[Q] CWR not booting on 64gb ROW tablet - Thinkpad Tablet General

Hello,
I don't get Clockwork Recovery to run on my 64gb tablet (ROW, thanks to realyst2k: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1471106 )
I did everything like explained and tried it several times. But after rebooting, the tablet freezes during "Booting recovery kernel image". With the power button I can boot into android normally and restore the factory recovery.
Did CWR work for anybody on a 64gb tablet? I did not find any post saying so.
Has anybody an idea what the problem may be?
(Sorry to post this as a new topic, I'm not allowed to write in the developement forum.)

CWM install worked flawlessly for me and is still running great. Wish I could help more.

I think I figured out what the problem is: my tablet is a WE build, not ROW. Is there a chance to get CWR for WE tablets?

Thank you very much, now it works

[Q] Can't get CM7 into Recovery mode to install gapps

I'd like to ask this on verygreens siz agnostic CM7 thread, but I can't because I am a noob and it's an "expert" thread.
Anyway, I have a rooted Nook (using autonooter 3.0" and I want to run CM7 from an 8GB SD card. All went well, and I am able to run CM& and I set up wifi.
I then copied the latest gapps onto the card and tried to go into recovery mode. It just boots into CM7. I have tried all the suggestions on verygreen's thread, but none of them worked for me.
Can someone please help?
Thanks
OK, never mind. I got it to work.
In case some other idiot has the same problem, here is what worked:
1. Press "N" and power buttons simultaneously. Release the power button about 5 seconds after the "Touch the future of read" screen comes on.

When did you release the N button?
I've experimented with all sorts of timings but still can't get into the Recovery Mode. Could someone please help?
I'm installed CM7 on a 8GB SD card for my Nook Color using the Size-agnostic SD Card image and CM7 installer for SD Cards. with updater.
In addition to the instructions on a number of threads on XDA, I tried all sorts of variations on the button sequence, for example, pressing N before/after/simultaneously with the power button, releasing the power button before/1s after/5s after the "future of reading" message shows up, releasing N 1s/5s after releasing the power button, not releasing N at all, and so on... none worked for me. I've been trying for over an hour...
Can someone post a very verbose step-by-step on the button sequence? What am I suppose to see when I enter the recovery mode?
I'm having the same problem. I would very much like to get this stuff to work I have been trying for 2 hours with no luck. Please Help
I've had success (with Market access) snagging ROM Manager. It can flash CWR to your emmc and reboot you to Recovery on its own. Have your ROM loaded on a uSD and navigate to it (after formating cache/data)) then selecting the zip you wish to install. This bypasses the possibility of a bad uSD, bad format on uSD or even corrupt uSD.
Have done several times and yet to fail (knock wood!). Lemme know how it goes.
Eyeballer has a great thread that might also help y'all. Sticky this for future reference.

No joy installing gapps on nookcolor
I had similar issues installing gapps...
- installed CM7 (7.0.3 encore stable) on NC uSD using verygreen's method with no issues. I used the latest generic SD card image (v1.3).
However, when I went to install gapps via the recommended methods, I got the following errors:
- key recovery method doesn't ever show the penguin (is that the indicator you're in recovery?)
- software reboot with recovery option also no joy
- tried flashing CW via the ROM manager app to do what skeeterpro recommends, and get an installation error flashing CW...
... so my solution was to start from scratch and put both CM7 and gapps on the uSD the first time.
I just delayed any online portion of the setup wizard (picked the top option at the beginning - not the pretty-looking Setup Wizard name; you'll know what I mean when you get there) until I got through it and was able to setup WiFi.
All is working well now.
Cheers!
I just did a new instal with GAPPS on the SD card with CM7 and it works like a charm now.

It'll also install the Dalingrin's O/C kernel at the same time. Tried this 3X and worked perfectly.
Verygreen does caution, though, that the all-at-once method has caused problems for many, and, therefore, does not recommend this.
Also, with his latest SD image, you can bring up a boot menu by pressing the "N" key when you see the CyanogenMod banner. This allows you to boot to SD, EMMC, or recovery mode -a great and handy feature!
I use Cm7-01302012-nightly and by mistake deleted the boot menu, the phone not start, any suggestions?

[Q] Can't boot into Recovery from Rooted SDCard

Using this thread, I've successfully installed CM7 to my uSD card, and everything works great, except that I can't successfully boot into Recovery Mode (CWM 3.2.0.1 installed). Current CM7 is 08082011-NIGHTLY-encore.
I've searched through the linked thread, but can't find a reliable solution to the issue.
No matter which method I use to reboot into Recovery, it tells me the SD card is already formatted, looks for install images, then "Preparing to shutdown" and shuts down.
This makes it rather difficult to update CM7 without completely reinstalling.
I'm now having the same problem...

How did you get it installed?

Per the linked thread, as far as I know.
I don't have my NC with me now so I can't verify but I doubt verygreen implemented the latest CwM into his 1.3 image.
In fact, when using his instructions, we not even think about the CwM. Just burn his image into the uSD and good to go.
As for boot into recovery, there are 2 options
a. Combination of N and power button
b. Boot into Recovery by select the option during reboot.
So far, I have no problem with it.
Okay; thanks for that info. It'll be a pain to reinstall, but sure, I can do that. Would Titanium Backup help with reinstalling apps?
So...installing new builds, just copy to sd card and reboot? How do you get into recovery then?
Thanks again for the knowledge!
After a few rounds of reformat/reinstall, it won't be a pain, but just take time, if you (I, we) continue to use the NC, do expect multiple wipe/reformat/reinstall, let say by year end, when ICS is ready, I'm sure all of us will jump on it , so relax.
As for Tita.Bck, I personally don't use it but majority of members here do use. They will help you.
Assume you have a good CM7 on the uSD, yes, just drag/copy the new build into it (boot) and reboot into Recovery.
"How do you get into recovery then?" I just said in my previous post.

hello,
I have the same issue as OP. I want to reboot into Nook without removing the SD card. I was able to reboot into recovery once and I chose emmc reboot, but now it just shuts down after recovery boot. The "answer" above doesn't make sense to me. I can boot into recovery, it just shuts down. what am I missing?

If you are running from SD... What "recovery" are you booting to and why? If you are booting into the SASD recovery (verygreen's) then this is normal behavior... that mode is only for installing ROM's, gApps, etc.

Starting your own thread for one... this is a completely different issue than the OP...
IF you are running from SD and want to boot into a ROM on your eMMC... just hold "n" and power on... you should get a boot menu... select eMMC and Normal boot... then select Boot Now.
Believe it or not, I do have the EXACT same issue as the OP. No doubt I am not as fluent in the terminology as a senior member, but I don't think your tone is called for. Btw, thank you for your answer hidden amongst the vitriol.
Happy Holidays!

[Bricked] Please Help! (In Pain)

Hi guys,
Okay title might be a little exaggerated haha but...
Recently broke my hand and one handed computing really sucks. So i grabbed my transformer from the closet that I hadn't used in months. It was acting pretty weird, very slow, and just unpleasant to use. I had previously had it rooted and had a kernal and rom on it, but wanted to revert to stock and try ICS. I really forgot how to do everything so I tried to use this guide:
http://theunlockr.com/2011/11/28/how-to-unroot-and-remove-cwm-recovery-on-asus-transformer/
Downloaded both files. and tried to get into clockwork but kept getting a big ! mark. Gooogled around and found that I could download recovery instller from the market. That got me to be able to get into recovery... I did notive that I couldn't get out of recovery and had to do cold boots to get past it. Still tried it though. When I finally got to uploading those files I still couldn't get ouit of recovery and cold booting just freezes.
Can someone PLEASE help me. I really want to be able to use the comptuter without suffering.
I just want to get it working and hopefully get to ICS.
Would not might using a custom rom if there is a stable ICS release u guys recommend.
If someone can step by step me i would be extremely grateful.
Thanks alot.

How did yo install cwm recovery? You mentioned RecoveryInstaller, I hope you didn't use Acer Recovery Installer.
The RecoveryInstaller for the TF is not available on the market. you have a link to the one you use?
or did yo use ROM Manager to install CWM, what version of CWM do you have, ect.
yea i used rom manager sorry
and i think it was 5.5.0.4 cwm
the exact thing happened to me, do you know if your tf is compatible with nvflash?
This *might* help

That still didn't fix anything.
The problem is I am stuck in the CWM.
Anymore help? please?

[Q] Boot Problem

I have a ViewPad running VegaBean Alpha 2and I've got a strange problem. The tablet boots at first boot, but when i reboot it or power it off and then on, it won't boot. It happend in VegaCream RC2 too. Is this a partition problem, or what? Is it any fix, or should I just install Honeycomb?

Use moddedstock version 1 as a base, boot to CWM recovery, wipe everything except the sd card, install vegabean from CWM.
It should be OK with moddedstock version 1 as the base.
Good luck
Backlight on, Won't boot and won't go into Recovery Mode
Hello all,
Has anyone else encountered this issue where the backlight comes at power up, but tablet won't boot, also won't go into recovery mode?
I am a basic user and have read the threads up and down all evening. Sorry, if this is an easy problem to fix, I just feel like an idiot. How do I enter recovery mode now. Tablet ran fine for three weeks and this is the very first time I have seen a problem.
Running VegaBEan Beta1 on Viewsonic 10s.
Thanks!

The problem may lie the layout of the partition.
This is what's been written in the VegaBean thread:
"Before installing the ZIP file make sure that:
- You have the correct partition layout (if you have VegaCream installed, you have the correct layout)..."
Install VegaCream first with from this link:
http://www.mediafire.com/?z7r5zve13ay5qc6
It's installing through nvflash so you need to boot up in nvflash mode.
It formats the partitions to the right size, and VegaBean is based upon that layout.
After that you may just install VegaBean through CWM as usual, be sure to do a factory reset before you install it.
Hope this will help you!

[Q] Eyeballer mostly working, Gapps not working

I installed CM9 Eyeballer the other day on my NC. It pretty much works, but if I go into the web browser or any other factory-installed app, hitting the "N" button takes me back to the factory-installed home screen, and I can't find any way to get back to the Android home screen, short of rebooting the device. Is this normal?
Also, I flashed Gapps using gapps-20120429-ics-signed.zip, and the only Google App that appears is Play Store -- I was able to sign in, but the next screen gave me a "Server Error," and that's all it's done since. I verified the md5sum, and also tried again to install it. No change. Is there some version conflict, or something like that?
Edit: did not install CM9, after all. I now have.
What is the 'factory installed home screen'? You mean stock? That is not possible if you installed CM9 over the top of stock on emmc. Can you explain a little more how you installed it and what you mean.
Well...
I followed the directions as closely as I could: create a recovery chip, copy over the zip file (manualnooter-5.08.20-apps2sd.zip), reboot, install from zip file, install Manual Nooter, flash update-Froyo1.2-dalingrin-OC-emmc-090111.zip, install Gapps, reboot again. As far as I could tell, my results were consistent with the directions, up until the symptoms I described. For example, the splash (smash) screen is right, and the rainbow-y thing, and so on.
This partial success is even more frustrating than a total failure.

Your original post said you installed CM9. You did not. You just rooted your stock rom. You might want to edit the title of the post to 'Manual Nooter installed properly, Gapps not working. Then take that CM9 Eyeballer statement out of the text in the first post and you might get some proper responses from folks.
Sure enough.

Ah... I was under the impression that Eyeballer was a version name of CM9. None of the sets of instructions I read made it clear to me that wasn't the case.
I ended up doing a factory reset, then reinstalling everything. The picture is far rosier now -- it finally looks the way I pictured!
Thanks!

Eyeballer does build a version of CM9. But that has nothing to do with what you did. You ran Manual Nooter, which is a tool to root your stock installation. CM9 is a completely different version of Android than stock is. And when you install CM9, your stock is completely removed and replaced by CM9.
You do not have CM9 installed, you have just rooted your stock rom.
Anyway, I'm glad you got it working.
Edit: I see you modified your original post to say you did later install CM9.
[ROM][NC] Unofficial CM9 Nightly builds - with/without OpenGL
I don't have enough posts in XDA to post in the (goo dot gl/vPJcM) actual ROM thread so I'm hoping someone will see it here.
After installing the CM7 ROM a long time ago. they Nook wasn't able to boot into CWM. I can only access the recovery using a bootable SD card. That may or may not matter.
Yesterday I installed both the 3 SEP OpenGL and 4 SEP versions of Eyeballers CM9 ROM along with GAPPS. In both versions I cannot get bast the Setup Wizard since it "unfortunately Closed" every time I "touch the Android".
I did install the ROM w/o GAPPS as a temporary fix but will need to eventually access the Play Store.
I did notice that CWM still wont boot into recovery and the Cyanoboot won't either. Cyanoboot takes me to what appears to be a stock Nook screen claiming that an install has failed and that I should power on/off or contact customer service.
Does anybody have any suggestions?
Thanks!

You do not have CWM installed on internal memory (emmc). That message you are getting means you still have the stock recovery there. You need to flash a CWM to emmc using your bootable CWM card. Look in my tips thread linked in my signature. Look at item A8 and the subheading 'to fix a corrupted or missing recovery on emmc'.
I don't know how to solve your other problem with gapps, other than to do a factory reset with CWM.
From what I can tell, Eyeballer is mostly drinking.

Success! errr..sort of.
Prior to flashing gapps I was able to reboot into CWM. Thank you so much for your help!
Still having the same issue with setup manager after factory reset and wipe of all cache.
If anyone has a work around or another suggestions for CM9 on the NC I'd much appreciate it.
Thanks again.
