[MOD] Fix Bug Sync Bookmarks + Browser 3.2.2 ◄► HC 3.2.x ◄► i957/P7300/P7310/P7320
ATTENTION: who intends to make these changes must have sufficient knowledge of the Android system also needs to know that these changes involve the loss of data such as "history", "favorite", cache navigation and browser configuration. Use of this guide is at the risk of those who apply, I will not be liable for damage or loss of more data on any device.
With this guide, we can resolve the problem of synchronization of stock browser bookmarks with Android Honeycomb (only for version 3.2.x no ICS 4.0.x) and replace the stock browser with version 3.2.2 much better. Of course you can replace only the browser, or only the files to fix the bug of synchronization without changing your browser.
We use a SGH-i957 with CWM, a file manager that allows you to manage files in the root of the tablet (superuser permission) and the two following files (pass:ikaro):
http://www.2shared.com/file/bpu-TkhR/Browser.html
http://www.2shared.com/file/U025RLLA/ChromeBookmarksSyncAdapter.html
These two files are taken from a MOD ROM for SGT P7500 and only work on Honeycomb 3.2.x (HC 3.2 or higher, no ICS). I tried both of which SGT P7500 SGH-i957 but I'm pretty sure it also works with P7300/P7310/P7320 (which I have not personally tested).
INSTRUCTIONS
We start by “force stop” the stock browser and “clear data”:

We open the file editor, go to the dir "/system/app" and rename the files (so they can be reused if we want to restore the initial conditions):
Browser.apk ► Browser.apk.old
Browser.odex ► Browser.odex.old
ChromeBookmarksSyncAdapter.apk ► ChromeBookmarksSyncAdapter.apk.old
ChromeBookmarksSyncAdapter.odex ► ChromeBookmarksSyncAdapter.odex.old

Now copy the files you have downloaded “Browser.apk” and “ChromeBookmarksSyncAdapter.apk” in to root dir "/system/app" (note that these will have the same names of the files we want to replace):

We check that the "permissions" of the two copied files are just like in the picture:

Just restart your tablet in "recovery mode" select "advanced" then "wipe dalvik cache" and "yes":

We exit the "recovery mode" then restarting the tablet (note that the first reboot of the tablet takes longer than normal). We find the browser icon (new) in the applications:

We configure your browser to the google account to activate the synchronization of bookmarks (if you want you can also easily configure the "user agent" on the desktop):

Done!
IMPORTANT: check that in your browser Chrome "synchronized data" ARE NOT ENCRYPTED!!!
This guide is my small contribution to the community that uses the SGH-i957 but it can also be applied to European models SGT P7500/P7510 (tested personally) and SGT P7300/P7310/P7320 (not tested personally).

I have the american model of the P7310 with the firmware available on this post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1482996
This trick doesn't work for me, it does however change the graphics of the browser and adds the UA String selector in the settings.
MY bookmarks keep pretending they are syncing indefinitely like they did before.

Nice job on this. How would this change with a deodexed rom though?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using xda premium

HI! if you can pls give us deodexed rom!!! We all need it!!!

ok DBBGBA
check that you have successfully replaced the file "ChromeBookmarksSyncAdapter.apk"
restart your tablet in "recovery mode" select "advanced" then "wipe dalvik cache"
Go to "settings> applications> manage applications" search "google sync bookmarks" and select "Force Stop" and "clear date". Restart the tablet.
Check that your bookmarks are present in your "dashboard" in "synchronization chrome".
In your browser chrome checks that the "synchronized data" are NOT encrypted
Let me know if you solve

My files "Browser.apk" and "ChromeBookmarksSyncAdapter.apk" are taken from a MOD deodexed ROM for P7500, then there should be no problems if used in other deodexed ROM based on HC 3.2.x
Max

Solved. I had to disconnect my google account from chrome, delete the chrome syncronization from my dashboard and re-activate the sync on chrome.
Grazie!

I think this is the problem. On my chrome when I go to: Preferences > Personal Stuff > Sign In > Advanced... > Encrypted Data Types
I can't make a choice. Encrypt all synced data is selected and both options are greyed out.
Do you have any idea how to select "Encrypt passwords" instead?

Good Work DBBGBA!!!
Now your bookmarks are synced????
And your browser 3.2.2 is ok???
Max

Thank you thank you thank you!

Yes they are!

hey guys,
are the passwords supposed to sync on android?
Chrome across desktop platforms is sync'ing bookmarks and passwords but on mobile it's not doing the passwords.

Weird, all of a sudden, all bookmarks are gone and it won't sync again.
I'll redo the process.

Does anyone have these files, or know which ROM these came from? Wondering if this might work on my flyer.

Replace TNT Lite Settings Display

I really hate the TNT settings display. So I create an update to replace the Settings.apk and SettingsProvider.apk to change them back to stock Android 2.2. This is a post for anybody that wants to do the same.
Edit:
I have added a rollback update.
Instructions:
download to root of sdcard.
Start tablet while holding volume + and power.
"install zip from scard"
"choose zip from sdcard"
select .zip

Will this give us access to more settings than TnT? (I'd really like to be able to set a lock pin/pattern and a few other settings to adjust)
Yes. to all the settings. But lock pin/pattern does not seem to work in TNT. Going to research it some more. Also "Auto Brightness" does not work. But everything else seems to work.

I just want to do this to enable wifi location but I will switch back...I like their settings
Auto brightness is working on TnT settings for me, does this break that?
Read this first, please
I've tried to do this a few times -- but, from my experience, two things break:
- Brightness adjustment. Minor, as you can add an Market app or a widget to get around that. But....
- You can't add new widgets or shortcuts on your home screen. This is the one that kept me from changing the Settings apk in TnT Lite.
Not sure if this is fixed on the zip in this thread, as I haven't tested it.
Btw, you can add alternate keyboards if you use a stock Settings apk (ie. wiimote) -- so that's a plus.

I think it could be infinity useful if i can hook up to wpa then roll back to tnt settings. Don't get me wrong.
Just a warning "this will not allow you to put widgets on your screen" would be nice
Keep at it though, I am truly looking forward to a fully featured normal android settings wonder if the zpad settings apk would work?
Thank you for the roll back seemed to fix te setting fc I was receiving from tnt 2.1

The way I figured out:
Thanks to this, I can now use UltraKeyboard and SwiftKey on the gtablet running with TnT Lite 2.1.1.
Here's what I did:
* Install CWM recovery. Instructions: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=844088
* Reboot into CWM recovery
* Wipe everything
* Install TnT Lite 2.0 (the update.zip inside gtab_tnt_lite_v2.00.zip) and the 2.1.1 supplement (update.zip inside gtab_tnt_lite_v2.11_suppl.zip) from zip Instructions: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=842004
* Reboot into TnT Lite 2.1.1
* Install Titanium Backup by side loading from the official site (http://matrixrewriter.com/android/)
* Perform the market fix. Instructions: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=845175
* Install 3rd party keyboards in Market (I tried UltraKeyboard and SwiftKey)
* Note that you can't enable the 3rd party keyboards in Language & Keyboard
* Reboot into CWM recovery
* Install the stock Settings in the OP from zip (hhttp://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=9532446&postcount=1 Replace_TNT_Settings.zip)
* Reboot into TnT Lite 2.1.1

* Reboot into CWM recovery
* Rollback back to the TnT settings from zip (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=9532446&postcount=1 Rollback_TNT_Settings.zip)
I can now use the various keyboards (including the Tap 'n Tap Western keyboard) and switch between them by long-clicking in a text field and choosing Input Method.
If only this thing had a wider viewing angle I wouldn't have to return it. Sigh.
Yup going to use it tomorrow to try and set up wpa at work

Hey Roebeet not sure if you meant stock as TnT settings or not.
In case it didn't: Your system setting (from TnT Lite)also allow for wiimote and other alt keyboards. I have it installed both with instruction from here in XDA Gtablet. Just placing them on system/app changing permissions and installing them.
Reinstallation Issues?

I had read in another forum of phones behaving in similar matter. FCs happening to applications, only by adb pulling and then pushing them back did the FCs go away. It was like a reset in the android OS. Like the settings, these were system apps.
My TNT Settings are still FCing after Removing and Reapplying the TNT. Is this working for anyone else?
The regular Android Settings didn't FC, maybe I'll use that as default and only revert to add widgets.

[MOD] Sense 3.0 Mail.apk with exchange pin security disabled

Alright kids, after much trial and error, here is a working Sense 3.0 Mail.apk with exchange pin security disabled for those who hate entering a pin every time they want to unlock their phone.
Other Sense 3.0 ROMs have successfully cracked their Mail.apks to get around this, but none of them ever worked properly with the Thunderbolt... but our wait is finally over
I made sure to mod the apk to disable ONLY the pin security while leaving all other security measures intact
INSTRUCTIONS (it's also never a bad idea to make a nandroid backup first):
For the Mail.apk
1) Download the attached Mail.apk
2) Mount the system as R/W (either using Root Explorer or 'adb remount')
3) Copy the new Mail.apk to system/app via root explorer and overwrite the older file when it asks, or push the file to system/app via adb
4) Set permissions as rw-r--r--
5) Reboot
6) After reboot, open up the Mail app and set up your exchange account all the way through naming the account, then hit 'Finish Setup'
7) You will be prompted to enable security policy... this is normal so hit 'OK'
8) You will get to another screen asking you to activate security policies... again, this is normal so select 'Activate'. From here on out you will never be prompted to enter a pin
9) Profit!
For the PatchedMail.zip
1) Download the .zip and toss it on your SD card
2) Reboot into CWM
3) WIPE DALVIK-CACHE!!! (Won't work properly if you don't do this)
4) Install the .zip then reboot
5) Follow steps 6-9 above
If you have issues, try clearing dalvik-cache when installing
NOTE: This only works with Sense 3.0, it will not work if trying to flash over the Sense 2.0/1 Mail.apk. And yes, this IS working on Gingerbread ROMs
Enjoy!
Love it! Too bad I am running the ofmgb ROM

Where can I get this for a non sense ROM?

Does this app have both security check-box options that come in the stock Email.apk app?
"Use secure connection (SSL)"
"Accept all SSL certificates"
I need both checked (and available) to access my work exchange server, and the Sense MAIL.apk doesn't include the latter check box, for some kooky reason.
Thanks!
Thank you, Thank you, Thank you. I've been waiting for this for a while. I was using Touchdown but that sucks, lol. Thanks again.

This is still the Sense Mail.apk, I just edited the smails in the apk to return the pin security whenever the app requests it. You won't gain any new functionality with this mod so the 'use secure ssl' option is still the only one that shows up
Do you know if this apk can be used on an Evo 4G with Gingerbread? The Sense 3.0 mail that comes with the Evo 3D is the only one that can do push Hotmail in HTML (other than TouchDown). Thanks.
Thank you so much!
Will this also fix the problem I have with not having Exchange emails pushed as frequently as they are on Froyo?

I don't see how. This just circumvents the pin or password policy pushed by exchange admins.
I just wanna throw this out there for some people.
PLEASE KNOW/UNDERSTAND your security policies at work, using this mod could/may be grounds for termination or civil penalties by your Employer.
Is anyone having problems with the setting for HTML emails as default sticking? It will stay for a bit but then later in the day it will be on plain text.

Sorry for the dumb question. What is the difference between the Mail.apk and PatchedMail.apk?
Im guessing that Mail.apk replaces the native app while PatchedMail.apk patches the native app. Is that right?
thanks,
Scott
I finally tried mail.apk with my Tbolt running NonS3ns3. First, the list of mail providers was blank when the app first started. I was able to select the 1st slot which was the one for AES. Then I got a forced closed when I tried to configure my Exchange server.
I thought NonS3ns3 was a Sense ROM and that the modified mail.apk would work.
Any suggestions?

Did you use the .apk file or the flashable zip? did you have to fix permissions?

[TUT] Android Market Movies Tab for HC3.2 Rooted

I've read about renting Android Market Movies other places, but have yet to find a real tutorial that is step by step without some hacked Videos application. I have succeeded using Android Market Movies tab and Google's "Videos" app on a rooted device using the steps below. Renting movies, downloading for later, etc and watching movies all work when I do the following things in the following order. Do NOT deviate or it will not work.
As always, the caveats...
It is your choice and your choice alone if you follow this Tutorial. This is not a ROM support thread, ClockWorkMod support thread, or even a Google Movies support thread. This is only a Tutorial and Your mileage may vary. There is no guarentee this will work. You may kill your A500 tablet, your mom, your firstborn, and Santa by performing these steps and it's your own darn fault if you do.
Prerequisite 1--> ROM: Install HC3.2 U.S. 7.006.01 GEN2 Rooted for ClockWorkMod FOUND HERE
(Once you are done setting up Google account sync and installing all your apps EXCEPT Android Market Video's app.)
***OR if you are using a custom ROM, then install the stock build.prop from HC3.2 US 7.006.01 GEN2 Rom (this is untested, so let me know if this works on other ROMs. Android Market and Android Market Movies refer to build.prop and search for "Su" to enable or disable the Market movies tab. Build.prop is located in /system/ within ROM linked above. Refer to 2nd post here below this post for build.prop install directions).
Prerequisite 2--> Location: ONLY Tested in U.S., so I can't say this will work in other countries
Prerequisite 3--> Kernel: STAY ON STOCK HC3.2 7.006.01 GEN2 KERNEL
Prerequisite 4--> Build.prop --> Leave Build.Prop stock (If you're like me you tweak it for performance or to see more apps in market).
Prerequisite 5--> Using Titanium Backup (Market Link) or another uninstall tool with root privileges "wipe data" of Google Video app and then uninstall Google "Video" app (I also own the Titanium Pro key and I highly suggest you buy this if you haven't purchased it. This is not an ad and I am in no way associated with this app or developer. This tool has just saved my android devices many times, literally in fact.
Now on to Instructions...
1. Install Voodoo OTA RootKeeper from market --> Market Link
2. Open app and click "protect root" button --> then click "Temp. un-root"
3. Close Voodoo OTA Rootkeeper
4. Install Advanced Task Manager or ATK (Let's not debate whether it's needed for HC or not please, this app is needed later to get Google Video's app to work)--> Market Link
5. Click Apps drawer > Settings > Applications > Manage Applications > All > Scroll down and Click "Market" > click "Force Stop" > click "Clear cache" > click "Clear data" (Prerequisite- Tested on Android Market 3.4.4)
6. Shut Down A500 Tablet & boot into Acer ClockWorkMod (Press Power + Volume down at boot--> release power button one white text in upper left of screen appears)
7. In CWM--> Wipe Menu > Wipe Cache > Wipe dalvik cache > go back > reboot system
8. Once booted (takes a while when you delete dalvik cache), use ATK to kill all apps you know use rooted privileges (i.e.- titanium backup, Superuser whitelist, etc). This is just a precautionary measure.
9. Launch Android Market and install Google "Video" 1.4.2 (Prerequisite-Must never have launched Google Video's app beforehand. If you have opened Videos app before, then clear cache of "Videos" app just like you did in Step 5 above for "Market" app and also clear Market app cache & data while there to make sure. Then begin step 9 again)
10. Go back to ATK and close any root privileged apps (paranoia sets in
11. Launch Google Videos app > If you have more than one Google Account, it will ask you to select account > Access Request dialog window click "Allow" (I had a 2nd dialog window asking to Allow Google Plus App, so click "Allow" again).
12. Click "Shop in upper right"
13. Select a movie, rent it, play or download it --> If success, then "you're in like Flynn" or "Golden" or "Yeah Baby" or "Your Welcome" Nick Burns, company computer guy

HD edition of Android Market Movies
So Google owns Motorola now. I discovered upon observing my buddies Verizon Motorola Xoom Android Market Movies Tab, that he has HD versions of movie rentals. 1st I thought that is awesome, 2nd I was pissed off that Google would screw the rest of the Tegra2 owners out of extra Market content simply because we don't have a Motorola logo on back. So, here's a way to get Motorola HD Android Market Movies special edition on your Acer Iconia.
I have Iconia-ized the attached Motorola Xoom HC3.2 stock build.prop by removing or by adding ";" before all lines with references to CDMA.
1. install ES explorer from android market. In settings, enable root.
2. Navigate to /system/ and safely backup your build.prop file by renaming it build.prop.clean or something like that.
3. Unzip and copy the included build.prop in the attachment to /system/
4. Change permissions to match build.prop.clean that you just backed up.
5. Now refer to 1st post and go through each step to unlock Android Market Movies Tab with newly available HD movies! Sweet!

The major difference is that you have the ROM in zip file and the ROM is deodexed, zipaligned and the /system/app folder has been moved to /data/app and it supports init.d script support.
Majority of the difference is behind the User Interface. In terms of user interface they both look alike.
Have you restored your phone to Factory settings considering your problem?

Flashed your ROM, everything working fine with great speed and also the battery life got improved dramatically. Very nice work.
Yes, I restored to the factory settings but no success, looks like hardware fault. Tried wifix manager app from play store but still the wifi and mobile data disconnect while screen turns off.

Thanks for your positive feedback
Have you tried this?
Goto System Settings > Under Wireless and Networks Tap WLAN > press menu key and tap advanced > Tap Keep WLAN on during sleep and select always.
Now your phone won't disconnect, if this is the case.

Thank you for your suggestion. This is the first thing I have done, but wifi and mobile data sleeps automatically. I have tried stock roms from different devices like saadusmani's ROM and your ROM but nothing improved in wifi and mobile data connection. I should claim warranty.
But before that I need to unroot the phone and change the stock splash screen (screen before boot animation). Do you know how to change the splash screen to stock Qmobile screen?
Restore to stock firmware by downloading it from www.ehtisham.com or www.labandroid.com

[Guide] SMS/MMS on sdcard/Synced on MultiRom

This guide will show you how to move your SMS and MMS database to your sdcard. This is useful when using multirom to keep your messages in sync while switching roms, and will also eliminate the need for third party apps to back up messages when clean flashing.
This should work to sync all stock/AOSP based ROMs, or all CM based ROMs. It will not sync stock/AOSP roms with CM roms due to differences in the database structure. It should keep any message apps in sync, as they all get their info from the same database.
I will be using Root Explorer for this guide, but i assume any full feature file explorer will do the trick.
How to make it happen:
1) Navigate a tab to: data/data/com.android.providers.telephony
This tab will be called "Tab 1" for the rest of the guide
There should be 3 folders, if you haven't sent or received an MMS there may only be 2.
1a)If there is only 2, create a new folder and name it: app_parts
2)Navigate another tab to your sdcard and create a folder to store your messages in. You can name it anthing you wish, I use "SMS".
Open your newly created folder. This tab will be called "Tab 2" for the rest of the guide.
3) In Tab 1. Select and copy the folder "app_parts". Switch to Tab 2 and paste the "app_parts" folder
4) In Tab 1. Open the "databases" folder. Select and copy "mmssms.db" and "mmssms.db-journal". Switch to Tab 2 and paste "mmssms.db" and "mmssms.db-journal"
5) In Tab 2. Long press "mmssms.db-journal" and select "Link to this file" (it is the last option on the list)
5a) In Tab 1. Select and delete "mmssms.db-journal" Then click "Create link" (it is the bottom left button)
6) In Tab 2. Long press "mmssms.db" and select "Link to this file"
6a) In Tab 1. Select and delete "mmssms.db" Then click "Create link"
7) In Tab 1. Go back to parent folder. Which will put you back at: data/data/com.android.providers.telephony
7a) In Tab 2. Long press "app_parts" and select "Link to this file"
7b) In Tab 1. Select and delete the folder "app_parts" Then click "Create link"
8) Reboot and enjoy!
Once you have done all of this the first time you will only need to follow steps 5-8 when flashing a new ROM.
If it works and you like it, give a thanks or leave feedback.
Usefull!!! Will try this between a stock and an cm rom (if i ever find the time).

Let me know if that works, it never would on LP for me. The databases appeared to be the same but, would always cause repeated force closes. The databases seemed to be the same from a quick look but clearly they were different.
I just tried. Installed a new ROM. Didn't work
But would be GREAT to get this working.
Does this look right?

Looks to be correct. What roms are you running?
If you are on stock, or a custom rom that doesn't come with it, be sure to install busybox.

The one I copied from was CM13 nightly. I tried to recover into Chroma .... But the one I sent photos from was a fresh install on multirom of PureNexus. Any suggestions?

Yeah, unfortunately that is not going to work. As I said in the op I never tried it on MM, but on LP you couldn't sync CM with stock/AOSP. Seems it still holds true on MM, but will take a look into it a bit further and see if I can come up with anything.
If you were to do the same on a CM based rom it should sync with CM13. Or you could get chroma and pure nexus to sync.
You can delete the links in the telephony folder and the files will recreate themselves.

I'm going to keep playing with it but I did try to go back and reestablish the links between chroma and pure Nexus. The weird thing that I noticed was that there were text messages recreated in messenger which is the native pure Nexus text messaging app but the text messages were not present in textra which is the app that I use for text messaging
None of your texts showed up in textra, but they did in messenger? I installed textra and it worked fine for me, not sure what could be going on for you

I did another rom and they did. But for some reason, not in Pure Nexus?

If your mmssms.db is from a CM based rom it will not work in Pure Nexus. I have PN as my primary and that is what I first came up with this solution for. I use the stock messaging app but have tried multiple apps and all the ones I have tried pick up messages normally.
That being said, I imagine their could be some mishaps with apps that were already installed and were populated with messages and then had their database switched with one that contains older messages. I can't confirm that as I've never had the problem, just a suspicion. If it is indeed the case, wiping data for that app would probably get it working right
What rom did your mmssms.db come from originally? And what roms does it work with and what roms doesn't it work with?
I found another folder, /data/data/com.android.messaging with a couple databases that seemed to mess up names. I changed the extention to .backup
Anyone know where the message are on the Android n preview 3? I'm not seeing them in the same folder as marshmallow
