The official flip cover for the Note is absolutely impractical & useless.

you want it for something it really isn't; it's a simple flip cover for the phone. nothing more.

Got a free one as well. It has been on my note since the first day. Makes it easier to throw in the bag or pocket without worrying about the screen. A friend that owns a GS2 loved the fit and function of it, and if Samsung was making one he would be getting it in a heartbeat.

You're right. I'm using one too and I like it. Sure, it is not a real "protection" against throwing your note out of the fifth floor, but it's a nice addtion to protect your screen in your pocket.
In addition it also comes with a new back-cover with a much better protection for your camera!

you are wrong brother. ive a white note and a white flip case, i feel (& my friends feel)
1.it looks neat and good
2.it protects the screen.
3. MOST IMPORTANTLY, it has a slight bump on camera lens side and this protects your lens from scratches, mind you-this is not there for default back cover.!!!!

Has any one of you really received the free flip cover?
I asked for it more than one weak ago and I haven't got it yet. I am in Germany.

Same for me. Not in sight yet.

Guten Tag Herr Al Noury,

That would be great
and how much does the shipping cost ??
Lets Say to Saudi Arabia

In Turkey they give it when you buy. I used it but it is impractical. Let's say your phone rings. What will you do:
1. Grab with right hand and open the cover with other hand.
2. In order to fold cover on back, give phone to your other hand which opened the cover.
3. Touch screen to answer call.
4. If you are right handed like me, then put phone to your right hand again.
5. Bring your phone to your ear and talk.
Too long time to start talking.

htc confirmed update to froyo in the next 2 weeks

hi everybody
i just found something interesting on german zdnet
they say that htc confirmed to zdnet there will be an update to froyo in the next 2 weeks ..and the post is from today
sorry, new users are not allowed to post a link
mfg, ugrubni
i thought it was google saying that today and it was nexus one only?
:Edit: looked the article up looks promising but i will only believe it once i happens :
HTC has confirmed to ZDNet, that two smartphones Desire and a Legend Android OS update from version 2.1 to 2.2, code name Froyo to get the update to the devices via the radio interface, so by FOTA (Firmware Over-the-air) are provided. A precise time called the company did not: The roll-out will take place in the next two weeks.

German znet article translates in google translate:
http://bit.ly/9HdPte
That's great news I'll send HTC a mail asking if they can confirm this. I'll let you know. I'm really hoping its true. I was kinda mad to myself that I didn't buy the desire cause that would have the upgrade but if the Legend is getting it too, then its all good xD
-------------------------------------
Sent from my HTC Legend using the XDA Tapatalk App
I just read this myself, and I cannot wait!
I'll be picking up my legend very soon now that I know its getting a little taste of froyo
This seems to make a lot of sense. An article I read made the good point that the Legend and Desire getting it soon after or even at the same time as the N1 makes senders because they are more widely available.

hi,
just got something back from zdnet support.
"Hallo xxxxx,
well, it means that he got the info from htcs pr agency.

Ok, but that's just the same source twice, I would love to hear it from HTC, but they haven't answered my mail yet.
Hey all...
I got my wife a Legend and am learning Android and then teaching her afterward.
How will this update appear on the phone? Meaning, will it be a notification at the top or is there somewhere in the settings that I will need to go to pull the update down?
Thanks in advance!
Jason.
this is good news
if its over the air, then youd get a notification, a pop up usually. I advice not to hold your breadth waiting for it though, as it took almost 6 months from promised time for HERO users to get 2.1, and not everyone has it yet. That, plus, this is not necessarily legit.
wow, this is quit good news ..!!
but will this be avable all over the world, or just some contries ?
I am living in Faroe Islands and i would like to know if it will be an update for me ..!
Thanks for this great news
i HOPE this is true.
I upgraded to a Legend and gave hero to girlfriend since I didn't have faith at the time that the Hero 2.1 update would come out before I went back home stateside.
All I'm thinking at this point is "hope for the best prepare for the worst"
just wondering why this hasn't been reporting on any other news site, or has it?
It's just a rumour..but i hope really hope that legend can get some froyo love

Well cause if i'm correct here,HTC self didn't make an official statement..or did they? hmm
there is so much confusion & speculation over this froyo update .
i thought a while back HTC STATED "that all Android mobiles released in 2010 would get froyo " its just a matter of when we, legend owners will get it .
froyo is coming ,im staying positive .

Thats not much, but im with u in holding out hope that we see it this month. These annoying little tweets they send really suck. I read something on the sprint forums from an employee that Sunday is normal, but Fri/Sat is not unheard of as a push back date if it is a major release.
Found the quote-

SprintEmployee

Sprint usually launches phones on Sunday, big name launches happen on Friday or Saturday occasionally. This is because the entire week leading up to the launch, the phones can be shipped to the store to ensure there is adequate supply (or as many as they can in some cases).
community.sprint.com/baw/message/200591#200616
But, Sprint employees seem horribly confused about phone releases...

Gingerbread

Hi,
just wanted to tell you that I got an e-mail from samsung customer service germany that says gingerbread (probably 2.3.3) will be released for galaxy 3 within the second quarter this year, which would mean that it should come this month.
Can anyone confirm this or did the service worker just mix this up with gingerbread for galaxy S?

I'd love to see gingerbread on my G3
This month they declared that samsung galaxy s and other few devices will be getting ginger bread 2.3.3 . Don't even expect gingerbread on our phone unless for custom phones. Samsung made us buy this phone with the promise to deliver froyo, now it has delivered , it will never look back for it . you can see spica for example ... Which has 800mhz processor still, they haven't given them froyo. Samsung are cunning bastards! They want you to nut new phones.

only because it's no more on sale doesn't mean that there's no more support for it. samsung signed a contract in which they assure that they update their devices (as long as the hardware is capable of it) for 18 months, and it seems that this is not only for the new state of the art phones but as well as the galaxy 3. send an e-mail to samsung customer service in your country. then you get facts. only because everyone says that it's not likely G3 will get gingerbread because it's such a low-budget device doesn't mean samsung isn't working on it.

It's highly unlikely that the will release it at the end of june, if they realease it at all that is... It's probably a mixup with SGS. BTW guys if you did't notice, IT'S SAMSUNG for f**k sake! They dont care about low end phones like our G3 unfortunately

then why should they tell us that the update is coming this month?
we got independent statements from samsung germany and poland that they will release an update.
the update for SGS is already out (at least in germany, don't know if it was released everywhere). this makes makes a mixup quite unlikely.
sry, but I put more trust in what samsung customer service tells me than in speculations of users. I know that G3 is a low-end device. but if they say they release an update then why shouldn't they?
I mean they have no reason to lie, they could just say as the G3 is EOL they won't release any more updates and everyone would accept it.

Anyway, I believe he's talking about that hole that samsung made on top left side for lanyards and such. Aren't you supposed to pass the string through the hole once, make a loop, then pass the whole string through that loop and then its tied good?

HTC One Sweden users thread

Hey guys , I thought it would be nice if there was a thread for us Swedes. I'll give you a heads up and let you know I'm coming to this device, hopefully in about a month or so, so you know whom to hide from. I'm a flashaholic/professional whinger/indecisive rom slut but I'll try to keep the One unrooted/stock for at least a while. Or not. Never know how things play out.
Great.

You're Swedish enough ^^
This phone's gonna kick ass!
There have been a few users who don't recommend HTC at all. Fault prone yada yada poor service. How true is that today?

Would you be so inclined to tell the users @Gustopher @DeadSOL amongst others exactly how good it is? They're not exactly pro-HTC

Too bad for them, one cannot force good taste upon others.
You just have to read the reviews......

Hopefully mine will arrive tomorrow or Monday. Ordered a black one. It's nice to think i'll be one of the first owners in Sweden.
@Theshawty

Hmm. Makes for some thinking after reading all those posts DeadSOL linked.

This is the exact same problem that a lot of HTC devices face (I've seen it in person with the One X). Sometimes, the brightness isn't right with the display. Sometimes, there's a yellow tint. Sometimes, you can see backlight bleeding.
Now, people may be lucky enough to get a unit free of defects but it doesn't erase the fact that these problems exist with HTC devices. This is only the hardware part of the issue! Once you start using Sense UI, the entire Android experience is ruined!
I'm just looking out for you, Shawty! I don't want you to make the wrong choice and then not have enough money to replace it if you end up not liking it!
F*** it, I'm still getting it. I'm sure most if not all issues are first batch problems like all phones have.
Hey guys.. im from the uk but im moving to sweden in a month or so.. what network providers are the best ? Any lte networks with unlimited data ?

Telia has the best coverage, but if you plan to stay in a big town then perhaps Three.

Fortune favours the brave.
The only problem I have is a remarkably small gap and the occasional speaker pops, barely audible but still the. Would I buy it still knowing this.....hell yes. Best phone ever. Techradar's review sums it up nicely.

Linköping is covered by 4G by both Telia and Three, if you want to go visiting around other parts of Sweden some less well inhabited but still nevertheless picturesque parts I suggest Telia otherwise Three.
Linköping is the 7th biggest town in Swedn with around 150 000 people. Its not too far from Stockholm.
I am originally from Huddersfield. Ayee lad!
Mourinho can move over... there is a new Special One.
I got a lovely, blinky, blanky, spinky, spanky new One from Telia on the 24th and have not been able to put it down since. There was a slight bwah, bwah, bwaaah, moment of deflation when I didn't get the sim card on the same day - in fact I had to wait until after the following weekend - but it was still pretty grand on wi-fi.
However, now it's all set and I'm enjoying those soaring 4G speeds. I thought I'd give my initial impressions/experiences:
Plus
The look and feel is sublime.
The camera is fantastic - playing with Zoe is great and I haven't missed any of those much talked about megapixels.
The screen is crystal clear and super bright.
The SOUND is a world ahead of any other phone speakers - almost zero tinniness and a nice noticable bass.
The speed and smoothness is, well, speedy and smoothy as one would expect. No jerks, no lags.
The little notification LED behind the top speaker grill is ace.
Call quality es muy excellenté.
Generally the phone is a joy to use.
Minus
The camera - though fantastic - is rather complicated for a schmuck such as yours truly. Although for the level of functionality it affords, I suppose the complexity is necessary. Of course, it's simply a matter of becoming used to using the various menus etc..
I miss the physical "press to wake" button on the front. For example, if I want to check the time, I have to hold the phone in place to press the top button. First world problems I know, but still. I'd have liked the hTC logo to have been a pressable button.
When using the Zoe function - Google+ Instant upload will upload each frame as a separate picture, as is its raison d'ètre. Don't know how or if this can be solved in any smart fashion, but it's a bit jobbig.*
I think that's about it.
Is it a bug?
1) During a call to my son at a Valborgsfirande* last week, I was in a big crowd and tried to signal him using the torch function. Before displaying the message "Cannot use torch during a call", or something similar, the phone went through I'd say 30 seconds of freakiness. Screen went black and then came on again several times, buttons wouldn't respond, that sort of thing.
2) After using the Zoe function on the cam, I watched the resulting 30 second "Zoe". I decided to alter the content it chose to include by using the "select content" option from the menu. However, it seemed to ignore my selection of clips to be used and went with what it thought best instead.
3) I was listening to Watford v Leeds using TuneIn Pro on Saturday. Watford needed a win to automatically qualify for the Premiership - unfortunately they lost and will have to contest the playoffs. Hopefully this can be fixed in the next OTA update.
*1 a bit of a bummer
*2 It's a big Swedish festival, where youngsters get drunk very near a large fire which has been started by a procession of what looks like a torch-bearing KKK close harmony male voice choir.

The One is not like previous htc phones.
It's actually a great phone which rivals the S4 without the gimmicks. The screen is amazing. I'm glad I made the change instead of opting for the S4.
It doesnt suffer the same lag that the S3 and S4 does... Prob cause sense 5 is more optimised than TW and it's a step closer to stock android.
Only thing I miss is the removable battery, but being a Nexus fan I'm guessing the shawty won't mind this.
@Theshawty... DO IT!

I don't care whether the phone has a removable battery or not. I've never needed to switch batteries since I have a charges near me the entire day when I'm not in school or at work. I will definitely get it, but I'll have to wait until the beginning of July. I'm sure it'll still be a great phone by then.

Tjenare,
Men inget verkar hjälpa.
