No, no flashed rom just stock

You need to do full wipe battery!! Bit to do this you need CWM!

Hi HDmadman. I am also new to the Gnote, bought mine 2 weeks ago. It seems to be a German version, as the original ROM came with some German applications.
After 3 days of use, my GNote started going crazy with sort of similar behavior as yours (charging without charging) and others that were even worst, like turning on by itself, opening applications by itself, etc.
It was on KKA rom and decided to go to stock KL7 to try to fix the problem, after the factory reset did not worked (as with you). After this ROM update, which I made almost 1 week ago, the phone is behaving well, with no "ghosts". (however I am still scared about what I saw on it that time and am still checking it very closely every time trying to find some strange behaviour like those).
What ROM version are u using ? Possibly a ROM update can help you as it seems to worked for me.
Cheers
Cabtouch

Charging without plugged also happened to me.. i was partying outside(new year) and there was a lot of fog an humidity. it was constantly vibrating (mute) saying it was charging/off charging loop, and when i touched the screen it would start vibrating non stop. scared the hell out of me!! that night taking the battery of for a couple minutes fixed it. The next day plugging in the usb cable on the pc it would charge but windows wasn't detecting the mobile (no usb sound when connecting original samsung cable). i cleaned the connectors of the phone with a dry toothbrush and imediattly got fixed. Has never happened to me again. But got me pretty scared though.. hoping it won't happen again!

No charge, no sync - loose MHL cable port.

Only had mine 3 weeks and its broken already. I have been using a desktop charger and have not been forcing it in at all, not once, I have always been very gentle inserting it it, anyway it no longer charges, it looks like the connectors have pushed themselves back so they are not flush anymore and thus no longer connecting to charge or sync.
Not happy about this at all, I had my desktop charger for my HD2 for 18 months with no problems at all, this suggest a very weak connector.
!!! BE CAREFUL !!!
Going to call in at Phones4you and see if they will swap it, I don't hold out much hope though.
Wow bad luck man, but really you don't need the F word to express your frustration.

was it an official desktop charger or 3rd party?
DO a factory reset using code *2767*3855#
(please not this will wipe everything including built in memory, so do backup before you proceed. Backup possible by moving content of internal memory to SD card by copy paste in file manager)
I had a problem when my phone stopped charging after I upgraded firmware, It would also launch Connected to computer screen when it wasnt . Thought its dead.
Did factory reset using this code and its working flawlessly ever since. Seems to be some kind of bug which happens out of nowhere as 2 people I know have experienced this after upgrading to KE2.

I was going to ask exactly the same thing...
I think the OP means that the micro usb receptacle has come away from the board and has been pushed back into the body of the phone. I hope this is not going to turn out to be a common problem as it's something that seemed plague to the Nokia N900 and it took ages for Nokia to acknowledge a design/production fault.
great advice, now it wont boot at all, just goes round in circles....
F**cked.....
anyone got any ideas?
Hi, the charger isnt really the issue, i haven't had any problems inserting the phone into the charger, ie no resistance which suggests to me it was week or loose and has gradually pushed it self back over the last 2 weeks since I have had the charger. If thats the case it would have done this with any charger or cable.
Just spoke to phones4you, they are going to exchange it for me, they didnt even grumble after I told them what happened which I thought was odd, heading off now to pick it up.
Will be interesting to see if your wifi is any better on the new phone stoolzo. Maybe you could let us know. Thanks.

remove and reinsert battery
i had this issue when running custom kernels. somehow doesnt happen with stock.
issue happens like this:
u go to bed while charging
u wake up and the phoneis off or very hot with battery and temperature warning
u reboot and it doesnt reboot, doesn't boot, just goes in circle battery display/reboot cause it doesnt seem to charge neither have enough power to boot.
removing battery + cable then putting both back = it boots again and charge normally

Yeah, did all the usual things, I have bricked phones before and always managed to turn them around but we have no CMR to flash anything from ROOT/SD so when it wouldn't boot after a factory reset I knew I was in trouble
The MHL port being loose was the tell tale sign of a fault as I hadn't misused it at all. When I compared it to my new phone I got today it was defo a little further back, just enough to prevent it connecting.
Good old phones4you, fault report to phone exchange in under an hour, impressive.
Just in case the charger had anything to do with this I am going to get rid, dont think it did but I don't want to risk it.

[Q] Note 3's note charging/connecting to a PC

Hi,
My brother has a Galaxy Note 3 (the LTE version. N9005) which has been brilliant up until just now, where it can't charge nor connect to a PC.
He's tried using both the microUSB 3.0 cable that came with it - both connecting to a computer and to charge - as well as a microUSB 2.0 cable to charge... Neither has worked.
He's on stock, no rooting whatsoever (not that kind of person).
Is this a hardware problem or is there anything that could solve this before we send it off to warranty?
Any answers are greatly appreciated...
UPDATE: Its suddenly charging again... But we'll see what happens... In the meantime, can anyone offer an explanation?
Sent from my GT-P7510 using Tapatalk HD
I have the same problem with the phone not being recognised by the computer or charger. Strange thing is that the computer recognises the phone in download mode via odin (an kies for a while). And it has been charging while in download mode connected to kies or odin.
I initially thought it was a bad third party rom i had downloaded and tried to change to another rom. It was back to charging for a bit and then after a day stopped again. Tried to reset to factory rom and bricked the phone in the process (as stupidly checked reactivation lock and clicked a wrong button when titanium backup asked if I wanted to restore the previous id - spent 2 days to unbrick it.....
But now I'm back to the phone not being able to charge or being recognised by the computer. Even the OTG cable isn't recognised. HELP pleaseeee someone. First issue with a Galaxy since the S3/S4/Note1/Note2.
Any thoughts as to what the issue could be? Someone mentioned that it could be a setting in phoneutils menu (if USB set to modem it wont recognise - has to be set to PDA). But the *#7284# command doesnt seem to work on the Note 3. Does anyone know how to invoke the phone utility menu?
I might have to take it back to Samsung - only that I have rooted it and knox shows it!!
Update :
I sent the device into the service centre this morning and explained the problem. The guy at the counter didn't bat an eye while telling me its likely a usb port problem and that he would try to check it and get it turned around within a day. When I asked him if others had similar problems, his response seemed to indicate that it wasn't an uncommon problem. They even had plenty of spares for the port.
I got a text within 2 hours telling me that the unit was fixed. They didn't give me any hassle about the unit being rooted but I guess with a hardware issue, it shouldn't have mattered anyway.
So far so good with the unit. Just thought I'd update you guys.

Sorry to revive an old thread, but is it just a hardware problem then?
The phone suddenly started charging again shortly after your reply, so we didn't have this problem for months.
The phone got repaired after quite a bad incident, and now its not charging or connecting to a PC again.
There's a Samsung service centre down the road from where I am so we're planing on going tomorrow. Just wanted to see whether it was hardware or software related...

This maybe aswell related to cache, you could go into the st9ock recovery and wipe cache (no need to factory reset) Ive used this method to solve connecting issues with note 3 to computers.

Hoping it'll work indeed... since we're overseas we can't exactly claim warranty either, though I'm not sure it'd even pass for warranty anyway

[Q] Phone won't Turn on?

I am running SACs23 4.3V4.2 rom. I have been having now issues. I plugged my phone in to charge for a couple of hours. Came back and the notification light was blinking for sms. I unplugged the phone and pushed the power button. The screen would not turn on. The notification light died out and now nothing. I have tried booting into recovery, hard reset, and pulling the battery. When I plug the phone back in with or without a battery there is no charging indication. The phone is lifeless. Not sure what to do, I have never seen this. When I plug it into the computer, nothing happens. I can not get into recovery or download mode...the phone does nothing. Any suggestions or ideas?:crying:
The micro USB charging port appears to be not working. You can buy it on Ebay for $10 and replace it yourself. Fairly straightforward.
stupid question but I have to ask, have you tried a different usb cable?

Yes. Charging port works fine. 2hrs later, I put the battery back in and it booted. Used my phone for the next 24hrs and then put it on charger. Woke up this morning and same thing. Very odd!
This happens to me when ever I don't use the original charger
Can you get into your recovery? Sacs, has an update to v4.3 in his op that's working very well if you can download it on PC and transfer to your sd card. Dirty flash it and see what happens. My guess is, you are having the same boot lag issues as most others were having and there is a zip file you can flash in Sac's OP for that also for v4.2.
If you can get into your recovery, dirty flash his update.
Your phone, charger port and wire are fine. It's the lag everyone was getting to get the screen to come up.
Sac's is doing one more update so it may be a few minutes before the link is up, but here is the direct link for you..
http://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23212708291682600
Until the update is reuploaded, for the heck of it, dirty flash v4.2 and DO NOT select any of the lockscreen effects like lightening or blue orb. The lag has been narrowed down to possibly being that problem.
Lag issue flash file to be flashed in recovery

Try pulling the battery and leaving out for say ten minutes or so
Some clarification:
1. I 've pulled the battery and waited from 10min to 3hours. No change.
2. Plugging into computer and the phone nor computer responds to eachother.
3. I am using the original Sammy charger.
4. This is the 2nd time this has happened but after 24hrs of being off it still will not respond to anything.
5. I took it to Sprint today and they ordered me a replacement phone. They had 3 of their best techs troubleshooting for 2hrs and couldn't find anything wrong with the phone, except for that it doesn't do anything.:crying:
6. I am hoping my new phone doesn't suffer the same fate. I can honestly say this is my 3rd Sammy phone and the 1st time I've had to take it back for anything and I am always flashing new roms from trusted devs.
This one has me puzzeled! Oh, this happened after I updated to MJA software and firmware but no KNOX! So, maybe I am having an issue with the new MJA....sounds like a lot of phones (various carriers) are. I'll update if I learn anything new.

Sprint just issued an update today that is suppose to fix this issue. If you can get back to stock take the OTA and see if it helps. You have the sleep of death issue and the mk2 OTA mentions sleep issues as the main fix. Hopefully this is what they are fixing.

Random Power Off & Boot Loop Galaxy S4 GT-I9505

Hi,
Not sure what is happening to my phone. I have had stock 4.2.2 rooted with CF auto root for months and had no problems. A few weeks ago my phone started to randomly shut down, not properly just complete power off in an instant. It would then start to reboot and get to the Samsung S4 logo screen before powering off again and trying to reboot and then gets stuck in a constant loop. At first I was able to just reinstall CF root with Odin and it would start up OK. I could also get it to start by re-installing Philz recovery.
Now though, that doesn't work so this morning I installed JB 4.3 I9505XXUEMK8-PRE-ROOTED-KNOX-FREE-ODEX-FULL.tar.MD5 and it says that it is rooted and everything seems to be OK but after an hour or so it has started to randomly shut down again. If I attempt to go into recovery (stock) and clear the cache partition it will reboot normally and run for a while until I use an app and do it again. Am I doing something wrong here or is my phone just knackered?
Phooka
Maybe is coz the RAM is overloaded. Take a look in:
- Press HOME button for 2 secs
- U will see 3 icons in the bottom. Click on the "cheese"
- Tab "RAM"
- If ur phone use more of 1 GB of RAM for run ur apps maybe will be time of delete bloatware
I had the same problem in GT-I9500, I had to get it repaired in a service center.
There was a problem with mother board to charger port connection..
Hope it helps you!

If u wanna try to recover some RAM u can delete some bloatware that u dont use. Tc with what u delete. I let u some info about if u wanna try -> HERE
I have this problem, I swear it is because of the dodgy battery. (I have the BD battery)
When I plug it in to charge all works again properly.
Last night my battery was showing in the high 60's the phone went off. When I put charger in the battery was at 3%!
Very annoying, going to take to Geek Squad tonight and see if they wil lreplace battery. Guy here at work has same phone, different battery derial number and no problems at all.
Hopefully they will change the battery, I don't have any paperwork with me but the phone is obviously within the 1 year warrenty.

Interesting. I have noticed a couple of times when I look at the battery stats that it has drained from say 90% to 3% in less than 1min, just a verticle line. When I plug it in to charge it says that it's at 90% or whatever it was. Other times it needs charging and is almost dead. It's as though it has shorted out. I wonder if that is the problem here.

Same Issue
I have the same problem with my I9505
- It shuts down randomly (sometimes you see a few seconds in advance that your connection to the mobile antennas disconnects), when you look at it, in the middle of a phonecall, ... whenever it's nog plugged in to the power of external battery
- It's almost impossible to get it powered on again (gets stuck in a loop of rebooting: most times at the Samsung logo or after it's on for a few seconds), unless you connect your charger that is connected to the powergrid or external battery
- sometimes it resets the phonelanguage to default (so in stead of for example Dutch, everything is in English again)
I just cleared the cache and removed some programs...
Fingers crossed
--> I'll give an update if anything changes

I've tried that as well. Didn't work. The problem you describe is exactly the problem I have. I have ordered another battery but I don't think it's that. I'll let you know if it is. I hadn't noticed that it always boots OK if it is plugged into the mains. Wish I knew what was causing the problems.
Random Shutdown and boot loop
So I think I am finally getting somewhere. I took this screenshot straight after it shut down and got stuck in a boot loop. So I plugged it into the mains and it started OK. The battery just gives up when i stress the device with a hungry app or when booting which causes a heavy drain on the on the power even when its got a healthy charge. Got a new battery on order. Take a look at the screenshot. You can see the battery instantaneously drops to zero charge until it's re-booted on the mains.

in the list I forgot to mention that the known wifi's are also wiped. --> you have to connect to them again...
I too am having this exact problem; I'm glad to hear it is not only me, not that it helps any of us.
I posted in another thread, but the symptoms everyone here are describing are exactly what I am seeing:
- Sudden battery drop from anything (it's happened to me before about 5 minutes after unplugging from the wall socket) to zero; then phone goes into a loop unless I plug it back into the mains socket
- When plugging into the mains socket with this issue, sometimes the battery is empty and sometimes it shoots straight back up to where it was
- Plants Vs Zombies 2 is the sure-fire way for me to reproduce this issue
- examined logs (although not sure if the right one) using CatLog; nothing obvious (in fact the last line on one of the logs is litterally cut halfway through)
- Wifi connection details lost occasionally
I have reflashed about 4 other (4.3) ROMs (and I tried a 4.4 GE one too) and they all seem to do the same; I am wondering if it is something to do with the non-Knox modems required to flash the 4.3 ROMs as I don't think I had this problem before updating to 4.3. I don't have the time or patience to revert back to a 4.2 ROM to test this though.
I can go for a couple of days without this happening, but fire up PvZ2 and here we go again.
I too have a new battery on order (allegedly genuine from a well-known auction site), so I will update this thread when that arrives to see if it makes any difference.
I don't like this post for one reason.... it means that the problem I am facing won't solve with a format and a new fresh flash... :crying:
I was spending some time on XDA searching for a good stable firmware to flash because I am having your exactly same issues on my phone... I just tought my phone got a bit messy because I have 130 apps installed and a lot of stuff on it.. so I was just thinking of solving all my problems with a new rom... but then I found this 3d...
So you are telling me that my problem won't get solved so easely? How am I going to deal with a Phone that randomly shuts up??? I need my phone and over the last week it got always worse.. first it shut up at about 5pm.. (at ca 15% charge) then at 3pm and 50% charge... today it shut up at 11am and 80% charge... soon I won't be able to use my phone at all!!
I'm happy I backed up all my data today, but it still doesn't solve my problem since I really need my phone... :crying:
This evening I'm going to flash anyway... let's see what happens..
PS I own a GT-I9505 with 4.2.2 stock rom (root)

Sorry to hear there's a few more out there with the same problem that I am having. AhHm... Sorry, WAS having. I tried re-flashing all sorts of ROMS from 4.2.2 to Echoe KitKat 4.4, flashed CF Root, reinstalled philz touch recovery god knows how many times all to no avail. I now know that it is nothing to do with your ROM or phone setup. It's Samsungs crappy battery. As soon as I put in my new battery problems solved. I have been running multi-window apps whilst having FB on in the background and watching a film all at the same time. If this was gonna crash it would have done by now.
Problem solved. Don't buy the cheap SPB £9.99 one on ebay it has lots of bad reviews. I got this one with no problems:

I'm glad you solved.. this means there could be a solution to my problem... in any case the fact that alla batteries here seem to fail in the same week is really strange!!
And the thing I hate most is that a 500€ phone shouldn't be dying after just some months!
After having spent some time googling around.. I found a solution... well, not exactly a solution... let's say I found the core of the problem...
I found some very interesting posts on the misfuncion on all Samsung S4 Batteries Made and Produced in China with SN starting with BD....
And guess what? my battery corresponds!!
If you look at the battery you will notice that it is a little "bumped" and not perfectly flat...
Here in Italy many users went to samsung customer service and got the battery replaced!
Tomorrow I will check to see if I can get a new battery... for now I'm happy to know exactly what to do in order to get my phone working again!

Yeah I found that out tonight also. I called samsung earlier today and they said if it is less than 2 years old they will repair it and I should send it to them. I have flashed so many ROMS since I purchased it last year and one or two with Knox which as we know registers that it has had a custom download which voids the warrantee so I thought it would be a waste of time sending it to them. Also I need my phone for work so it was easier to purchase a new battery.

Hi,
Do you have a link to the info? was it on an official samsung site?

N910F - strange issues with charging

Hello everybody,
- On monday i ran into a strange problem with my N910F. At first it was just not charging whatsoever.
- after the phone ran out of power, i attempted to charge it which gave me a brick with a black screen, vibrating short every two seconds
- Fine by me i thought, went and got a replacement battery (after checking simple stuff like the physical state of the battery (normal) and killing the batterystats (which i heard both yay and nay about so i decided to give it a try).
- Replacement battery charged overnight on the USB Port of my computer (2.0, for the completionists) went smooth (didn't turn it on, just had this bubble animation of charging).
- Turned it on this morning (booting apparently took 3% off my battery) and all well so far.
- finally in my chair at work i plugged it into my power cable (genuine Samsung FastCharging adapter that came with the phone itself) and nothing happened
- tried another adapter (some cheapo 1A adapter) which started charging around 10secs after connecting but decided to stop charging after a couple of minutes
- some shaking and gentle knocking brought back the charging symbol for some seconds, seemed like some loose contact or a broken cable so i felt fancy and plugged the very same cable (the one originally shipped with the phone) to my laptop. started charging instantly and no shaking or knocking stopped this (so no loose contact or broken cable at all)
This is the story until now, put together as complete and organized as possible. For now i'm stuck to charge my phone on the laptop or computer which seems to work. In this progress above i tested around 7 chargers, 3 laptops, 2 computers, 10 cables and 3 screens with both batteries, although the workaround i have now is only tested with the genuine cable as i was just done with testing for the night.
Now for my questions (apart from a touch with the magical fix-everything tool):
- What i see as possible causes based on my very shallow knowledge are either the microUSB port on the phone or the power distribution unit. Anyone has an idea what to check?
- As i have no idea how deep the OS goes, could it be a software issue by any chance?
Even though the device is only ~9 months old, I don't like the idea of going through Samsung for this one as i tripped KNOX already.
Hope there's still hope for me
Cheers,
Fachtal
sooooooo, does nobody have an idea lying around somewhere?

You seemed to have tried using the cheap charger which allowed you to charge after shaking it a bit, have you tried purchasing a new genuine charger?

Tripping Knox does not necessarily mean that you've lost warranty.

I tried around 7 adapters (from cheap ones to genuine galaxy S3, Note2, and Note4), around 10 different cables (again, from cheap ones to genuine samsung cables), 3 Laptops (again with all cables), 2 computers (all cables) abd one of those mobile charging battery things.
The only thing that works is either the genuine cable on my computer or the same cables on my screen at work.
@geevh that's news to me. As far as i heard is tripping know equal to losing warranty.

Have you tried to flash stock firmware, in case it's the kernel?
KNOX warranty shouldn't void your warrant in the EU as I have gotten two knox tripped devices repaired from Samsung before.

I just flashed the official ROM using Odin. Had some problems getting the phone connected while in DL mode (didn't work at all while in normal android mode).
This seemed to be a dirty flash (already was on stock Rom, just put CWM on, rooted the phone and replaced the kernel to have SELinux permissive for Viper4Droid) as it didn't go through the setup process and was like before.
Anyway, charging still doesn't work. Is there anything else I can test? I'm nearly at the point where I migrate back to my old SGS3 and have the N910F sent to the carrier (well, in the end it will go to Samsung) to get it fixed.
Thanks about the whole Knox false knowledge.
Cheers, Fachtal

I would just give the device in for repairs but make sure to flash a full stock rom and factory reset before giving the phone, since you have already tried everything else.
Good luck

Well, flashing stock ROM seems to be slightly less relaxing than I thought. It feels like I have to connect the phone to the pc, put it on the table in a very specific position/way and then hope that it doesn't disconnect halfway through flashing...
This has become quite an adventure so far and I hope I'll get this done so i can get rid of this very expensive paperweight
Thanks for all the help so far, I guess I'll add the explanation from my carrier/Samsung as soon as I (hopefully) get my device back.

PMIC or Charging IC is probably broken on the mainboard, i hear more N4's have this problem.
Best is to send it for warranty or let the components be replaced by a "good" repair shop.
Most service centers don't check knox status so i would go for that, if all fails take it for repairs if the costs are not too high.
Hi guys, back for a rather unexpected "solution"
When i finally freed up some time to actually get to the carrier shop to get my phone fixed, I was in for a rather embarrasing experience.
The lady in the shop pulled a charging cable and an adapter out of a box, plugged my phone in and it suddenly charged as if nothing ever happened. Now, some time later, it still works perfectly fine, as if there never were problems...
I have absolutely no idea on what happened. Before going to the shop i obviously flashed the stock rom yet again (with the usual wipe user data/cache/dalvik procedure).
Now, on what i had when the problems started: stock BOC5 ROM, touch CWM, rooted and with a custom kernel for SEAndroid permissive (emotion something i believe the kernel was called). Now during my rather extensive troubleshooting I actually flashed the stock ROM at least once and the issue persisted, which is why i just stood there, staring on my charging phone, my jaw somewhere on its way to the ground, unable to form any proper words :silly:
So basically, does someone have a possible explanation to clear this up? If not, I'll consider this thread solved i guess^^
In the meantime, I downgraded to Stock 4.4.4 with CWM, root and xposed (which i really missed on Lolli) and I'd say I'm happy with this :victory:

It's sound strange but a couple of years ago i read somewhere, forgotten where and about the specific device. The thing was that phone wasn't charging eather ,and now it comes.....the solution was turnig around the charger in te power socket.

this indeed sounds strange. And honestly, i didn't pay attention on the orientation of the power adapter (although my stock samsung one is always in the same orientation because the cable goes out on the side (which means it worked in the same direction as it didn't before).
The only even remotely considerable approach would be that the custom kernel along with this synapse app somehow screwed with the power intake and i forgot to wipe everything when i first flashed stock over it, meaning that synapse still had its fingers in the system screwing around with that.
But then again, as I seem to be the only one with this problem and this custom kernel had more than just a few users I don't think this is the way it went (I don't even use an unusual collection of root Apps which could cause some sort of malfunctioning combination of effects).
I had a few evenings just thinking about this and draw some simple mindmaps/schematics to make some sort of a sense...
