Replacing music from Xperia play. - Xperia Play General

Has anyone tried to replace the standard music file from the Xperia play, and replace it with the latest music.apk which includes google music and store. As I know when you removed the file from x10 it messed up the ringtones and alarm clock mp3.

How do you go about doing that? Just place the APK into the root folder and replace the other music apk?

I'm not sure as I uninstalled the music.apk and moved the new google music.apk and installed it and. The music library was unselectable for my alarm. So still not sure what to do unless I install tone picker.

[Q] replacing music app

hi guys im using onecosmicsICS port rc3 at the moment, ive noticed there is a RC4 available, but it uses AOSP music instead of google music, (RC3 used google music), i was wondering if anyone could give me a detailed 'idiots guide' to completely removing AOSP music player and then replacing it with google music player, so that only google music player would appear in the app drawer.
thanks in advance
Hi
I have just installed rc4. I will check and report back

I had the same concern after flashing my phone ICSSGS RC4.2, I liked the Google Music Player more than the AOSP Music. Well this is what I did to get it back. First I cleared the cache of the AOSP Music in the RC4.2 then I clicked on Disable, You might get a warning pop-up you can ignore it. Then I Googled for ICS Music player and found a link then downloaded the apk file and installed it. I felt really happy to get the Google Music back but I had few issues with it. The player was too laggy and it took ages to load the Album Arts. So I uninstalled it and installed Market Enabler from the market and selected the country as USA AT&T. Then I opened the Market and Searched for Google Music, then I installed it from the Market. This version works flawlessly and it is the same as what was in the RC3.1. If you are in US or any other country which already has Google Music support then there is no need for you to install the Market Enabler. Just try searching for Google Music in Market first. Cheers...!!!
You should easily be able to replace the music player by doing the following:
Get Root Explorer from the Market.
When installed, open it and go there where the new music.apk is
(long press it and chose either copy or move)
Now scroll up to the top and chose "previous folder" until you're in the first possible.
Look for folder system and open it.
Look for folder app and open it.
First of all hit the button "Mount R/W" on top so that you can delete or add files in this folder.
Scroll down til you found the old music.apk, long press it and delete it.
Now just hit the "insert" button on the bottom and it'll put the new music.apk which you chose "copy or move" before into the app folder.
Restart your phone for the new apk to be shown in app drawer.
Just one more thing. In system/app don't delete or edit any other files than music.apk or else may your phone doesn't work right anymore

Music player

OK, I've searched all over the forums and the market and google, but I have yet to find a player that does what I'm looking for... All I want is a "dumb" player. My requirements are this: play by folder, system library with selectable folder scans so it doesn't play ringtones and notifications as music and simple playlist management i.e. Add folder... essentially like winamp for windows. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I've tried doubletwist mixzing and winamp and all have some of what I want but none have all. Help please...

Just try ttpod, wow thats amazing music player and its free...

Only problem with ttpod is when selecting a music folder the songs play out of order. My mp3 collection is organized artist> album> (track number) - (song name).mp3 it keeps wanting to play based on (song name) alphabetically. Anyone know any way to fix this? Power amp is great but as limited as my income is, I can't justify paying 4.99 for an app.

better use MIUI Music player.... It has shake to change feature too. And about changing your Google Music (The one with Creed), you will require Root Explorer. Just go into System/App and remove (or take out) Music.apk and replace with any other music player you want. Reboot.
My preference, use MIUI Music player. Search google, it is easily available. And it even shows "Music" as it's name tag (Unlike most music players like NRG which show "NRG Music Player").

I'm not sure about some details. maybe I have to ask some question.
1. are you rename your apk with same name as the original music player?
2. can you find music.odex in /system/app ?
if the numer one is yes, rename it to anything you want. set the permission rw-r--r-- then reboot your phone.
if the number two is yes, delete it.
i did both.. Did not work dude!!!

GPMusic to Stock Samsung Music

Hello!
I'm using Google Play Music. Is there any way to save the files and use them in the stock player? I use the S View cover and would like to use the music widget on there but it only works with stock. Any ideas?
Thanks!

Do you have the files in a music format stored on your PC/available somewhere? I would recommend to create a Music folder on the root of your SD Card and play /shuffle from there is what I do, yet I use beat music player.

Thanks for the suggestion. That option is available, but I'm trying to manage it all from my device, so I can "pin" or make songs available offline, but play them in the stock player because I want to utilize that widget on the S-View case.
Thanks!
