[Q] Video Call with Nexus 4

Is 3G video calling applicable on Nexus 4G, I mean using dialer and not third party video calling apps like Skype

Yes. You can use Google plus or Google talk.

no
The current firmware doesn't support video calling.
It's an odd omission given wide network support for the feature.
Galaxy S2 and S3 support it. Even my old N95 supports it.
I was told that in the UK the O2 branded Nexus 4 does support video calling but I haven't been able to check. The Nexus 4 is rarer than rocking horse poo.
3g video call
I would like to know whether there is any dialer app or ROM available so that I can make video calls from my 3G network... I came to know that it is possible in S2, S3 and other phones. Even I did with my old phone nokia 3120 classic. Please help....
Crime - To with hold available technology from people
This is very strange. Even the old Samsung Galaxy SL with Gingerbread 2.3.6 video calling is possible in 3G. What can be done about it? The available technology is deliberately with held from people, it is a crime.

imo, if their nexus 4 supports video calling, and i doubt their n4 are any way different then ours, the only possible thing could be the fw/radio version of those devices.. however, it might be that besides fw, it may be the provider thing too, maybe not every provider gives 3G call support

[Q] Text messages breaking up

when i text my girlfriend the goodnight messgaes, you know like every good boyfriend does, she says that they break down into smaller messages and arent in order either so it takes her awhile to read them. The same goes on my end, her messgages are the same way. If anybody can help me please. She has a verizon iphone 4 and i have the at&t galaxy s4. I factory restored today and that didnt help anything.
Tell her its because its an iPhone.

My girlfriend and I are on the exact same phones and services with the same issue. It can take some time to make sense when a large messages comes through as 3 or 4 jumbled.
That's what I told her Yankee. And do you know how to fix it?

Speed test on AT&T network - T-Mobile (unlocked) V AT&T Note 3

I have the t mob version and it seems to work fine on attending but I would be interested to know if anyone has done a side by side test with an att version to see if they really do get same speed, same signal etc.
While devices are supposed to be the same, is it possible that the radio software may not be, I. E. specifically for the AT&T or the mobile network?
On my other AT&T devices the radios were updated from time to time by AT&T which is why I ask.
Anyone?
Update: I ran speed test on my T-Mobile note 3 on att versus an att Galaxy s4 a number of times. Download speed was about 50 per cent faster on the Note but Upload speed was consistently about 30 per cent of the s4. Anyone know why?

Sorry for sounding dumb. What do you mean radios were updated? Perhaps being a t mobile note 3 user on AT&T one would need to insert an active t mobile sim in for updates ?
Sent from my SM-N900T using Tapatalk 4
AT&T doesn't prioritize any device, just so you all know. If that was the case, you'd all be seeing 1mbps for LTE. I used an unbranded/International Galaxy S3 on AT&T and I got the same HSPA+ speeds as my AT&T S3. The phone will just show up as an unknown device.
I have both an ATT and a T-Mobile Note 3, and the speeds are essentially the same with the same sim card.
Using Att note 3 on Att network..

HD Voice on T-Mobile

I have the 98/33 radio with stock ROM and kernal running 4.4.4. I am rooted and have ro.ril.enable.amr.wideband=1 in my build prop. I went to a T-Mobile store and made a call from an S5 which has the HD indicator and it did not light up when I called or when I received a call.
I am at a loss as to if our nexus 4 is capable to have this work on T-Mobile.

sure. I get HD calls all the time, on my n4 and n5. it'll only happen if the other phone is connected to HD calling as well. when you called your phone from an s5, what didn't light up? the n4 doesn't have any kind of indicator, but you can hear the difference in quality.
What radio are u running? What are your settings? I verified with a phone S5 which has an HD indicator and it was not lit when I called it or received a call.

the .33/.84 hybrid radio(I use lte). no special settings, the lte apn. can the issue be on tmobiles end? you don't hear any difference(i mean it really is obvious when its connected)?
Why do u use the 84 hybrid and not some other? I heard the 98 was for kit Kat.

because i use my nexus 5 mostly. sometimes I'll use my n4 as a daily, but usually its the n5 as a daily and the n4 as a WiFi device. last week I used my n4 as my daily(phone) for a day and was getting slightly faster speeds on my n4 than my n5(64mbps download/21mbps upload). and I've never had an issue with the radio, so I keep using it. oh, and I'm using KitKat, 444(lichtis rastakat).

try using the lte APN, maybe it'll make a difference.
I've flashed the 84/33 modem and will test it out at a T-Mobile store that has a working S5. If the HD is working, the S5 indicator will show HD. That is the only way that I can verify if it is working.
SMS/MMS
I think the question should be who makes calls anymore
After going to a T-Mobile store which has a working HD indicator phone(S5), I can report that the nexus 4 does NOT support HD voice. I tried all of the radio combinations and the indicator would not work on the S5.
Unless there is a codec that can be installed, I don't believe our phone has the hardware to support this function.
I reserve the right to be wrong and hope someone can show me how and why I am!

just like I claim it does, so do they http://www.anandtech.com/show/6594/tmobile-announces-amrwb-hd-voice-calls-active-on-its-network
I placed a number of calls between T-Mobile users last night to try and gauge any perceptible difference. I've previously heard AMR-WB demos and run loopback calls on the Anritsu base station emulator, and there is a perceptible difference. I originated a call on a Nexus 4 and terminated it on a Nexus 4 with both on T-Mobile, which sounded excellent, and then between an iPhone 5 (attached to PCS WCDMA here in Las Vegas) and a Nexus 4, which also sounded very different than an AT&T AMR-NB originated and terminated call. I need to do more testing back home, but T-Mobile's claims that this is live right now and working seem credible, calls sounded crisp and much more intelligible than some of the AMR-NB calls I've been on.

I am basing my info on fact, not feeling. You need two working phones that support HD. The S5 displays if HD is working. It did not display when I tried all radio combos. I also tried the sine wave on some of the radios with nothing to report. If someone can report that the 2nd device they are testing has an HD indicator, and it does work, we can have a conversation.

maybe the s5 can't tell if its connected to a HD call with a nexus? I have a s4 as well as a n5. Samsung has some really crappy software for sure.
One of the reps in the store had an IPhone 5S and and it worked, so the only other reliable test is the sine wave.

I think T-Mobile US needs sipXtapi for HD voice.

All of this talk about HD, now I want to try it out too :fingers-crossed: even though I hardly make phone calls anymore...
Just like the whole 4K TV craze and 1440 x 2560 display resolution on phones...

Nexus 4 does not support HD Voice in hardware. It had a software support for HD Voice till 4.3 , then it was droped.
So, unfortunately, you will get no HD Voice on Nexus 4 with kitkat.
According to anandtech nexus 4 supports hd voice however it isn't on the T-Mobile whitelist. The nexus 5 however is.
From the link:
" I’m actually very impressed with how well the Nexus 5 performed at rejecting noise using the normal babble distractor track I use. In addition this was a T-Mobile AMR-WB “HD Voice” call between two Nexus 5s, illustrating that the Nexus 5 is indeed in the T-Mobile whitelist for HD Voice.
As an aside, the Nexus 4 oddly enough still hasn’t been green lit for HD Voice on T-Mobile, and given its age probably never will at this point, although the hardware is entirely capable."

I remember having this working a long ass time ago, (working with N4 to N4 calls) and some kind of upgrade killed it and it hasn't worked since. I'm now testing with N4 to N5, and can't get it to work. I can test the N5 with other phones and it sounds clear as day different, but the N4 just doesn't work.
I've tried flashing these custom radios on my stock 4.4.4, even modded the build.prop, yet I can't get the thing to work. Anybody else able to get it working?

HD Calling?

Is there an option anywhere in the phone for this? The Sprint FAQ, circa 2014, says that you can only HD call to other Sprint customers. Does it work like Verizon where you have to be on LTE? Do I have to add a service/enable it?
Just got the Galaxy S7 Edge with Sprint, switched to their 50% off from Verizon and had them buy me out of my S6 Edge. Quite pleased so far.
I never heard of or used HD calling before but I called my S6 (sprint) a couple of days ago, it showed in the call log that it was an HD call and it only shows that symbol when I call people with Sprint. I think its enabled by default.
It enables automatically if the other sprint customer has an HD enabled phone. Note 3 and up I believe have it. It will say in the call log if it's hd or not. U can hear a clear difference in quality over standard.

Thanks. Yeah when I used it on Verizon it was much more clear, you can definitely tell when it's on. The reason I asked was Verizon S6 had options to turn it on and worked with any carrier with a supporting phone. Oh well, not a big deal.

I have an S7E i just got and I can't seem to get HD to work at all? can anyone with same phone confirm it's working still after that last big update a few weeks back?
Is it tied to an app?
My old rooted S5 that had a different firmware even worked fine in HD but not this.
I did uninstall and disable a few things on this.
I'm calling people whom I know have working HD because they see in call log when they call others with it but not with me and I don't see on my phone either.
Just wondering if some hidden setting or something isn't right or if any way to test?
If you enable WiFi calling it will break HD calling. The only way to get it back is a factory reset
Sent from my SM-G930P using Tapatalk
I think the latest update fixes that. I see mine now attempting HD before a call.
