Onlive - Acer Iconia A500

Downloaded onlive today and so far its just alright. the lag and graphics need to be fixed, i'm on 25mbs wireless n and it lags. I have also got my sixaxis controller working via Bluetooth and everything works except right trigger in dirts 3 and split second.

oh sweet it does pick up controllers, yeah the lag is gonna fixed or people might have overloaded the service today. totoally worth it for the free game

Not available in Japan yet.

well it doesnt need to be ...

does the ps3 controller only work for certain games?
how about with lego batman since that is free

Well, I got it to work, and it seems ok, but I would like a higher resolution. Does it work with xbox360 controller or PS3?

I works with xbox 360 controler. For me there is no lags, but graphics looks bad. Waiting for updates - maybe they will do it better

is your 360 controller wired?
As for the resolution, I have noticed this since I have been using onlive for sometime. On my computer monitor it doesn't look that pretty, but when played on my htpc to my big screen looks amazing only time will tell they most likely will be fixing this soon.
On a side note I am having a wet dream were valve buys them

Im loving it. Installed last night and got up this morning with legobatman in my games! No lag here and i have crap broadband, with bt, Loads of games that i love for only a couple of quid! Game on ppl
P.S. xbox controller working for me, now i can play assassins creed revelations at work, llluuusssshhhhhh!

I dont have a 360 controller but i have read about somewhere and for sure it works.

The xbox 360 wired controller works great with onlive, but I have only played lego batman.

I can use it with emulators, but in shadowgun I just spin. The driver program is probably worth a shot, if not maybe I'll just get a PS3 controller.

this is awesome. i've been looking forward to this game, and i'm really excited to see that there will be usb support! unfortunately, i just gotta wait for Google Checkout to refund the $2 authorization back to my prepaid credit card because there's just $4 left on it (no real c/c, so this is how I buy apps )
I'm pretty impressed with this game so far. I had no idea it had USB support. Anyone know if it supports bluetooth controllers too?

No spinning here using an original wired 360 controller (yes, the exact one that came with my pre-ordered 360 back in 2005 lol)
Its kind of funny to mention though. I got spinning in Nova 2 the first time i tried to play it. Once I disabled sensor rotation, it was fine. Which reminds me, in 9mm, i recall a similar issue where the camera always wanted to look up no matter how i was holding the tab. Seems to be a common problem

How do you an Xbox controller with Nova 2?
Working perfectly with my PS3 controller, this game is really fun and looks fantastic!
No spinning screen bought the newer wired black style i haven't tried with my wireless with charging cord but that wasn't compatible with a lot of Linux distros so i doubt for it will 4 our nice little tab.

There is a program for controllers avaliable in the market that gives tablets driver support for most popular controllers including the wireless xbox360 controller. Maybe that would solve the spinning problem, which I too encountered. If you do try it, please let us know the results. If I remember the name of the program I will post it.

OnLive player app now available

Oh yeh, you can now actually PLAY the games and the Xoom is officially supported. Touch controls are a bit dodgy so i was kinda hoping some clever person might get PS3 or Xbox controllers working but until then the official wireless controller is due out very soon.
Anyway, get it here: http://t.co/BIFyGpDR and enjoy.

Yeah, i'm gonna see if I can get the ps3 controller working with it, that would be awesome =]
My wired 360 controller through an OTG cable worked perfectly. This is a huge deal. Played split second and it looked great, lag wasn't an issue, I am impressed.
Got the app, we'll see what comes of this. Touchscreen is gonna have to go for me, not a fan of touchscreen controls especially when there's physical controller options. Tried a Saitek 6 button and a PS2 controller/adapter through the OTG... both let me use the analog stick and d-pad but no other buttons. Looks like it's time to bite the bullet and get the wired 360 controller.
Does the 360 controller work with navigating the menus, pausing and all that? And does the Xbox button do anything with OnLive?

Yeah it has full functionality built in with the wired controller. When you press the Xbox button it brings up the Onlive menu. It works REALLY well honestly
I'm guessing that OnLive will cotton on to that eventually and release an update to make all controllers except their own incompatible.
Having said that, has anyone tried using a wired controller with the USB adaptor that let's you use it with a PC? I'm guesting that only works with drivers but still......
The app actually runs ok when using my MiFi which i was surprised at. Although with a ping of anything over 70ms the controller lag gets a bit annoying.
Sent from my Optimus 2X using XDA App
After a few days with the app I'm pretty impressed. I gave the $10 a month plan a try so I could really get a good idea (plus compare against the PC version.)
The wired 360 controller works flawlessly and I agree, I could see them blocking the non-OnLive controller once it's released, or if they were smart after a little more adoption. The flawlessness goes away once you fire a game up though. There was some lag, and trying to play a couple multi-player shooters was dreadful. Playing these same games on the PC with the same controller was a noticeable improvement (of course, but just pointing that out).
Games look great on the Xoom but when I run it to the TV it's pretty low quality. Tried a few TVs, went through all kinds of TV settings, nothing made it look any better than PSX quality. Actually some PSX games have looked better on tube TVs to me. Could be a Xoom limitation, version 1 of the app, or a little of both. I could do without the mirroring on my tablet.
Sweet, Borderlands is included in the $10/month plan! Oh wait, here's a message that it won't run on tablets...
OnLive has some work to do with this, but it's very ambitious and I'm 100% behind this idea. They'll have some challenges now since they've gone to having a micro-console and PC/Mac apps to also having multiple Android tablets and phones and Apple tablets and phones. As far as this app on the Xoom, I would hold off on spending money with OnLive until the app gets a little better.
i like snes via ps3 controller on xoom - hooked up to tv - so this would be pretty nice too I bet!
Got my wired xbox controller today and it works brilliantly as previously confirmed. Just gotta hope OnLive don't go and nobble it's compatibility cos it was £25 cheaper than the official one.
Still, if they do, i can always use it with my xbox/PC......lol
Might actually buy a few play-passes now. Just gotta hope that 3 somehow manage to improve the latency on their MiFi so i can play on the go. Dreaming?

Has anyone got the Xbox 360 wireless controller to work with the OnLive app on the Xoom?
I'm using the official Motorola OTG cable with an official Xbox 360 Wireless Gaming Receiver (http://goo.gl/Rhi0q). The combination works brilliantly for emulators like SNES9X but it doesn't seem to work with OnLive. It registers the left analog stick, the start button (goes back to the Xoom home screen), and buttons A & B which seem to be the equivalent of Esc on the keyboard.
If there's no trick or an app I could use to map the controller to keyboard commands, etc. I might have to get a wired 360 controller specifically for OnLive.

Ps3 controller

Any using one with gameloft Games like nova or 9mm?
Thanks

Those games don't support controller functions. (I tried)
You need the sixaxis app from the market. it takes a lot of work with the screen tap emulation to get it just right, but it is well worth it. I play modern combat 3 with my ps3 controller, so it should work on anything.
Ya I have been screwing with sixaxis and a Sony branded ps3 bt controller. Finally got my own used one. Paired it up and with some touch mapping I can play gta very well. And about 9mm and Nova I'm still testing profiles for each but was able to play both with my controller. Just tested a few basic functions like anolog stick left and right and some other controls. Hows MC3 I'd like to try it. So far I'm fully set for gta and am working on 9mm and nova2 mappings, and I'm going to map air attack HD, madden 12 (if do able), NFS shift, and NFS hotpursuit, would like to do mc3 as well. Waiting to find the perfect settings for the buttons...

Not really hard at all. I did airattack HD last night and the tricky part was setting it to relative touch and getting the anolog button sensetivity right. For gta I noticed it worked without touch profile but it wasn't controlling right so I did one anyway. I have started on 9mm and Nova. Should be done with those Tonight after work.

Ok, I don't own a PS3 gaming console, so I have a stupid question.
Do I just need to go to the store and buy a bluetooth PS3 controler, or is there a off brand one that works well also?
Thanks!
EDIT: something like this I suppose... http://www.google.com/products/cata...a=X&ei=IpcUT5zUM8HgsQKFs4DsAw&ved=0CHgQ8wIwBA
Pretty sure off brand ones will work but I know from experience the Sony sixaxis works great. Used ones can be bought on ebay for around 25 bucks... or go New.

Will do. Thanks.
Off brand ones don't always work with sixaxis, might not work with gta. I bought and returned one before getting the official ps3 one. The legit ps3 controller works great wired without sixaxis, or wireless with sixaxis. Also, the ps3 keyboard works greas as a wireless keyboard and mouse.

Looks like the only "for sure" is to get the controller with the Sony name on it. Quick question for those that run this setup. The Dual Shock controller has the "rumble" does that work with the tablet setup? If not, I would hope to find one without the dual shock to save a little cash. Seems like writing the program to use the rumble would be a lot of unnecessary work.

So I'm getting just about 1% battery drop per minute of ANY (decent) game play. Is that about right? Seems like a LOT to me...
Also:
I agree Dead Trigger is a good game albeit a simple FPS. Maybe it's just me, but I feel like they super dumb down FPS's for phones because they're expecting it to be difficult to use the screen as a controller.
Maybe they do this rightfully so, but if you use a PS3 controller, suddenly all the FPS games are rudimentary and have no depth or challenge. (they all also run too slow when you have the ability to zoom around the screen with a joystick)

OTG cable is all that you need, it allows the phone to work in USB host mode so you can connect just about any USB device to the phone
For maximum flexibility, I recommend https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.poke64738.usbjoy which is an interface program for USB game controllers which allows you to map ANY usb controller to any key you want. I use this on my Kindle Fire for all the NES/SNES/Etc emulators. It should also work with the bluetooth based controllers. One thing that kind of sucks is that a lot of games are designed from the ground up for touch screen controllers so there is no provision to even change the input device

It's really not very difficult. To connect via bluetooth (which in my opinion is far superior to ugly and annoying wires) you will most likely need root.
I prefer the PS3 controller and this is the app I use: https://play.google.com/store/apps/...5ncGl4ZWxzdHVkaW9zLnNpeGF4aXNjb250cm9sbGVyIl0.
A year ago, connecting a wiimote was like 'WOAH!' now, It's almost expected. This is nothing new, and I'm really confused at why there aren't third party controllers for phones. The first good controller (or PS3/xbox copy) could become a standard to which all games are modeled upon. Game makers could even charge like $30 for a big title game and send you a controller for your troubles.
Unfortunately, as altitude909 said above, most every game these days is made with the idea that you'll be using on-screen controls. So they either do some funny things to make it easier to use the screen which doesn't translate into a controller, or they dumb down the gameplay so that it's just too easy with a controller.
Mass Effect is probably the best game graphically and gameplay wise on the US version Galaxy S3 currently. No matter how hard I try, that game just cannot translate into a controller. Because the nature of Mass Effect being a third person life action but turn based shooter, they tried to incorporate that unique gameplay into a phone, which actually works well with on screen controls, but could be so much more enjoyable if you could use a controller. Problem is that the game requires the player to tap on enemies to aim, and also slide around to use various powers...
Can an otg cable and 360 controller work with games, like emulators, without having root?

[Q] Gaming controller suggestions

So I'm torn between two options. A PS3 controller + gameklip, and the Moga Pro. Specifically with 4.3.
With our lack of a self powered USB OTG, and the recent changes in Bluetooth from 4.2 onward, what is the "best" controller to use with our N4s?
Rooting is not a problem. As most reviews of android game controllers revolve around not having to be rooted, and having USB OTG support.
I'm leaning towards the Moga Pro with its built in clip, and dual connection mode. (Bluetooth HID, and the Moga app.)
Anyone has experience using both controllers on the N4?
Edit: wasn't sure if to post here or in the Q&A forum. Since the question itself is about accessories. If a mod deems necessary, please move this thread.

I haven't use the Moga so i'm posting for no reason...ha
But I really do love the ps3 controller using an app by the same name from the play store. It really is great how you can image map and such. That being said, there is a Moga thread in this forum somewhere and you might get better results there. Id be interested to hear about the comparison though.

Yeah, the compatibility of the ps3 seems to be the best. The ability to map buttons to screen presses seems to be the best way to make any game work, whether it has controller support or not.
I've heard of lag issues of using Bluetooth and WiFi at the same time with the Moga, not sure if these issues were ever fixed or not. Are they present with the ps3 controller? I have unlimited mobile data, but reception is obviously better on WiFi than mobile while inside my house.
The main thing stopping me from using the PS3 controller is the price. Once I buy an official controller plus the gameklip, you're looking at almost $80 after taxes and/or shipping.
I've been watching craigslist and might start looking at local pawn shops to see if I can find a used ps3 controller at a better price. (Unlike GameStop which gives you a whole $5 off for a used controller)
Edit: and while i asked for opinions from those who have used both, I'm more than open to hear from those who have used one or the other. I just want opinions from people who actually use one of these devices on a N4 with 4.3.
gplus.to/hartley add me, let's play some games.
hello my friend, i recently purchased the moga pro controller to play with my n4, and im absolutly happy about it, the control feels really nice in your hand, like really nice..i've been playing a lot mc4,riptide gp2, asphalt 8, shadowgun deadzone and a few more, and they all run perfectly with no laggs, i repit, 0 lagg xD... i've been playing some emulator aswell, using the moga universal driver controller, and it runs just fine , playing zelda ocarina of time on this bad boy is really awesome , i have tried sixasis controller, but for like 2-3 days, and it was ok, but u need a gameklip to play with, and the set up for mapping is a bit strange to me ( i dont know why) setting up the moga controller was not a problem, is really easy to set up.
i hope this help to you, if u have any question for the moga pro controller, just ask

I will have to check out kainy, that's one feature I loved about the nvidia shield. While the streaming app sounds awesome, I honestly only see myself using it with diablo iii. KB/mouse > controller for fps. Strategy games have too many buttons. Diablo is honestly perfect.
The phone will be the screen. I won't be hooking it up to the television. I'll wait for a dedicated device for that.
Gameklip is a ~$20 plastic clip that will hold your phone onto the ps3 controller. Much like the Moga will hold your phone. A little pricey, but from all the reviews its a very well made clip.

For you it sounds like you need to sell the Moga and get a gameklip.
gplus.to/hartley add me, let's play some games.
I had an Ipega, it wasn't great. Really want to try a Moga but they're still too expensive in the UK.
