Just a reminder of what SE are like. One word. X10. That is all I need to say. But I will say this. For.the people who didn't have an X10. They said June for GB and actually didn't get it till august. 2months after they said. So don't get your hopes up guys. Even my mate at SEUK said I shouldn't get my hopes up. That they are very unreliable even to their employees. He says that the alpha release will be better than official by.the time they releases hehe. But may. Seems more about what they say every yr. And then it's not till august or September. Same old ways I say. And so does someone who works foe them.

We also know someone who works for them it should be out on time sony ericsson are doing everything to boost there failing phone brand the x8 x10 not so good the 2011 range they have gone all out to get every sort of advertisment they can get have tried the arc alpha and aint looking to bad i think they mite be on time with this dude.
p.s yes sony are slow and behind but if they say a date (which aint normal) they stick to it just look at stuff like ps3 and psn if they dont know they wont tell you nothing if they do your first to know.
I think we'll have it before May in the European Union, hopefully we shall have a leaked ROM before then
It's still better then what a lot of the other companies are doing. I don't think Motorola can live up to what they promise.

I can tell you all that MT is not working on the new version 2.1 from SE. Hard lucks people, guess we have to wait for bootloader crack which IMO will never happen for x10 devices.

I'm seriously considering selling... I'm really dissapointed at how SE deals with software upgrades, the protected bootloader being the prime example of this. I'm hoping for the devs to do something good, but I'm not holding my breath. Sony's done a great job of crippling hope of a decent upgrade.
And yes, the phone works "as is" as many have stated, but the low in call volume, some moments of lag across the OS, lack of MT on a device that should clearly support it and other random little annoyances make me think that spending so much on a "flagship model" was a mistake... I would have loved SE to prove me wrong with a firmware update that solved a bunch of these issues. Now I'm feeling pretty sour about living with these issues as long as I own this phone.
I like this phone, and i am not going to sell it for a while, but i am a bit disappointed and i am sure that my next device will not be a SE, because i do not want to find myself in this situation again.
If their is a hell, you will get in to it if you sell your X10 to another. Just burn it!

Some comments are out of order indeed. But SE DID PROMISE something else than delivered. In the western world that is NOT acceptable.
I will not sell off my X10 just because delay in X10 software upgrade as hardware is more important for me.
I will still wait patiently for the Android 2.1 Upgrade.

I'm pretty sure most of us here purchased this phone with the notion that, it would be updated at the time that SE stated. No one here is being a baby for being disappointed because SE couldn't keep their word and I'm positive no one said they didn't like the X10. Regret buying ? Yes. Dislike the phone ? No.

Well luckily for you SE returned to the previous timeframe with the delay. They originally said that we would get the 2.1 update in Q4, then they moved it up to Q3 and now it's back to Q4.
So a release in Q4 is exactly when SE originally said that the update would come.

An official blog update is more then enough for me to take it as a promise.
just like the MT issue it was never stated on the blog that it had it so they could state it was never officially announced.
its exactly this kind of treatment which gives them a bad name. Why didnt they just keep it at Q4 originally?
Fair enough they would have been flamed for been Q4 but we would all be looking forward to it now instead of feeling let down.

Actually, if SE manages to get 2.3.3 running as well on our X10's as it's running on the arc, I don't really care. I wan't my phone to "just work", to cite iPhone users. Though I'll of course feel bad for the developers if SE decides to patch it, especially after seeing these major breakthroughs lately.
I don´t want my phone just to work. If the update from SE proves to be a crappy port from Arc count me out. I prefer to have a stable custom rom with little bugs than having a product that is just for show, that doesn´t perform nowhere near the Arc.
If SE is honest and gives us a fully working 2.3.3. very fluid and fast, then X10 will be fighting again with the big dogs.
If this update is just for patching holes and giving more locks then shame on you SE. If this happens and i buy another SE phone then shame on me. =) Although i can´t resist the looks of their models....

lol i'm almost dissapointed! i was looking forward to the CM7 build being created from the Nexus S rom.... almost but not. go sprint/samsung! i think getting a quick GB update would make the froyo debacle much more bearable. curious though... why 2.3 and not 2.4? i thought gingerbread officially made the transition to 2.4
Also gotta tell you few brave posters out there who were optimists about GB and its shortened development window were right. Wish I could remember specifically who it was but no more than 2-3 I'd guess, and I admit I wasn't one.
Lets hope it doesnt get released in a few months.

I agree, kind of. We had leaked versions of Froyo back in early November. Froyo wasn't officially released until mid March. Thats 4 months. Obviously there were complications (z4root) that caused major delays and the porting of Gingerbread shouldn't be nearly as difficult for Samsung, but . . . . you never know. If Gingerbread is launched officially in mid August, its still a major disappointment.

They haven't done much to deserve it. The least they could do at this point is confirm it to the public, not make people sit and hope.
Given the relatively short gap between these rdfs and actual updates in the past, I actually don't expect this to come months later. Maybe overconfident of me but the differences between Froyo and GB being supposedly much less than Eclair to Froyo, I think it looks good--maybe just weeks?

I'm holding out for next year as my work may be subsidising some handsets for staff, and they tend to be good on these things, I'm hearing up to 50% off from HR at the moment. Of course, I am also risking the handsets they have being old and grey...
But that's the chance you take when your sick of paying loads each month on a contract to get a good phone.
Back to the topic, Samsung's screens are just amazing. I was thinking about getting the S2 a few months back. I just never really was a Samsung person either and the Prime looks great. It's a real hard decision for me on whether to wait or get one now.
Specs look good, but not as groundbreaking as I was expecting from the new "Google phone". I suppose that might be due to the fact that most apps/games will run just fine on current hardware and they haven't really begun to support dual core properly yet. So no point in expanding the hardware when it will price the device out of the market for no real gains.
