon, there are so many mods/kernel/roms to not get bored.
yeah sgs is still one of the best phones=D lots of roms etc. processor is still enough fast for almost anything

What do u mean by better, smaller 800*480 vs 960*540 resolution? Lols....higher the better.
I have mine almost 2 years now and it still rocks! Thx to the great community here. Thx guys!

Its a classic ... hall of fame for cell phones. I'm keeping mine. It might be worth something one day. Wishful thinking lol. Waiting to get the galaxy s 3 tho....

I came from a Blackberry Curve 8520 (ugh...) to my first Android experience with the SGS, and I couldn't have been happier.
Everything I've ever wanted to do with my phone has worked perfectly, it's definitely fast even today, and when I was finally starting to get (veeery slightly) tired of it 2-3 weeks ago, I found so many ICS builds (I was on GB until then) that only made it better!
It's one hell of a phone, and nowadays you can get it so cheap that I'd still recommend it to people who want an Android phone but don't need the latest, most expensive one with the most cores/RAM.

So you're comparing your phone to your friend's, which still has bloatware and probably a stock ROM.
I love the SGS, but seriously, don't boost it like it can destroy the HTC Evo 3D until your friend actually installs a performance custom ROM on his new phone.

yes, i say how it look in reality, not paper specification. Everyone know that on paper evo 3d is much better, and yes, i also have stock jvq rom non rooted. Screen on evo 3d (without 3D mode) is nothing special, much better look on our galaxy, and multimedia on evo is poor. I did not say that our phone is best, i know that sgs2 is much better in any way, i just compared this phone with top HTC phone at the moment
Well regardless it's a nice spirit booster... I was just in between the price drop when SGS2 came out... So i i bought the SGS full price but i'm very impressed with it. Running ICS 4.2 and semaphore 9.1.
I was seriously considering upgrading to an SGS2 and compared two different ones to mine as i wanted the benefits of the S2 plus the better screen. But from what I saw although screen resolution was higher on s2 certainly it wasn't as bright and colours didn't Pop like on the galaxy s. Highest brightness setting on s2 also lower than S.
I wanted to buy a new phone a few months ago, untill I discovered custom roms....Now my sgs is as fast as a SGSII wit stock firmware...
I'm going to stick with this untill the SGSIII comes. And if that is not what I hope of it, I will stick with even SGS longer.
As said above, it's an average phone on stock, but with custom roms it's amazing. Only real negative part is the terrible camera and the lack of flash on it.

Hi fellow Samsung Galaxy S owners,
I'm at the verge of buying my first Android phone now. However, I still have a few things to confirm.
I've ruled out Evo completely as it does not work in most part of the world, despite the gorgeous screen size that I absolutely would love. I want something that is at least four inch in screen size, gives me good visibility under bright sunlight, comes with at least 16 GB internal memory, front camera, and something that runs Froyo 2.2 ( in other word, the vendor must already have that ready for upgrade now).
Is Samsung Galaxy S the one?
It has everything u wanted apart from the 2.2 update which is expected to be released in ~4 months.
Thanks leoon,
Do we have any official statement yet from Samsung guaranteeing that they will release an update in 4 month's time?
The next question is, in the event that they abandon the phone and refuse to issue any upgrade, is there already a good cooked Froyo that I can use now?
I understand that there is a great performance improvement moving from 2.1 to 2.2, so am really keen to get on 2.2 ASAP.
It is confirmed officialy about korean version 2.2 so we can be sure about others also.
SGS is much faster than evo, I don't understand why you even consider about it.

Maybe, if you are into 3d....
But in normal use, the EVO feels faster (I just played with one for a while last night).
The Evo exhibits no lag at all and feels peppier than my SGS.
Is SGS really faster than EVO? Any link that I can see the benchmark comparision?

the sgs is much stronger in graphics
cpu wise they are about the same, can't say how much the same cause i don't have one xD
but i'd rather have the hummingbird processor
+ this screen
Froyo (2.2) has already been announced for Asia. It will come in early August. Samsung said that International users will follow soon.
I chose SGS over Desire for its screen, better processor and GPU, better looks. I come from a series of iPhones (2g, 3g, 3gs) and I don't miss them at all.
SGS has some lags from time to time, but nothing really frustrating.
I use it all day and the only con is the battery duration. It needs recharging every single day (from 18-24 hours of usage).
One more thing that i don't like so much is the application for exchange email, but I'll look for a better one.
Other than that and of course the lack of paid applications due to my location (Greece), android and SGS fulfil my needs.
Why did I choose the SGS? (previous I had a Nexus One, previous to that iPhone 3G)
1. 4" screen
2. Better quality touchscreen than N1 (no axis swap bug)
3. PowerVR GPU
So, other than Nexus One, nobody has froyo 2.2 yet? I didn't want Nexus as the hardware is outdated by now, but its main attraction is the ability quickly keep up with Google's latest firmware.
BTW, to Dexter666, the key attraction of EVO to me was the 4.3 inch screen size. I was hoping that they have a GSM UTMS version. But since they only have CDMA version, the use is very limited, hence it's greatest weakness. It is not possible to use it even if we want to in Australia and most part of the world.
Also don't forget it has best video player compare to any other android handset as well as music player.
Support for almost all the native video codes, in DIVX & MKV up to 720P. No need to wait for any video player.
Music player with EQ. SRS WOW 5.1 through headset. Best screen to watch high quality videos.
Look at other forum section where owner of other (HTC) android handset always asking for good video player. I use to be among them once,
not any more though.
It hold batter 3G signals then my N1 and Desire and good battery life too
HD video
I was considering getting the desire but felt like it was a little old now and the new iphone 4 might have had to be my option though I so didnt want to go there! Then the SGS came out in the UK just last week and it had HD video capture an excellent screen and 2.1 so I was so there, had it for 5 days now and it has to be said it is one massive jump from what I had with the G1. The video capture might be the best in the mobile space! I compared it with my mates iphone 4 and the audio is crap on his in comparison... basically he is a massive apple fan boy but was looking at this phone with real envy as the screen did look better on a quick comparison!
couple of bugs with the clock, and browser but im confident that these are just teething issues with my hand set as I dont see many people talking about it on the net (yet)
I always had Samsung phones before and my Omnia i900 with WM had to be replaced. I went for the specs (the speed/sound/screen) and the look (and no I'm no iphone fan, just incase ) Never had experience with android but I must say I made a good chooise.

and mine is actualy a little faster.
Since your from Australia, the Optus plans for this phone are dirt cheap consider what you get. You pay what, $800 give or take online for the 8gb model, $850 or so for the 16gb (used to be a lil more pricy, add $50 or so) when you buy outright. Great caps, coverage is okay and decent data. Phone is fast, customizable and fun to play with. Typing is also really easy and the screen has awesome quality. Loving Vilingo for when I drive.
It was a pleasant change from Windows Mobile.
Edit: I also have to say, I ordered this phone online and got it within a day or two (ordered Monday night, received it early Wednesday morning). Optus staff are great and very helpful. Had to transfer my number and I got a very nice lady to sort out my issue within a few minutes. Very happy with this phone. Touchwiz UI is good but I did change mine.
Was going to get the HTC Desire, but it was not available anywhere. So I ended up getting the Galaxy S instead, just waiting for the delivery to arrive.
why sgs?
android, super amoled, touchscreen quality, 1ghz, gpu, microsdhc, presumably good coverage in these forums
disclaimer: not all of those might be unique to this device
All of you have posted some good points. To summarise, among the current top end Android phones
- best screen especially under bright sun
- best video recording sounds, in HD.
- best GPU
- best video and music player
- better touch screen than all HTC phones (but is it true multitouch like in iPhone?)
- one of the few Android phones with front cameras
I understand it does not have flash for the camera, right? This is one of the negatives, but in view of the other positives, I'm prepared to overlook this.
Another few questions outside this topic:
1) Is there any FREE software to sync my outlook contacts and calendar to Samsung Galaxy S?
2) Is there any FREE software to sync my musics, videos, podcast from iTune to Samsung Galaxy S, maintaining the playlist, ratings, and album artwork?
3) Can I get TomTom or Navigon Australia for Android yet?

+1 for why I choose the phone,
but I should also have check the software..... and as per now, it lack some feature that shoucd be std (ie proper contact synchronization, repeated lag, erratic GPS positioning) I could understand if it was samsung's first android phone, but it's not the case AFAIK
I thought all android are equal: we are not there yet....
The UMTS/GSM version of EVO should be HD2. But it's on WM6.5...
Two days ago operator made me an offer of any smartphone for free, I narrowed it down to the most expensive hehe: Iphone 4, Desire HD or a sgs and don't know which to buy. This is a once time deal I can't wait for dual cores and whatever else comes out next year I need to reach a decision this week.
What should I buy? I have seen and used all OSs . The only thing I like about the ios is the app store, I generally dislike Apple and Idrones.
I'm relatively tech savvy (in the non-douchy kinda way xD
Except some minor annoyances here and there I love android. Can any one give some advice? Thx and ho ho ho
iPhones kinda nice but not as much for the geek in you.
HD Desire ??
SGS awesome phone. Too bad they're blowing up left right and center.
Android app store is choke full of goodies and I've found cool stuff my bro can't get on his iphone4
Imo the SGS, the screen is just beautiful and the processor is a monster compared to the Desire HD and iPhone 4 is just not my cup of tea.
SGS will most likely be more optimised after Nexus S is release, I realy think it's already fast and powerfull, and it will only get better!
Camera is amazing and Night mode is franckly pretty amazing, you'd get more than what you can see!
HD Videos is pretty good also!
Sync is all with your GMail account, so pretty simple and straight forward. You can sync your outlook with GMail if needed.
And if you need to access the files on the device, the USB can be mounted so it's pretty fast to transfer things.
Only down I can see on the SGS is the "sometime" flawing GPS, not all the time but can be anoying sometimes :|

Say whaat?
I think you should go for the Desire HD. It's got 768 MB of RAM vs. the 340 MB available (out of a claimed 512 MB) on the SGS. And it's got a bigger screen, almost an equally powerful processor, very snappy, and it's already got 2.3 Gingerbread.
If you need a powerhouse for games, SGS is the way to go though. Nothing matches it's GPU at the moment.

hmmm isnt that becouse of the ****ty samsung filesystem and/or bad kernel
and should i be concerned about only 339 ram?
Buy the iPhone 4, sell it for $600-$800 off contract, buy whatever phone you want. Personally I'd says Desire HD simply because Sense is much better than Touchwiz and it has the Sense.com features (free remote wipe, GPS tracking, text through phone through website, etc). However, the battery is kind of weak so I'd recommend a bigger one if you can find one.

They ported it from Nexus One to Evo, and Desire HD is basically a variant of Evo
Damm I'm more confused now than when I started...
Iphone: don't really like how it feels in my hand, really small screen, absolutely no customization whatsoever.
good things: apps, no major bugs and better shades of blue lol.
Desire HD: seems to have the worst hardware out of the three (cpu and gpu) piece if crap battery, seems if it falls once is over, ****ty battery and sim cover and imo the camera that sticks out like the evo is really effing ugly
Good things: most ram out of the three, htcsense.com, biggest screen (preferences but I think 4" is perfect)
SGS: plagued by software bugs apparently, random data corruption, no flash, needs most tweaking out of the box
Good things: best screen cpu & gpu, the nexus s is almost the same phone which means better development porting the works(here's hoping) and best battery life
By comparison seems that the sgs wins overall categories
Its easy. If you want the best smartphone the its sgs.
Iphone is not as good many say.
I did have one and i did sell it.
Iphone has more good games. That's the only good with it.
The rest is much better with sgs.
HD phone is not better either.
It has more serious flaw then both sgs and iphone together.
Sgs is a powerhouse and it got the best screen of all phones.
Sure sgs can be laggy out of the box, but that is easy to fix.
So right now there is not a phone that's has anything to compete with.
The sgs will win it all the time.
**Using my own JPU kernel, z4mod, 339MB Ram and ext2 filesystem**
My father has an iphone3g and my uncle has the iphone 4 I jailbreaked it for him honestly I wasn't that impressed with the phone. The only thing I like about it is the apps mainly the games are much more refined than on android phones
Also why has the sgs only have 340ram ? On every page I looked it says 512. Will that bite us on the ass later I mean the dhd almost has 800 and phones are moving on 1gb .are you telling me the sgs has as much ram as my old ass hero?

It does use a 512MB chip, but only ~340MB of it is visible after you're booted up. Out of the other ~172MB, there's around 40MB that's unaccounted for (we don't know where its being used) and the rest of it is "reserved" (even when the functions it's reserved for are not in use) for stuff like video playback, 3G calling etc.

I'd have to say i agree with Product F(RED)
Desire HD is the best phone on the list IMHO. But getting the ipoop and selling on will mean you can get the HD desire and still have some cash in your pocket
sgs is the best (imho!) it's a pain out of the box but that's why we love it so much, let's face it, most of us like tweaking and playing with our phones, it's half the fun. Flashing new roms, installing different lagfixes, uninstalling new roms, uninstalling new lagfixes, whoops I've broken it, nope, it's going again. The sgs is a geeks wet dream and in my experience it is very difficult to fully brick.
So if you want a phone that you are going to have to fiddle with, get the sgs. Jpu seems to have ironed out a lot of problems, I get perfect gps now, although it was pretty good before. I'm actually a little disapointed that jpu works so well, it kinda takes the fun out of it all
If this doesn't appeal to you then get the hd, it's a good phone, screen is not as good and it doesn't feel as fast as my tweaked sgs, but overall it's definitely a winner and you won't be disapointed
The iphone is also a good phone and not to be sniffed at, if you don't mind being spoon fed by apple.
i have to say SGS, because of the most powerful hardware, software is not important, because we can fix that easy , as surprise Samsung also tries there best, i think with JPU Firmware they show that they are willing todo everything, Hardware we can't fix, SGS has currently the fastest CPU + GPU specially the GPU!!!!! is amazing, why do you think Google went with Nexus S , because of Hardware, Speed, Quality, Availability.......
Nexus S and Android 2.3 Gingerbread was made to give game developers the best available Hardware and with Gingerbread many things which will make Game development easier and because of the CPU + GPU, which is almost the same as Iphone 4 has (SGS a little bit better), it will also make porting games from iphone to android pretty easy now.
About HTC Sense i agree it is a nice homescreen, but on the other hand it is a memory, cpu and battery monster! why do you think they have 768MB Memory and if we look at different homescreen replacements (ADW, Laucher Pro, Zeam,.......), then i really don't see the big advantage at all, but thats a taste decission
So for me i have to say i am very happy that i went with the SGS, i really can't understand users who say that the SGS is built cheap, i have the SGS now since the beginning, i don't use a screenprotector, the plastic is thin but it still looks like new also after falling on the floor (shame on me), compared to my previous HTC Units which where loosing color on there great metal casing and not by falling on the floor but because i used a leather case, the signal was often a issue for me (metal), dust was behind the screen after a short time,........
I have to say that the Samsung Hardware is such an improvement compared to HTC that i won't anytime soon look back to any HTC unit even if it would have a killler hardware.
But that are just my 2 cents on it
Go for the iPhone 4 unless you really need flash. It has the best screen of the three(the pentile matrix of the SGS is just horrible) and works correctly out of the box.

Care to elaborate on this? The iphone does have a gorgeous screen, but to call the sgs screen horrible is a bit like saying that Angelina Jolie is a dog. Sure there are better looking girls out there than her, but would you kick her out of bed? Most definitely not, unless you bat for the other team of coursee, in such a case swap angelina for brad or whom ever floats your boat.
I've convinced myself that I would like to trade my x10 for an SGS. Is anyone here going to give me a reason not to?
Only plus with x10 is 8mp camera with 720p video recording.

The galaxy s is great, but comparing gingerbread and froyo, gingerbread runs laggier on the galaxy s occasionally either because of lack of optimization by samsung or because of lack of RAM (on froyo I'd have 180Mb of ram on boot and the phone runs smoothly for days while on gingerbread, I'd have 140Mb of ram on boot and the ram seems to get used up to 80Mb after a day's usage and the phone becomes laggy).
So, when Ice Cream Sandwich comes, my concern is that the 512Mb of RAM on the SGS might not be sufficient for it to run super smoothly.
But apart from that, the SGS is great, especially on 2.2.1 roms.
However, you might want to consider dual core phones like the SGS2 or the upcoming Nexus Prime.
Thanks for the reply. I'm just changing phones every couple of months getting a feel for different manufacturers as my upgrade is due in 6 months time.

Actually, HD video recording is better on the SGS!

The SGS also records on 720p. Besides the CPU/GPU on the S is superior than the one embedded in the X10. At least for gaming it is.

That is one opinion! Running my SGS on XXJVS firmware with Voodoo kernel and ext4 filesystem is smooth an lag free. If you can wait a bit longer, wait for the S3....
don go for sgs....the choice is sgs2,moto droid, etc if uwana buy now but if u wanto wait abit , then wait for the 2ghz quad process......well iam waiting for one.cause my exp in using android is , like its open ground an more ghz,ram the better it b...for future proof...ive heard a hell of phones with high specs comming the end or mid 2012
I've had my SGS for a year now and I really like it. The customizations that can be done to this phone are incredible. It is fast and reliable.
I have actually watched movies on it when I had to wait for something. The screen is very nice, oh, did I say it was fast?
My only problem with my phone is the GPS is nonexistent. I have tried different fixes, but ruining stock firmware and not rooted, the GPS sucks.
I will be looking for another phone when my contract is up in a year and I do not know if I will return to Samsung.
Ian
SGS has a much better display, more ram, better multitouch technology, bigger battery, significantly better cpu/gpu, native divx support, wireless N tech and bluetooth 3.0 and prob a bunch more pros over the x10. the x10 has a slightly better camera, with flash, i kinda like the look better and thats about it.
So based on what I said, you decide
Kind of sounds like an SGS would be an improvement for now!
For the guys saying wait... I am due an upgrade soon so I'm just after trading maybe add a little money to it too. When my upgrade comes it will be whatever the latest and greatest device is in March 2012!

yes do it either sgs1 or sgs2
I had an x10 and binned it for the sgs.
I am so happy that i did. The sgs is blazing fast compared to the x10 and there is tons and tons of development going on.
I dont miss anything about my x10 at all
I went from a wildfire to the sgs, I still miss the little bugger

I actually did the exact same thing after a month or 2 of using the X10...this was around same time last year. no regrets.
Yes , all the hypes about the new dual core phones, the tabs made me thought for the past month Its time to move alone.
IT has been last jan i have the galaxy s, I went through some readouts about samsung tab 1st.
It seemed the only handy size of the tab is the single core 7 inch, which is same as galaxy s, same price when i got the galaxy as new. so its a no go. I checked out the cheaper new one of tab 6200 , no go, I chked the 10 inche tab...its too big lol
Galaxy S 2 ? its twice the price what its delivering, So no samsung for me for now.
Ericsson? I chked RAY, ARC NEO ETc, donno what! lol all no goes.
HTC? Never used one , and dont feel like.
So i decided to stick to galaxy S cause none of the new phones are worth compared to upgrades and prices and the new MIUI ICS is kinda rocking with ma phone.
Let me know your thoughts.
Thanks
I'm with you dude, can't see the point in getting a sgs2 for a little more speed, I want my next phone to offer something different for the price, may be the sgs3 or something else. The sgs1 does everything I need and does it well, plus, smaller than sgs2 and better sound with voodoo. Now got great battery with 2540 mah battery and semaphore with smartassv2, loving it. Also remember that you learn more as you play, tune, test, flash. Many people using sgs2 just leave

No doubt the SGS is still a powerful phone and will last many people at least another year.
BTW I also upgraded my SGS battery. I got the 1650Mah Samsung Armani battery which is the same physical size as the OG SGS stock, but gives me the extra juice I need to use my phone with even more moderate daily usage...

I love my SGS for every other reason except its RAM. This is bcz mostly i like playing games and due to low memory games stuck like hell. If it just had 768MB of ram, I would have never thought of upgrading. Anyway, still i have this machine and i am gonna keep it.

Low ram is compelling me to upgrade to SGS 2 or HTC Sensation XE !
A good decision, dude.
I will also stay with my Galaxy S, got it one year ago and still luv this phone more than anything. Ok, sgs2 has a more powerful cpu and gpu, but I actually dont play to much with my phone, only some small games like doodle jump, angry birds or Fruit Ninja THD
It has such a powerful gpu, that even the galaxy nexus uses it, ok, its version is clocked at 384mhz or so, but doesnt matter, it is one of the most powerful gpu solutions in the single-core world (is also used at 300mhz on the lg optimus 3d)
But in my opinion its the fault of gameloft and all the other developers, that the gaming performance is so f*ckin bad on our sgs.
On the iPhone 4 and iPad e.g. Asphalt 6 runs as fluid as hell, also fast and furious does. And both devices have a higher resolution, but a weaker gpu (PowerVR SGX535)
If the developers would code for the plattform instead of porting the whole stuff down from iOS, then all the hd-versions from iPad would run fluid on sgs and other devices. So thats the main reason, why we need a much more powerful hardware with android, to gain the same gaming expirience like on iOS-Devices.
B2T: Keep the phone as long as you can. It is solid made, a really scratch-resisent screen, awesome and it has imo the best size, I think that 4,3inch is just to big for a phone
BTW:
Why do you think all the american carreers release almost every second month a new phone based on the galaxy s. Sometimes with a 4,5inch screen like the infuse or with a keyboard like the sprints epic 4g and some other phones I dont remeber atm
So, have fun, dude
I stay with my I9000 too, it's still the best mix of cpu, gpu and durability for me. Regarding RAM I use the great Thunderbolt Tweaks and Semaphore kernel, which results in a very fast and stable SGS.

@angry_machine, Your decision is absolutely correct. I was also thinking to upgrade to SGSII, but after seeing it in a mobile market i changed my mind. NOthing much different. I bought my SGS last year in Oct, and it's the best phone I ever had. And I'm having no issues with it. Technology will never stop, so we should not change to every next model. Only change it when you really need. I Will stick to it until a change is must.
Voted 5-star because I feel the same.
I'm on the same boat, with all these powerhouse phones coming out I was really thinking about just buying a new phone outwidth my contract. My contract ends in August and I just think to myself, what kind of phones will be on the market by then? Tbh it's worth the wait.
do you hear about samsung galaxy note?
hello comunity, a friend of mine is insisting in changing me his atrix for my desire hd... my phone is in perfect conditions, i am very happy with my phone because it a great support, and the big screen is something i love, i like how it takes the pictures, and my battery life has been ending from the morning to the night with 20% left...
the plus of the atrix is that it has FFC, its dual core, QHD screen, fingerprint unlocker, and bigger battery, but it has a smaller screen, and the UI is so ugly, i dont know hows the camera, and how it performs with the games...
so what do you thin guys... is it a good deal or should i keep my DHD?
in case of UI, that is not a problem. you can always install a custom AOSP rom or a second launcher and modify your system to your wish. Small screen is only concern. I wouldn't change my DHD for anything with smaller screen. Actually only phone I would be able to change my DHD for is Samsung Galaxy Note, which I'm getting in January
But in performance do you guys think atrix is better than DHD..? Maybe with ics coming? And what about camera?

Heard the atrix has okay specs, but I love my inspire/dhd. love it so much I got 2, the inspire and a euro DHD w/ a dead TS . Like that I have more ram then the atrix and looove the solid build that HTC does. If they made this phone a duel core, shot in 1080p, bumbed the 8mpx to atleast 10-12mpx, changed the lcd screen to something more crisp and kills apples retna display then I'd be even more happier and never change this phone

Motorola? NEVER!
I have both of these phones. I gotta say, the atrix is a better phone. It has way more power, battery lasts me two days using Homebase rom and I love the lapdock. Fingerprint scanner is also awesome. Games like Shadowgun run perfect on it. DHD has a way bigger developing community though and I do like sense. I currently am using runnydroid on my dhd and can barely make a day on the battery. I did just calibrate it last night though, so we'll see how today goes.
Atrix also has the option for a docking station.
I know it sounds a bit mad but for business users this could be a great advantage.
I can get my Windows work desktop to appear on the DHD but if only there was a way to hook up and external monitor and use a bluetooth kb and mouse. I could then ditch all other devices and only have my DHD for everything.
I think the DHD is perfect other than this (battery capacity maybe too) .
no still loving my DHD until 4 core processor release...
maybe i would, given its amazing battery life and the HD dock... pretty neat features. The quality of the phone is also superb. Motorola makes the most solid phones( hardly surprising given its expertise).
BUT BUT BUT.
their after-sales support fails, outside of the USA. ( if you want to keep it stock ROM,unrooted )
and despite grand claims by nvidia, tegra 2 kinda sucks. No neon instruction support and guess what, MOST HD mp4 videos cant be played(some 480p videos too) unless you re-encode the video/use rock player(may be choppy).
Pretty irritating for me given that i love watching videos.
Well I have just gone the other way Atrix back to DHD.
For music with poweramp Atrix is a fab machine beats the DHD.
Battery life too.
Screen looks better on DHD & it's batter to use.
The Atrix is over rated & the software is kak. Not that many Roms out there either.
I'd avoid the Atrix, or any Motokak handset.
It's your choice but I had Atrix for 3 months & got shut & glad I did so
Don't even mention MOTOROLA. I had the worst experience with motorola services. I own a motorola defy and it's been an year since motorola announced FROYO for my eu phone but it's been more than a year and they are still rolling out. I highly doubt if they're even working on it now but it never came...
And why atrix? you've got droid bionic, you've got RAZR so why atrix....but don't even consider buying motorola. You'll have to survive on custom roms...
I like my DHD, and i don't want motorola
Just ask yourself a question: if Atrix is better than DHD, then why does your friend insist in the exchange?
