I have recently put on my phone Pdaimatejam 7.3 and everything seems to work fine except one thing, I can't get my phone activated to use the windows live things. I am a huge noob when it comes to this stuff so the answer may be obvious but I have no idea so any help will be very appreciated.

Hello!
Isn't any wp7 Rom at this moment that allows you live services! Even if it is called full unlocked... So ... You have to activate your service at Microsoft... It's not a big deal... Or just use Xap market, is already on your IE favourites!
Cheers!

Yes, there has been THREE updates, but I just see that as being responsive to peoples requests and fixing issues.
For me, it has been extremely more stable then the current version of Ultrafruit, and I haven't had too many problems. I use it heavily as a daily phone without any problems. And as the OP asked, Live services are running great. I was not able to download Live games on Ultrafruit.

Easiest way is to request an activation code via chat function on Microsoft page. Worked for me in UK, I told them phone was an HD7.
There are plenty of threads in this forum on how to do this, a quick search will reveal all the answers you need.. Good luck

Bug is bug, is matter more or less and can it be Daily used?

no more bug in Pdaimatejam rom than in a 'official' release from htc in his WP7 phone !!
when i read his posts, i think W.P.7 is against any change !!
so he must stay with is old WM6 ^^

any one else having problems with the proximity sensor during phone calls?
I make the call, place the phone next to my face, it turns off the screen then its right back on and i end up hanging up or the speaker phone comes on and it loud as all hell...

Installing WM7 or Android on X1 in the future - theoretically possible?

Good afternoon, dear gurus!
First, thank you very much for this resourse(xda-developers.com), I've already found a lot of useful information here, thanks for supporting it!
I've heard that Windows Mobile has a huge problem with phone networks. People say that WM can turn into "temporary unable to receive calls and sms", although all icons show that everything works fine. Some people changed their devices to non-WM ones because of this problem.
As long as it's well-known WM bug, I assume that it will be fixed in WM7 or if not - it will be absent in Android(I hope). Therefore I have a question, can it be theoretically possible to flash Xperia X1 with a WM7 or Android firmware?
Thank you very much for your answer in advance.

Understood, 50% of this question is clear. How about WM7? Any predictions?
depends on the drivers i guess.
if WM7 jsut runs on our phone theres a pretty good chance that we'll get it. if not, then we either have to hope that SE code drivers or some1 here.
id say it will work. both btw

You are wrong, that is not true. There is no bug like this in any version of WM available. If someone say that then it could be becouse of poor device, or carrier problems, or wrong usage, but this is not a Windows Mobile bug/problem. Everyone with long practice on WM on this forum will tell you that.

I better be wrong, because I've already ordered my Xperia X1 and was shocked when heard that thing... I hope that X1 with its memory amount and processor power will not show this issue.

Add faulty simcard to that list. You can get really weird problems with a bad sim.
It's the most common problem (heard this from both SE and my serviceprovider)

No newbieguide, "how to`" from the scratch?

I simply don't know how to install programs on my HD2. I don't know where to install them either. I installed a newer rom version a month ago or so, but I just put it in a random place on my phone. I would really appreciate some help, because I am NOT satisfied with my HD2 atm. Sucks to write messages on it, it sucks to go through my contacts, because suddenly it lags and calls a person while I'm scrolling.
Guides like this doesn't help me AT ALL.

I mean, I have never had a wm-phone before. I'm used to ipa's and apps/hacks on Ipod Touch. That's it.

You download .cab files, then place them anywhere on your phone and then run them from there, it will ask you if you would like to install to memory card or phone memory.
Simple, dont go complaining about other peoples thread, that one isnt even supposed to guide you through installing programs.
I wasn't complaining, I just said that I don't know what the purpose is, and that there are no ohter newbie guides to people like me. I was just saying that you didn't have to link me to those guides, because I don't understand them. But thanks, I didn't know that it doesn't matter where I put the files.

Just do plenty of reading, that's how most of us learn.
A Nokia 2110 is better.
No worries about installation.
Phone works perfect.
No touchscreen, no mistyping.
Nothing to learn about.
Could fit your needs.
Or an iPhone... similar functions...
If not, try and read trough this forum.

Android .exe is there one?

Hi all have had my HD2 for 3 months now and have all the usual issues and it has been back to Vodafone a few times I dont really want to get rid of it as it is perfect size etc for vids and calendar sms for and an old codger like me for work with bad eyesight..
Heres the question I am not brain of britain at this sort of thing and want to know if there is an Android .exe I can run from my micro sd card that has all the upgraded stuff you need for a stable phone........I can add apps and that sort of thing but my technical knowledge is somewhat vague....I dont understand what Froyo is and your terms for radio this that and the other and could be surfing on here for days and not understand much....
I understand the dual boot bit as in the Windows operating system ( or not as the case is )
and Android effectively runs over the top of it but thats as far as I can get...
Any help would be gratefully received..
Regards Lee F
ps has anyone else had their phone dial out evertime you play a track on Nitro?....I came back from France to find each time I changed a song it dialed hope for 10 seconds and had a huge bill of .75p connection charge some 90 odd times......
what ....when ...how...im confused
Android is in fact a whole other system compared to Windows Mobile, and as of now, it isn't completely finished/'out of beta' yet. It is still less stable than Windows Mobile is on your device.
What I do suggest you to do is take a look at this thread, and get started with HSPL'ing your phone, so you can install a custom ROM:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=609477
The phone dialing out is one thing it shouldn't be doing for sure.
Actually sounds like a trojan horse.
Did you change the song with your wired headset? Because it can be used to dial the last dialed number that could be your problem. Also some earphones/speakers without a button can sometimes initiate it when you move the plug around....

Well, that's no way to treat a fellow! Y'ought to explain to 'im.
Android on the HD2 is not finished yet (and will always require things like flashing or other not noob safe things) and has therefore some bugs, problems and limitations. For someone who isn't that good with technical things and hasn't read/understood all those guides it could cause some problems and misunderstandings etc. I can imagine someone sending in his HD2 for repair because his ambient light sensor doesn't work in Android...
...or at least opening some threads here and asking tons of dumb questions that could be easily answered by reading the stickies or using the search.

There is no such .exe file. To Run Android you only need to run a .exe and a few files with it. But without a suitable Radio (the part of you operating system that is responsible for Wifi, Bluetooth, GPS and everything else that sends/receives data over the air), you will get problems. But finding and updating a suitable Radio sadly isn't as easy as running a .exe
But there are many guides on it which should help you, in case you still want to do it.
Buddy,
Right at the top of the forum here there are sticky threads that contain all the information you need to get HD2 running android. Please post you're questions there instead of opening a new thread.

[Q] HD2, Android confusion?

Hey guys.
I'm a little confused about Android on the HD2. I've done a little research, but haven't found full answers, could someone clear this up for me a little bit? Sorry to sound like a idiot, I'm just getting in to ROM's and stuff.
1. Is there a FULLY Working Android ROM, with no lag etc. for the HD2, If so, what version is it? If not, what's missing, and will it effect usage majorly?
2. Do you have to ROOT it first, or just use a Bootloader, as I only really know about Rooting on Android, and is it easy to ROOT A HD2?
3. If I do put Android on there, is it easy to revert back to Windows mobile, and if I keep changing the ROM, will it damage the phone?
I'll be getting one on T-Mobile UK If that helps.
Thanks to anyone who can help

there are many threads with guide and faq... however:
1. there is 90% "working" android rom... you can check it out the builds, i use darkstone HD2Froyo_V2.1 and I like it... on top of rom topics chef explains what works and what doesn't work.
2. just use a Bootloader, rom is already rooted
3. you don't delete winmo, android starts on sdcard after winmo starts (haret.exe). you don't need to flash any.
sorry for my english
try to read faq & guide threads for instructions

Oh okay, so its sort of like Dual-booting then? And is there a guide for using the Bootloader etc?
And, if I just removed the SD Card, would it boot in to Winmo? And are people still making Android ROM's for the HD2?
Thanks
Your phone will automatically boot into windows whenever you reboot your phone unless you have a dualboot program installed and then you get asked the option.
i've been running the darkstone HD2Froyo_V2.1 android rom also and i like it too, although i still primarily run my HD2 in windows and just goto android for some of the apps and have a look about in the market etc...
Its an awesome feature and has made the HD2 which i already loved, just plain awesome...
So this ROM that you're both talking about, does it have calls, texts etc? Anyone got a list of what works and what doesn't?
Also, how hard is the Dual boot program to install?
The dual boot program is a .cab, so its retarded easy to install.
Yes, calls and texting work. But you'll get a robot voice unless you flash your WM to a cooked rom.
I'm also using darkstone's froyo w/ sense. Its the only version that has proven to provide me with consistent stability, and I currently use it as my primary o/s. Granted its not as smooth as mattc leo 1.6, it has yet to give me a SOD or lock up on me. The battery drain was too rediculous for me at first, but I flashed my radio to 1.11 and it's been great ever since.
Minor drawbacks: screen will lag from time to time (small 3 second freeze, easily fixed by lock/unlock), 3 mp camera is a bit of a set back, and the Facebook integration is limited to the people you've only recently become friends with v/s your old friends.
For me, these are minor set backs. I came from an iPhone, so WM felt limited in some areas that Android has let me feel free in again! (Both great os's though)
You're going to have to play around with it to get the best personal results.
Check out some of the threads talking about different combinations.
Good Luck!
I was going to to grab the spoon.
But it seems that everyone has done it for me. Take a look around.

[Q] New to WP7 and Samsung Focus

Hi, I'm a big fan of WP7 and I'm finally getting my first device, it was supposed to be a Lumia 800 but I had some issues with the order and considering some personal aspects, I decided to buy the Samsung Focus and wait for the Apollo-designed devices later this year.
I'm preparing everything for the phone (any advice will be appreciated), I linked my live account with Flickr and Facebook, I synced some content to Skydrive and bought a 16gb Markvision class 4 microSD (I didn't find any Markvision microSD in the compatible list so I guess I'll get a random result), something else to have in mind?
Lastly, I have some question regarding the OS and the unlock of the phone: 1. I have experiencie with iOS and the version's structure, and even with Android, but I can't understand the nomenclature in WP7 (I get 7.5 mango and so on but not the 7.10.7720), if someone can explain me a little bit about it or show me a link to some information I'll appreciate it. 2. How can I unlock the phone? (Jailbreak) I found many posts and videos but not sure if the jailbreak works with Mango, or if I can unlock WP7 and update to mango or what process should I make?*
Thank you very much and hope someone can help me! I've already read the samsung focus wiki and many posts in the forum but any link will help! Thanks!
Welcome to the forum!
I suggest you start with reading the Focus wiki, for starters (in my sig). I think the card should be fine, if it doesn't retain data (ie pictures, videos, apps, music) between soft resets (turn off/turn on) then it's not compatible. Most C4 cards should be ok.
Now, for your questions:
1.
7.5 is the "generic" name for the Mango update to WP7 (aka Windows Phone 7). The numbers in 7.10.7720 represent:
7=OS number
10=generation. read more about versions here. Started with 7.0.xxxx and Mango is 7.10.7xxx (similar to Service Pack for Windows, if you prefer).
7720 is the OS (WP7) build/version. Mango RTM starts at 7720 build. Current released build is 8107
2.
To dev unlock (jailbreak) the phone, follow the 1st post in my signature or go here
Good luck using your first WP7 phone, Focus is a really nice phone. And feel free to ask questions
Thanks!
Thank you very much!
So the unlock that you mentioned will work even in the last 8107 update?
Other thing I don't like is the customization that AT&T put in the phone, and considering that I won't use ot in the US, its kind of meaningless, is there any way to flash the device to a clean WP7 version and then update it to Mango also free of AT&T things?
Lastly, about the updates, is WP7 like iPhone, so Apple send the update to every phone no matter the carrier or country? Or the carrier define when to update? If is the second option, can we manually force an update? And since I use a Mac, I'm worried if the software for Mac users is able to update the phone or not.
Thanks again and its great to see a big community around WP7!

You're welcome.
Yes, WindowBreak project works with the latest 8107 build.
The cleanest stock rom is the Rogers rom. There are a few custom roms as well. You can flash Rogers rom on your AT&T and use it with no problems (I have mine like that).
Updates: MS releases the updates but they are delivered by the carriers. You can manually update, read this thread. If you're on Rogers, you won't have to, though
Question about hardware vesion
Thank you very much! I'm learning a lot! I have a quick question, I guess that the phone that will arrive is version 1.4 (because its from the last ones) so is there any way to put the rogers rom?
If not, I've heard that the best way to "clean" AT&T rom is to delete the preinstalled aaplicationds and activating things like the SMS send/recived check, but I don't know the name and where I can get that app, can you help me with that?
Thank you again for all the information!

You're welcome.
For 1.4, you can just remove the apps and enable the SMS delivery notification. The only thing left will be the logo, but that's ok
Alternately, you can try a custom ROM for 1.4 but I have to warn you that a very few users had issues being stuck at Samsung logo after flashing custom roms. Vast majority is fine.
Great phone!
Hi,
It took me a long to respond but it's because the phone arrived and it's just amazing!
I installed the 16GB SD card, so far so good, jailbreaked it with windowbreak and playing around with all the amazing features!
The screen is good, although there is a little annoying thing with the tiny grid surrounding the pixels.
Anyways, I'd like to answer a few more things if there is no problem with that!
1. The zune player is great, but the videos I saw showed some kind of integration with Zune marketplace, as I live outside the US, I understand that I can't access the music marketplace, but there is no way to at least see the artist bio or the image of the artist? I saw a topic about this but I didn't found an answer
2. My phone's version is 7.10.7720.68 and zune didn't found any update, is there anyway to force the update to the latest version?
3. How do I install the WP7 Tools and the Samsung Tools?
4. Is there anyway to change the tiles color? I saw a tutorial but I've heard that I doesn't work in mango.
Thank you very much for everything! Sorry to bother too much but this is the best forum to topics related to WP7!

Glad you like the phone, you're not the only one It may be a bit obsolete today compared to the new releases but except for the new bling (camera or screen improvements) it performs about the same. Plus you have additional space. You'll get used to the screen, don't worry
1. This one I'll leave for music fans... I'm definitely not an expert in Zune
2. As I said earlier, read this thread to manually update (it's recommended)
3. See points 3&4 here (also in my sig)
4. Possible on Mango. Read here and here (lots of themes, Metro is probably closer to what you're asking)
You're welcome! Trust me, you're just starting to see what WP7 can do. Just browse through the threads (ie here), you'll find a lot of interesting things.
If you're a developer, that's even better, you can add, customize and do things your way!
