FOR UNLOCKED BOOTLOADERS:

Steps:
1. Flash LT15i firmware .ftf via Flashtool.
2. Enter recovery by command: fastboot boot recoveryARC.img
A recovery menu will appear in your phone.
3. Sets scripts assets: ENABLED
4. Flash RootXperia.zip via recovery. You have to copy RootXperia.zip to the SD card previously.
5. Reboot device and it´s done. Now device is rooted.

First firmwares came with more ringtones, alarms. Here is a copy. You have to put the three folders (ringtones,alarms,notifications)replacing in system/media with rootexplorer:

It´s obvious. if you can flash this to a locked device, you can with an unlocked too.

The difference is:
LT15 xperia arc
LT18 xperia arc S
Yes LT18 firmware also works on LT15
I think the better is the one designed for your model
Any difference from the Generic Germany one that makes flashing this one worth, there isn't one, is it?

Thanks for your sharing!! Finally have someone release a generic world .42 firmware with a root method beside having to downgrade to 2.3.3. I flashed it last night and the batter life seem much better than the generic HK 368 firmware I used. May be my lt15a just don't like the HK firmware and baseband because I had poor battery life for that firmware but it was not happened to 2.3.3 generic world I used before the update. Now the the battery life go back to the excellent condition it was when I used generic world firmware for 2.3.3. I am not sure if it is just my phone or it is the generic hk rom.

thanks for rom, just flashed with flash tool and working fine also root was super duper easy just clicked the lock button on flash tool and volia D:

Register, download the two files needed (USB Flash Driver and WotanClient 3) and install them, and start WotanClient. The firmware flash will start after filling your data and downloading the files.

Pay attention. Wotan has specific files, different from Sony's. And, also, the `a` from LT15a means US, if I'm not wrong...

Update: We have received word from a trusted source on what is written above. We have been told that 4.0.2.D.0.4 firmware is definitely NOT Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. The ‘D’ in the firmware stands for branded firmware for NTT DoCoMo in Japan. The 3.0.1.B.0.285 firmware for the Xperia PLAY is related to AT&T and is NOT Android 2.3.6.

I believe it is not Docomo.
I am running 4.0.1.C.1.9 which is the latest Docomo firmware. The device states I have the latest available.
Wotan lists Docomo firmwares under model SO-01C, not Arc.
Flashed it, it's definitely Cellcom Israel.
Loaded w/bloatware, but most are just web shortcuts (600-700kb)

this should be the firmware that sony have released playstation suite for arc in japan (testing) if anyone has installed this and want to try see if the ps suite runs check out my thread here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1402731 if this firmware does not contain the apps inbuilt. On the older firmwares it installs but errors starting ps store or game, hope there is different playstation certified permissions in this update for making it work.

So much for my desire to revert back to gingerbread and root!!

Could you please tell how did you make it? I have SGP511 with currently installed stock 17.1.A.2.36 but no matter what I try with PC Companion it downloads me 17.1.1.A.0.402 files even in repair mode
I downloaded the firmware before the .402 was available for me. That's all.

Lucky you. I've bought Z2 couple of days ago, so .402 was already rolled out on the Sony servers.
Well.., will look for alternative approaches how to dump my stock .36 version.

The reason why is because the update hasn't been rolled out in your country yet. When a update is don't it takes a couple of weeks or even months to be worldwide

Did you install the drivers that come with flash tool? there's a drivers folder inside the flash tool and there is the installation file for the drivers... install the flash mode drivers, the fastboot drivers and the Z2 tablet drivers

The drivers are within the flash tool zip, extract the package and inside you will find a drivers subfolder
I flashed to this .ftf from 23.0.1.A.4.30 and my device will not turn on. Nor will it give vibration feedback when attempting to turn on. I tried volume down/power button. I tried the little red button next to sim card slot. Not sure what to do at this point...

There are not Small files and I went to bed last night. Updated the OP with some more firmwares
Just flashed global generic 93. Checked PC Companion for update and it states it doesn't have firmware for this device yet. As an FYI, this firmware has the stock android browser, I despise Chrome.

got my branded Z3 and instantly flashed the generic. Thanks alot for making this available that quick.
Hey, just picked up my Z3 its got all this O2 branded crap on it, and the boot animation is O2 also, I hate it. Do I need to root the phone or anything like that before I flash the UK generic one? Cheers!

No, you can flash any stock ROM with out problems.

Because I can't wait for the ftf of D6633, I found out that it can be downloaded using XperiFirm Downloader,my question is,the firmware has 4 files which I assume it's not flashable in FLASHTOOL,how can I flash those files?

System Dumps are for mod developers to use. You can actually modify it such that you can flash it as a flashable zip in TWRP.
But for simplicity sake for newcomers, I recommend you use Sony's PC Companion to update. It ensures that you don't get into much complications

There is no update for HK version. No PC Companion update currently.

Hello Xperia family. I have the HK Z3+. Would it be advisable to just flash MM from US or stick to HK? I already downloaded the US FTF and not sure what .ta files to exclude?
