What do you use as a power adapter if you are in the U.S.A ? - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 General

Since the unlocked Galaxy Note is an import, its power supply cannot be used in the U.S.A.
What do you use as a reliable converter to use with this phone if you are in the U.S.A ?
Also, where do I buy the car charger for the Galaxy Note?

you just need a convertor , if u r using the default charger.
Something like this . http://www.amazon.com/International-plug-adaptor-European-USA/dp/B000TEPM64
They are very cheap and easily available every where
However u can just use any usb charger and use the data cable.

I just wanted to show the pic.

I'm pretty sure most people will have a 5V Micro USB charger already.

that item is not a converter
please note that item is not a converter. it is an adapator for a converter or device which has both voltage settings built in. in order to use the charger, in the usa, that comes with the phone out of the box you need a converter.
the voltage in the us uses 110 and europian standard is 220. something like that. i plan on using the charger from my captivate.

Can someone that has a note look at the charger and see what ampage it is.
Thanks

I'm pretty sure the last two Galaxy phones I purchased had a charger with two pins for the US and a slot in adapter with 3 pins for UK.
The charger should be able to regulate the voltage from 110 to 240 and vice versa.
So for US use don't use the 3 pin adapter.

I'm not an expert but wouldn't it just work if you had any microusb charger bought in the US?

That is exactly what I am saying... The phone itself will be able to handle both 110v & 240v. It's the charger itself which regulates power.

Galaxy Note without original charger

Hello to everyone!
I have one simple question: do I risk something if I charge the Note with another charger than the original one?
I don-t know, but I think no.
I charged many time my note with htc charger and gs2 charger.

I almosr never use the original charger. I use the charger that came with the bluetooth headset and everything is fine
It doesn't matter what kind of charger you have. The only thing you must look at is the voltage of the source (5V DC) and it must be a micro usb plug

im using my old htc hd2 charger as the samsung one seems to have packed up and isnt charging properly
The easiest way to charge your Note is of course via a USB>Micro USB cord plugged into a laptop or PC (where you are guaranteed the voltage is correct), however if you are using a generic or knock off wall wart charger than provides a micro USB connector there is some small chance that it will not charge your Note.. look for the charging icon and if its not charging, toss the charger and get another.
There is no specific risk to the device, provided that it (the charger) has a micro-usb intended for charging generic devices..its just that some modern portable devices have a stricter requirement (tighter tolerance) for charging voltage and simply will not charge outside that voltage range.. my BB9930 does exactly this..

Since all micro/mini usb chargers have the same voltage, and vary only in the power output - the only problem you could face is slow charging, or no charging at all if the charger doesn't have enough juice. But it certainly won't harm the phone.
I'm using my old Nokia N900 charger without problems
I'm using an old HTC mains-to-USB and a Nokia microUSB cable...
My stock charger has a slight squeal, so I usually use the charger for my BB Curve 9300. Does totally fine.
My Note was purchased from expansys UK but shipped in from mainland Europe. As it was to be sold in the UK, expansys had to supply a UK adapter rather than an EU one ...I received an HTC adapter with my phone. At first, I was worried, but discovered that it works beautifully with my Note. Charges faster than generic Samsung chargers too! You should be fine using another standard charger

For the first 3 weeks I was using a blackberry (original) Bold II charger.
I noticed charge time was too long. And maybe even battery life was shorter.
Im not 100% sure about the second statement but the first is confirmed.
When I started using the Note charger it was faster. Not super fast compared to iPhone or iPad but faster than using the Bold charger.
I never use my samy charger..Im using my DHD charger..no problem at all..

HTC and Nokia dont work. Can't charge and no data connection.... I only can charge and data connect with the samsung and the sony ericsson microusb cables. I cant understand!!!
(the nokia cable also cant work with hd2!!)
microusb is an standard???
HTC minijack stereo earphone dont work with samsung, also dont work the nokia earphone...
minijack stereo is an standard???

Most modern USB chargers should be fine (I use my old iPhone charger for the Note, for example.) Watch the power output though - some tablet chargers are rated at 2A+ and that could overdrive your charging circuit and cause damage. If you make sure your charger is about 1A (and 5V, obviously) then you should be fine.

Well emuX said it all!
1A of output and 5V and you are fine!
Actually the charging current is limited by internal resistance of the battery, so the battery effectively "accepts" charge. Charging current is not "pushed" in by the charger...
obviously a charger from say a BB is likely to be current limited and so longer charging times would be expected, but an iPad charger will work fine.

I wouldnt worry too much, I charge my note with my iPhone charger purely because the USB port faces a different way so I can actually fit it on my plug extensions without loseing 2 sockets.
Pretty much anything with an output of 5Vdc and a minimum of 1A will do just fine.

Question about charger

So guys today I finally got Nexus 4 and all I can say phone owns :good:
Now after few first hours of usage I want to charge it and then I realizes that charge is meant to be for USA... ( example how it looks goo.gl/d4r1LZ ) Then after few mins of searching house I remember I have something like changer from usa to eu -
So now my questions are 1. would that be safe to use (check picture) I simple dont get how all that change from US adapter to EU works...
2. I have old Samsung l5800 charger would that be better solution ?
Maybe this post will sound stupid but I dont want to mess up my N4 battery
Thanks
Have a look at the input voltage on the charger. If it says 100V - 240V (which it probably does, my Australian charger does) then you can use the adaptor no problem. Any other USB charger should also get the job done as long as it's not some cheap knock-off brand.

Can I use my Tomtom USB car charger for my Samsung xcover 2 ?

Hello
I wonder if I can use my Tomtom USB car charger, which delivers 5V 1,2 A, for charging of my Samsung Xcover2, wich has a 1700 mAh cell, and whose wall charger delivers 5V A.
Was do electronics specialists think about this difference (1,2 A vs 1 A) :
- is it about the same for charching my phone ?
- will it charge slower or faster, but with zero risk of damaging it ?
- should I avoid using it because it could damage my phone, and only charge the phone with a USB car charger that delivers 1 A ? I have already ordered a genuine Samsung USB car charger, but on hollidays it would be convenient to carry only one car charger, as USB cables can easily be switched between the mini USB output for Tomtom GPS and the micro USB for the Samsung S7710...
Thank you for your advice

You can use this charger if the Volt are the same.
The Mobilephone internal would say how much Ampere to take From the charger and put in the Akku.
It could also have 2A like mine...
Yes it would be Faster... the more empty the Akku is the more Amp it would take up... if the usbcarger can bring it!
Yes, of course you can use it. Consider that you can use it even as mp3 player while charging your smartphone. You have to accept usb communication that is being aske at the first moment you connect the decice to the usb port.
I tried it by myself and it works great.

Using a Type A to type C cable?

I have a weird question that I've tried to search on here and on google but maybe I'm just wording it wrong!? But basically I need a longer cable. I would like to get a Type A to Type C cable and take advantage of the many fast/regular charging ports I have at home. However I'm worried about ruining the device's battery in the long run. I know nothing about chargers and all that so I could just be paranoid? Let me know what u guys think
Basically to sum it up, I'm wondering can i use the fast charging block I got from the nexus 6? I know what cables work but I'm wondering mostly about the charging block end of it
I don't know if USB A/3.1 cables are rated for 3+ amps. I've used a 2 amp charger with a usb A/3.1 cable to USB C and it worked fine, but don't have a 3 amp USB A wallwort or USB C to A extender to try with the one that comes with the nexus.

Wouldn't the 3 amp be pointless as the phone only has charging 2.0? I could be way off with that statement by the way lol
I've got this A to C cable, and I love it: http://www.amazon.com/Charger-iOrange-E-Reversible-Connector-ChromeBook/dp/B010VFFRCE
2m is a good length for me, and it works really well with my turbo charger from my Droid Turbo.
As far as a C to C that you can use with the charging brick that came with the 6P, this one would probably do the trick: http://www.amazon.com/TouchTonic-US...qid=1449102918&sr=8-1&keywords=usb+c+cable+2m

Well the wall charger that comes with your nexus 6P outputs 3 amps.
And it does charge the phone a bit faster in my experience, than a 2 amp one does. I assume if the AtoC cable you got passes the tests and actually meets usb C spec it'll work fine with 3 amps though.

The 6p stock charger is rated 5 volts at 3 amps. So yea the phone was designed to utilize 3 amp current.
Source: I'm an electrical engineer.
Just to check, if I needed to a very long cord to charge with (I am happy to sacrifice fast charging for a longer cable) would using a regular charger (http://www.amazon.com/Cygnett-CY0355POGUS-Groove-Charger-Smartphones/dp/B00DMJ9U66/) with a USB-A Extension cable (http://www.amazon.com/Belkin-Pro-USB-Extension-Cable/dp/B0002Y6CYM/) and then a USB A-C cable (http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00WJSPFOW/) be good or would that harm things?
Basically the Extension would plug into the wall charger and then the USB A-C cable goes from the Extension cable to the phone.

It has USB 2.0, which refers to data transfer speeds, which is a separate thing from the 3A charging.

Get an inverter if your vehicle doesn't have an a/c outlet, and use the Samsung 45w adapter.
What I did was to use the power bank to charge the phone, meantime using car charger to charge the bank

is that quickcharge?
any 15w quick charger/ pd charger should easily be able to go 'positive' charge with gps and bluetooth on .
so any recomended one that will do the job?
I use this as it does charge at 18w

I need this as my Honda S2000 doesn't have a BT radio so I use this to broadcast. Plus I use one of the USB-A ports to plug in my wireless KENU vent mount charger as well. It's been a great device. If you don't need the radio option then get an AUKEY PD 2.0 car charger, I have 2 or 3 of them because they are so good.

I do not measure, but if you use red usb port, than really quick charging. My previous charger was 10W and if compare than this is much more quicker.

I can't say for sure because they just takes me to a sign in page I can't dismiss, but it's hard to imagine any inverter that couldn't handle the job. Just look at the watts rating on the inverter and make sure it's greater that 15.. at least 25 probably. Also, that inverter says 220v so if it isn't switchable to 120 make sure the adapter runs on 220 as well.

Totally correct in both points! The only point in using an inverter, especially if you didn't already have one, would be to enable using the 25w or 45w adapters, which aren't available as car chargers yet.
