Have GSM Galaxy Nexus, considering the Note... - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 General

So I have had my Galaxy Nexus GSM imported model (ATT in the US) and while I do like it, the Note is interesting to me.
Anyone have/had both and preferred the Note? If so, why?
I could sell the GNEX and get the Note for little cost to me. It's tempting...

I had both, but personally I prefer the Note.

nexus v note
Yes I have both /gsm. Much prefer the note. Its the whole phone, pen, screen size for movies
I just love it

Best Phone
The only thing you have to watch out with a note (if you're an average user not a modder like most people) is the size of the thing...
Other than that, you have nothing else to complain about... :victory:
This phone is the beast! :highfive:

I own both nexus and note (note 2x).. Also a gtab 10.1 a gtab 7plus an lg o2x and so far the best device its the note.. But there's only 3 days left for note 2(Wich I'm getting on day 1).. Why not to wait for it?

I love the Note...but I doubt my next phone will be a phone of this screen size. It gets tiring after a while. Lol.
I'm also never buying a non-Nexus device again after this.

I have just given my Note to my wife and got a GNex . As much as I like the Note it was just too big for my use. Also I craved aosp and CM on the Note was never fully functional for me.

I really like the Note. I really REALLY do! IF the Note 2 offers a big jump in tech, then I'll get it. All logic points to a no. We're looking at an SGS3 (which is a great phone, but maybe not worthy of an upgrade if you already have a Note) with a larger screen and an SPen.
I would like to wait and see what the next Nexus devices look like and have in stock for us. Hopefully The SGS3 in a Nexus form would be good hehe. 4.8" display would be a good compromise.

When the next samsung flagship is released we will have to wait 2-4 months. Then we will have the Note II or what they are going to call it. But the Note is a bigger succes then they expected, so we might see 5.0" + phones from HTC, Motorola, LG etc. And maybe even apple. So lets wait and see. But I know that it will be very hard to use a samller screen once you have owned this phone.
I think I would... but I'm not going to jump as one of the early adopters.. NO, not just yet...
I had learned my lesson before.. early adopters or the early to acquire the 'unit', the more you tend to experience some of the first hand bugs that came on it...
I tend to hold off till maybe the 2nd or 3rd batches before I'll try to purchase it. In that way, I'll know what are the underlying bugs and kinks the first batches would bring.. (as usually the case maybe.)

Same here. After years of switching phones every other month I have finally found my perfect device that suits me. I've had mine since release day and havent thought of another device.
In my opinion this is in the same league as my favorite devices. Original blackberry bold and htc hd2.

Smaller screen= a downgrade
Most of the users of Gnote will have trouble adapting to a smaller screen. Used dell streak for many months and then even gsII was not good enough.
My next move would be note II

I think here at the Galaxy Note Forums will tell you that, most will NOT get the SGSIII because we are all waiting for that 1080p, quad core processor on the Galaxy Note 2. It just seems right
can not comback smaller screen .i still happy with my Note
Unless it offers the same screen as Note. Otherwise, it will be hard to switch. Also, Note is very different than the rest of the phone so far.
I believe now that to me, the screen size is a major consideration for me.
why would I do that?
I change my phone only if next one is really better and SIII is a great phone for ppl that don't have Note

Should I get a Galaxy Note

I just recently bought a Skyrocket and being that it is SII based, it is a very nice phone. I am still being pulled into the Note though even with the SIII on the horizon. I am looking to hear from the guys who have a Galaxy Note what they think about it and after owning it for a while if they would keep it or trade for something smaller.
Just some FYI, I have been on android since the Aris, I have also owned the, Galaxy S, Thunderbolt, G2x, Moto Droid 2, Sensation, and xoom, all of which have been rooted and ROMed. I consider myself well educated and experienced in android phones.
I've had my note since November and can honestly say there's still not a phone on the horizon I'd trade in my NOTE for. Love it like a baby!

Same here...I bought my Note Back In November Last Year and there's no going back...waiting patiently to see what samsung does for version 2....heard rumors they want to make it a 6.5" screen...I say to keep it at 5.3 or 5.5 but bump the ram up to 2gb, use the tegra 3 quad core processor, 12mp with xeon flash back camera, 2mp front camera, official support for micro sd 64gb, two micro sd slots, dual sim slots, and a whole lotta other niceties to make this phone the king again...Ps I don't care if the price is set at 999 for all these features...Im buying...rofl...jk..seriously

i know the feeling that he has!
After watching that video I feel very much the same.
Not quite with a smartphone but I remember going from my 17" 1280x1024 LCD to a 24" 1920x1200 and it was WOW. After using the 24" and then looking at the 17" I just couldn't look at the smaller screen.
Even though I have not owned a smartphone other than the Note I can not see myself going to a smaller phone.
So my next phone will be another Note hopefully.
I really like it. But it really depends on the person.
So my recommendation is go to a store where they sell them and look at a demo or something.

I still have an SGS II and the wife loves hers. She doesn't want a Note. I love using the Note and I am still amazed at people's surprise when seeing the phone. They don't know what it is. Most people then want one.
I will be buying an International S3 when they start appearing used to see of the mid size screen between the s2 and note will be a good trade off, If so the SGS2 will go on Ebay and the Note will then be relegated to the back up position. If not the S3 will go back on Ebay and I keep the S2 until the Note II.
I don;t find the size prohibitive at all. I am used to using two hands on it and use it like a Notepad. Carrying it in my pockets is easy ( I would not want to put a case on it though).

I actually ask myself the same question. "Is that big purchase of the new device justified for a sake of some improvements (but not so overly dramatic)?".
I realise Note2 will come with 4 core processor, slightly bigger screen and perhaps Spen functionality ironed out and maybe better battery life. But how much all these improved features will affect my daily use. The more I think about it the less I'm convinced that I should switch...

None of the features that have leaked are worthy for NOTE users to switch. I mean sure from a Gnex or an S3... but the NOTE is still one of the most advanced smartphones out there.

Completely agree. I bought my Note 2-3 months ago, and sure i'd like to have Note 2, but lets be honest, throwing loads of money away just to get quad-core cpu ( which i probably won't even notice in my daily use ) is just...well...not very smart, unless you have a lot of cash you can spend for whatever you like, then i guess there's no discussion here. Will definitely buy Note 2, but probably in a year or so.

I had a Note 2 for a month, and why did I return it because of the screen. AMOLED is nice for blacks and such but having had a One X as my primary phone I'm just in love with IPS display. Much sharper overall, crisp text, natural colours, the N4 screen is on par with the One X. But I think the One X screen edges the N4 slightly. But would be happy with either.
I'm quite liking the N4, using stock Android is different to using a skinned version.
Both are good phones regardless, go for whatever your needs are.
Trade? Yes, add cash? No.
I can easily buy another n4, but am unwilling to shell out $650 for a note 2

1. No selling our trading outside the marketplace. No one would trade his N4 + $$ for a Note 2.
2. A very small percentage of users on the Nexus 4 subforum stick with stock.
3. There are many threads already comparing the Note 2 and the N4. In fact, there's a ton of threads criticizing the N4 and comparing it to pretty much every flagship phone out.
4. You haven't been gentlemanly and if you showed some manners, you'd get a more genial response. Remember that you came into our forum. Everyone here clearly is sticking with their N4.

samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 is it worth it?

hi
i am planing on geting a samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 they are now selling them at my walmart here in sonora CAthey started selling them in 2012 i been wanting too get one but is it worth it ? i be uesing this for note takeing playing games and web sufeing but i all so been thinking about geting a ipad 4 this is so hard too pick be come they are both selling at$499
I love mine, and I bought it at best buy and got them to price match amazon at $449 for the 16gb, and I woukd have got the 32gb for $499 if the had it in stock.
am going too go a head and get samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 has it seems that this tablet can do way way more then what the ipad can
when i got the $ saved up
Do you want simplicity - Ipad, or the ability to customise how you want - Note 10.1.
It essentially comes down to what you want to use the tablet for, remember this is a forum for note 10.1 and opinions will be biased,
I like the fact that with the note I connect it to the PC and don't need to use any other apps to convert my movie files to a compatible format, the same with music, text and apps.... It has a screen thats fine for viewing and the fact it has phone capabilities (N8000) just takes the cake. Throw in the stylus and it just blitzes the competition.
I know someone will yell at me for this BUT, the ipad has a retina screen and IOS6... I hate the fact they locked down the system so hard. It has not had any major makeovers since it 1st came out. It is a simple system that I find limited and boring, hence I have a note 10.1....
Others will probably disagree and I hope it won't degrade into a Apple vs Samsung war but probably will like all these types of threads do.
I'm not saying the ipad is a useless piece of tech but from personal experience with one, I won't be buying it ever....
We have the IPad 3 and the Note n8000 and if you like to customize your device... the note wins hands down. Browsing is so much better, speakers that you can hear and No iTunes dependency I love the note and don't like using the iPad/iPhone and I was an Apple fan for years.

I must again disagree with those that think the s-pen is the only thing that makes this worthwhile. I barely use it, but still love this tab. As I mentioned in another thread, I just spent 9 days in the hospital and this thing performed flawlessly. I used it constantly because they refused to let me sleep. Not a single lock up. Battery life was great. I was great having the extra memory and never having to worry about manually killing any apps. And the few times I did need the pen, it was there.
Yes, you can buy tablets with better resolution screens. But you can't buy one that performs better.

This pretty much sums it up. The Note's only weakness is its display. Not that it's a bad display; color reproduction, contrast, and brightness are all great. But 147 PPI is a bit behind the times and not the best for text. But given a choice between a higher PPI display or all the Note's features (well beyond inking) I'd choose the latter. I think a lot of folks feel the same way.
For the price I think I'd wait until the next generation. Samsung has been dripping hints that they plan on coming out with some new stuff this year.

There will always be something better just around the corner. You can wait till the Note 10.1 version 2 comes out. But at that point version 3 will be just around the corner.
As of today, this is the best tablet available,IMO. I don't see a version 2 coming for at least another 4 months. More likely it will be more like 6 months. But it's all guess work at this point. If you need or want a tablet now, this is the one to go for.
