[Q] 3G Dongle after Taboonay Setup - Acer Iconia A500

Is there a way to revert back the changes made on my 3g dongle via putty? i done the changes successfully on taboonay thread on how to set up the 3g dongle and after that, my 3g dongle cannot be detected on pc. It was detected but cannot install the auto install drivers anymore. and when i open the program for 3g dongle to connect to network, it has an error related to COM port. It also doesn't show as removable drive in my computer.
Please help guys. I need your input. Thanks,

[Wireless modem] USB driver needs reinstall everytime I connect Universal to PC

Hi!
With the help of this forum and this thread in particular, I now am able to surf on the internet using my PC, Universal and UMTS.
The problem is that everytime I connect the Universal (having started the wireless modem application on it), the PC detects the Universal as a new HTC USB Modem and everytime I have to reinstall the USB modem drivers and reconfigure the connection.
Why?
I solved this one a few days later, it had to to with the fact that I have multiple USB ports on my PC and the drivers needs a reinstall each time you connect the Universal to a different USB port.

Problem with USB connections

Hi, I seem to be having some trouble trying to update to the latest 6.5 ROM. It says I have a "Error 260: USB Connection".
I also get the same error trying to flash to HardSPL, it says I should make sure it is synced, when it is. I also tried installing the "enablerapinew.cab", and another computer/another cable cord. All the same problems.
I think it may be because in my USB to PC menu, the option to "Enable Advanced Network Functionality" is ticked and grayed out. So I can't untick it.
I tried changing the driver in the registry to the USB Serial driver, but that didn't even sync.
If anyone can help, it would be greatly appreciated.

Hard reset if nothing else works.
Then you will know whether it is a hardware failure or software related.
I've seen anything from bent pins, lose USB on circuit board, bad cables, Vista vs XP....etc and the list goes on of possible causes for this issue.
Well it still charges and the phone still reads the storage card because i was able to flash it from the card but the computer will not recognize it as a USB device therefore activesync will not work and i cannot access the storage card when its in the phone
Reinstall ActiveSync...maybe...
Regards
Hi!

Connecting the TD2 with my PC does not do anything.
Its the same issue with my 2nd PC and othe cables.

SD-Rom flashing
Hi ya all,
Try to flash it from your SD card, have a look here: http://www.tomlenferink.nl/component/content/article/1-latest-news/77-windows-mobile-65.html
Don't forget for Windows XP you need Active Sync and for Windows Vista and 7 you need Windows Mobile Device Center.

I am lokking forward to solve the same problem. I have seen that deice with android 2.3.2 have the possibility to connect to internet through
the usb connection of the PC, so I was thinking to update my device (It has Android 2.2) to 2.3.2.
Do you think it is the only way to sove the problem? Thank you
Suggestions are welcome.
Your trying to connect your phone to the internet via the phones USB socket ? You could use a usb wifi adapter on the PC and set it up as a access point. I think Win7 has this built in or use ubuntu ?
Yes, I would like to connect my HTC Legend (android 2.2) to the internet via the usb socket without any wifi adapter. Phones with android 2.3.2 allow that (when you connect them to a PC you can choose that option), my doesn't.
I was wondering if there is any program allowing that or if I have to update my ROM to android 2.3.2.
Thank you for your suggestion. It can be useful anyway.
Sense 2.1 has internet passthrough via HTC Sync, but since I don't use the NewSense ROM, I personally use Connectify on my Windows 7 laptop.
Sent from my HTC Legend using XDA App

Using your phone as a modem (tethering)
Get online with your notebook or desktop computer at any time, using your phone’s data connection.
You need your SIM card inserted on your phone to use the data connection. To find out how to set up and use the data connection, see Data connection.
Before you can use your phone as a modem, be sure to copy first HTCDriver.exe from your phone’s microSD card to your computer. To find out how to copy, see Copying files to or from the storage card. Double-click this file and follow the onscreen instructions to install the modem driver on your computer.
Make sure your phone’s data connection is turned on. See Data connection to learn how to turn on the phone’s data connection.
Connect the phone to the computer using the provided USB cable.
On the Connect to PC screen, select Internet sharing, and then tap Done.

Just as nice additional information for anybody encountering this thread from a search: tethering works out of the box on Ubuntu 10.04 (Lucid Lynx).
but it doesn't work at all with ubuntu 10.10 it did work on 10.04, .. then i installed backports and it worked on 10.10 however ubuntu did an other kernel upgrade and it didn't work anymore.

[Q] Android does not support internet ?! o.O

hello, i got new problem, is there any chanse to use my PCs internet (it's not wireless!) on my android hd2 via USB cable ....
Yes, you can do reverse tethering (although I have never tried).
Reverse tethering works best, apparently, on ubuntu linux: http://blog.mycila.com/2010/06/reverse-usb-tethering-with-android-22.html
hey, thx for this, but i dont understand this, what is USB Tethering, setting the 'bridge' up, how to do this, can i have some ... 'details' pls )) .
Which step are you stuck on, and are you on linux?
well.... im not on Linux, im on Windows 7, anyway, i found out what is USBTethering, but when i check that (i have drivers installed from SDK) nothing heppens, i dont know what to do, i dont know how to 'bridge'
step 2:
Connect USB cable and activate USB Tethering. You should see on linux or windows a new network interface. ---> where the hell is 'new network interface' -.-

Hi,
Does your phone connect to pc when you plug in usb cable?
Does your pc have latest version of WMDC?
This contains the drivers for successful connection.
If (And only if) you're using a Desire HD rom then just plug in your USB cable, choose "Internet Pass-through", let windows install the drivers (W7), enjoy internet on your device.
But if you're using another rom, follow the other advices from our fine members
