ATRIX is my LAST Motorola product - Atrix 4G General

So my phone has this problem of only intermittently vibrating when I get a text/call. So I got an RMA and sent it in. First off, the lost it, and took several days and several phone calls to find somebody who was able to locate my phone. They then told me that it was not under warranty because it was physical damage. They said the main board was bent. Somehow I was apparently able to bend the phone enough to bend the main board but not crack the screen or back or anything else. So they said they could sell me a phone for $179 (no way). Sounds like crap to me........ I'll be buying Samsung next time.

cool story bro.

I prefer Samsung too. But in the long run I'm going to go with cool story bro

I swear stupid **** threads like this need to be deleted as soon as they are posted.
Some days I wish I was a MOD, dumbass posts like these wouldn't happen.

And, to be honest, I believe OP is only presenting a very small part of the story.
Notice how, toward the end of his ramble, he said he dropped the phone?
Sir, facts like those are important if you're trying to get people to rally behind you.

Who cares which company .... all that matters is that it has Andorid inside and got a development forum in XDA

Except Samsung has always been on top of updates. The only time Samsung hasn't had a timely update was due to networks, namely AT&T, not approving of the update for a long time.

I agree! Samsung makes good phones, but the touchwiz icons make me feel like I should use velcro shoes, safety scissors, finger paints, ect.
I posted this to get up to the 10 post limit for the dev forums, thanks. I feel validated since it was already towards the top of the page, and my post adds about as much to these forums as the OP

Purposely brick a DX

Ok guys, weird question...my screen is totally scratched up, no idea how it happened, but I am really pissed off about it. Anyway, I have the best buy extra insurance (Black tie?). I want to brick my DX so they can give me a new one. ****ed up I know, but I am paying for it, so I might as well take advantage. How do i do, or what is the best way to make it irrecoverable?
If you bought the accidental plan, just drop in in a puddle. I told them i was gonna hack it when i bought it and they said no problem but if anything happens and I have to bring it in, I better make sure it doesnt power on at all.
Best solution, pop it in the microwave for a couple seconds. It will nit power on after that.

Hes turning in the phone, so they are able to repair it and give it to the next person that breaks their phone. This saves us cost, because the other alternative is him reporting it lost and just keeping it.
You could always do the OTA then sbf 2.1. done brick. and you dont have to break anything, and now best buy and asurion will lower our insurance costs! jk

No, the alternative is to just live with his scratched up phone. Any other "alternative" which gets him a new phone on the policy's dime (including reporting it lost), is a crime.

and if/when you get a replacement, may i recommend a screen protector....
Maaaaan all you have to do is say the on screen keyboard doesn't work its a software issue it only works when it wants to. Just remember The customer is ALWAYS right...I did it over the phone threatned to cancle my service and 2 days later new phone that was the droid 1 though. [UPDATED: 5/10/12] Sprint's Policy on Handling Rooted Devices

Here is the official document outlining their methods and procedures for handling devices with suspicion of root.
oo reary ??
so basically it's a "please don't root, but if you do...umm...well please don't"?
Seems pretty inoffensive to me. But the stuff about "schoolmarming" a rooter is ridiculous. I'd like to believe that anyone smart enough to find out about and root doesn't need a talking-to. I also doubt that rooted customers take up much of a support center's time overall. Of course, Sprint employees including Korey AKA WDM may say something else about that.

well, they don't want you to root for obvious reasons... tethering probably being the biggest one. Plus having to replaced bricked phones would be another. I can see their perspective... and instantly disregard it

Appreciate the info but this does not seem to cover what it means if they open a ticket and note that the device is suspected of root. Now with this suspect of root does this then give them an out on replacing or repairing?
Again this is all coming from my experience of my local and only place to get service, threatening to blacklist my phone if he "suspected" root.
Here is the Emeryville, CA store number (510) 596-0930 Give them a call and ask if you can bring in your phone for repair if you have root. I bet you will get a "no"

Print this pdf out and show it to them. Tell them it came from ISC in the "Service and Repair" section. If they ask how you got it, tell them it doesn't matter and that it is your job to know these things.
Yes it is noted that your phone is rooted, but like it says if there is an issue with a phone that cannot be fixed that will Advance Exchange it. No matter what. Trust me. If you have a problem just PM me and then I'll call.
Thanks for the info. The local reseller he wouldn't touch mine when she saw it was rooted. Mind you I took it in for the slider being loose and first thing she did was scroll through my apps and look for super user, then promptly showed me the door.

Who in their right mind would bring back a rooted phone expecting it to be covered/serviced. One with a working display for that matter.
You people are absolutely ridiculous.
I've been telling you all this for weeks now, and now korey posts one of the documents I was referring to, and you STILL choose to not only waste your time by going to stock, but making it harder for us to replicate and solve issues by not handing us the phone in the original environment when you found the issue. That can make it very hard at times to properly triage and repair a phone; think of it like forensics, a crime scene is only properly diagnosed when NOTHING IS TOUCHED.
So please, save me the frustration, and simply bring this doc in with you. And if they give you a hard time, tell them to look up the OTHER doc, the one that outlines which tier rooted phones fall in to (tier 2, btw, which dictates a $35 charge if you don't have TEP and free if you do. Which, hey, guess what, is the same ****ing tier as a nonrooted phone! Who would've thunk it!)
And to whoever says educating a customer is unneccessary because obviously they're smart enough blah blah blah...you're ignorant. Very very ignorant. Because no, I didn't get that customer that came in no less than SIX times with a bricked epic from just ATTEMPTING to root, actually ROOTED it for him, and flashed godamn srf, and yet still returned A SEVENTH ****ING TIME with a bricked epic. No, that definitely didn't happen. No way. There's just no way freaking way somebody who is interested in "hacking" their phone is actually an idiot. Nope.

And allow me to reiterate, any trouble you get for a rooted device IN NO WAY IS A REFLECTION OF SPRINT. It is a reflection of the employee, and their laziness/ignorance/misconceptions. Fight them, because they are wrong.
Also, I cannot speak for 3rd party stores (your typical mall retailers). Not only do they sometimes operate under *slightly* different rules that I'm not privy to, but some of them frequently operate poorly and intentionally misguide you.
A classic and shockingly common example is sending us customers with liquid damage, telling them that we'll replace a liquid damaged phone for free if they complain enough.

Omg samsung galaxy a II has self regeneration capabilities.

OK so a few months back, I got into the this blind rage (not gonna go into the details) and the only thing in my hand was my poor galaxy s2. So I threw it very very hard on the floor and the back cover, the battery, and even the sd card came off. Soon afterwards I picked it up and put everything back in place and to my reliefs, the phone worked perfectly. The battery was even,... How do I say this? Misshapen? I had to reshapen? So it could fit in its place. Anyway, everything worked perfectly except the loud speaker was broken. I could use the phone without playing music through loud speaker and never put it in loud speaker mode during conversations. After a few months of this, suddenly the speakers was understandable again. Might not be as good as when I got it brand new but it works now.
Thanks everyone for reading my stupid post up to this point. If you have, you are patient people.

“You will not be punished for your anger, you will be punished by your anger.”
Yep true story.
Ah, no biggie.
It's the nanobots. When selfdiagnostic finds any HW faults it releases these tiny nanobots that then repair broken circuits.
I can sadly confirm that these regenerational properties are null and void if your SGS2 happens to be run over by the number 19 tram in Oslo - I suspect the tram number and city are irrelevant.
I'd have taken a picture, but looking at the mangled mess exacerbated my toothache, so I binned it.
Glad I've got an extra. I shall test this one under the #11 tram.
Samsung will be in contact with you shortly to recover their lost super-secret prototype Galaxy S2000 (aka enslave-humans-phone)...

I know how to take care of a phone, so do most. Accidents happen. I, as well as many others I'm sure, have placed a phone in what we thought was a safe spot, and still had it fall, or someone else accidentally knocks it down. I have a 3 year old. I'd love to see you hand a phone to a small child and have them not drop it. Or have it slide out of a pocket. Thanks for playing.

People aren't nit picking, some people have legitimate claims. It's a phone and believe it or not, accidents do happen.
This is where we've reached, fan boys actually blaming the consumer now for accidentally dropping their phone's, instead of blaming the real culprit.

Who's the genius that would hand a 700$ phone to a 3 year old in the first place?
That would be no accident, it would mean the parent is missing more than a couple of braincells.

our little girl plays learning games on both mine and the lady's phone, along with grandma's tablet. All three of the devices have more than stood up to the task. She's only dropped the tablet once, neither phone yet. Also, not everything is out of reach to the little one. Sometimes I'll set it on the wide arm of the couch to charge while I sit there. If I get up, I'm not going to Unplug it just to get a drink in the next room. At $300+ and listed as a " solid, sturdy, durable etc" product, you expect it to withstand a drop or two. My Droid X has been knocked off counters and such by friends( where it SHOULD be safe), dropped by myself, I've gotten hung up in the charger cord once despite my best effort to keep it out of the way, pulling my phone with it. Hit bumps in a vehicle dumping it from the car holder, as it clicked into place, but didn't actually secure. I've had coolant and other automotive fluids spilled on me, or splash onto my phone etc. I was using the LED light to find small puddles in the basement once, dropped it into the water after tripping over something I didn't see, its worked its way out of my deep side pocket while I ran once, fell onto my foot and got kicked across the ground. I don't keep it there anymore but the pocket was 3" deeper than the phone, should have been secure. Point is, you can't predict everything around you, or control it. Accidents happen regardless unless you move like a turtle, even then it may still happen. So can we lose the stupid and stay on topic please?

I don't keep it there anymore but the pocket was 3" deeper than the phone, should have been secure. Point is, you can't predict everything around you, or control it. Accidents happen regardless unless you move like a turtle, even then it may still happen. So can we lose the stupid and stay on topic please?

Still, it is a 3 year old. Why don't you just get her a cheap tablet of her own to remove your expensive phones out of the equation?
Also, even though the rest was painfully hard to read, (wall of text) I still did and I agree that devices should be build more sturdily when they cost 300+$.
Accidents happen in life, but we can do things to avoid them and minimize the damage.

yes,I tend to rant. Other then that, we don't have the money to spend right now. I'm only upgrading because after flashing back to bone stock with no root, my Droid X is still not getting all its calls, which presents an issue when your trying to get a job lol.

Who's the genius that would hand a 700$ phone to a 3 year old in the first place?
That would be no accident, it would mean the parent is missing more than a couple of braincells.

$2.50 for insurance here each month. That is the solution with backups and next day delivery on a replacement, priceless.

+1.....close the pointless thread! £4 a month for phone insurance! You pay $6-700 for the galaxy s3 which is a highly sought after phone and people are giving it to toddlers, and just breaking it out of their own stupidity! I can't recall a time when I've ever dropped my phone, take better care of your phone or wipe the butter from your fingers!

Bunch of ****ing idiots. Are we all 12? Can't read? Can't stay on topic to save your lives? If you have nothing constructive to add to my thread, please keep your mouth shut. Thanks.
THIS THREAD IS NOT ABOUT INSURANCE OR WHAT TO DO IF YOU BREAK THE DEVICE. I SIMPLY WANTED TO KEEP TRACK OF THE BROKEN DEVICES. Since no one on this forum can seem to read, or comprehend a simple request I think I'll just move back to my other forums. Too many incompetent Retards here.

no it doesn't, it boils down to accidents happen. I was working on gathering insurance information from different companies to post along with parts links etc. There are already several threads about broken devices. Once again proving your a bunch of ****ing idiots. This will be the last thread I post here. Pretty pathetic considering its my first, and not one God damn person could post on topic.
Best part is, you guys keep bumping the thread to the top just to say its pointless. That makes perfect sense.

Well stop making pointless threads then! With people giving advice on how not to break your device.....simple, take better care of it and stop being stupid! What does other peoples broken devices have to do with you? Unless your saying that you personally broke them? This thread is pointless and a constant reminder to those whose devices have broken, a constant reminder of their misfortune! Of their bad luck if you wish!

Who are you helping?? How can you possibly help/teach anyone not to drop their phone?? The price of insurance to the price of a screwed up phone is pittance!

Give the guy a break. If you read the original thread I don't see it as that bad of an idea.

I'm Going To Rectify A Mistake Tomorrow

I got The HTC One and contacted EE to cancel the contract and take the phone back as I changed my mind.
With the phonebeside me in its box, I've just had to have a play with it and now I'm gutted to be sending it back.
It's absolutely stunning, I've never seen or held such a wonderful device.
I'm wondering now as I've been sent a returns bag etc, charge it up and hope EE will let me keep it or send it back and get another one.
So... why are you sending it back?
Um yeah.... Some more details perhaps?
Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk 2
I got the phone but then decided my iPhone 5 would do and i'd send it back. So I cancelled the contract and they've sent me a returns bag.
Inquisitive a while ago, I just decided tol have a play around with it and now wish I hadn't cancelled.
Was wondering if I contacted them could I uncancel or simply send it back and start again.
and your point is?

Your choosing an iPhone over this superb phone, that in itself is ludicrous sorry to be so blunt but seriously cannot see the sense in that.

Keep it otherwise whenever you see someone with a One you'll wish you kept your One.

iPhone is something else. You can't compare these two. No need of pointless hate against it.

Just phone EE again say you changed your mind, you decided to stay with them, they would be more than happy to let you stay. I don't see why there would be any problem. Very likely they would let you keep the phone then just start a new contract, cos technically only until you returned the phone your contract is fully stopped, they may be able to reverse it at this stage.

Thanks a lot for your help, I'll give them a bell. Think i'll put it on charge. :
Haha, this is hilarious. Go on to xda to ask whether you can change your mind about cancelling a contract (or not) with EE?
Call me old fashioned, but I would be asking EE, not XDA. Maybe that's just too much common sense.

So the OP starts a new thread saying he is staying with his iPhone 5.
What exactly is the point of this thread, other than the OP simply trolling HTC forums?

No he started a thread saying he ordered the ONE and then before getting it he changed his mind thinking he would be ok with the iphone 5 so he calls in and has them cancel the new contract and send him a return kit. He then gets the ONE and being a phone junkie like all of us on XDA he HAS to play with and realizes that he loves the ONE and does not want to use his iphone 5 anymore but as he said he already called in to cancel so what does he do??? Which has been answered so next time you wish to bash someone or talk crap maybe sharpen up on your reading comprehension skills.
Don't really think OP is trying to be a troll or anything.. i think he/she is just confused and didn't know how awesome of a phone it was till he/she used it..
Which is what you suppose to do with any new phone, you read up on it, find features you like, buy it, get used to it.. decided should you keep it..
Not order a phone, decide to return it.. then want to use it and realize its a great phone

I agree but I am also a phone nut and have done crazier things in my time. He got caught up in the hype then doubted the hype (who can blame him) and then realized the hype was real. Sounds a little like all of us :silly:

Before that ends in flamewars out of misunderstandings, I close this now. All is discussed I think.
