2/3 G signal strength - Galaxy Tab 7.7 General

Is it possible to get the mobile signal strength on GT 7.7
I had try lots of ways but can't successful.

What you mean "get"? To get it as a function in your own app's code or just you want to see it?
Turn off WiFi and you'll see strength bars in notification popup (on the place where you usually see WiFi signal bars).

There are plenty of apps like this one that display signal info:

You can also get that in the About page of the device settings. What exactly are you after?

nooooo, use this one instead, this Widget is better

It's all the same data obtained from the phone. A widget tends to suck battery and performance so that's why I recommended a simpler app. Since there are a ton of them, it's really incumbent on the end user to decide what they like.

All of that apps doesn't work on SGS2/Tab7.7 (Exynos-based chipsets).
No, they work (run), but unable to show correct signal level due to a "bug" in modem FW. They always show +85dbm. So the only way to see correct signal strength is the system signal meter in statusbar.

Any way to update the modem driver to fix the Bug ?

Don't think so. Samsung does not care about it - still not fixed even on SGS2, which is already on the market for a long time. Maybe it will be fixed with ICS release, nobody knows.

Remove GPRS Notification Icon

Hello,
I recall coming across a post somewhere on how to remove the notification icon for GPRS that shows signal strength, connection status etc. I need to be able to do this without disabling GPRS. Does anyone know what I'm talking about? Does anyone know how to do this?
This would be for PPC4 and PPC5.
I know a way to customise or to hide it, but it's a bit intensive right now.
I'm working on a tool to make it a bit easier.

I think another way might be to resource hack Phcanoverbmp (at least on the Hermes). But that won't work on all devices.
Why do you need to do this?
V
Why I need to do that.
I have an application that replaces its functionality with proprietary authentication mechanisms, VPN and other stuff related to network access for a VoIP app. A common complaint is that users still use the built in stuff thinking they are connecting to the network when in reality they are not. I don't want the built in stuff to get in the way presenting a network that the user really shouldn't be connecting to.
If you're app replaces it's functionality, why not just make your own window/icon, and map it into the titlebar yourself, thereby negating the OS G icon completely?
V
Can't hack
I have my own notification icon. Hacking into the titlebar by adding a child window etc. isn't an option. We tried and it caused problems with other applications on the device. No amount of begging will change that requirement.
I know there's a way to just remove it without covering it. I remember the post and I remember trying it a while back but I can't find the post and don't remember how it was done.

[Q] Best Internal Antenna Configuration?

I'm running HTC HD2 with the latest radio
In my house I seem to get bad reception.
My HD2 often shows flaky reception often jumping between no signal and 2 bars when I leave it next to the window. I've tried many different radio versions but non seem great.
It's annoying when I get a message from people saying "I couldn't get through to you!".
I get pretty much the same thing with my HTC Touch Pro 2!
Anyway I found an old Nokia 5210 and I put my sim card in it. I noticed that my signal is far more steady. It hangs around 2-3 bars and never shows no signal.
I can actually now keep my phone next to my computer rather than next to the window.

My question is what are your experiences with different phones & reception?
It's a subject that isn't very well covered anywhere on the internet and I solidly believe that various phone models/brands will give better signal than others.
Many of you don't worry much about signal because your area has good coverage. But there are people like myself who live and work in not so well covered places that often struggle with reception.
My HTC HD2 has the exact same problem considering the signal strength. I have a spare Sony Ericsson W910 where I get far more better signal strength when listening to radio.
BTW my radio version is 2.15.50.14.....I have no idea why this is happening....
Thanks.

[Q] gps refresh rate with CyanogenMod

i have just taken the plunge into cyanogen because of the OTA updates and with 7.0.3.1 they have fixed the GPS. this is a hugely important feature for me as I use gps to track my training logs on SportyPal. The gps works, but not great, and not as quickly as it did in sense and this affects the accuracy of recorded speed and distance.
I am wondering if there is a way to change the polling rate somewhere in the settings of cyanogen?
the examples i can offer are
sense polling - about 3-5secs apart

cyanogen polling - about 30sec to 1 min apart
these were taken only one day apart and the only difference is cyanogen.
thanks for any help!
You could try a different gps driver like this one and see if it polls more often? As far as I know, there is no way to currently configure the polling time.

THIS!!! man this worked great, thanks so much! i'm now completely sold on cyanogen!
Yeah I sent a PM to the guy suggesting he try to merge these drivers into cyanogen.

Battery Draining Issues

I've had the g4 for about a week now and have noticed that my battery is draining by 30-40% over night. I've reset my phone yet the issue still seems to remain. Going into the battery menu under settings, it shows that the majority is being taken up by mobile standby.
Here are a few snaps from the settings/battery.

Some of that data drain could be coming from a weak signal. On poor reception, the device spends a lot of power to find a better/stronger signal and if you're in marginal areas a lot, then it's going to use more battery. There are apps that will automatically switch the phone to airplane mode and apps that will switch the signal off and on depending on signal strength. There was one I use some time ago that I'm not sure if it even exists any longer is ShutUpBatterySaver. It would switch data on and off depending on what you set it for. Another two were Autopilot4 and NoBars. You could also just turn your data off when you know you won't need it.
Try uninstalling Google Photos. I noticed a very high CPU utilization. Not visible in battery uses (why anyway?)
Even used in "local" without synchronization.
Instead, enable the embedded file manager (in the list of disabled application, it's pre-installed), and update it in Play Store.
It looks like ur signal is weak too. Try to switch to 3G and your signal should be a little stronger

Hello everyone! I have the same issue with my moto g4 (xt1622).
Signal seems always bad even when the phone displays 4g in full strength! If you look at the screenshot seems that the signal became bad only when screen is off! Is that an hardware problem or an Android bug?
Thanks

As I can see there is a weak signal strength, that maybe the problem. Try going around a strong signal strength area and check if it stays, Or you can also try changing the carrier provider which have a good signal strength in your area. (Only a guess)
tnks for you replay, but the weak singal in no problem because this also happens with a strong signal(check by mobile telephone). Maybe with some upgrade I can do something, but I'm afraid because all the other functions work normally
