[Q] One extra DVP from customer service? - Venue Pro General

So here is my story. I called about three days around 5AM pacific times about my VP which was working funky. I got a replacement phone ordered from the service rep. but when i checked the dispatch status later, I noticed that it was ATT and not Tmo which is my carrier. I called again and told them the story and the service rep ordered tmobile version and told me he was going to cancel the att order. Today, i got both att and T mobile DVP replacement phones in the mail. The question is, is there a way for me to keep the both phones and only send back the funky phone back without being charged for the extra? I doubt there is but cant hurt to ask. =]
Ps. Who out there is using DVP with white backgrounds, light theme, and how is the battery life with it?

NOT pleased with T-Mobile Netherlands

Well,... this is as bad as it can get.
The First thing that went wrong was taking a GPRS account. unlimited GPRS for only 9,50 a month. The T-mobile helpdesk told me that it would be activated within 2 hours. Cause I wanted to be sure that is was activated I started to use GPRS the next day. The next month T-Mobile was billing me 191 euro for GPRS traffic. So something went wrong activating my gprs account. I phoned up t-mobile and they said that the 191 euro's will be paid back to me on the next bill. NOT. the next bill was a standard bill,..nu refund. even worse,..I had to pay 64 euro extra again for GPRS traffic. So it still wasn't activated, and I needed to pay. (191 + 64 = 255 euro), no refund!. So I Phoned them up again,..very upset as I was. And now the GPRS would be activated. and it did,..I received a SMS with my IMEI number explaining that the 9,50 GPRS bundle was activated.
5 weeks ago my MDA Pro got broken, screen defect. Didn't bounced to anything or something,..just got it out of my pocket and the inside of the screen was broken.
I phoned up T-mobile explaining this problem. And the person on the other side of the line said to me that I could go to the T-mobile store to let it repair, or he could sent me a enveloppe for My MDA-Pro to sent to them myself. So I did,..sent it to them myself. I needed to sent it to them including the receipt so they would have a look at it without paying them,..and that the repair itself would be under guarantee. So I sent it to them including the receipt.
While is was sent to them, after several days I phoned them up asking what the status was. They couldn't tell.
Next day (day 6) I phoned them again, still no sign or statud.
Day 7 same,..no update.
Day 8 same,..no update
Day 9 I phoned them up again and there was news. The repair department gave it the status Totall loss,. the device was sent back to me with a bill of 42500,-. This was a mistake they told me, the costs was 42 euro, not 42500,-. I told them that I included the receipt and that charging me 42 euro was not correct. Thay would phone me back again with a status update.
Next day I didn't hear anything, so I phoned them up. I wanted my device back, and repaird! Now they were telling me that I didn't agreed with the costs repairing it, and that the device is sent back to me (without the 42 euro bill). I didn't disagreed with anything, just wanted to got a status update, and my MDA repaired. so after phoning them for 30 minutes they told me they would phone me back after they founded out what went wrong...
The next day I got a phonecall from T-mobile. they appologised to me for all the delay, and the nice lady offered me 20 % discount on the next bill. but no repair can be done,..the device is sent back to my house, INCLUDING the 42 euro bill which I had to pay to the postman in order to receive the device. I got more angry by the second. I explained the whole story AGAIN to them, and asked what to do if the postman came to me and wanted 42 euro. "Well,..."just let it sent back to us, so we can repair the device" @[email protected][email protected]$%@$!#%%^ DAMN (getting angry again while typing this) I explained to them that 20 % discount on the monthly costs of 25 euro, is 5 euro discount. By their mistake several months ago (gprs) was was billed 255 euro! f*cking m*therf*ckers.
So the next day I phoned them up again,.. now I was told that the repair costs would be 700 euro,..and that the repair department assumed that woudn't pay that, so they give my MDA-Pro the status Total loss. BUT: now the department Lost and Stolen will give me a new offer. which will be sent to my home in 3 days. and it did,..the first thing that was right.
I received a new offer,..could get a new MDA-Pro for 139 euro,..but to use that offer I was forced to expand my contract for another year. Cause I had 1,5 year contract left it is now a 2,5 year contract, and still no broken device back, and no new device sent to me.
The next day (weekend passed by) I received my old device,..unrepaired and with no costs. but no new device. The new ordered device would be sended to my home in 2 days,..(this was last week)
Today I phoned t-mobile NL again asking them where my new ordered device is. I told the lady on the other side of the phone I had a VERY bad experience with t-mobile, costing me loads of money. and that I didn't have much converdence they would sent it to me correct. And I was right again....something went wrong ordering the new MDA-Pro for me. The lady told me stat the understands my complain, and offered me 200 free minutes calling....
So,.. T-Mobile SUCKS!
Nightmare of a story, but i know how you feel. I am a UK expat living in Holland and i do not speak Dutch, so i know customer service are crap basiclly, as i had problems with trying to get a Vario in English here (which you CANNOT!). It's like talking to a brick wall Ended getting the Qtek Kjam.
Not sure how long you have had your Vario, but you do get a 2 year warrenty with it through T-mobile so get them to honor it..
As regards web'n'walk internet did you get the sms from T-mobile confirming your T-mobile internet activation?
thanx
Well,..
The Web and walk activation sms I received after phoning them up several times complaining about the bill. They didn't told me that it is activated after receining a sms. Only the last person I got on the phone told me,..

Well, duh. T-mobile Netherlands (which is not really entirely the same entity as T-Mobile UK) simply doesn't *have* any English-language Varios to sell, any more than they have Dutch-language MDA Pros. You can argue until you're blue in the face, but you can't sell what you don't have. The T-Mobile branded ones aren't *just* cheap because they're simlocked.

Agree, this should be a warranty issue. While their own warranty runs (which are not the only warranty rights you have, but are at least easily enforceable), *they*'re the ones who have to prove that the phone dies because of a non-waranty issue in order to not honour it, the customer is assumed to be in the right unless proven otherwise.

The web'n'walk activation thing is a) a nightmare and b) is so utterly unnecessary if they had just organised their tech and billing departments properly that it boggles the mond. Lots of people -- if not most -- go wrong with it.
Dont mean to steal Adonkers post, but to finish of my story, i was told by the T-mobile shop that you could order an English version via customer service and when i phoned up it was confirmed. So i went ahead and ordered it with a 1 year contract. When it came it was in Dutch so i phoned up and they then told me it is only available in Dutch. Anyway it went back and i asked them to cancel my contract so i could order the Qtek or Imate version from another place. Took me 2 months in the end to get the new contract after countless calls to CS because they kept forgetting to cancel the 1st contract.

Basic rule (Not specific to tmobile): Sales don't know ****, and besides, if the customer hassles CS into canceling the sale, they probably still get the commission, and if it's not in writing, it ain't been promised. Friend of mine works CS at Orange NL and gets the same things.
It's like dealing with Army recruiters, really.

Will I ever get my X1 :(

I'm beginning to think I am not destined to get my X1...
I at first ordered it through Vodafone, who kept fobbing me off saying the phone will be dispatched the same day, and then not recieving it the following day, after being told this 3 times, I cancelled the order... didnt fancy my chances with that kinda customer service..
Last Thursday, I called o2 (my current provider) and managed to get a decent deal - £45 contract for £30 a month and £50 for the phone - I was assured the phone was in stock and that I would recieve it at the latest monday (today)
My order status was still pending this afternoon so I emailed o2...
I have now had a response saying it is out of stock... with no "tentative date" for them to have it back in stock...
anyone else having this kinda trouble and is it really worth the wait?
Cheers
Steve
You can try ordering from Expansys (who have it stock last I checked), or, if you have a friend in Hong Kong, have them buy it for you from a "3" (cellular operator) store. They sell the unlocked version for ~6K HKD (which is ~769 USD).

They've got tons in stock at the mo, and you should be able to pick one up directly from a store (although you might want to call ahead to double check).

T-Mobil (UK) stock of HD2

I called last week thursday and they said they will have them on Friday but no luck yet.
Does anyone know when T-Mobil will be getting more of these in stock.
T-mobil n ow have them back instock for upgrades or new contracts if anyone is looking
So have MobilPhonesDirect, mine's shipping for delivery Friday
bump...anyone know what the situation is now with t-mob?
I just called them and they had a delivery today of 30 and have sold out. But some T-mobil stores are getting stock in later today as well.
ITs funy when I first rag them today and went through to direct sales they had them in stock for new connections but when I told them I wanted to upgrade they said we have none in stock for upgrades.
What a joke,
I suspect that's what all the main providers are doing..trying to rope in new punters and stuff the one's they've already got...a bird in the hand etc...if you've got the cash to splash all the sim free outlets seem to have stock at the moment which if you're prepared to get a new number may be the way to go

or if you're due for an upgrade then harrass t-mobile into giving you their super discounted sim-only deal.
You can if you're really persistent get them down to under £9 month including web&walk for a basic pkg.
Obviously that does mean you have to have teh cash to buy a sim free HD2 though.. but over two years it may work out cheaper!
I'm seriously tempted to forget about a contract and go to payg when my contract ends. £10 per month and you get free data.
I think I might have to do that and get a sim only phone and get them to put me on a super low mothly tariff.
I have just checked some stores today via phone and they say that they are getting some stock in today sometime this afternoon.
If I have no luck this afternoon then I will go the Sim free option.
Lets see what happens!
If anyone does find stock in their local T-mobil store in the London Region then please let me know.
Thanks
tmobile do have new stock i ordered online about 7 days ago got an email yesterday saying it was on its way should be with me within 2 days, and its just turned up today.
mine turned up today after 7 days from ordering online (new customer)

Sprint corporate stores lying to existing customers - no evos for you

So I starting calling the corporate sprint stores in my area and I noticed they were all asking if I was an existing (EC) or new customer (NC) before telling me if evo's were available. Turns out they are lying about their evo stock to EC. They will sell you one only if you're a NC
So I called a store, and told them I was a tmobile customer.
"We have 5 in stock so if you come in the next 30 minutes you can get one" .
Then, I told them I wanted to buy the phone outright, full retail, no line activation
sprint rep told me they don't have phones in stock for me.
Immediately I called sprint customer service; they called the store. (10 min after original call). Store now says none are available, and there is a waitlist.
I'm not the only one.
http://androidandme.com/2010/06/car...unning-low-but-could-be-higher-than-we-think/
Try it yourself:
Around Sunnyvale, Ca
5 of 6 stores I called asked if i was an existing customer before answering if they had it in stock. 6 store said none.
2 of 2 stores, told me they had stock, then changed tune when they found out i was an existing customer.
I should have just gone to the store, waited for them to present the phone. then reveal I'm an existing customer. If they try to pull it back, then call sprint customer service.
Sprint may be trying to lure new customers to their network. More money on a new customer than an existing one. Shady but it may be true.
Lol this is so true. My wife and I were on vacation in Florida this week. We decide to go to a sprint store to see if any were available. They ask is this for an existing account or new account. I say new account. Mind you at least 5 people were in front of us asking for evos. Bottom line, when we said we were new customers the manager pulls out 2 evos for us and set up our account. Needless to say we got very strange looks at us and probably some middle fingers behind our backs as well. Feeling sorry for the existing customers.
Remember a corporate store does not get paid on the new or upgrade like a third party agent would. So I do not see the incentive outside of perhaps signing new customers. But then again I would hope they want to keep the old ones as well
Sorry to hear that you are having these issues.
A letter to Mr. Hesse would be good to report this [email protected] - don't expect a nice reply from him though It's automated. Email [email protected]
he will like it - no really he would.
No surprise really since they work off commission..

This happened to me.
I'm an existing Sprint customer. I entered into a 2 year contract in December and got an HTC Hero.
I visited a Sprint corporate store in Culver City, California on launch day at 10:00am. I took my lunch break early (hour lunch). I signed in with the person at the front kiosk and it took 45 minutes before a sales person seen me. I told him I had a Hero, am not eligible for an upgrade, and would like to purchase an Evo outright a full price, and have my account moved over to it. He said he couldn't do this and he could only sell the Evo to customers who were eligible for an upgrade or if I wanted to add a new line. I was pissed and was going to be late coming back from lunch, so I left.
On the way back t work I called Sprint customer service from my phone. I explained what happened and the customer service rep said the store should have been able to sale me the phone at full price as long as I had the phone activate in the store, which I was going to, because I was going to have my account moved over. The customer service rep said she'd call the store to find out what happened on my behalf. I asked her if she could have the store hold a phone for me because they'd probably be sold out by the time I got off of work. She said she couldn't do this because the phone was in high demand.
Later at work I got a voice mail from the customer service rep I talked to earlier. She called the Sprint corporate store that wouldn't sell me the phone and talked to the manager. The manager agreed to hold a phone for me until I got off work for the inconvience.
After work I visited the Sprint store. The manager directed me to the person earlier who wouldn't sell me the phone earlier. The first thing the sales rep told me when I sat down was that they were instructed not to sale the phones to existing customers unless they were eligible for an upgrade or adding a new line. I think it's the store managers instructing their employees to do this to make their numbers look better or something.
Glad I didn't buy off sprint. I got a hero back in December too but got my evo from ebay. $520 and came with an extra 2gig sd. And since it's a google IO evo it has a month for free with full data. Now I have two sweet android phones! :3
Somewhat related: Add the $292 (total) speeding/changing lanes without indicators/not keeping distance tickets I got trying to get to the post office before it closed. Good thing the radar got me doing 90 and not the 155 before I hit the breaks!

I'd say, all in all, you paid way too much for your phone (including your tickets) But at least you have two phones now. (sarcasm if you didn't get that)
And 155mph to get to the post office? Get real. If true, you're damn lucky you didn't kill someone. Idiot.
They aren't lying. Their telling you the truth, you just failed to ask more question. They only have stock for new lines... if someone wants it without adding a new line, they'll order it and have it sent to the store overnight. I had my company rep order it for me and I got it Monday, $502 shipped.

I HIGHLY concur with this statement... fool.
This is not new. T-Mobile was doing the exact same thing when the HTC HD2 ca me out...mainly due to the low supply.
T mobile was doing the same with the HD2
Reps in stores get more commission off building a brand new accounts and new activations. It's like this on all carriers.

nope. they are lying. if you read the thread its not sprints policy to separate stocks for existing and new customers. they rater get more commission buy refusing to sell to me rather than another customer. they refuse by telling me they have none when they do. Of course, sprint structures their commission in away as to encourage this behavor.
guess i got lucky
I was depositing a check at an ATM and saw a Sprint store a couple shops down so I decided to go in and see if they had any. After telling the girl behind the counter that I was an existing customer and wanted to buy it outright she told me they had a waiting list going but that they had received a shipment Wednesday that they had not checked yet. She took my number and said she'd call me after they sorted through it. I went across the shopping center to have lunch and when I was finished eating my phone rang. The Sprint rep had pulled one for me. I ended up getting my phone for nothing out of pocket. She suggested to add a 3rd line to get the phone at the new activation cost, waived the activation fee and billed the cost of the phone to my account which wont post until NEXT month. Sorry to hear about the troubles you guys are having...
I got one from the online store...ordered yesterday at around 10am and it's "out for delivery" from UPS right now. Just in case you haven't checked that out.

And you also got an extra phone bill every month for 2 years for a 3rd line.
EDIT:
While telling people only new/upgrade accounts can get the phone is shady and unethical, I have to admit I wouldn't mind being able to restrict it to that at my store. It sucks selling something and making 0 money off it when the next guy would put some $ in your pocket. But alas, I just sell them to whomever. (assuming I have any in stock lol)

radio shack
I have been going to radio shack here in NYC for sprint stuff. No lines, just walk in and grab an EVO. Everyone goes to the sprint stores, but honestly the radio shack guys on 12th and broadway are super nice. They held a pre for me last year and now hooked me up with the EVO on launch. I saw there were lines at the sprint stores, but no prob at the rat shack.

I was investigating where to get mine from on release day. I am a current customer not eligible for an upgrade. I was going to be buying outright. bestbuy wanted 599 for outright, radio shack wanted 499 outright and sprint wanted 450... I talked to someone at a commission based sprint store and he explained that they were not selling outright because the store made no money off of it. I was a little annoyed, but understood why... plus that store only ordered 15 evos. I then went to radio shack. they told me that they had a very large order and that they would be able to sell me one outright... The day of the release, I woke up at 6 in the morning and headed over to the radio shack that said they would sell it outright. When I got there, the sales rep that I had talked to before appologized to me and told me the regional owner of all my areas radio shacks had sent out an e-mail telling them not to sell outright.... I felt defeated.... I decided to just wait till later and get it when I could. I was driving around my home town around 3 p.m. and drove by the corporate sprint store and decided, why not. I went in, walked right up to a rep, no lines at all, and asked if they by chance had any evos left and that I wanted to buy it outright. he sat me down, walked into the back and walked out with an evo. he told me that after this one they only had 3 left. He explained to me that corporate stores don't make more or less on upgrades or outrights. To finish up this long story, I ended up getting it for 450 from the corporate store in my area. Not all of the stores were turning away outrights. Next time there is a new phone release, I am going back to that store. If any of you are in St. George, Utah, It is the only corporate store there...

Sasktel Customer Service Issues

Right now my second phone is being repaired and Sasktel isn't offering any type of discounts. They have to ship the phone to Ontario so it's around 4-6 weeks to get the phone back.
I'm wondering is there any other Sasktel customers out there suffering the same problems, or any that got any discounts?
When my Sasktel SGS died, it was back 9 days later. Make sure you call the dealer every few days, though - they like to sit on your phone a good long while before telling you it is ready for pickup.
It has been 3 weeks today since I sent my phone in (Wireless Age @ Market Mall) and have not heard a peep. Was hoping to have it back. Wishful thinking I guess.
All I have been told is that I will be refunded my data plan fees because I have a ****ty LG Rumour. Any other Sasktel stories? I wonder if my phone will be replaced or repaired...

I wish my dealer had been that nice... they outright refused to do anything at all.(Wireless etc. Costco Regina) They wouldn't send it in, exchange it, and they said even if they would take it as a warranty they do not give loaner phones. (phone purchased september 4)
I ended up taking it to the SaskTel Store in the Cornwall Regina, they sent it in, gave me a brand new gravity 3 as a loaner, and credited back the data plan.
I although I didn't get any credit like bell customers are getting, overall I can't really complain, seeing as without SaskTel taking the phone back I would have been SOL
