Pardon me for borrowing the thread, but it is in the same purpose. I´m taking my leave soon aswell, waiting for the galaxy nexus to release, so one more month of X10 then there will never again be a Sony Ericsson phone for me (since sony is buying ericsson out of the company) I to want to thank all the devs here making wonders with out beauty and fighting for us making SE release an official 2.3 in the end. It´s been a rollercoster and it´s been fun cheers, hope to see you peps and devs in the galaxy nexus forums in a near future!

X10 getting 2.3, x8 and mini still stuck on 2.1 with no plans to update

Looks like all the QQ did some good. For x10 owners at least.
http://blogs.sonyericsson.com/products/¸
P.S. Probably has something to do with the x10 bootloader being bypassed and the good progress devs are having with loading custom kernels.
yes i think also SE is scared about loosing conrtol about there own devices. So they want to bind us again to themselfe.
Yeah,we already know that
nope we already got 2.3..through xda dev
Meh! Again we are left high and dry.We didn't get dual touch update either and now this too.
Why can't we get both x10 and x8 ,2.3, because SE doesn't have resources. And here we have J providing gingerbread to entire xperia series with help of some devs!
Sent from my X8 using XDA App
Will you upgrade the XperiaTM X10 mini, mini pro and XperiaTM X8 to 2.3?
No, we have no such plans. We have had to prioritize our resources and have therefore focused on delivering the upgrade to XperiaTM X10.

They have to prioritize their team to provide 2.3 for only X10. While most work to bring CM7 to X10/X10mini/X8 has been done by only 2 devs: jerpelea and racht. Such a shame to SE.
What a ****ty news, I feel like smashing my phone in S.E. face... hope no S.E. worker gets in my sight cause I am mad as hell! I mean come on, I was ok with the 2.1 on all current xperia line but this ? WTF is with this discrimination, F*** THEM!
Wait, xperia line was always updated together and new cerficated update was relased on 23 of march for x8.
Please sony update x8 and x10 minis too.
if they won't update x8 to 2.3 or 2.2, i won't buy another SE phone !!! never !!! and i think that i'm not the only one

I love my X8 but...
Don't get me wrong, I love my X8. However this is the first, and last, time I shall ever buy a Sony phone. I only bought mine last December, after a big Christmas marketing push by Vodafone here in Portugal. Imagine my dismay (and disgust!) to discover, after less than a month, that Sony already considered the phone obsolete before I'd even bought it :-(
Oh well. Live and learn I suppose (but it also makes me much less likely to buy anything Sony in the future...)
Rendering my x8 obsolete after only 4 months after seeing 1 proper update (1.6 --> 2.1)... not good.
Was planning to upgrade to Xperia Play, but I no longer trust SonyEricsson and have given up all plans of buying any of their products again.
That being said, XDA makes the x8 a very decent little phone. But still the XDA devs are fighting an up-hill struggle against the lockdowns imposed by SE. Thank you XDA, screw you SonyEricsson

on sonyericsson lauch blog writes no plain, not we will not upgrade x8 and minis just no plain
the real idea is to bypass bootloader so sony ericsson will update x8
Well mates, I think it's time to make some noise in SE blogs, this is not only a discrimination, this feels like your older brother was given by it's mother a bigger and better toy to play with, and we, the younger sons, can play with lego for eternity. Ah... This is a lack of respect, lack of sense, we do not only need that upgrade, we need recon. We are costumers, we spent our money buying the phones, we are SE future, our opinions and thoughts will count in next sales. We can't just be left behind, I know SE certified some firmwares recently, but, if they were thinking to upgrade us, they would have done it now at same time as X10.
Well it seems this is a way too give further security to bootloader, and remove kexec exploit. There's no downgrading after this. It's a terrible choice (my thought). So, we (x8,x10mini/pro owners) don't really need this upgrade since we have J & racht & so many great developers contributing, and I have so much to thank them for the hard work, precious time they take to do it, and for sharing it with XDA community, well I can say, with all users around the world. We are very near to reach total freedom.
Regards
That are not full working roms

Me too but worst is that their profit fall 20% from 2010 and they are so bad to custumers, realy and one more thing why they put so expensive phones in sale,x8 and minis will sell better with better support because they cheap but for 100 $ more i will buy htc wildfire.

Sony want this upgrade, and maybe this software update will also bring an bootloader upgrade, which will give us no chance of Xrecovery or Root, So, i stay with XDA

Appreciation of devs

I finally made the decision to buy an arc. Wasn't easy to stop using my x10, tbh, and I still can't bear to sell it. This post is just a thankyou to everybody who made the x10 what it is, i.e. J, Z, WB, Trip, rdannar, kx hawkins, cobrato, rendeiro et al. Only J is properly deving atm with CM7 though the phone is pretty awesome now it's rooted, but I am missing the Rom options... Once again thank you.

I think buying Arc now is not good idea. x10 still rocks. Better wait for next generation device (2 cores maybe?)

So do I.
Arc is nice... but why ? Whats the benefit to a X10i ? Android 2.3.3 ? The Exmor R Sensor isn't ! Adreno 205 ? isnt that much better, and not all people play all day long. ^^ And besides... X10 looks way better than Arc! i just don't like the shape of the buttons....
Thanks a lot to all the Developers who improved the X10i until now, and i hope your gonna make a better 2.3 with custom kernel when its out!

Yeah, too much is going on in the Android scene...
I decided to wait one more year, get the most of my X10 and then move on!
Ditto. Unless my x10 breaks i'll keep it for as long as i can. I've considered a xperia play though, because buttons are essencial for games imo, but maybe i'll wait for the xplay 2.
Edit: many thanks for all devs for tapping on the potential of the x10 and making it better.

Goodbye X10 (sorta)

After spending 2 years with my beloved X10 and countless number of flashes, I've decided to move on. The X10 will always have a special place in my heart as my first Android experience. An experience so profound that I converted my entire family from iOS to Android. All of us rocking X10's of course. I also had a hand in converting several other friends as well, all with X10's. Although I am leaving the X10 community since its no longer my main device, I will be back since my daughters and friends are still looking to me for support. Best of luck to you all and happy modding!

Farewell Xperia X8`

Hey guys! Merry Christmas!
Its been a full year since me and my partner here met you guys! Xperia X8 is my first android phone, At first i was contented with everything, then i wanted more. I became greedy, I sought knowledge that was never meant to be. I was defying the will of Sony Ericsson. I rooted my X8, installed my first recovery then flashed a new rom. It felt like heaven, having a better android version and theming it all i want. But not all stories go on great. I experienced bricking my phone, i panicked. I didnt know what to do, my warranty was void, then i thought "Maybe XDA Devs can help me". And it was true, i posted in the forums and got a fast reply. I was astonished by how the members here are helping each other. I got my phone working again. I am at loss for the things happening in this forum. Almost every week there come a new rom or update. I was happy, for every addition to the X8 roms here. But lately i dont feel like its the same anymore. I feel like that X8 has reached its peak, maybe its time for me to move on.
So i was thinking which phone would you prefer buying after you Xperienced android with Xperia X8.
Ive got to options. Xperia Neo V or Xperia Mini Pro
which would you prefer.
Please feel free to give your opinion.
I am very thankful for the people here, devs or not. Thank you all farewell. I will never forget this lively forum!
More power to the devs here! Specially Doxianh, Master Shpit, Froggy Furnetal and more. Rock on \m/

I bought mine just ~6months ago. got damn I made a bad decition but I keep reminding myself its my first android ever. Since my contract is made for 2years I'm stuck on this phone. I was thinking of getting a transformer rather than a new phone
Well,i have the same choices in mind,Neo V or Mini Pro???Neo V has a bigger screen and front camera, and Mini pro the keyboard, its the only difference???
I will go for Neo V, much better than xperia mini pro in my opinion

yeah thats true, i would go for Samsung Galaxy Nexus or Samsung Galaxy SII.
But the review indicate that SII is better, however I will go for Galaxy Nexus as it is far more likely to get more android updates when compared to Galaxy SII. Google is good in giving updates for nexus phones while you can see that Samsung don't even give much updates, even for some of the good phones.

I'm waiting for my GN too but here's what I've read as I've been following the GN forums for some time now. There are two GN builds, the yakju, which is the Google build and it is an original Nexus, and the yakjuwv build, which is Samsung's build and still hasn't got the 4.0.2 and 4.0.3 update!
HOW DARE THEY BREAK THE NEXUS LEGACY???!!!
I want a Galaxy Nexus!
im waiting for my contract to finish then i will see what phone my carrier will offer me, i hope it is a htc or some good phone
My contract ends next summer.
Then, I´ll look for a better provider (my current one still offers the X8 and doesn´t even offer the S2/Galaxy Nexus/HTC Sensation and all the other high-end devices.
I also think that my next phone will probably be a quad-core phone, I´ve read somewhere that HTC will maybe make one next year.

Guys, if you are on a contract you can still change your phone.. You just have to use the same sim card. Most people don't change their number/operator for years so it's no big deal.. If you buy a new phone again from your operator you won't have 2 contracts, they will update your current one. It works like this in my country at least..

I will vote for NEO V, its better than Mini Pro.
If you think that a cell phone is only a machine for you which must perform good then can go for Samsung/ Moto/LG any thing with better specs. For me a cell is much more than a machine. So I will stick to SE in-spite of their disadvantages.
Look and style also matters.

Goodbye my X10 friends!

hello everyone...
hope u all are doing great!
as most of u must have realized, recently i am not very active in the X10 device sub-forums... i love this community as X10 was my first true smartphone and this device community has been amazing in all aspects! its like a family... we all have gone thru a LOT, the exciting times of bootloader bypass kernels, GB on X10, hacked bootloader, etc all the drama with delayed updates, Mr Trip, Mr Anderson and the sheer disappointments thanks to SE ... it was a GREAT time for me, as i made many new friends and learnt a lot about android... when i got my X10 i had no clue about android but i learnt stuff thanks to the wonderful ppl of our X10 community...
anyways, i have finally decided to stop my development work on Xperia X10... if anyone is interested in carrying on with my projects feel free to contact me via P.M.... most of the sources i have used (kernel, recovery) are posted at my github account: https://github.com/DooMLoRD
dont worry i am not leaving XDA anytime soon (atleast not in the next 4-5 months)... i am/was actively involved in development for Xperia ARC, PLAY and contribute to development in lots of other device sub-forums... BTW i plan to buy the Sony Xperia S or ION and HTC Zeta or Edge... so if any of u are getting those device then u can find me there soon (once i get those devices)
so this is a goodbye to all my X10 friends, i hope to see u guys around XDA/other places...
here is wishing all of u guys best of luck for u future, may u all have a wonderful and happy life!!!
warm regards,
Rahul (a.k.a. DooMLoRD)
Thank you so much Rahul for everything you have done. You have mentioned it yet what a "special" device the X10 is. So your relentless input and selfless work was so much more important than on other devices imo. You were really sent from heaven, man
But awesome that you mentioned the Xperia S and HTC Ville because when nothing spectacular will happen at MWC one of it will be my new device, too.
Glad to know that there will be at least one kickass dev
I hope you forgive me this offtopic question. But since you have learned so much about developing for Sony devices do you think the Snapdragon S3 in the Xperia S will be future proof? Or do you think that the HTC Ville with its S4 chip will be much better not just in battery consumption but in power as well?
Thanks for everything,
Matt
Thank you for all your hard work and dedication!
Sad to see you go but your work will not be forgotten!

Snapdragon S4 will be the best solution between the two, but the actual devices may be released/will reach market in second half of the year (june-july 2012) may be even later... thats why i will be buying both the Xperia S & HTC Ville... Xperia S to keep me busy till the S4 chips are released

Nypon is from what I have heard targeted at mid-high end segment...
Novathor will be an interesting platform, but I personally prefer Qualcomm Snapdragon platform, raw powerful CPU core... NovaThor has a good selection of gpu core, though not sure how powerfully r the CPU cores... I am more interested in what the A9600 chips have to offer (next gen novathor)...

DooMLoRD)

Bye Bye
I'll see you soon
Thanks for all of your hard work, it's very much appreciated. You contributed to making my phone feel like a smartphone and not a piece of **** slow as crap 10 year old phone.
QUick Q: Will you still support the Xperia Play? I'm using your amazing Kernels on it and I would hate to see support for the Play get even worse

That's great to hear
Stages of griefooMLoRD Bye to X10 friends
SHOCK!: No it can't be happening. I don't believe it!
ANGER!: You can't be doing this to us. "You too Brutus?"
ACCEPTANCE: The X10 has to go someday; with the brilliant and great developers associated with it on its XDA forum.
RESOLUTION: I finally got me an Samsung Galaxy SII and impatiently waiting for an "ice cream" treat.
DooMLoRD thanks for EVERYTHING that contributed to make the X10 still a great torchbearer for android phones. SE (now SONY) will be foolish not to invite your expertise.
I see you are never going to change your forum name but to me you will remain HoPELoRD
I've been a little inactive lately, but that's because my HTC Sensation has been taking up my time
Thanks for all your hard work DooMLoRD. Just to reiterate what LJE said, you are one of the people here that everyone sincerely liked and respected. Good luck with your next project.
