Verizon really treated me solid today - Droid Incredible General

Kind of a long read, but here it goes. So last Thursday, for the simple fact that I'm mentally retarded at times I think, I crushed the screen of my Incredible. Since this was the third claim I'd had on my insurance in 3 years, it was dropped and I was well beyond warranty so basically I was left without a phone. I activated an old RAZR just to get me by which, unbeknownst to me, immediately dropped my data plan (grandfathered unlimited). Crap. I scrambled and called VZW customer service only to be told "too bad, so sad" for the most part, well I decided to say screw it and just use the RAZR until the Nexus drops instead of using my upgrade on a phone I didn't really want right now.
Fast forward to Tuesday, I get a call from a VZW CS representative who is doing a follow up (read trying to get me to put the $30 data plan back on before they lost the chance at it) who tells me that, so long as I put a smartphone back on before my next bill (the 30th) they can put the unlimited back on. So starts the decision making process, I really wanted this plan and honestly was going to just use my upgrade for an IP4S (only after hours of scouting CL for a cheap Android and coming up empty) and then sell that when the Nexus dropped and buy the Nexus outright.
Well I went to my local store today and talked over this plan with my rep as well as a few other ideas (such as buying a phone I didn't care about at BB and using their 30 day return window assuming the Nexus drops in the next 30), he tells me to hold on just a second and that he has an idea. Goes to the back, finds an old display Continuum that they are about to return, hands it to me and tells me so long as I give him the sale when the Nexus drops, I can just use the Continuum until then. I was honestly dumbfounded, in all my dealings with VZW (believe me, there's been a lot) they had always done what was right to me in the end, but not without hassle and certainly not by going out of their way for me, so this action really caught me off guard. Talk about earning a customer for life, short of something extraordinarily dramatic in the future, they have me forever. Just thought I'd share this positive story since most aren't that great in the end.
AS far as the Continuum goes, it's honestly surprised the heck out of me. It's still on Eclair because the whole 12 people that actually bought the phone wasn't enough to warrant an upgrade LOL, but it's smooth and extremely responsive honestly for having only 384 MB of RAM (I believe, I don't think it was given the 512 found in the other Galaxy S variants). Far more so than my Incredible was on anything but Gingersense stock and the camera is absolutely in another league despite the 3MP deficit. The ticker display is gimmicky for anything other than music play as far as I'm concerned and I would rather have the extra screen real estate, but other than that I'm extremely pleased with the phone.

That's awesome. I've always had a fantastic time with Verizon too. I love the Big Red. They are awesome. Also, anyone out there will to give up there upgrade so I can get a Galaxy Nexus?

thats awesome man. when/if i get a job for big red, thats how im gonna treat all my customers!

Sounds like you found a good one. We have had a great experience at our Verizon store, but frankly most of the employees suck. You usually tell the ones that won't be very helpful.
Last week I went in and the lady did not even know if they had any android phones with a keyboard. I asked if she knew about any of the new phones coming out and she only knew about the iphone 4s.
I believe they make commission so I don't know why they can be so indifferent.

That was 100% what drove my rep to be so helpful, but at that point, I had no care as far as his ulterior motives were concerned lol, I just wanted my unlimited data back.

That's awesome

You can buy a replacement screen on amazon for about $30. I've replaced mine twice.

Anyone else think the Inc is dying?

So, im just wondering, does anyone else think the Incredible is dying? I was at Verizon yesterday (black friday) and the reps didnt even show customers the incredible, nor did anyone look at it. And there were about a good 20 customers who walked in the store and looked at the Droid section while I was there. Verizon doesnt really market the Incredible either. The only place where the Inc is alive is in the forums.
Forums are showing down the past month or so.. I dunno, like any phone product, it has it's 6-9 months of fame.
It may still have a legacy like G1 or N1..
I do not think so....It is still a solid device and those who know about it will find it. I do not see it going out but I do see that there is a FLOOD of devices on the market that the consumers are just overwhelmed with what to buy and which device is right. For my mother, this would be too much to process...
Let me add this I knew all about the DINC before I ever with the VZW to play with one and the knowledge of the salesman trying to tell me about the device was awful. If I had based my first experience on buying the device from him I would have walked away from the DINC. The salesman have a big play in it to know the devices and then know how to determine what the buyers wants & then find the right devices to show....other than pushing the newer devices that are now on the floor....
My two cents
The biggest problem with the DINC is the battery life and originally availability due to AMOLED screens. I think the Droid X and Fasicinate took over for the DINC. I do like the phone but when you are up against SAMOLED and the battery life of Moto devices it is a tough sell.
After trying the droid 2 global for about a week it got returned for a dinc. Out of all the phones verizon offers this device is my favorite by far. It will have a long life albeit not a very hyped one.
Yeah, I mean I love it (the batter life and my battery door squeaking for no reason kind if ticks me off though ), but u almost want to get the original Droid (love cyanogen) for the build quality. I don't even care about the keyboard. But yeah, It sucks because the only HTC device anyone knows about is the evo. They really should really launch the Inc.

True, battery life kinda sucks, so get a bigger battery. But how many other phones are there out there with all of these ROM choices? Aren't the new phones coming out with locked bootloaders? When will the era of "s-off" Smartphones end? Personally, I think Verizon has seen enough, and they are going to put a stop to ROM hacking & flashing. Perhaps they have gotten smart about replacing bricked phones. If so, the Droid Incredible will be one of the last really decent hackable phones. Oh sure, you may be able to "root" your new phones, but just try to hack an ENCRYPTED bootloader sometime...so that you can flash your own ROM. I think the days of ROM flashing are coming to an end. That's why the Droid Incredible (with s-off) is never going to die.
Well that's what I mean, in xda and in the forums I think the incredible has a long time to go. But in the consumers mind, I feel like its a gonner. Which is a shame.
And if they keep locking boot loaders I might have to switch to webOS, if Palm is still alive by then.

Correct me if I am wrong, but, wasn't there a law passed recently that allowed consumers who purchased a phone the right to root/unlock/jailbreak it without voiding the warranty? I thought I read this somewhere but I may be mistaken. Also, I think it's a crime that we can't do what we want to the phones WE PURCHASED! If I'm paying $200 for the phone plus well over $100/month to use MY phone I should be able to root it if I want. Also, I'm not even rooted yet so I'm not biased by any means. I just think if you buy something it's yours and you should be able to do whatever you want with it.

The problem with tampering with it is obvious, people brick their phones. this of course causes verizon problems which is why they void the warranty. verizon shouldn't have to replace a phone for you because you messed with settings capable of rendering your phone useless. i'm rooted and all but that is just my opinion on it. you can do whatever you want but they aren't responsible for you messing up your own phone.
The law says that you have the rights to mess with your phone without being sued under the DMCA y the manufacturer for reverse engineering, decrypting, etc... the law does not guarantee you the ability or the access to do it, nor that the company has to fix what you broke during the process, just that it's no longer illegal for you to try.
The device has been out for 7 months. I honestly think that the fact that Verizon's still even advertising it is surprising. Normal "life" for a device like this is only a few months.
i think this too, if it wasnt for the AMOLED shortage, the inc could have surpassed any phone Verizon could offer. also, i agree with the fact that verizon doesnt advertise it as much as it should be, the phone has MUCH potential. i think its just verizon's fault :/
When I first got my Incredible a few months back, Verizon was ramping up their advertising campaign for the Droid X. At that time, I don't recall seeing any advertisements for the Inc (in any medium).
Now, all these months later, there are a few commercials for the Inc that I see playing fairly regularly on TV. I haven't paid enough attention to see if stores are also advertising it out front or not.
In any regard, it seems that Verizon is making a push for better public knowledge of this phone. Sure, it will eventually phase out like any other, but based on advertising, that doesn't seem to be the current trend.
I have two friends who recently (within the last two weeks) purchased Incs. One is a very educated consumer, the other barely can tell a phone from her shoes. Not sure what sold her on it, but it seems that they are still being 'pushed' to some degree.
My brother was in the Verizon store last week and commented that they were very short on Incredibles. The sales associate told him that they had recently been selling a lot of them.
Besides the TV ads, I realize that most of what I just said is completely anecdotal. Take it for what it's worth, but I think the Inc still has some time to go.
Of course, you could use all of my same points to make the opposite argument: that they are pushing them hard now so they can clear space for upcoming models (especially for the holiday season).
Guess we'll just have to wait and see.
I still see commercials for Inc.
I saw a Best Buy Black Friday ad for the Inc.
My uncle came by the house a day or two ago showing off a brand new Inc he got that week.
Nearly every model has it's rise and fall, and I'm fine with that so long as there's a decent community for the DInc that we see advancements in roms and such. MIUI is what I use and it's picking up good theme developers now with the new theming system, so regardless if the phone is losing populatity, there's enough people to provide rich content for a while.

Ctia = boring

Wow, not really much going on for the 1st day imo. Nothing much on anything coming soon, like in the next few weeks.
I'm sitting on my atrix which is in its box on the fridge waiting to hear of something coming soon on att. Guess I will just return it and get my $ back.
I've been waiting for news on the sgs2 our the samsung infuse. Maybe tomorrow our wed hopefully.
What are your thoughts.

I'm also really interested in hearing about the Samsung Galaxy S II and the Samsung Infuse. Hilariously enough, I went to an AT&T store to get a new SIM for my iPhone 4 so I could give it to my mom, and I asked an employee working there who had a little Samsung badge on his belt if he knew anything about the Infuse's release date. "Samsung Infuse? Never heard of it."
I was at CTIA today. HTC guy said they were going to announce a dual core phone today...Never heard about it. Suppose it's the Pyramid. The booth guy really didn't know very much.
Did go by the Motorola booth and jokingly complain about the Skype, Fake 4G, and other things. The guys just all grinned and blamed it on AT&T.
Galaxy S II no one at the booth would say anything about when it was coming to US.
Playstation phone was nice. Got to see an Arc (from an ericsson guys pocket) it was nice but kind of meh.
All in all I agree I have sore feet and not much else to show for my efforts.
If I had been feeling particularly malicious I would have connected my phone straight to a HDMI cord sans dock and showed the Moto guys what's been done to the phone, but I didn't.
I had the best time at the Nokia booth though. People were really friendly, and down to earth. Had a grea time chatting with a booth guy that was really knowledgeable and we both decided we hope the best comes out of the WP7 deal. I tried to get him to open up about a new "Meego" type phone but he just smiled.
Tomorrow is my last day to return the Atrix and I guess I'm keeping it.
See I had to pay full 535 for it and it just rankles me that I at times feel due to the various issues I'm not getting nor will get the full moneys worth.
Buyers remorse from too much time reading forums I guess.

Me too, same dilemma. I want a SGS II SO bad, but no idea when its being released is so off-putting. i can't wait around in limbo for 2, 3, 4 months. I paid full price for my Atrix as well and am contemplating returning it or not. I'll only get $495 of the $530 i paid though back ($35 re-stocking fee). Hoping CTIA would bring me a reason to take it back, but unfortunately nothing yet.
Well I rationalize that since. I love the phone even with all its flaws I'll enjoy it as is.
Work pays for my base phone bill & data plan so it's like getting the phone for free.

[Q] how to get a nexus s 4g?

So I have seen from several people around the thread that they were able to get a Nexus S 4g as a replacement for their OG EVo. I was wondering what would be some specific reasons to receive this replacement or what I would need to say to tech support.
Thanks
I'm wondering this as well.
i just bought one for $220 on Craigslist. now i have the evo and the nexus. best of both worlds!
You must meet these four criteria
1 be on a replacement..at least once
2 convince them that you can not leave the house for a period of time...i said I was sick and couldn't leave the house
3 the phone had problems that are mostly specific to gingerbread...ex force closes and random reboots
4 say you've talked to a manager and they said a nexus s could be a replacement

Not true. I simply went to a.service center because of problems with a charging port. They checked it out and verfied it was bad. When they went to order a replacement the nexus s came up as an option so I took it. Take this forewarning, signal on the nexus is horrible, even with the 2.3.5 update.

Just called Sprint today and got them to send me a Ns4G. All I did was explain to them how terribly unhappy I was with my EVO since the GB update. I might have exaggerated a few issues but they hooked me with the nexus and a nib at that! The "adavanced" tech support guy told me they have gotten tons of complaints about the EVO since the update. He also mention that another update was going to offered for the nexus starting on the 5th, said it was supposed to resolve the radio and battery issues......anyone hear of that? Anyway, since I have had bad reception since the GB update for my evo, I guess I might still have to deal with that......oh well, at least I'll have root again!

Because it's a total douche move of Sprint and HTC to lock the gingerbread bootloader. The Evo is the phone that made sprint relevant, and now for whatever reason a year into its lifespan it becomes LESS moddable instead of more? I approve of the action of trying to dump the evo based on this alone. They have to learn that these devices are ours to mess with, not theirs to lock down.

I agree with you in that usually the answer is don't be a freeloader and just buy the stuff you want. But consider this analogy: I buy a used car, and it worked fine, then I modified it by giving it good tires, suspension, engine upgrades, and made it completely my own. I don't expect the car to be under warranty at all because I've now made it my own, but I do have insurance. My car is crashed into, insurance replaces my car. But now, for some god damn reason when I get the car back, every bolt has a lock on it that I can't get the keys for. I BOUGHT this car originally, but now I can't modify it the way I like, when originally I very specifically went out and bought this kind of car because I CAN modify it? You can't sell someone something, then change what that something is.
A lot of us bought evos because we can modify them. And **** happens, phones get lost and dropped and whatever, that's why we have insurance. But the new evos that they get replaced with do not have the functionality that we want them to have. And they're being replaced with ****ty rebuilt evos, the worst of all worlds. So I see no problem with wanting something comparable, IF you're paying for the insurance and they're replacing the insured device with something that has less functionality. So I do very much agree, that scamming Sprint to get a free new phone is very shady and scummy. But if the product being replaced is less functional than the original, I see no problem with a "side-grade," a comparable device that costs them no more money to replace than the original device, being that they sell for the same amount. Ya feel me?

Listen, I'm not saying I'm not upset with HTC about it.
I can't get my phone repaired [usb failure] because I want to maintain root.
However, just because HTC did something like this doesn't justify scamming Sprint.

This isn't a bad reception thing. The radios in the Nexus are generally bad, ridiculously bad: WiFi, 3G, voice, all of them are terrible. Its a sweet phone but the signal issues are quite sad and makes it rather frustrating to use the phone. The July 25th update was supposed to address these issues as well and from my experience it is no better. Signal quality is a known issue for the Nexus and it is the poor quality antennas and radios that Samsung uses that makes me question their devices as a whole. I'm just happy I also have my E3D so that I can actuall get a signal when using my phone.

I'm not talking about scamming sprint at all, I'm talking about a comparable replacement. I very much love Sprint and their customer service has been excellent; I misspoke when I blamed them and didn't think about the fact that they are not to blame, HTC is.
That being said, the NS4G goes for a very similar price. Also, I'm talking about legitimate cases of loss or theft in which it's not my fault that the phone, set up the way I like it, is gone. Then the phone is replaced with, at best, a non-unlockable version, and at worst, a ****ty rebuilt replacement with screen issues or crappy USB ports, etc. Why should I, the customer who is paying for the insurance, be supplied with a lesser phone? It would be Asurion replacing my phone, not Sprint, but because they are so disconnected it makes things difficult. I would simply want the phone I lost to be replaced because I'm paying for insurance. They should provide me with what I'm paying to insure, not some weird new less functional device. Again, Asurion, not Sprint. Sprint has only been good to me thusfar.

I know this is the way it is, but just because something is some way doesn't mean I should have to live with it or not try to change things. I won't bore you with tales of history in which we have changed the norm to suit society better, nor am I under the delusion that being stuck in a lame contract is as heavy as the idea of slavery or bigotry. But I don't make a habit of sitting idly by and getting screwed over by large companies just because they told me I had to. I'm sure at least those of us who are over 25 on here work very hard for their money (I do), and I don't like being jerked around based on the whim of a corporation. I very much understand what you are saying, and I'm not under the impression that Sprint and the hacker community are pals and that they're backing out on a promise. I'm just saying, I don't see the issue with swapping to an extremely comparable phone IF your phone is already lost/stolen/destroyed, you're on insurance, and you simply prefer to have the other option. Same as if I felt like going to the Samsung Epic. Very similar phones, they're already replacing it, why does it have to be the same phone, especially when the same phone simply isn't the same anymore?
EDIT: Also fellas, I'm not intentionally being challenging with either of you or being argumentative for the sake of trolling or whatever, I'm legitimately just enjoying a robust debate on a lazy Tuesday evening. Thank you for the discussion guys
I choose not to commit insurance fraud myself. Let's remember that OS developers have an obligation to patch exploits. We are not guaranteed a rooted device unless you buy a dev phone.

Asurion only handles the replacements when a deductible is paid, otherwise it's Sprint.
Also, all carriers use Asurion for their replacement insurance.
It's not Sprint's fault that HTC patched a hole in their bootloader security, therefore it's not fair for them to lose out on money.
If Sprint gives you a different model just because of a software update that does nothing but, essentially, increase the security of the phone....well...they lose out and that's just not a viable reason for them to lose out.
Root will be achieved, it sucks I know but, relax.

Well this is the unfortunate grey area, and an oversight on my part... apologies, didn't mean to simplify too much. However, I did buy the phone because of the exploit, this is why I didn't go with a different phone. My side of this is a hard one to defend; surely patching the exploit was considered a security issue. But they had to have known what they were doing, which I can never prove, so my case would never hold up in a court of law, and I know this. It just irritates me and I fear the day that I lose my phone or it gets stolen because I'll be stuck with a crappy, half-assed gingerbread updated Evo, which seems wrong to me.

My experience purchasing a Nexus S at Best Buy today.

I went in today to get my girlfriend a Nexus S since it's free on contract today for my girlfriend. The girl that helped me had an ass worthy of a human sacrifice.
Her other assosiate stated that they had one more left but it came preinstalled with an Invisishield and that is have to pay additional for it. I told her I wasn't interested and then asked her why they would open a new phone and tamper with it without the customers consent. I would have let their little commission scam slide if the protector was put on properly. The shield looked like a righty broke his arm and and put the screen protector on with his left. It had more bubbles than an ice cold Coke.
I declined and they ripped the.protector off and threw it out. I thought it was pretty funny and wondered if any of you guys ran into that. I'm going to check the phone when I get home to make sure I don't have any water damage.

I had to drive an hour and a half to get my wife's new upgrade as the local Best Buy stores in my area do not carry T-Mobile. So it was off to Raleigh. But the Best Buy Phone store was very nice and so were the sale associates. I think it was a great deal.
Picked up my freebee today from BB, would you believe, it took 3 1/2 hours !!!!
Everything was going wrong at the store .. problems activating, problems with my account, continuous calls to AT&T & BB Corporate .. it was basically a nightmare.
To top it all off, in the process or trying to activate the damn phone, they completely rubbed my wife's phone off AT&T's system !!! Wife has iPhone 4 that was now dead in the water. Call my wife's phone, nothing, states # disconnected !!! Another 1 hour on the phone with AT&T Business Enterprise trying to get wifes # back & iPhone re-activated.
I sent the BB Store Manager (who I know personally) & Corporate BB Mobile a nasty a$$ email explaining the complete ordeal there at his store and my issues afterwards of what his BB employees did to my AT&T account.
Let's see what response I get from that.

No. The market update is totally random. If you had him do a few factory resets it'll get pushed to his device. Say 3 out of 7 resets results in the market update.

How are the recent CM7 nightlies running on the Nexus S(no 4G)? I've got to root my dad's so he can have tethering. I have an Inspire so I don't keep up around here.
Picked one up today without issue. Although I may be returning this. Not sure its a good replacement for the EVO.

same here, was not aware that the signal problem would be that bad for me, it is.
although service hasn't cut or anything, i do not like seeing no bars, and only a 3g icon, at all. I loved the feel of my original Nexus however, and wanted that back, on top of that, I just need a 2nd phone to do code **** on.
my day? 12 hours worth of trying to get my Nexus S.
9am: post on XDA
10am: go to store, see what the deal is, BB site told me i was eligible for a partial upgrade
10:30: deuche at BB looks my stuff up, tells me since im at partial upgrade it would only be 75$ off the 549 price. I laughed.
10:40: I explain that my friend bought his evo the day after i did, we both left tmobile for sprint, few days after EVO3d release, my buddy and I go into sprint store to pay whatever for a 3d. They give him a 3D for 199.99, no plan change, no plan upgrade, no premier gold membership. no issues.
dude insist that he did not, and that im lie'ing, and know nothing of what i was talking about, because that defitnally would not of happened that way, and if anything, I can buy an Evo3D for 4something with my partial discount
i tell this guy ima bout to f**king kill him for telling me i dont know what im talking about, i was WITH HIM. turn around and leave.
11: call sprint. get transferred 3 times to handle why my buddy got that scenario, yet im not eligible.
Lady was so nice, sounded young, sweet, and most importantly, smart-understanding-and well informed. Tells me she can "buy up" upgrade my plan, and start fresh witha new 2 year contract, and that i would be eligible for any phone at new 2 year price, my plan was upgraded by i think $10, but could have been $20. I also get a discount for being a "UPS employee" * so i dont care to pay a small difference.
12: She tells me "IT WILL TAKE UP TO 2 HOURS TO TAKE PLACE" she makes it VERY clear, keep texting 1311 with "upgrade" for the next 2 hours, when it goes through, Ill know. She'll also have an email sent to confirm it processes.
3pm: still nothing, have to leave for IT work, keep texting upgrade
4:30pm: tech work done, keep texting upgrade
-im a patient person, friendly, do excellent customer support, I understand hostile people, so i am not one of them, with 3rd party customer support-
5: I call sprint. 3 people later, 2 of languages I can not understand english from 60year smoking veterans cough. 3rd lady is of your typical "Tyqueisha" attitude for her type of name, you know what im saying.
She tells me "day shouldn't have told u 2 hours, it will take up to 48 hours", but she "just axed her managa and she says im in a waiting list to get it done so just sit tyte it'll come threw for'ch'u"
5:30: off phone with sprint, pissed. start calling best buys around my area to locate if they even have any
6:30: many 10-25 minute waiting on hold before talking to anyone, i try calling further away stores, but ask them to look up specifics.
- I used to work at best buy, geek squad, 2 years. I know when they look up stuff on "RSS" that usually its off by about 2 hours, so a quick way to tell someone to piss off, is to tell them another store that RSS says is in stock, to get off the phone quickly, and to again, piss off caller X -
7:20: I think I locate one, about 30 minutes away, compared to the 7 minutes away.
7:40: I call my 7 minute away store, and have been on hold for 20 minutes, finally get someone - I ask them to check RSS - knowing - "no apparently were out"
7:45: Still texting upgrade - Nothing yet
7:50: Try calling store that i think the Nexus S is at, get on hold. Wait 5 min, hang up, ill assume its there.
7:55: call sprint. get transferred up 3 people - dude is so sorry, guarantee that it will be on in 30 minutes, hes walking to his supervisor to pass it on right now, no more problems, no call backs, 100% positive, 30 minutes.
8:10: I figure, hell, I know RSS is always wrong, ill drive to my 7 minute store, make an employee call direct to other stores, find me, ill drive fast to taht store, real, real fast.
8:17: in best buy, huge, huge line. wait in it for about 5 minutes, go seek a manager, because if im gonna wait there, I want to know its there, if it is, ill wait.
8:25: im still waiting for floor manager to come back, lemme know whats up, i walk over to mobile area, he's passing out 'store tickets' to help assign inventory to people waiting.
i walk up to him like "dude, you better say your about to walk one of those last 2 in your hands for me back there"
he stutters.. tells me he was, but stuttered because he wsent sure if it was me walking up to him, from the area i was in. I laugh, say sure, take the ticket.
8:30:8:35ish - text upgrade - nothing! nothing! there about 12 people in line in front of me, I apoligize to the few people around me, for what was about to happen.
--
i call sprint. i inform them to read the notes, they've been keeping track, and that i am waiting in line, as today, as they know, is the only day of the deal, the notes show i was promised 2 hours, then promised 30 minutes, 8 hours ago. I tell them if i get to the front of the line, and they don't have an solution for me, that it would turn into my last phone call with sprint, and the end of my sprint developer account as well, oh BTW, this is also 4 people up, from my initial person i spoke with when i called.
thats not all i said, but thats the just of it, i had the attention of every person in line the whole time, demonstrating exactly what a very smart real-mean-asshole-jerk, actually is, in person.
--
8:50pm: Whoever, at Sprint was, tells me 5 minutes, ten TOPS. ill have a text, and it will be activated. he is with his supervisor, and are going to do it, as soon as im off the phone.
5 minutes later, only 3 people moved out of the line, i keep texting upgrade.
5 minutes later - it happens. it actually takes the ten minutes, that prick.
by this time, best buy closed.
I walk out , with my nexus S , at 9:50, 2nd to last customer out of the store.
my outcome:
nexus S reception sucks compared to EVO, atleast in comparison to visually seeing bars on screen.
2 of the employee's bought my weed icon apps.
Sweet, I get a new phone to test stuff on, and make $1.40 from selling apps in person, lost 12 hours of my life.
worth it? you tell me.
sprint, this isn't over.
im sorry for anyone that reads all of that, but that is really how it went down, and i hope someone at sprint may some day see it, and just say "damn, sucks for you dude!" and laugh all the way to the bank.

You're lucky it was done same day. Turn around time on buyups are 24-48 hours as it's a backend team that does them in the order they are received. Couple hundred resets a day that must be verified for accuracy and that qualifications are met, 10 backend members doing them and the other thousand things they have to do as well. Sucks for the hassle though.

Why is Verizon employee telling me not to get this?

Verizon employees keep telling me this phone is crap when I try to go buy one. They told me they have only sold one and it was returned. But this contradicts everything ive read. It has outstanding reviews. Any ideas?
most likely bc they don't get paid out well on it, or know nothing about it and would rather sell you an iphone or a moto x.
Or Droid since those are Verizon most advertised phones. Lg is underrated making the pretty much the best phones since ca one year now.

Lol. Please tell me you can see a crappy sales pitch when you hear that. They most likely dont know what their talking about.
Ya definetly can tell, but my dad cant lol. Hes picking it up for me and they are feeding him the lines. He doesnt think I should get it now. Hate Verizon
Verizon sales reps have a $100 accessory quota and will talk down any phone with little choice in accessory.

Yeah took my VZW rep 10 minutes to turn on the phone. Couldnt find the power button to save his life...LOL
Moto pretty much owns Verizon and Samsung spends way too much on marketing. LG is kind of out of the picture unfortunately.
Interestingly enough, I stopped by my local Verzon (Corp Store) to check out the flip case for the G2 and the Sales Rep said, "they don't carry accessories until the phone is released" and that the "G2 is available for pre-order only." I asked to speak to a Manager who said the same thing only added a condescending "I have been the Mgr here for years and know my inventory."
I thoroughly enjoyed whipping out my G2 and dropping a "well I guess I'm from the future?!" They spent the next 30 minutes finding the phone in their inventory and asking each other about specs, selling features, etc.
Bottom line: Verizon doesn't care about the G2. However, they're all trained up on the motox, S4 and upcoming 5S
Had the same experience on Friday. Pretty much told me the phone was garbage and I would be bring it back. Tried selling me the S4 (coming from the S3 lol), or the Moto X.
edsceao recognition
FWIW, my sales rep literally had never heard of the phone and I had to show her which one it was. She also knew absolutely nothing about the device when it came time for her to activate it. I had to show her where the power button was, etc...
Same experience with me. The idiot sales rep tried to sell me an HTC One when I asked for the G2. She claimed it was much better phone and was very excited about showing me the new cases for it too. I hate dealing with these people.
They have too much current inventory belonging to their moneymaking manufacturers and too high of incentives to keep you in the "droid" family. The guy at the corporate store by me didn't know what it was when I asked for it but did find it & bring it out for me to see. No demo units on the floor until the 17th or 18th though. Even though I've never had an lg before, I'm strongly leaning toward this one. Gotta buy it outright tho to kelp unlimited.
Sent from my XT912 using Tapatalk 4
Ya the guy at mine told us he had it for 3 months??? That doesn't even make sense lol. He said that it got slow and broke after 2 months. Hasn't this phone only been announced for like 2 months? Cant believe they would lie that terribly.
Exact same experience, I was told that LG was garbage and stick to the HTC one or S4.

Probably someone who has it confused with the original g, or pro?
I understand that us XDA members know much more about these devices than your average person. Much more. But sales people? Ridiculous. Have you ever listened to one of these guys sell a phone to someone after the customer explained what features they needed? I've heard these people lie (or maybe they're that ignorant) to get the customer on the phone with the biggest profit margin. I saw a lady looking at a maxx until the sales person came up and took her to a DNA because it had better battery life. Anyway, how many people have you heard say they hate their phone? (Non enthusiasts) Most of the time it's a phone you or I would like. They hate it because they were sold the wrong phone. These days they're packing enough stuff into one phone that it doesn't matter so much but not too long ago, you really had to find a phone that fit you. Still the case I guess but MOST sales people just don't care about the customer. If I go to a store, it's only because I can't wait for next day shipping.

I can say my experience at the Verizon store in midtown Omaha, NE was the opposite... The sales person that assisted me was an extremely attractive young lady of 23 to 24 whose phone knowledge was excellent. Instead of trying to sell me something else, she knew the best way to work with a customer is to be agreeable, pleasant, and empathetic.
Usually I get some jackass in an over-sized oxford with droopy slacks trying to work me with his easybro "charm". "Hey man, you gotta protect that inVESTment... you NEED this screen protector."

Picture or it never happened
I love me some stupid VZW sales reps. And the corporate store prices for accessories are horrible too.
The sad thing is it's going to be very difficult for this device to succeed. LG has done virtually nothing to market it that I've seen, and the Verizon reps don't even know it's on display in their store. Were it not for the online reviews I stumbled upon, I wouldn't even know the phone existed.
If the exact same phone had Samsung on it and their marketing behind it, then the sky would be the limit.
