Home button double clicking out of itself. - Galaxy S II General

My homebutton will sometimes double click when I just click once, which makes the carkit menu come up. This will happen like once a day. Anyway to resolve this?

mine kept doing this, drove me mad!i just disabled the button altogether , job done lol

Is there a fix beside that?

Same problem here. And i cant get it replaced where i live :-(

I had the same issue. Seems like the home button isnt the best built like the iPhone.
I had mine replaced by a whole new front panel (Included a new screen as well, which was good since I had 1 dead pixel)
Best bet is to get it replaced.

how's the new screen treating you? I need to get mine replaced because of blotches and lines, =(

The new screen is working just fine (knock on wood). Although its not as bright as my original screen at the same brightness level setting. But thats a very small marginal difference.

My home button is still doing this. Should I return my phone to get it replaced?..

Just figured out that I still had the plastic on the home button never knew it was there before because it is really hard to see. I but I peeled it off and my home button is a lot better now. I suggest anyone else having problems and doesn't realize it is there to peel it off.

Mine does this every once in a while, not enough for it to be a real problem though. The thing that's more annoying is when my back button double backs. I have to be real careful with it.

it really annoys me that you can't disable this 'feature'. Forced me to root to get rid of it.

left side of touchscreen unresponsive

I bought a used nexus S today. and surpringly i found that an area (vertical rectangle) on the left side of the screen is not sensitive at all.
The screen is totally unresponsive on this area. So can you please help and tell me if it's a hardware problem or not? (no warrantly as it is a used phone)

i have seen a problem very much like yours in other forum , in which , someone gave an answer and worked , but , i am not for if it is real or they were just bullshitting
get a lighter , you should have one if you smoke , take out that part which make fire , i dont know how exactly call it .
one way to identify it is what i want to say. if you put your finger over it , you should feel small electrical shock when you push the button
find that part , and shock the screen where unresponsive with it ...
don't ask me how is it works , i dont know ... you can either ignore me or take a shot...
good luck to you
....
you may not have warranty , but i think you can find some mobile shop to fix it , of course , you need to pay for it...

one thing i can tell you
in China , replace SLCD screen needs about 600 CNY , which means about 100 USD
SA creen nees about 900 CNY , about 150 USD ...

No he's talking about an electronic lighter.
No idea how safe it is to send a shock of current through the capacitive screen though, read up more before you attempt.

No you need to seperate digitizer from the screen. Risking breaking the screen. You can buy the digizteir and screen that is preassembled buy it's pricy.
.around 100 I think. Buy the digitizer and take it to the local shop its probably cheaper that way.

I have the same problem with the area by the backspace and "p" keys in portrait mode and along the status bar in landscape with the charging port to the right.
I went running with my phone in my waistband. Stupid I know. When I got home, my phone was soaked and the screen was 100% unresponsive and the colors would change intermittently.
I put it in a bowl of rice for a few days in a warm area of my apt, but it hasn't fully recovered two months later. You MAY consider removing the screen and checking for particulates or trapped water vapor. I've been meaning to, but haven't managed to get the tools yet.
I'd be interested to here about your solution if you find one.
Best of luck.

Permanent smudge on screen

I recently noticed a rather large smudge at the bottom of my screen
http://i.imgur.com/9lbMd.jpg
It does not go away no matter how much I wipe the screen.
Not sure if I caused this or if it came like that.
It is only noticeable when I use the device outside or shine light on it.
Does anyone else have anything like this?
I believe thats the oleophobic coating coming off. Have seen it a few times on here. Did you buy it from the play store or a retailer. Regardless they should let you swap it out for this issue. Use a screen protector on the new one.
It's the coating, it looks bad though. What have you been using to clean the screen? Cleaners with ammonia aren't good for the screen and if you're constantly using a sleeve it can wear through it as well.
Thanks, guys

those lines you see without the spots are just were the finger passed and cause some light refraction that doesn't enable to see spots in there but THEY ARE THERE ALSO! After you clean the tablet they are there also..
And when you clean your tablet you don't see no spots at all, only with a strong light pointed at it.. But the thing is.. the tablet can be like this from the factory/shop and you won't notice when you open the box.. just a few days later.. Be carefull with that..

theres was no chance to see the spots when unboxing.
I'm having the same problem. The spot will not go away with any amount cleaning but it's not annoying enough to replace.

If it is the protective coating coming off then aggressive cleaning would only make it worse over time. I would suggest getting a screen protector to try and prevent it from getting worse, it's a good idea to use one anyway.

MXPE quality - MotoMaker vs. Amazon vs. BestBuy

So I have read here and elsewhere that some of the common complaints about the MXPE are battery doesn't last long, yellow tint on the screen, 808 running hot, laggy screen response, jerky scrolling, etc.. Not saying these are really issues, just saying these are some of the things I've read about here or elsewhere.
I'm curious if these things appear to be equally common across MotoMaker, Amazon, and BestBuy sourced phones or if, for example, Motomaker phones are more prone to these issues.
In other words, are the chances of getting an MXPE 'with issues' any different with one that was pulled off the line for MotoMaker customization than with one that came from a large batch of the same configuration intended for Amazon or BestBuy?
Thoughts?
Thanks!
From the experiences I've read it seems like early motomaker editions were more likely to have a faulty speaker. That's about it.
you have to remember that most people come to the forums to complain rather than to praise.
My MXPE is perfect!
MotoMaker phone here. None of the above mentioned problems, and the only annoyances I have aren't really worth crying over.
1. If Moto Display isn't active, when pressing the lock button to wake the phone, sometimes there's this blue-ish glitch thing going on near the bottom of the screen for a fraction of a second.
2. The motor that controls the vibrating feels lose? I don't even know if that's an actual problem or not, just not used to it compared to other phones. Vibration feels different.
Amazon 32gb here. My only issue is slight light bleed in one spot and the occasional studder when scrolling from Google now back to a home screen. My battery is a tank (really good life), the phone runs cool, screen color is great.
^I can echo all aspects from above. When it's a dark room how much light bleed is reasonable? It comes from the lower left side.
I don't care much for customizization from Moto.
Picked up the 16GB from BB today, and pretty happy with it so far.
Got a total of 4 phones from Amazon, 3 of them had yellow tint screen..
Phones are black 16gb x2 and black 32gb x2

Got mine from Moto Maker with a really crappy display panel. Had a light white spot in the upper right quadrant and about three areas where light bleed was visible. I think you will find this across the board. It doesn't do Motorola any good to assemble custom devices for people that are faulty. You would think they would have better quality control, but they are Chinese owned now, and that usually means bad things to come. I am getting a replacement but I will be interested to see how much better it will be. If it is much better then time will tell how well it holds up and lasts. If it turns out that it doesn't hold up very well then it will be the last device I buy from Motorola. It's too bad because they used to be very rock solid. The Droid Razr that I have that is 4+ years old has less light bleed than this new Moto X Pure. My Galaxy S4 has none whatsoever, of course it's AMOLED. We will see how the next device turns out. If it sucks too, I will report back.
Have the same light white spot on the right upper corner also i got it from BesBuy 16gb Black

There was no light white spot when i first got it , it become apparent after the 14 days past. So i couldn't even go and exchange. So im gonna try to call Motorola see what they can do.

Wow that doesn't bode well. My worry is that I want to unlock the boot loader and root. I can just see Motorola trying to say that the unlock has caused the issue and refuse my claim. I know unlocking voids your warranty but I have heard from a few that Motorola will still accept the claim if it is a physical failure not related to software. I just don't trust it. If they burn me then I will never buy Moto again. I just hope I get a solid replacement device with no white spots and minimal light bleed. I would like a perfect display but at this price, it might not be possible. it seems some are lucky enough to receive one free of light bleed, but I think many more have moderate to serious light bleed. To me that is poor quality control on the part of Motorola(Lenovo). Should have my replacement buy Thursday and I will report back on it's quality.
Its doesn't show good in the camera but in real life its bothering.
Here one more maybe it shows better, the first one i had from best buy had a black dust stuck in between the screen and the gorilla glass right in the middle of the screen like a black dust not dead pixel.
To me that looks like the lcd is being pinched is it in a case?
No its not in the case, I think its being pinched also maybe there is a screw right on that spot, but i dont wanna open the back to see.

Not sure if you want to deal with Motorola and RMA but you might be able to get another phone...I had the same problem but mine was easily solvable. It was the case causing it, and that's getting replaced.
I would suggest asking for someone higher when on the phone and also try the Motorola forum and see if you can get some help there
Amazon 32 Gb here, aside from somewhat of a rattly volume toggle, no problems so far.

Mine was exactly the same so I think whatever is in that spot is pressing against the screen. I immediately contacted Motorola and initiated an RMA which worked perfectly. They sent me the RMA within one hour and I received a code to build a new phone about 45 minutes after that. I ordered the new one the same day I RMA'd the faulty one. Calling Moto is a PITA, they are Indian and some have heavy accents which makes it hard to understand them. Their headsets absolutely suck, they sound way too loud and their voice just sounds like a bunch of noise. I have resorted to using the chat instead and that pisses me off less. In any case I can't complain about the RMA process, it has gone well so far. My new phone should be here Wednesday. We will see how that one looks. Hopefully something in their manufacturing hasn't gone wrong causing these phones to have that spot. There was a few others on Reddit reporting the same problem and it's always the upper right quadrant.
I think its gonna be the same, they all are the same way manufacturing, i was at best buy today and i saw the display model had the same thing on the same side upper right white spot. Im guessing maybe the wanted to put the nitrification light there lol?

But you did get it early despite this flaw you found on your device.
You got to hold and experience this beast before millions of others did. That's something you'll always be able to say. So just wait it out for your replacement and try not to get too upset over it. You've already learned first hand what this phone is capable of.

Vibration during Charging on the back.

Today I noticed that when I charged my phone and it's lying with screen facing down it vibrates when I touch and move my finger on its back.
To reproduce this vibration- - -
While Charging your phone ,
put it on flat surface with it's screen facing down. Now touch and move your finger without breaking contact with the specified area.
Happened with OP3 too, that's to be expected when you have a metal case and no grounding - the charger has 2 prongs. The solution would be to ground the charger, but no phone manufacturer does that - it would make the charger bigger for no good reason - a few electrons on the phone surface during charging isn't a big deal.
This also happens with many ultrabooks, like the Asus Zenbook to give an example.
That happens with any notebook that has metallic case and power brick without grounding.
I didn't know that. And asked for replacement and pickup is scheduled for tommorow.
Does anyone know if all OnePlus 5 that have jelly effect,
have same kind of jelly effect or in some units it is stronger than other.
Giving the source of the effect (some extra calculations when rendering the image and refresh the screen) the effect should be present on each and every unit.
This is not really a defect, but more like a design consequence and each smartphone display has it to some extent (some display types/technologies might hide it better than others).
