[Q] Switch to MetroPCS from Verizon - Droid X General

Is there a guide to move me from Verizon to MetroPCS along with MMS, etc?

yea its called flashing and i really dont know the tutorial on it but do a craigslist search on it and people sell the service like theyll do everything open your account and flash your phone to metropcs
but i recommend flashing with boost
metro flashing doesnt seem to give 3g
friend has an evo with metro and speeds are painful to watch
other friend has nexus s on boost and it is amazing
good luck

Cdma workshop is the name of the program. I wasent aware that verizon had compatible phones with metro.

Any Sprint or Verizon phone is compatible with MetroPCS. GSM phones cannot be flashed because they have SIM cards. Therefore T-Mobile and AT&T phones are not compatible.

Questions about flashing to metro pcs or cricket

Hi everyone, I've read up on how to flash to cricket or metro but I'm just wondering which would be better? And I currently have no service with either of them, I got this Droid x off a lady on craigslist just to use as a gaming device but now know it can still be used as a phone!
Do I need an Android metro or cricket phone first? Or can I just pay the money and get a number then follow the steps to flash? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Forgot to add that the esn is bad on vzw. Only paid 60 bucks

Not sure about Metro, but Cricket doesn't care about bad ESN. I never had a Cricket account until I set one up last year for a Droid X I got through Craigslist. You shouldn't need a Cricket phone first.
My phone shows up as "CPE- Smartphone- Android OS" and I'm on the "ADR Smartphone All In $55" plan. Everything works great - voice, txt, data, mms, navigation, etc. I also flashed a Craigslist-acquired Droid 2 for my wife and everything is working for her as well.
If you need help getting your account/phone setup right check with chrisngrod over at http://www.cricketusers.com/forum.php.

Dkranes do you think its possible to get a droid bionic on cricket? Would it be similar to what you did to your phone? I assume you used cdma workshop?

I honestly have no idea, the only phones I've flashed to Cricket are the BlackBerry Pearl, BlackBerry 8830, Droid X and Droid 2. I don't see why it wouldn't work, but as far as how to do it I'm not sure.
Yeah, I used CDMA Workshop and originally I also had to use QPST. But I came across a shortcut the other day. Basically you do all the CDMA Workshop steps of the flash (including nvitems, prl, entering your MIN/MDN, etc), then after reboot do a *228. The *228 step saves you from having to do any of the QPST stuff. Here's a link, but the guy says all he did was put the PRL in with CDMA Workshop. I tried that and it didn't work for me until I did ALL the CDMA Workshop steps of the Cricket flash. To get MMS working you'll still have to setup your APN and go into ##PROGRAM to change the MMS settings. http://www.cricketusers.com/verizon...mms-no-root-needed-55-plan.html#axzz1b4mAUWbu
Hi guys, I have a question, I found a Droid 2 Global with bad esn cricket metro pcs for a very cheap price, the thing is I want to buy it and use it in my country Chile, with GSM networks.
I want to know if i can use the mobile without problems even with the bad esn or I have to reset ESN to make it work with GSM network either?

I know with cdma workshop you can actually change esn. You'll need a donor phone and one that has similar features. Don't ask me how, I've done it once using a guide on a optimus s from sprint to boost.
I was under the impression that cricket took bad esns.

Ya you can flash any verizon or sprint phone to cricket...I am using a droid 2 on cricket right now.

[Q] Lost Phone, Can I use Sprint LG G2 On verizon?

I had a little too much fun on new years eve .. I set my Verizon LG G2 down on a table and apparently either I left it or it was stolen .. I probably left it hahaha..
Now i'm trying to get another one .. I really loved the phone...
I'm scouring eBay ..
I'm in a 2 year contract with verizon ..... but, I wanted to know ... Can I use a Sprint based LG G2 on the verizon network ? Will I still get verizon LTE ?
Same thing with T-mobile versions ? Can I get all the bands and function I did out of my verizon LG G2 ?
Thanks for the heads up guys.
I know that the Verizon one can use Sprint, but I am not sure about the other war around. I think the global one works on Verizon's LTE band, although I am not sure an that either. If you can afford it, get the Verizon model (VS980) off contract. You can check the bands and other specs on phone arena.
The T-Mobile one seems to share frequencies of Verizon's though.
Hope I helped.
Verizon and Sprint are CDMA carriers and run on compatible CDMA frequencies and technologies (1xRTT, EvDO) and both their branded phones can roam on/off each other's network for both voice and data.
Having said that, the fact that they're primarily CDMA carriers means that you cannot just bring a phone onto their respective networks. The ESN/MEID of the phone has to already be in their database for them to activate.
So, taking a Sprint LG G2 and walking into a Verizon store or calling Verizon to activate it will get you a big fat NO, and vice versa.
Is it technically possible? Of course.
Worth the effort/hassle? No.
T-Mobile is a GSM carrier, no CDMA, so that's out of the question, same with AT&T, or any GSM variant of the G2.
Get a Verizon LG G2. Just keep looking carefully and you'll find a good deal.
I got my Sprint LG G2 mint in box for 325, clean ESN, no funny business. Love it to bits.
You can use Sprint LG G2 on Tmobile, takes about 20 minutes

In response to this assessment I have to correct these "facts"
You CAN use Tmobile's network on Sprint LG G2 Variant. See Younggunners forum on Sprint-Tmobile rom.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2639165
I am currently getting 4G speeds at around 14 mb on the down and 4 on the up, very workable.
I can attest that it works; I have also performed the flash on other sprint LG G2 LS980 Variants as well.
I am using Justin's rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2639165&page=11,
It's an awesome stock experience!

I think you missed what he was saying. He was saying that the T-Mobile and ATT variants do not support any CDMA so they will not work at all. The sprint variant supports Verizon CDMA but verizon will not activate a sprint device on their network. In any case the sprint device does not support Verizon LTE bands. Even if Verizon activated a sprint g2 on their network it would be 3G only.

I want to use my T-Mobile LG G2 on AT&T

On January 24th, 2014, I switched from Verizon to T-Mobile mainly for the price. T-Mobile is sending me a reimbursement for the early termination fee that Verizon charged.
T-Mobile service in my area isn't as good as Verizon and AT&T and I want to switch to AT&T and use my LG G2 that I got from T-Mobile.
I am planning to switch very soon after I receive the ETF reimbursement in the mail.
Will there be any problems with using my T-Mobile LG G2 when I change to AT&T? I have seen some specifications and saw some differences between the T-Mobile and AT&T G2's. Will I still be able to get good AT&T service with the T-Mobile version of the G2? I entered the IMEI# on AT&T site and it shows it's compatible, but was just wondering if it is going to have limitations.
I'm wondering if I should just sell my T-Moble LG G2 when I switch to AT&T and just buy a new phone(possibly an AT&T LG G2)
I use my T-Mobile LG g2 without any problems on AT&T. I did the exact same thing you are doing

Thank you for the reply, are you able to get 4G LTE data and get the same voice signal as you would on the AT&T version of the phone? I just don't want to get worse service than I would get if I got the AT&T version of the phone.

Wait did you just say "AT&T and I want to switch to AT&T..."? Lol. How did that convo go? You: "T-Mobile is jank! Why didn't I check coverage before I did this!?" AT&T: "Idk! Come to our network! Its what the cool kids do!" You "I don't know..." AT&T: "Oh come on! Do it! I want you too!" You: "Okay!!" And... scene.

The tmobile G2 is lacking LTE band 5 which AT&T uses. However my understanding is that AT&T had not deployed band 5 in many areas so there should be no issues.
I am considering doing the same.

I used my G2 on att and got LTE. You'll have to input the APN, but a quick Google search will help you find that. You'll have to pay the phone off or it will get blacklisted and you'll have to get T-Mobile to unlock it which shouldn't be hard once you pay it off.

sorry it looks like this message was months ago, but I want to ask what APN you used to get AT&T LTE to work on the D801. I tried various APNs I found from google searches and I was not able to connect. Using the 'phone' APN, 3G HSPA connects and the data works (a bit slow in my opinion, much slower than t-mobile). I changed the APN from 'phone' to 'pta' and it doesn't connect to anything anymore.
Furthermore, I went to the network settings to choose the network manually. The phone sees both T-mobile and AT&T for GSM, WCDMA, and LTE. When I choose AT&T LTE, it says that it cannot register. The WCDMA and automatically connect choices registers properly. I tried this for both APNs 'phone' and 'pta'. I also saw on some websites 'wap.cingular' and another APN I can't recall right now, so I tried those an no luck finding LTE on AT&T.
yes, this phone works on LTE and WCDMA on T-mobile. The phone was advertised as unlocked and it does work with AT&T 3G. The phone should support AT&T LTE on 700mhz, 1700mhz, and 1900mhz. I live in the Boston area, so I should be able to get one of these LTE signals...

LG G2 and MetroPCS

I'm currently with verizon., and they are so expensive! I went to a MetroPCS store who told me that since its a verizon phone that I can have phone and texting service with MetroPCS, but would not have internet or picture messaging. If I flash my Verizon LG G2 to an AT&T stock ROM, would that work? The MetroPCS guy told me their system only works with AT&T or T-Mobile phones. If flashing to an AT&T ROM wouldnt work, do you have any suggestions?
Please...someone help with my question
You'll have service without an issue. Only problem is that the phone will be stuck on edge because it is missing the aws bands required for hspa+ unless you are in a reformed section where you'll pick up hspa+ 21.1 but that's not available for all towers. Flashing a room will not work. Best if you sell the device, cancel your Verizon contract, pay it with the phone money and get a new phone.

Also, wrong section to post the question.

I dunno my Sprint G2 runs perfect on AT&T but I would think a pro could flash you and not lose anything except maybe LTE, maybe Metro/Tmobile spectrum isn't compatible in your area for the internet. Try an AIO store, call some flashers on Craigslist.

[Q] Will my Unlocked Sprint S4 work with a Verizon prepaid SIM?

I have been doing research and searching these forums for a few days now, I'm trying to not be one of those people who ask questions that have been answered. But at this point I'm at the end of the road.
I bought a Sprint Galaxy S4, model SPH-L720.
I unlocked it using this method Sprint Galaxy S IV SPH-L720 SIM Unlock Method
Reverted back to MDC baseband and all that good stuff, just as instructed. It seemed to have went well without a hitch.
My question now is:
I want to buy one of these Verizon 4G Sim Activation Kits from walmart
Is it possible that I can buy one of those, insert the SIM into my unlocked Sprint S4, and have a working phone? I ask because I don't want to drop $50 if it doesn't have a chance of working. The instructions for this say that it will work with a VERIZON S4, but since my SPRINT S4 is unlocked, should that be okay?
I don't know much, but in my reading I found that Sprint and Verizon both use CDMA, not GSM. So I figured I had a better chance of this phone working if I go with Verizon because of this.
I am in the United States.
If you need any other information or screen shots please let me know, thank you for taking the time to help me out!!
EDIT: would it be possible to test it out, if one of my friends has a verizon phone under contract, and I took their SIM and inserted it into my phone?
Try it.
Like the guy above me said. Try it. One way to find out. Personally I don't think it would work. As the whole point of unlocking the sprint Gs4 is to use it on GSM networks. From what I know you have to flash the sprint phone to Verizon. Plus you WONT get LTE on Verizon because the bands are not supported. So you'll only get 3g.

thank you for the info! i'm just learning about all of this, so i don't have a firm grip on everything yet.
in the tutorial i used and linked above, the file I used with Odin was actually titled "S4 Flasher", so I believe I unlocked it and flashed it with this? Again, Im sorry, Ive tried searching and am just looking for verification if Im correct.
I'm not worried about LTE, 3G is fine really. Also, I'm not set on Verizon, I just want my phone to work, doesn't matter what network I'm using. If it would be "safer" or a better bet to get into a GSM prepaid, I will do that instead. I was just under the assumption (incorrectly probably lol) that since sprint is CDMA, that going to another CDMA carrier would be easier.
Cricket, Net10, StraightTalk, and AT&T etc are all available at the store I think if I go GSM
Again thanks for taking the time to help everyone!

I unlocked my sprint GS4 and went to Cricket. And I've been happier than when i was with Sprint (service wise). I have signal in 98% of the places I go to. Which is a HUGE improvement over sprint. And even though this phone only connects to HSPA+ which is capped at 3.5 Mbps its plenty fast for all my daily activities. So I recommend a GSM prepaid.
