Urgent Hwelp Needed...buttons Wont Respond - Mogul, XV6800 General

I was using my phone today and all was working ok, till about 2:30 when I wanted to place a call, and nothing was working anymore.
Apart from the Circle wheel that works , the Call, End, Both Soft Keys, Ok,Windows, Comm Manager Buttons do not work. All of them just stopped working at once. ALL OF THEM.
I thought maybe it was too hot, I turned off the phone for 20 mins and still no go. I have never dropped my phone, not in water, nothing. Have had it for like 3 months now. Could this be software related? Please my phone is basically useless now, as I use the physical keyboards more than I do the touch screen.
Please Help me out

Desperate here please
please people I desperate here. Anyone ever experienced this? I have read most forums and there seems to be no option but to return the phone and get a new one, but I hav no insurance. I called HTC but they were closed. Please any input. I am lost here

htc wont repair or replace your phone. youll need to call ut starcomm and they will repair it for free. if you get mad enough you can even get them to send it back in a couple days. other than that i dont think their is anything that can be done about it. ive never heard of this happening before

Actually it seems to be a common problem with the Mogul, here is a thread that talks only about it
http://www.htcwiki.com/thread/1179470/Mogul+buttons+stopped+working??t=anon
I was shocked myself that problems like this is out there and am not aware. I would have opted for another brand of phone, maybe Touch. Guess I am one of the unlucky ones. Hope everyone learns from me, coz there seems to be no solution ( yet) . Not even HTC.

Well...
This isn't a hardware problem...
It's definitely software... Somewhere...
Hard resets work (requiring pressing and holding of 2 soft buttons) and bootloader mode works (pressing and holding the camera button...)
While the OS is up (flashed a few roms), none of the buttons (other than power, scroll wheel, and D-pad) work at all.
So... hardware wise, the buttons work.
Anyone want to look further into this?
I just got my mogul off Ebay - it was stuck in bootloader mode...
Ran "ExitBL" and no go on the buttons...
What all does ExitBL do?
Anyone else having button problems run this in the past?

Have you tried flashing stock oem carrier rom to the phone to fill in missing registries?

send it back to the seller and get your money back.

XDA II Coma like state

Right guys and girls, this "coma" stuff is driving me MAD!!!!!!!!!
okie the latest example is last night i put the XDA on charge not in the cradle as usual as i was not at home, but that seems to make no difference, anyhow i turn the screen off by pushing the power button (top left) yellow light turns on and begins to charge, next morning i pick up the device to use it and nothing.....not a sausage, dead as a doe-doe.
Im not able to power it on, im not able to "wake it up" with a call to it, buttons do not work at all, screen is dead, the yellow light stays on even when charger not connected, however it turns of several hours later.
Ok at this point in the past the only way to fix this was to hard-reset it, which is a royal pain in the arse as you all know, and lost all my info i worked on, on that last trip.
Except this time, it really is dead, Hard-reset dont work, removing the main battery and letter the internal one take the hit dont work, verious combos of reset, hard-reset, with and without battery. nothing
nope, this time it seems totally screwed, anyone have any ideas
O2 is going to get an angery phone call, as soon as there tech support peeps goes back to work after the weekend, they said originally it was just a glitch and i was to update my software (rom). Some damn glitch!
Anyhow in a bid to remain slightly more sain than i will be i was hoping that some of you guys have had a problem like this or even better know how to fix it
How you can help
Regards
Darren

well maybe your phone is just broken
being angry at o2 will not help anything they dont make the hardware they dont make the software they just sell the device
Hum, intresting, before i start, O2 is to blame, in the world of retail and more importantly sales contracts, they are my first and direct point of call, in law, when i give them cash and they except it, they are entering in a contract which sticks them in the position to be blamed, however it is not about blame, its about getting somthing done about it, and they are the people who pull the stings, i do understand that they do not make these devices but thats not the point.
16 year old kids may be a bit put out when there phone stops working, however those who need there phone / PDA to work have more issues when things go wrong.
Whats more intresting is that 1 hour ago, the phone unexpectedly turned on by its self, although not surprisingly, all the data was lost. It seems to of woke its self up when the last remaints of power in the internal battery was about to die, to tell me this information.
Whilest i cant conferm this, if the others who have had this problem before
were to leave the phone off the charger for the battery to die, without trying the usual hard reset, i would expect it to wake up to tell you its about to die and then at this point plug the charger back in and hay presto!
well i'm not saying that you cant sue or demand your money back or place the blame on o2 i'm just saying that you cant expect then to solve your problem apart from reporting the issue to thc who again can blame it on microsoft
dazza8082,
What ROM version do you have on your machine?
I had the same problem with my MDA2 which came with ROM version 1.60 or something like that, but I managed to upgrade my MDA2 to 1.72WWE that I found somewhere in this forums and the problem was solved ever since. I even had lots of sudden SD memory wipes, so far so good... It's been like 4 or 5 months since the upgrade and counting...
The upgrade procedure was performed via the cradle and not via the SD card. But if for some reason you can't manage to boot your device you can always try the SD upgrade method.
I really don't remember the procedure but you can find lots of information somewhere in this forums.
Have you tried to get into Boot mode and then reset the device just to see what happens?
Press the Power button, the reset button and the joypad down at the same time and you should see a DOS-like screen indicating you are in boot mode, from there just press the reset button by itself and see if that helps. You will loose all your data with this procedure, but at this point chances are that you already lost everything in the device anyways.
Best of luck!

I don't know why but that's true !!!

My Topaz Touch Panel got "Freezed" for several times a day,
the situation is, it will sudddently freeze at one point,
when every touch on the panel, it comes jump up and down, goes left and right,
I though it is problem with old rom and radio version, so tried to install different kind of version to try to solve but.......... I'm so depress that the problem still here.
Yesterday, I finally found what's the trick to make it back to normal,
it is to open the back cover and push it back !!! Then the touch panel will become ok works.
It is very curious and I don't know why....but that cause me upset and lots of trouble, I'm gonna to throw away my Topaz if the problem still here
Hope someone could help me
You feel free to mail that Topaz to my PO Box if it's such a big problem for you... I'll take it off you hands
Sounds like a hardware issue, I'd contact HTC or your carrier to get it repaired

Maybe there is a production fault?
It would be every untypical for HTC to launch a device of which the first builts do not have hardware issues.
Was the same with my TP.
Hardware keyboard, black paint coming off the housing, plastic cover coming off the hardware keys below the screen, ... .
Had to send it in for replacement three times, before I got finally one of the more mature builts, which had (and still has) no problems.
As I want to get the HD2 latest for Christmas, I guess I will still get one of the early builts, and have to go through the return procedure at least once or twice.
Is quite bad that this happens. Products shouldn't have to go through several return procedures because of faults.
They should just get it right first time. How many times do they produce prototypes and test models. It's quite annoying how these things crop up. Can't be hard to catch when manufacturing the phones.
Ok, I really don't have any clue about the differences between sim free and sold by a network, but could this have something to do with why it took/is taking so long for the networks to launch the phone ?
As I understand, they also do their own tests ?
Yeah basically networks like to do tonnes of software tests on the devices to make sure that everything is working properly before they release the phone themselves. Makes sense to do it that way instead of blind releasing a phone, not knowing how long they need to test it for however, is baffling. I don't know how they can't put a date on when it'll be done.

Networks will also bastardise the ROM/firmware to include there own logos, apps, shortcuts etc - they will even remove certain features.
Orange are a nightmare for that...and firmware releases are few and far between...

So, does that mean less chance of ending up with a faulty phone ( I know that they probably only try a few phones in each batch) ?

Well, I guess I'll find out tomorrow.
Yep mine had exactly the same problem. I sent it back and should hopefully have a new one on Monday.
Broken Up button Volume
Has anyone resolved the broken up button issue? I'm hoping that it can be fixed without having to exchange it because I bought mine overseas.
I sent mine back and they are replacing it. I probably could've fixed it myself but when you pay £500 for a new phone you expect it to be working properly.
hi,
today the same happend to me, after one week of use the up button died, for absolutly no reason. i used the buton mayby 10 times thats it.
I bought my HD2 a couple of weeks ago from my local shop and noticed straight away that the photos all had a big pink spot in the middle. The manager said he'd replace it as soon as he had stock back in (been very good).
I got a phone call this week to say replacement HD2 was waiting for me so I collected it yesterday and this one's camera works - yay... except it's volume up button doesn't work
So, time to replace it again whenever the next stock is in and I'm betting the 3rd phone will have a dodgy camera again, lol

taking it back to the store a good idea when it goes wrong?

(first of all, I didn't knew where else to post this topic to ask this, excuse me if it's posted somewhere wrong)
So I kinda gave up on my magic, R.i.P.
now i was wondering...
that if I take my phone back to the store... and that i shouldn't get a new one immediatly, bcuz they have to send it to htc facotry... how big is the chance they will know I rooted it and it didn't just mallfunction from its own?
or isn't it possible that they just throw in some new rom? They made it so it shouldn't be to hard to get that fixed...
anyone perhaps has experience with sending back his phone or going back to the store?
tell me what happened... did you get a new one, did you had to pay something to get it fixed or just bought a new phone...
all information is welcome either here on the board or by email first_dimension at hotmail dot com <-
thanks ahead guys...
greetings
a desperate dumazz belgian guy who ****ed up his phone badly
What has actually happened to your phone, can you describe the problem please, it may not have to go back to the repair center. Thanks
uhm, while flashing it, it fell down of my desk, battery got disconnected, ...
now i get my "proximus" (wich is my mobile provider) startup screen, wich doesn't go away
cant enter boot menu (by pressing menu + power on)
nor safe mode (home + power on)
cant even connect to my computer to flash a new rom or anything...
so it's completely bricked i been looking on the internet for days now tried every solution...
nada man...
nothing more than my startup screen...
(edit)
the only thing i can still do is like, when i hit the trackball and power on button it lights up a blue led...
but i read every magic does that even if not bricked...
I heard that someone thought they bricked their phone because they couldn't do anything with all the button combinations but when they tried fastboot it worked and unbricked their phone. I mean he didn't go into fastboot, he just plugged his phone in via usb and just tried fastboot.
I'm saying try fastboot. If that doesn't work then I'm sorry but you have to return it to get it fixed but since they can't get into anything I'm sure they won't know that it is bricked.
thanks for the reply m8, but i tried this already...
just sais waiting for device or sumthing...
i think i read that answer on some other board aswell that someone was lucky enuf to have that but not here, not in my case
bummer i guess...
My carrier offers insurance to replace a phone even if it was lost or stolen. If this was an option for you, I guess you would have already thought about reporting it "stolen," but I figured I'd mention it anyway.
Sorry to hear about your phone.
I bricked my mytouch and I just called T-mo customer service and they're sending me a replacement for free since it's still under warranty.

[Q] How to fix touch sensitive buttons?

i picked up this epic with clean esn from someone who upgraded ...
now the reason he wanted to get rid of the phone is that the touch sensitive buttons on the front no longer work
there are no obvious signs of damage to the screen or any were else on it so i figured what the hades.
so now Ive got a toy to see if i can get working.
i was wondering if any one managed to figure out a way to fix such buttons i haven't opened the phone yet as i cant find my precision screwdrivers.
The buttons do react when pressed but the phone dosnt seem to get the message
so once i pick up a new set of screw drivers what should i try first in fixing the buttons?

This sounds more like a software problem than a hardware problem to me. Have you tried doing an ODIN back to stock?
yes once though maybe if i try a 2nd time it will take
edit1
well when i say react i mean that they flash when touched no haptic feed back but since i havent played with an epic before i dont know if it dose do that on the touch buttons
edit 2 well just do another flash with odin and still dont work im thinking about trying a 3rd pary rom to see if that will make a diff worst case ill take it apart

To get haptic feedback go to settings>sound> and at the bottom press vibration intensity. See if that helps.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
Activate it on your account and then after a few days take it into a sprint store and they can order you a referbished one for $35
Sent from my harmonious Bonsai 4.0.1 tree
You got a lemon. When the Epic was first released, there were some units shipped with faulty hardware. Their on-screen buttons would not work reliably. (There were several threads about this at the time.) The remedy was to get Sprint to replace the phone with a new one. That's what I did while I was still within my buyer's remorse period. The new phone's buttons have worked fine.
Do they even light up/respond? If they don't light up, the connector for the buttons might not even be plugged in or damaged, you could take it apart -it doesn't void your warranty.
they respond ie they light up when touched i am tempted to do as quick swap and haul it to the sprint store and fuss at them
well if i went to the corperate store they might let me trade it in on a refurb but dont know if that would work

CWM has a button tester. It will tell you if anything is actually being registered. But other then that Sprint will replace for free if you have TEP.
