[Q] KIN OneM keyboard help? - KIN One and Two General

My KIN OneM has a keyboard problem, it is stuck on symbols (and no, not because of the green button) I took my battery out for a day and it still isn't working. Everything else is fine, the keyboard just isn't working how it should. This is my second KIN, the last one had a similar problem to this one and was traded.
Any idea on how to fix it without sending this one in?

Hmmm. Ill have to think about this one. The best thing to do would be to visit your local verizon store or use the warranty. Sorry. I wish I could give you a better answer.

Try to factory reset it.

Problem with XDA EXEC touch screen

Hi guys,
Just wanted to know if anyone else has had a problem with their exec's touch screen in that mine has completely stopped responding. The hardware buttons and keyboard work perfectly, I have tried a hard reset, taken the battery out etc and still nothing. It's odd as it must have stopped working at some point today, but it has been sat in my desk all day so nothing has damaged it to my knowledge. It's really bizarre! Anyhow, O2 have said they're sending a new one out, just got 3-5 working days without my Exec now. It's very odd and I just wondered if anyone else had had trhe same thing happen?
Cheers,
Fin
Sounds like a ROM-related issue. Have you tried a newer ROM (if there is a newer one already)?
I thought it might be software related, but to be honest there is no new ROM I can flash it with (and not invalidate the warranty, since I wouldn't be able to flash it back with the original O2 ROM when I send it back). It's really strange, as it has been working for nearly two weeks absolutely brilliantly and now it has decided to suddenly stop.
Thanks for your reply,
Fin
Anytime, hope you can get it to work again .
I just purchased an Exec yesterday and have been having similar issues with the touchscreen since I first turned it on.
After a while it does work again, but every now and then it stops working, The hardware buttons still work, so the phone is still responding.
Triggers that seem to cause this problem include starting a program, flipping the screen or looking at the phone with an odd look.
When running the update from the my-xda site it already is at that version, so I see no need in patching.
I take it this is a hardware issue that I cannot fix so will be needing to replace the unit?

I have the exact same problem on my m5000, stops working intermitently. Spoke to premier have a brand new handset on its way tommorow morning between 9-1. Not bad service free replacemeant and a brand new sealed box, so extra accesorys minus charger and battery.
Must be a common fault then. Mine started working again suddenlt the day before my new one arrived which was pretty annoying, although by peoples' experience here, it was probably only a matter of time before it packed up again. I have had my replacement a while now and it has so far been working perfectly.
At the moment it can't decide if its working or not.
It seems a couple of flips between landscape & portrait seem to get things working again.
I'll give it the weekend. See how it handles. Then most likely Monday I'll try get it replaced.
What do you reckon the best course of action would be? Go into the O2 shop and see if they'll swap it for a replacement, or contact O2 and get them to send me one.
Since there's always the chance the shop has a batch of duff phones.

Urgent Hwelp Needed...buttons Wont Respond

I was using my phone today and all was working ok, till about 2:30 when I wanted to place a call, and nothing was working anymore.
Apart from the Circle wheel that works , the Call, End, Both Soft Keys, Ok,Windows, Comm Manager Buttons do not work. All of them just stopped working at once. ALL OF THEM.
I thought maybe it was too hot, I turned off the phone for 20 mins and still no go. I have never dropped my phone, not in water, nothing. Have had it for like 3 months now. Could this be software related? Please my phone is basically useless now, as I use the physical keyboards more than I do the touch screen.
Please Help me out
Desperate here please
please people I desperate here. Anyone ever experienced this? I have read most forums and there seems to be no option but to return the phone and get a new one, but I hav no insurance. I called HTC but they were closed. Please any input. I am lost here
htc wont repair or replace your phone. youll need to call ut starcomm and they will repair it for free. if you get mad enough you can even get them to send it back in a couple days. other than that i dont think their is anything that can be done about it. ive never heard of this happening before

Actually it seems to be a common problem with the Mogul, here is a thread that talks only about it
http://www.htcwiki.com/thread/1179470/Mogul+buttons+stopped+working??t=anon
I was shocked myself that problems like this is out there and am not aware. I would have opted for another brand of phone, maybe Touch. Guess I am one of the unlucky ones. Hope everyone learns from me, coz there seems to be no solution ( yet) . Not even HTC.
Well...
This isn't a hardware problem...
It's definitely software... Somewhere...
Hard resets work (requiring pressing and holding of 2 soft buttons) and bootloader mode works (pressing and holding the camera button...)
While the OS is up (flashed a few roms), none of the buttons (other than power, scroll wheel, and D-pad) work at all.
So... hardware wise, the buttons work.
Anyone want to look further into this?
I just got my mogul off Ebay - it was stuck in bootloader mode...
Ran "ExitBL" and no go on the buttons...
What all does ExitBL do?
Anyone else having button problems run this in the past?
Have you tried flashing stock oem carrier rom to the phone to fill in missing registries?
send it back to the seller and get your money back.

No More Landscape, No More hardware keyboard, wtf! what should i do?

Hi,
i'm from France and i'm the proud owner of a X1i since the end of last december. It's my first ever WM phone and i love it.
yesterday it started acting awkwardly, no more rotation to landscape mode when opening hardware keyboard and when i type on the hardware keyboard the text doesn't display.
i don't know how it all started. i was in a train and i was charging the xperia on the train plug while playing to spores origins from EA games.
when i wanted to send a text message i realized that two things i just said (landscape and keyboard problem).
what should i do? i've tried several soft reset but nothing.
i'm using the original R1 firmware.
i was expecting the R3 firmware in the next few weeks to update but now i'm thinking charging the R2 to see if it solves my problem.
If u have any idea, or if anyone had the same problem, feel free to tell...
Thx
hard reset?
hard reset. hold down silver buttons and stick the stylus in the hole under the battery cover.
**** happens thats why when things are good its best to make a backup (i like spb backup).
thx for ur answers.
i did more than hard reset.
i updated to R2 firmware but it hasn't fix anything.
still the same issue with landscape and keyboard issue.
i think it might be a hardware problem. maybe the switch that says to the phone that the keyboard is open or something?
any idea? is the last way to contact customer support?
place the x1 on top of a strong magnet,to reset the switch ,that controls the change.
I had the same problem, one of my keys on the HW keyboard got jammed, so that blocked all other hardware keys except for the power button. maybe the same thing is with your x1. try pressing firmly every key on the keyboard, to see if one of them is jammed...
hope that works
i've tried both the magnet and stuck key tricks but none worked.
just sent an email to customer support (can't reach them on phone today as it's victory day).
dunno what else to try.

victory day? where u from?
well in France may the 8th is a public holiday.
but i think we are going away from the xperia and this thread.
Were you sitting on the 1st wagon? The one that is small and has the engine? I once sat on the wagon that had the engines of the train. It has a huge electromagnet that destroys sensitive devices if you stay near for long time. I also noticed weird behaviour using my Nintendo DS so I moved to another wagon immediatelly and everything went back to normal.
well i was not in the 1st wagon but in the last one, but maybe that's where the problem comes from.
aside that problem the X1 works normally.
only text messaging is a pain the a** because i must use the software keyboard for now.
thx for popping up that idea.

Trackball failure!

My trackball has stopped working when I try to navigate left, tried hard resets etc, looks like hardware problem.
Now I bought this phone from ebay, it is an orange one which was an unwanted upgrade. Do you think I will be able to return it to Orange or go direct to HTC, or will I be screwed!?
Your best bet is probably to ask the original seller to RMA on your behalf.
Regards,
Dave
Will try that, hopefully the seller can do it but get it delivered to my address instead. Might try my luck in the Orange shop first
Mine just gone too. Up, down and right are fine, it just won't do left...
The trackball seems so delicate, I figured this would only be a matter of time.

Warrenty should be with HTC, give their customer support a try, they will probably get you to send the phone to them and have it repaired.

HTC have agreed to a repair but I have got to send it to them so I am going to push the Orange route a bit harder first as I'd rather just have it replaced than having to wait a week or two to get it back especially as I don't have a spare handset!
Mine did the same - push the trackerdown down and left (hard). all is working again!

I can get it to scroll to the left by pushing really hard on it but it doesn't fix it unfortunately!
The trackball is now working again, but does feel a little loose. I just turned the phone on and off to fix a synching issue and suddenly noticed that I could go left...
What's happening!? Is it a software issue or a hardware issue?

I updated my handset to new software release on Friday PM and started noticing the issue saturday morning so I did wonder if it was software but that said I can make it work when I push it really hard so I don't think so...
Holding off on sending it for repair at the moment but guess will have to in the end!
someone on youtube have the same problem

soo is it a hardware problem or software problem ??

I also got the same problem today. It didn't work left, and you can feel that the 'resistance' from the trackball is not the same when scrolling left, so my guess is hardware problem.
BUT, when pressing the trackball hard down and then scrolling left at the same time, it seemed to push something into place again...and it now works fine!! (for now )
Thanks for the tip!
Mine wouldn't work for about 3 weeks, pressing hard didn't help then all of a sudden it was alright again and has been for a month or so!
mine stopped too but i find it funny how when i flashed a new rom (mocado) it now works fine . i am not sure it is a software or hardware fault they are quite delecate so maybe it had some dirt in the ball socket and during the process of flashing it the dirt came out.

Broken HD2

Maybe there is a production fault?
It would be every untypical for HTC to launch a device of which the first builts do not have hardware issues.
Was the same with my TP.
Hardware keyboard, black paint coming off the housing, plastic cover coming off the hardware keys below the screen, ... .
Had to send it in for replacement three times, before I got finally one of the more mature builts, which had (and still has) no problems.
As I want to get the HD2 latest for Christmas, I guess I will still get one of the early builts, and have to go through the return procedure at least once or twice.
Is quite bad that this happens. Products shouldn't have to go through several return procedures because of faults.
They should just get it right first time. How many times do they produce prototypes and test models. It's quite annoying how these things crop up. Can't be hard to catch when manufacturing the phones.
Ok, I really don't have any clue about the differences between sim free and sold by a network, but could this have something to do with why it took/is taking so long for the networks to launch the phone ?
As I understand, they also do their own tests ?
Yeah basically networks like to do tonnes of software tests on the devices to make sure that everything is working properly before they release the phone themselves. Makes sense to do it that way instead of blind releasing a phone, not knowing how long they need to test it for however, is baffling. I don't know how they can't put a date on when it'll be done.

Networks will also bastardise the ROM/firmware to include there own logos, apps, shortcuts etc - they will even remove certain features.
Orange are a nightmare for that...and firmware releases are few and far between...

So, does that mean less chance of ending up with a faulty phone ( I know that they probably only try a few phones in each batch) ?

Well, I guess I'll find out tomorrow.
Yep mine had exactly the same problem. I sent it back and should hopefully have a new one on Monday.
Broken Up button Volume
Has anyone resolved the broken up button issue? I'm hoping that it can be fixed without having to exchange it because I bought mine overseas.
I sent mine back and they are replacing it. I probably could've fixed it myself but when you pay £500 for a new phone you expect it to be working properly.
hi,
today the same happend to me, after one week of use the up button died, for absolutly no reason. i used the buton mayby 10 times thats it.
I bought my HD2 a couple of weeks ago from my local shop and noticed straight away that the photos all had a big pink spot in the middle. The manager said he'd replace it as soon as he had stock back in (been very good).
I got a phone call this week to say replacement HD2 was waiting for me so I collected it yesterday and this one's camera works - yay... except it's volume up button doesn't work
So, time to replace it again whenever the next stock is in and I'm betting the 3rd phone will have a dodgy camera again, lol
