The hardware video codec is not so great.. it may be format limited.
The 366 cpu is quite slow as
My x10 mini pro at 600Mhz hardly has the brunt for it all at 320x240.
But it's a start.. soon android devices will be very cheap.
A ARM cpu costs less than US$1

But that is cheap as this so what should i choose?

I read about it on reuters and they said (indian specialist) that it will suck, the materials that will be used will be crappy, not so fast, impossible to upgrade
I sincerely think that you as a student should try to buy a good tablet and not pay 1700+ rupies(sp?) or around 35 dlls for it
Edit: to the post above this one.... get the nokia trust me

some people don't have money to study or eat food!
Its made because poor people's children can do study with the help of it coz they don't have money to buy pc or laptop
government is paying 50% cost for students so they can study!

this is not for those who want to play angry birds
this tablet is for those who cant afford laptop,pc,mobile coz it is too expensive thus making them technology illiterate. the main purpose is to give access to modern technology to school students so that once they grow up they are not scared of a computer which is a case now.

I got to play with the Atrix yesterday...

So i'll start with the good, the screen is really nice.
The bad:
Not 4.3 even though it's higher res, it's nice to have larger size text.
I launched google maps and I wanted to see how the 2 finger rotating worked on both. It actually worked better on the EVO. You would think with a powerful cpu the atrix would be able to rotate with no lag...
Anyway, we're not missing much (It probably is better at 3D games which i don't normally do on my phone)
Edit:
I must add though that the build quality seemed excellent and it's nice size phone with perfect weight. It's a nice product don't get me wrong.

LOL.......
All I know about motorola is that their buld quality seems really solid. I don't care for Blur, but root solves that. The phone seems like a winner.
My buddy had an original Droid, was playing Pandora one day while we were about 25 feet in the air on a boom lift... dropped that sucker and all it did was pop the battery door off and scratch it a little... still worked like a charm.
Sadly, if I dropped my EVO from that Height.. it's smartphone heaven. I do still love my EVO tho

The actual core of the cpu is an a8 cortex. I believe Google maps doesn't use much of the gpu, and Android and Android apps might not be able to make much use of multiple cores or threads.

the tegra 2 uses cortex a9 cores. but your probably right that android currently isn't optimized for the tegra2/dual core.
Atrix suffers from one severe limitation, which for many will be a complete deal breaker - ATT + their awesome atrix premium charges for using the atrix functionality.
bet if the atrix said evo and sprint on it you would think the world of it and go into the land of iphony and preach its gospel to the unenlightened

yup, two years ago i used to brag about how fast sprint 3g was. gizmodo even rated them as having the fastest 3g of all carriers. then hspa+ came and t-mo/at&t passed us which was bad enough, but then sprint's 3g just took a complete nose dive over the last couple of months. what the hell is up with that? sprint's 3g is no where near as competitive with anyone anymore.

Not with a locked bootloader because all of the good Dev's on here would not be supporting it, so it really wouldn't be worth it. No CM7 Love or probably fresh or anyone else.

Poor Graphics Performance on Galaxy Tab 10.1

Really frustrating to see that THD versions of games are not as frame rate heavy as they are on the Xoom.
Check out the video I put up to see what I mean.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pfNJ8kIblR8
What do you guys think?
I'm still not entirely convinced that this thing is a tegra 2. has anyone confirmed this?
Anyway, I have noticed some significant lag a lot of times. I have a feeling it might just be a software issue though because some things are very smooth, e.g. carousel in music app.
I don't have the hd version of fruit ninja and I don't really want to buy it since I already paid for the non-hd version. Can you try running logcat with it? Look for any SurfaceFlinger. I wish these things had grep...
Edit: if you don't have the adb drivers, you should be able to get them here
Edit2: This must be a tegra device. there are tons of files like tegra_gpio, tegra_rpc, etc on there.
Yeah, it has to be. But I haven't seen it referred to as Tegra anywhere other than by the official NVIDIA Tegra twitter. But, they never mentioned Tegra2.. which they always mention. Hmmm..

Yes please do, or $cat /proc/cpuinfo or Android System Info -> System -> Expand CPU. If its like the other dev/carrier/test unit posted in this area it will say "p3" which is anybodys guess as to what that is (might be Samsung packaged Tegra special stuff they bought from nVidia.) Or......crazy unfounded theory here:
Tegra 3.....
I owned a xoom and it also bogged down.

His remarks on the screen are insulting. Side by side with the iPad 2 the galaxy tab is clearly brighter and more vibrant and that's saying alot because the ipad screen is damn good. I had the xoom, that screen is awful, well not awful it just I was spoiled by the iPad screen.
As for tegra, yes it is, how do I know? It sucks at 720p high profile videos ..player helps out a little bit

Yeah, I like this line from the article...
"It won’t win any kind of awards for its brightness or crispness – unfortunately, it’s just LCD, rather than AMOLED"
Just LCD? It's certainly not as bright and crisp as all those other AMOLED tab.... oh wait, there are no AMOLED tablets.
I'm also disappointed it only has wifi instead of a flux capacitor. So old school.
Samsung is known for their amoled screens in their android phones.I'm on one now what with my little vibrant and it is staggeringly beautiful compared to most regular lcds. I'm personally still holding out and hoping a tablet with a similarly wonderful screen will eventually appear, as its hard to go back after using this

The guys comments in the review about the screen are rubbish. it much better than the xoom. the colours are much more vibrant and the images a lot more crisp! He is either comparing it to the amoled phone screen or he is an apple fanboy.
I own a Galaxy Tab 10.1v, in Quadrant it says for CPU:
Name: ARMv7 Processor rev0 (v7l)
Current freq.: 216MHz
Max freq: 1000 MHz
Min freq: 216MHz
Cores: 2
Architecture: 7
BogoMIPS: 999.42
Hardware: P3
Revision: 0
Serial #: 000000000000000000
For GPU it says:
Vendor: NVIDIA Corporation
Renderer: NVIDIA AP
Version: OpenGL ES-CM 1.1
Max texture units: 2
Max texture size: 2048
Max lights: 8
Not sure what that means... Does that mean it's a Tegra2 or not?
EDIT: I just watched your video, your device seems to have tons of more lag than mine does. I have not lag at all playing Fruit Ninja HD... I have to say though, I rooted my device, I found it really laggy at starts, so I went into SetCPU to check if my device was underclocked or locked. I found out that the scaling was set to Interactive, I changed this to OnDemand which was superior in my experience... After doing that I saw a noticable difference in the menu's and playing Angry Birds...
When I used to play Angry Birds and pulled a bird back before launch it would have the same lag that you have in your video's... Now it's silky smooth
I have a google i/o one...
cat /proc/cpuinfo says:

This video is rubbish. First off, what Android version is he running, and what is he running in the background. Android 3.1 made my Xoom seem 25% faster. On my Xoom, if I have alot of items running in the background and I don't use task killer or close the apps manually like nes, snes, emulators, etc, some games rarely will bog down. Notice the video is zoomed in and doesnt show the task bar.
This guy could be a inferior pad2, I mean ipad2 fan, so beware and ignore this article.

Haha, dude.. you are way off point. I am running 3.0 on the 10.1 tab, OBVIOUSLY, since that's the only version out for it right now. SINCE IT'S NOT EVEN OUT YET.
And I absolutely love the tablet. I am just wondering if there's something wrong. Nothing is running in the background. I am just wondering why the hell there's any lag. I also own a Xoom. So, relax.
There's a reason I've been going to I/O ever year for the last 3 years and you were sitting at home crying.

Sorry, I didnt meant any disrespect. So the Samsung doesnt have 3.1 yet? My Xoom updated itself last Friday to 3.1. It made a huge difference in performance. Give us an update when the Samsung is running 3.1.
Also has anybody seen a video or pics of the Samsung 10.1 next the to iPad 2? My friend keeps rubbing it in on how much better the iPad2 screen is to the Xoom. I cant wait to get the Samsung.

SGS2(mali400) beats iPad2(sgx543) in GLbenchmark

I check the GLbenchmark website just now, found that the result of i9100 is now public.
Captured the pictures for your convinience.
If the benchmark only runs at native resolution then this is useless because the iPad has a much higher resolution, therefore it would perform worse. Of course if it runs at a fixed resolution I couldn't be more happy.
I know maybe it's a little bit unfair,it runs at native resolution, but still impressive.
And I did a little calculation with other model's results, the 25% more pixels leads to 12.5% less frames.
iPad 2 have 100% more pixels than SGSII.
(all proximate value)
1.25*1.25*1.25= 2;
0.875*0.875*0.875 =0.67;
So if SGSII has a iPad 2 resolution, the benchmark would be one third less.
Well for me it seems that sgx543 has better performance. But good thing is that it wont be that much.

I don't think performance is really that important, tbh. It's all about the kind of games that will be developed for the platforms. For example, even though the original SGS with its sgx540 is FAR better than the iphone 4's sgx535, the quality of games available and its graphics are much MUCH better on the iphone 4. I have both the gulf in class between the two when it comes to the quality of the gaming library is absolutely enormous, and only the tegra 2 phones have done something to bridge this gap for android phones.
One can only imagine the kind of awesome games that will be developed for that beastly sgx543 for the iphone 5. I just hope that the majority of the games will also find their way on the android market and the SGS2 (and not tegra zone), with its ever growing popularity because the mali definitely has the capability to run those games well.
Personally, i feel that the next iteration of the Xperia Play will be the ultimate device for hardcore gamers, beating even the iOS devices at the time. The current one is the ultimate emulation phone thanks to its brilliant gamepad, and runs all oldschool PSX, N64, SNES etc. games with aplomb - and if you're into that kind of thing then it's an absolute joy to behold.
No, most of the scores i've seen and done myself are around 40-44 fps for Mali, NOT 50 fps, I'm not sure what they've done to get over 50 fps but that's not what the phone normally scores.
Also theres a resolution difference.
EDIT: Just rechecked it's on Top not Average, when looking at benchmark numbers you need to look at the average framerate.
It's actually 46.7 fps or the iPad 2 and 40.2 fps for the Galaxy S II.

If the xperia play has good quality N64 roms, my SGS 2 is going back to mr orange
Honestly benchmarks mean nothing if there's NO apps.
and take it from me, my iOS library is over 600 purchased apps and games, and I've got around 20 purchased games on android.
That's a huge difference, I literally KNOW of every game almost in existence I get them RIGHT away when they come out. I know the very vast differences in choices from Android gaming to iOS.
and I always miss my iOS games when i'm out (android phone) it's a good thing my iPad 2 gives me the Fix I need. =D
for you iOS gamers out there, seriously try out a game called "Battleheart" It will devour your soul... freaking epic game...

You'll be amazed: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qYodquYXArs
tbh every android phone can run n64 games well i guess, what sets the play apart is that there aren't any ugly and cumbersome touch controls taking up the screen.
But the fact remains that the SGS2, apart from the above, does everything else SO much better!
How many cores?
Can someone confirm if the Mali400 used in GS2 using multi core? I believe I read somewhere that Samsung decided to use only a single core for the GS2.
I think you can find some game pad for android on sale in the near future, since Gingerbread 2.3.4 supports Open Accessory API.
So you can connect to a pad when you play games, and get rid of it when you don't.
Based on some of those scores, it looks like it's hitting the 60fps cap
Even at higher res the exynos scores great, check the hard kernel benches =) their tab uses the same/similar chip

Bear in mind that the GPU in mobiles tend to clocked lower than that in tablets to keep the power consumption down. So diffcicult to do an apples for apples comparison (excuse the pun) in this case. Will have to wait for iPhone 5 numbers.

What i have read is that it uses a 2 core model. The 4 core model is headed for the Sony NGP.

That's the PowerVR SGX543 you're thinking of. The iPad 2 uses the dual-core variant, the NGP will be using the quad-core variant.
The GS II has a quad-core Mali-400. Anything less, and it would never attain the results it's currently getting on GLBenchmark.

The Pro test that's the case but it's not wit the Eqypt test, max is around 50 fps so it never even reaches 60 fps.

[Specs] Sony Xperia Z3 Compact Specifications - Members Thoughts

Hey all
Here Sony have gone against the past "mini" devices, the compact is a fully featured little brother of the flagship Xperia Z3. Boasting the same chipset, albeit with reduced RAM. It also features the same PS4 remote play feature. Something I'm sure we would all like to see ported to other devices. Its a promising Smartphone for those who feel the shear size of the flagship devices are getting out of hand.
Lets take a look at the Sony Xperia Z3 Compact's specifications, feel free to comment

Thanks for the link to the white paper. Originally I thought they might have removed/disabled ANT+ as it wasn't listed in the product website but is mentioned in the white paper. Looking to use it for cycling and hoping with battery life it can do up to 6 hours with GPS enabled.

Regarding expandable storage, it isn't really limited to 128GB, it's just that nothing larger exists. Technically according to the microSDXC spec it is limited to 2TB expandable storage.
Has anyone had any confirmation on whether there'll be a glove or pen mode?

I don't think they say 128gb max, because there isn't any bigger, but because Sony itself supports till that size. The system itself supports bigger of course.
720p with snapdragon 801. This thing will fly and battery life will be better than z1c

Thanks for correcting this, it has been erroneously reported as 64GB in a lot of places
Cheers guys:good: Updated the OP.
Looking forward to the 20.7 mp camera. Currently have an HTC one m7, worst camera ever. Also like the compact size and decent battery capacity.

Ditto. Although would the reduced RAM offer better battery life? The 720p screen was a smart move and I completely understand that decision, but I'm wondering why they only went with 2 gb of RAM? People will say, Who needs 3 gb? But that's just a tired answer, why upgrade anything at all then? It's been shown that the extra RAM would improve performance, but I'm curious if it also affects battery.

Hmm yeah, I don't know. I guess it does matters 'a lot', in theorie 1gb extra ram would add 33% more power consumption.

In that case the battery would be used just from the memory. Not from screen, network etc.
2Gb are enough, the z3 needs 3 because of the full hd display because there is no separate graphics ram.
have the 2GB RAM been confirmed?... gsmarena states in all previews that it will have 3GB as it's bigger counterpart... but the specs page say it's 2GB, so I was wondering (or hoping) if it was a "typo" of them when making the specs page .

oh well... Sony site says 2GB. Link. It should be more than enough though...
Against fist rumors it seems that the bezel/frame is not aluminum.
Sony used some plastic for the sides.
After using my beloved One S for two years now i think i will miss the feel of the surface.
Hope the glass and the frame will not be prone to scratches.
But i'm really tempted to get this phone and hope some Devs will give us some fabulous roms.
This will be my next phone!!!!
i'm just waiting for clove.co.uk to get it in stock and hopefully bundle one of the smartbands/watches w/it again like the Z1 was.
I'm an AT&T USA customer and was previously on Tmobile USA and loved my Xperia Z1 and haven't upgraded phones since getting it last nov. The biggest feature that Sony has above everyone else? Waterproof phones.
Plus, a 'mini' phone that has the exact flagship specs = PURE WIN!!! and to top it off, PS4 remote play.. oh yea!
The Z3C could have been the ideal phone for me if only it had a few "minor" changes. First and foremost 32 GB of internal storage then 3 GB of ram and the matte back surface of the Z3C tablet.
Hope Sony will adress these "issues" while keeping the same footprint.

There is no such thing as a 'perfect' phone.
They could have added these things easily, but didn't chose to do so because it would consume more power.
The matte back surface is purely based on taste

I actually prefer the glass-sandwhich look. I'm coming from a Nexus4, which I've realised since the beginning was too big for my taste, and this z3compact seems the perfect phone for me.

Latest Windows tablet model from Onda - V891w.
Trending 8.9 inch design, Full HD screen (perfect resolution for Windows, not too low, but not too high, since Windows doesn't scale very well on higher Retina like resolutions).
Fast Intel Atom Quad core CPU with a very tempting price just around.
Onda V891w - Mod Edit: please do not post commercial links onto xda. Thanks!
Screen 8.9 inch IPS (1920 x 1200px)
CPU Intel Bay Trail Z3735F Quad Core 64Bit 1.83GHz
RAM 2GB
Capacity 32GB + MicroSD up to 128GB
System Windows 8.1
Battery 5000mAh
Size 241x169x8.9mm
I was looking at this at well,
it's like the only 9" windows tablet which i found overall (including non-chinese ones)
and then the specs, with high-res etc and the price, looks a bit too good to be true? its even way cheaper than other ondas.
the back reminds me of my dell venue 8 pro to be fair, but i really like the back there
on banggood it looks like first batch sold out already and they expect a second batch
tinydeal and pandawill still have it from what it looks like?
but i cant really find any experience reports on the net yet (except one russian youtube video, where he just shows it)
I think that resolution is going to make this a very slow device.
Looks great though., like the Dell

what u mean with slow device?
as long as videoplay in that resolution works flawless, browsing and office software aswell, that would be sufficient for me
Bowsing is memory and gpu intensive. And at that reolution I'm guessing you want
to see 1080p contend and use other browser. Forget smoothness at that resolution on an Z3735G.
Just saying. Looks sweet though.

it's a Z3775F (which unfortunately is even a bit slower?)
for me this are just numbers and i have 0 experience with these hardware specs, but if someone says it won't be smooth then i would probably be looking for a different tablet? :/
1080p playback would be the major issue for me btw, i will only browse 1 tab with it, it's not a working machine, it would be for travels or for my couch/bed
Also not working and have 7 tabs open ? lucky number.
It's a Z3735F you mean, right? A Z3775 would be sweet but expensive.
You can always check devices with the same specs for there performance. Lots
of those.. A few at least.. all sluggish. Z3740 would even struggle.

ment it with a lil bit of homour
at first glance this tablet looked perfect, good specs with perfect price, so i was really lookin forward to it
thats the reason i post here, to get some knowledge on things i dont understand (e.g. the intel processors and their performance)
i am obviously thankful for you help !
Just keep your viciousness in tact and you'll do fine.
So i did some research today and tried to look how the CPU is working, couldnt find anything useful there, so i tried finding a tablet/notebook which has the same CPU in it with a screen running same resolution aswell:
http://www.notebookcheck.net/Acer-Aspire-Switch-10-Full-HD-Convertible-Review-Update.129800.0.html
From what i read here, it says basically that it isnt the fastest machine on earth, but that it's still running well and gets the job done?
Obviously not a gaming machine, but don't that 1080 videoplayback or normal surfing can't be done with it

i have the Onda v975w. it has the z3735f cpu and it has a retina display (2,048 x 1,536). it plays 1080p perfectly, it could play 1080p video while web browsing without a hitch although a bit tight on screen space

No, it blows crap out of EVERY ANDROID and iPAD tablet ever made! Intel Bay trail chipset has more power than most budget notobooks from the previous year.
Intel subsides Bay Trail CPUs up to $50 each, just to beet crap out of competition and take market from ARM.
This tablet runs 4k video, it can even encode them and run older games like Counter Strike Source or Call of Duty 4 at playable FPS rate.
Seriously.. z3735f is an low end cpu..
Don't misinform people, sir.

Very nice advice, so why you don't use it more often?
Here is my video with the cheapest and most basic: 8 inch / Intel Atom Z3735G / 1GB RAM / 8GB SSD / Windows 8.1 tablet.
I should
Quick reminder, Z3735f is the most basic. G and D only differ in memory size.

The Z3735G has one 32-bit memory channel, whereas the F has one 64-bit channel. The F has a max memory bandwidth of ~10.6GB/s, the G ~5.3GB/s.
If you have to choice between a F and a G then pick the F.
Yep, that's true. Can't argue with that..
My Onda has Z3735D and eStar Z3735G, but I haven't noticed any real difference. Maybe because both comes with Windows x86 or 32bit is still more than enough for 2GB RAM.
Both scores identical 67FPS in Counter Strike Source stress test.
