[Q] Nook Simple Touch outside the US, 1.1, and more questions... - Nook Touch General

Hi.
The Nook Simple Touch is the only e-reader that matches my requirements - good to hold, e-ink, touch screen AND hardware page turn buttons, NOT an Amazon device. Thought I'd mention that BEFORE someone recommends the Kindle, or Kobo, or whatever!
Having said that I live in the UK. My friend who is on business in the US just now is supposed to bring one back but has just messaged me to say that his father's device (bought last month) has been locked by B&N as it is for "US users only". I believe he simply activated the device by creating a B&N account and registering it back in the UK. I had suggested, before hearing about this locking, that he turn mine on over there and register it on a US IP address and then turn off wifi - I would use Calibre PC Sync only so B&N would never "see" the device connect to themselves again.
Several questions -
1. Would my approach work? i.e. Register it in the US, turn off wifi.
2. Is it possible to kick my friend's dad's device back into action somehow? Preferably without rooting.
3. Is it possible that my friend's dad's device was locked by 1.1, assuming he had wifi on and the update was pushed?
4. Would there be a way to get 1.1 and not be locked?
Basically, we'd both like 1.1 (for the benefits it brings) but not fussed about rooting.
Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.

Well first off I'm a newbie for this forum therefore I may not be fully equipped for your question.
Then again I'm using the NST for some time (3 months), I'm not in US (Turkey), the device was never been logged in US (as far as I know).
I've never experienced any locks or malfunctions since. The only thing I can't do is purchase a book. But then I never tried I'm sure I can find a way.
I'm using it's wi-fi browser, since it is rooted in it's first week I'm using dropbox to manage my ebooks.
PS. I have a B&N account for a valid but unreal posting address.

I'm outside of the US, using a nook very nicely (IMHO better then the kindle or Kobo)
I've updated to 1.1 without a hitch and everything is running smoothly. As for registration, you can try this (wish i new about it when i activated mine)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=15618850&postcount=8
otherwise, what i did, I just filled in phoney information to get past the registration. My device is never on wifi (battery drain) and i sideload any updates. Since i use this as a dedicated e-reader, I've not bothered rooting it at all (I can't say the same for my phone)

I'm in Brazil, and I've restored and reseted my nook about three times since last week, and everytime I wiped it clean, I has to put my login, which worked fine.
To get books, I use a proxy on the computer - telling BN server that I am in US -, get the books (buy ou just get the freebies), and then connect my nook and download it, using even local server. It can be bothersome to buy on computer, but it works.

Interesting, I tried the US proxy method several times when I first got my NST, and I also have a US shipping address registered with B&N, but still my orders were cancelled.
I suspect the reason was using a non-US credit card, but then why were you able to buy eBooks?
Anyway, there's a way around it all if one absolutely must buy eBooks from B&N, just buy electronic gift cards and use them to purchase eBooks

I've entered my virtual credit card number, to try this and succesfully downloaded free books tonight.
Without spoofing or proxy...
As for buying can't tell yet.

Well, I have an international credit card, and it works like a charm.
I have a truckload of free stuff from BN, and they were all downloaded on my house's wifi.

Thanks all for the replies!
Couple more questions - isn't that bypass registration trick for the colour Nook? Or does it work for the NST too?
When you've talked about fake info in your B&N account, what details do you need there? Is it just a phoney US address, or a credit card and real address, or credit card and phoney US address? As I wouldn't be buying from the site I don't think it would matter that my credit card had the wrong address?
Cheers again for the help.

The registration trick should work for the nook, according to the thread. I've not tried it, so can't speak to it.
As for information, What i did was register online the B&N's website, placed my order for the nook to a friend of mine who lives in the USA, then when activating my nook, just entered my user/pass. I don't remember exactly how i paid for it, it was either Credit card or PayPal. That information is probably still tied to the account.
I think i'll go check when i have time and remove those references.

Hi there...
I live in italy and did exactely the same (middle september, if i'm not remember bad)...
I've just create an account, paid with debt card, shipped in USA address...then , when i received in italy, just activated with my BN account.
Until now, i've never updated via wifi because i prefer to check often on BN website and download from there... it is really a simple method and usually you can find it on support site 1 or 2 week before they release it via wifi

Had some questions about my experience with this -
1. Do you need to fake a US address? (I'm in London, UK) Do you need to enter real card details?
2. Does the OoBE Skipping technique work? (seems like Nook Color only)
3. Did you manage to update it to 1.1?
My answers, if it helps anyone...
1. See 2.
2. The Skip OOBE technique works fine. I didn't do it myself as I got my friend to try it in the US before he came home in case we needed to try something else... we figured it might help if he was in the US at the time. As it turned out that wasn't an issue as the "skipping" technique worked perfectly.
3. I backed up my Nook as per this thread - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=15115162 - before doing anything at all. I was on version 1. I backup up, then sideloaded the 1.1 update and backed up again. There were no issues so the backups weren't needed but better safe than sorry.
Notes: I don't use Wifi at all and sideload all books. I had no intention of using wifi so have no idea how skipping registration affects online use. The Factory menu "trick" doesn't seem to work in 1.1 (for me at least)... so be careful if you go to 1.1 first it might stuff things up.
Cheers for all the help here.

The factory mode does indeed work on 1.1:
1.Hold the right top button and move your finger from left to right on the top of the screen.
2.The factory button will appear at the bottom right of the screen, tap it.
3.Hold again the right top button and tap the right bottom part of the screen, where the factory button appeared
4.A button labeled skip oobe will appear, tap it, your done

^ Thanks for all the details!

Cool, does it just work from the main register/pre-register screens then? Obviously as mine is already skipped I was just trying it from the regular home screen - and it didn't work from there, for me.

It works before you register or after you deregister, on the first screen that appears, without clicking any button, don't know if I've expressed myself correctly here

Ah okay, that makes sense, cheers. I was trying it after registration had been skipped just out of curiosity, to see what else was in the Factory menu.

Just wanted to report back about my battery life so far with the Nook Simple Touch.
I received the Nook on the 3rd Dec.
From the 3rd (battery at 80%) to the 13th Dec, I've needed 2 full charges, thus a charge is averaging 5 days.
I've been thinking that the battery may be faulty (lots of posts online that some batteries cannot hold a charge). So i googled it for a while. I then came across a post on the B&N forum AND XDA, saying that if you keep your nook unregistered, the battery life will drain much quicker. I decided to put this to the test.
http://bookclubs.barnesandnoble.com...reader-battery-life-lousy/td-p/1071104/page/7
(cant find the XDa post atm)
I proceeded to Factory Reset the device and log in with an email address (skipping the card details) after the 2nd full charge.
It has been about 36 hours since the full charge and the battery is at 96%. (Avg 1.5 hours reading every day). From simple extrapolation (I know this wont be accurate), it should last me 37.5 days! Pretty big difference compared to the <5 days I have been getting.
Not sure if its the Unregistered part, or whether my Wifi Radio was not shut off properly before (and registering allowed me to turn on and off the Wifi properly), but so far it seems significantly better.
Will report back when the next charge is due.
PS. Not all USB cables work with the Nook! Was going mental about it, thought my eBay seller ripped me off! Use the supplied B&N cables (somehow my Samsung Galaxy S USB cable works too)

Why would a unregistered Nook Simple Touch's battery drain faster than a registed one
I live in the US and could register the NST, but it's the pricipal of the matter and I don't want to register it. I completely disagree with having to register a device when I OWN it, not Barnes and Noble.
I do not wish to root it. I do not wish to receive free books or content from B&N.
I just want my sideloaded NST to have the "2 month" battery life that B&N advertises WITHOUT registering to a B&N account.
The thing is, I have read on other forums (as well as the post directly above) that bypassing B&N registration causes the battery to drain really fast... faster than the ~2% a day WITH registration.
Currently I am experiencing the same average 20% battery loss per 24 hours with Wifi OFF and little to no use. 20% a day equals recharging every 5 days, which is far from the advertised "2 months" or 2 weeks (claims from reviewers) for that matter.
I have scoured the internet and I know others are experiencing the same battery drain with an unregistered nook, but I cannot find the reason as to why this is.
Personally, I really dont understand how bypassing registration would have anything to do with the battery...but, I am not very tech savy.
Any suggestions as to how to fix the battery drain issues on a nook that is not registered to a B&N account as well as an explanation of what is causing this issue?

I do not see the "issue"...
Registering a Nook does not mean you will receive spam from BN, 'cause you can decide to do not receive it....
I just receive newslettetr , because i want it, nothing more... If so, what to say about Kindles with advertising????
Sometime i really do not understand peoples: when you are buyng a car, you need to regiter it, but i neve ear about someone said "i'll not buy a car, because Government ask me to register it..."

The ISSUE is that it does not make any sense that the battery should drain if it is unregistered. I am COMPLETELY aware that you do not receive spam. I just do not want to receive ANYTHING from B&N. I hope the next person who posts can answer my question, not assess why I don't care to register my Nook.
My ISSUE is this:
How do I prevent battery loss if I bypass the B&N registration??

[Q] Registration Error : Sorry we're having trouble setting up...

Hi all,
i just bought a Nook color from a Ebay Guy.
He told me he rooted the nook color, and use a reset factory before sell me the nook. and now the product is new.
I Power On the nook color, choice my wifi connection = > OK
But i can't register ... and use the nook color :'(
i write my informations :
name/firstname, email and password, and i have a message :
"sorry we re having trouble setting up your nook color. Please shutdown the device and try again."
After reading some posts, i think that this guy registered his account, and now it will be impossible for me to use the Nook color ?
I don t know his NC mail/password ...
If someone can help me, thx by advance.
I saw that when I was typing the wrong account password. After you fail to login a few a times it just defaults to that even you it is a separate attempt to register.
Try going into /setting/device info/erase and deregister the device. or poweron while holping volume and home button at the same time.
If that does not work you can try doing a full reset. That's where you boot the device and a few seconds after the N logo appears you hold the power button to power it off and then reboot it. Do that 8 times and then during the boot process it will reflash the device.
Then do the deregister or power+vol up+home.
I too have this "sorry we're having trouble setting up your nookcolor. please shutdown and try again" message
I just bought this nook it was sealed and I got this message after first boot I have tried the 8x reboot trick, and the 3 finger salute to reset it but every time i try it fails to register
Help?
EDIT: When I say it fails to register...it doesnt even give me a chance to input my bn account info...
Bump. Has anyone heard of anyone else having this registration issue at all? Not a major deal for me as I have all my books backed up on my computer and I think I can just load them on the SD card and read them, but I won't be able to buy any from BN using the nc...

There is a method of getting around the screen that works its on the nookdev site:
http://nookdevs.com/NookColor_Factory_Mode/Skip_Out_of_Box_Experiance
When "tapping" the power button i did a little more of a 1 second press for it to work for me. also wait a second before hitting the corners. then you get to the normal screen.
Hope this helps
Turned out an error on my part.
Had skipped the all important boot with the "n" key and "Power"
Consider it step 2 of the reset "8 failed boot attempts"

Thank you very much for this. I got the same error and was wondering if it is possible to skip it. It took me about 10 tries to get the right timing but I was able to skip OOBE. I don't plan to use BN service anyway.
I am having the same issue on my backup nook. It was registered once. I auto-nootered it. Then wiped it because of crashing problems. I did 8 failed boots wipe, then the "N" + Power wipe. Now it will not register. I used the bypass OOBE steps and can use the Nook now, but I need to register it. Could there be a hardware issue? I called B&N last night. They placed a ticket, but had no other solutions.
Edit: Issue resolved. I called B&N support again and informed them that I already had a ticket and tried both of the reset steps. They informed me that I had a failed deregistration attempt of the Nook. They manually deregistered the device and I was able to login.
Anyone want to sticky this?
Registration Issue
I had the exact issue described here yesterday and had to call B&N for help. I made the mistake of creating a SECOND B&N account from my NOOKcolor afer reimaging with autonooter. B&N does not allow you to have two email addresses/accounts registerd to one NOOK inorder to protect the content I would have downloaded with my first account. Once a conflict is detected, they remotley wipe and reset your device. F*cked up right?? I dont remember reading this warning in the instructions.. but in all fairness, I never did read them entirly.. The devise was wiped as soon as i opened the SHOP.
The B&N tech suppport rep was very helpful. Thanks to this article I was sure this was the issue. They loacated the second account/email address I registerd my nook to via serial number and deleted that account for me. The registration process still would not work so he had to register the device on their end. After, I used my original account/email info to complete the registration process successfully. He also could not confirm my waranty or somehting along those lines. I was concerned that he can see something posted to my account that voided my nook warantay because it was rooted. He said that I would be getting "updated" and because i purchased my device 14 days earlier, he extened my warantay for a year from today!! I imediatly noticed something was different. The wirless utility was now defaulting to "SHOW PASSWORD" when configuring WiFi and the text was noticeably different. Concerned but satisfied, I burned a new image with autonooter and proceeded to root. The Nook would not boot past the N logo screen. I tried several times but it would not boot and root. I wiped the devise to factory defaults once more and loaded autonooter with success. Everything seems to be back to normal and device if functioning flawlessly.
I hope this helps anyone who thought B&N just F'd them
I also bought the NookColor as a gift off eBay. The seller said it was "new," but that someone in his family may have used it briefly before they did a factory reset.
I took this at face value, but I didn't realize that B&N links each Nook to a secure account and that link is not affected by wiping the device whatsoever.
So, we got the "Sorry we're having trouble" error and no amount of fiddling on our end helped.
Finally, on my second call to technical support, I was told that my device (which they located in their system by serial number) was paired to someone not me. Therefore, that person would have to call them and authorize them to have their name unpaired from the Nook. They would under no circumstances proceed any further with just me.
Apparently, they wanted the name of the previous account holder / owner, the date of purchase and a credit card number associated with the account. Hopefully, I can get in contact with the eBay seller and he is willing and able to jump through these hoops. Otherwise, I may have just purchased a pretty expensive paper weight.

That would be so effed up if the seller doesnt help. Hopefully they will do what is right. But if you do end up with an expensive paperweight. Just flash CM7 to your nook and you will still have a fully functional tablet. Yes you loose the stock b&n experience. But you get so much more out of CM7 anyways.
Good luck!

Thanks Racks.
UPDATE: As of today, issue solved. Both the eBay seller and B&N got together and joined my B&N account to the Nook rather than the one that was already paired.
Joy!
My nook just says register then I received an error sorry we're having trouble setting up your nook please shut down the device and try again please I need help . Terri

Nook Simple Touch freezes completely

Hey
I've begun having problems with my rooted Nook a while ago - it was just freezing at random moments, sometimes unable even to be restarted.
Today I finally decided to perform a factory reset, hoping it would help. Unfortunately, it still happens - at first I wasn't even able to go through the registration process, as it freezed on a wifi page or on a login page. Now I've passed it and am on a home screen, but looks like the factory reset hasn't fixed my problem.. Any ideas what I should do?
I don't have any backups.
From what I've noticed the Nook usually gets back to life when I plug it in, so it might be a battery issue. The problem is, I can't my warranty to replace it, because I left it at home on the other side of the world, where I won't be back until january.. so I'm looking for something I can do on my own.
You only need your serial number to trigger a warranty replacement, as far as I know.
You will need to call BN and be ready to be on hold a long while, but they ought to be able to help you out.

That's a good thing then. And who covers the cost of shipping to US?
I've contacted their CS by email but seems like I'm getting answers not related to my problem..

They ship the unit to you, and I think they box is prepaid for the return shipment.
You will need to do this over the phone, as far as I know -- their CS is weak to start with, and I'd be very surprised if you were able to get a warranty replacment moving as a result of an email conversation.

Just called them and looks like I need an american credit card or to go to USA, both being impossible for me (and probably they can send a new nook only to US either). So I'm looking for any other options, don't care about my warranty.
I think that I'd do some sleuthing and figure out if it is the battery.
Use any of the utilities to look at battery voltage and not "percentage".
If the battery is dead I'd try replacing it with a generic 3.7V Li ion battery.
The temperature sensor could be replaced with a fixed resistor if required.
There are some folks who have found that opening the device, disconnecting the battery, then doing something that reads like discharging a capacitor - there is sometimes a problem with the battery, where it is fully charged but the OS thinks it is fully discharged.
Here is a post that describes a fix which might apply for the OP:

Simple Fix for Freezing Nook Simple Touch
I am going to post this here and on the xda thread referenced above. This may not work for everyone but it worked for me. And it is a simple fix that does not involve taking the NST apart.
Run the Battery Calibration v 1.2 app per the instructions on its opening screen (start app, charge to 100%, touch button in app.) App can be run while nook plugged in.
I found it here
https://battery-calibration.en.uptodown.com/android/download
But note that it is found here also (some of the mirror links still work)
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1033529
The Nook Simple Touch runs a modified version of the Eclair version of Android. Finding Eclair compatible apps is becoming increasingly difficult. So finding a battery calibration app that actually works is golden.
MY SYMPTOMS
Nook Simple Touch froze. Battery showed mid 70% range when plugged in to charge. After recharge everything was fine until it got back into the mid 70's again.
Then it started freezing in the 80% range.
I finally decided I needed to do something when it started freezing in the 90's.
I had even ordered a new battery (which will likely fix this issue also.) But decided to try this super simple fix first.

Today is Official Launch

OUYA sent out an update last night on Kickstarter saying today is the official launch.
Site changed from "pre order" to "buy now".
http://www.ouya.tv/
Just got my Ouya. Two hiccups:
1) After updating, I needed to turn the wifi off then on (in the Android setup menu) to reconnect to the network. Otherwise, it wasn't seeing the network.
2) Wow, you need a credit card just to finish setup?! I don't kiss on first date. I don't like to give credit cards out before getting to know the Ouya. Not cool. My probability of returning the unit went up to 20%.
Atleast you have a unit... I pre-ordered february first and not on my doorstep.
I even have an email saying that i should recieve my unit in april.
Contacted support and they said it will ship in a little while.
Thanks aholes!

You don't need a credit card to complete the setup, it's optional, at least it has been prior to last nights update. In fact, they just added support for prepaid cards two updates ago, so there's no way they are requiring a card. I know when I setup my console, it asked if I wanted to enter it, I just hit cancel or whatever it was and that was it.
Not saying you're wrong, it could very well be a bug or something, which wouldn't be good, but you're the first one I've seen say that today.

sorry if I came off thinking you were dumb in some way, I didn't mean it like that at all! After I replied, I actually heard many others saying the same thing. I wonder why they required this! It makes no sense, unless it's another layer of protection against bootlegging from the market. But if that was the case, they should have come out to say it.

Nook glowlight 6" does not want to register

Hello,
I got a NOOK Glowlight 6", but when I turn it on it connects to wifi, but does not want to register. I downloaded the new version of the firmware, but it still gives the same error - "Network Problem. A network-related error occurred. You may have lost connectivity to the local wireless network. Press Continue and we'll try to test your connection". I tried it at several internet access points. Where to look for the problem? How to reset to factory settings?

When your device is at the welcome screen and you attach it to your PC, can you still see the update zip on the Nook drive? If so the update has not happened. You need to leave it alone to go to sleep before it will install the update. See my comments in the post directly after this one for information about a factory re-image.
Odd that there are essentially two identical problems within a few days.

When I copy the device update and let it sleep, I check over time and the backup file is missing. This means that the update was successful. However, it cannot be registered. Additionally, I learned that this device has never been used since it was purchased and has not been registered, although it is an older model. Now I'm trying for the first time and so far without success.

Today I factory reset the device and copied the new firmware, which is installed, but again does not want to register.
Then I bypassed Oobe and the device can now be used locally, only it is constantly looking for a connection to a news server, but ...

It's difficult to imagine at this late date what might be wrong with a device that has never been used before.
A few things come to mind:
1. You say you did a factory reset. People often confuse an erase/deregister with a factory re-image. They are very different. There's not much point in an erase/deregister with a device that has never been used before. A factory re-image (triggered by eight failed boot attempts or by some software package like Nook Manager), on the other hand, would theoretically correct something that happened recently which corrupted the system and is preventing it from behaving properly.
2. I should have asked this at the beginning but I didn't. Are you by any chance outside the U.S.? If so, is it possible you have a device with non-U.S. firmware? I actually don't know if the 1.2.2 firmware update can be applied successfully to a non-U.S. device. The procedure I would expect to work would be to flash U.S. firmware first, then do the update and then try to register the device. If that is your situation, here is a link to the site where you can get information about flashing U.S. firmware: https://sites.google.com/site/xcdguides/nook/nookregion
3. Skipping OOBE is one approach but unless you plan to remove all the B&N system (including the Reader), you're going to be stuck with a hobbled device with shortened battery life.
4. Have you tried calling B&N support? Sometimes devices are "blacklisted", although it seems like yours would never have had the chance. If the device is blacklisted on their servers, no amount of fiddling on your part is going to fix anything.

For changing the region for Nook Simple Touch with Glowlight (https://sites.google.com/site/xcdguides/nook/nookregion), but whether the same is applicable for Nook Glowlight (2013)? Or there must be another application?

No, that stuff is a whole system image for the NST.
It has nothing to do with the Glowlights.
I'm sure that there are localizations for language (which is a bunch of text) and that "region" is something smaller.
How is "region" adversely affecting you, be specific.
Does it say when you try to register, "You live in the Purple Zone, you can't do that!".
If you tell me the exact sympton I can figure out where to defeat it.

The problem is that by skipping the registration, there is a window in the home news screen that is constantly looking for a connection to the server to view the news, but apparently looking for it on an UK server, and can not connect, so the battery drops more. faster than usual.
As can be seen from the time settings, only European time zones can be selected.
Obviously you need to change the location to register and not draw much from the battery.

OK, so you've not been very precise. What exactly is 6" NGL? A model number would be really helpful so people would know what you are talking about. My assumption (among many) was that you were dealing with an old Nook Touch with Glowlight. If not, then nothing I have said applies.

I apologize for the cuts. It's about Nook Glowlight 6" white (2013) model BNRV500, not Nook Touch with Glowlight.

Oh, that's one of the models that I don't have.
It falls on the continental divide of the OMAP 3621 (NTS-like), not the side of the iMX6SL (modern Glows).
You said you downloaded the new firmware.
Which version, do you know the URL?

I have downloaded the new firmware v.1.3.2, which is on the B&N website -
https://help.barnesandnoble.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/4212/related/1

I have another device from the same model BNRV500, which has US regional settings, it is registered and works perfectly. The only difference is that when setting the time, you can select only US time zones, and the other only European time zones. Can the firmware with the settings be copied / extracted from the device with the US settings and transferred to the other? Probably needs to be rooted?

Thank you for the answers.
The time zone differences are those seen in the settings, but there is probably a difference in the servers to which the device is trying to connect. I think this needs to change to be successful, but I don't know how.
This code provided by you, where should it be entered and how? I'm sorry, but I'm not a programmer. If it is done with any program, can I try, for example, Android studio? And should the device be rooted before that?

That's the command line. You get there by using ADB. (There's lots of tutorials here on ADB.)
You need to be rooted. That's the #. Unrooted has a $.
I have a similar problem. My glowlight 3 won't register, I enter my credentials, and there is "working please wait" screen and nothing happens. The device is rooted, I installed Simple ink launcher and KoReader, everything works, except that yellow light which is so plesent at night.

Bypass the lock screen

Hi all - I imagine this has been asked a thousand times before, but I am new here and in need of some real help.
My brother recently passed away, and his phone (Huwei P Smart 2019) mysteriously went into Airplane Mode, and has no sim card. The lock screen is on and none of the 'usual' numbers or patterns he used appear to work. This phone was his lifeline before he died, using it to speak to doctors and care workers - which is why I do not think he set it to airplane mode himself.
Shortly after he died a 'friend' went to his house to 'secure valuable belongings' and he had my blessing to do so. When I managed to get there, and secure those belongings myself, lo and behold the phone was locked.
Apparently, it does this when it powers up after the battery drains. Apparently, (according to the 'friend') on a reboot it shows a lock screen... and somehow goes into airplane mode. All I know is his two other older android phones do not have passcodes and all are open and accessible after a reboot - I've already been able to check these for data easily enough. I cannot even see what version of the OS is installed, but I'd guess it is the default that the phone came with.
I am not an Android user, and am certainly not a 'power' user of any device, so I don't know if what the 'friend' is telling me is total BS or not. What I do know is there is likely to be some essential information stored on that phone, let alone photos and memories that his family would like - I am specifically looking for any details of his medical treatments and messages he might have received just before he died.
I've trawled around countless 'phone repair' booths in countless malls, and everyone tells me the same thing - it can be opened, but you have to wipe the phone. Obviously, I don't think that'll help as a) I don't want to reuse the phone and b) I need the data from it to help with an ongoing case.
So, the question is, can it be done... and if so, how?
Thanks in advance to all who reply.
Not sure if I believe the story.
Probably with testpoint, with unlocktool, with chimera, with EFT dongle.
I've tried some methods the testpoint methods I tried all erase the data.
All other working methods are on youtube search for huawei frp without data loss and similar search strings, and click on Related videos.
Don't connect the Android to Internet to avoid security update.
Try the method with sim card with PIN however that may need a previous version security.
If there is important data wait some time and check youtube again however there are fake videos on there.
If it's too important probably someone can attack it through some method.
However if you have no good reason to attack this device better move on I do not believe the story with deceased relative and whatever is on the device maybe it's water under the bridge move forward. If not then it is a high cost in your time effort money patience better invested elsewhere.
Whatever the case not judging
