I've been using my HD2 on a 2year contract in the UK using an unlocked phone from the Carphone warehouse, on Orange network...
I cant upgrade until March but just this week my usb charger port is dead...Carphone warehouse took the phone to fix under warranty, but deemed the damage to be outside of the warranty. I didn't have insurance taken out on the phone,so...
I purchased a battery charger to keep me going until March when I can upgrade.
The dilemma I have is that I want to install the latest ROM, as somehow the software was downgraded recently when I had to hard reset. Im happy with the current ROM except that it has the problem of the keypad not working during a casll, making it impossible to listen to voicemail, or use speakerphone etc. I remember this happeniong before, but it fixed during an update from the HTC site.
Is it possible to install new ROMS using sd card? and can someone direct me to a download for the official stock htc ROM for my device.

Got this resolved with a tweak of BsB Tweaks, all is working as I like it now.

the new WM6 came out and i upgraded to the official one off HTC and downgraded my SPL today in hopes of returning my phone to get a warranty because i have the white screen problem.
i want to ask for you help in making sure i dont get charged 500$ if i don't pass warranty
i had upgraded to 2.10oilpro hard spl
and tried many different versions of windows.
i think i have it back to factory and ready to warranty, could you guys make sure im good to go before i send it in?

Doesn't look like you should have a problem. I don't know what they say about the official WM6 upgrade. I have only returned with the original WM5 on there. Otherwise, things look good. The only thing you might want to check is what IPL/SPL versions came in the WM6 upgrade. Those look like the WM5 ROM versions. Maybe they didn't change. I REALLY doubt they would notice, but if you are the cautious type, may be worth checking out.

simply reflash your device with the original WM5 and you're ready to go!
BTW: the official WM5 from AT&T has SPL 1.09!
but if i have already upgraded to 6 then i thought i couldent go back to 5,
thats why i waited untill the offical 6 came out so that i could load an allowed upgrade to avoid any problems

Sure you can! Simply grab the WM5 ROM for the AT&T 8525 (not from the forum!!! - use the one from the HTC site, if you can't find it go to the AT&T wireless homepage and click your way through) and reflash it! It will work just fine, I do it all the time on my 8525 to see if applications I wrote will run on booth OS properly!
well i checked out the HTC sight again , it specifically said you cannot go back to wm5 after upgrading to 6... im sure there is a way, but if the upgrade is through HTC officialy i don't think it voids the warranty..
i did re-install the official WM6 though to make sure the SPL was up to date..
now the SPL is 2.03 and the IPL is 1.04..
so i should be good to go! (i hope!... don't want to be charged 500$ when i only paid 99$ to begin with)

i have from today htc hd2 on contract from o2,and after reading about this phone i was find out i have all old softwares,i was trying update on htc web site but this link dont like me after when i was writing my serial number.
At the moment i have OS.Vers:5.2.21864(21864.5.0.81), Manila vers: 2.5.19202525.0 and my ROM Version is !!! : 1.43.206.4 (70315)WWE ,well to be honest with you guys im not sure what to do with that?i was upgrade from that popular iphone3gs,they don't do it this for the users buuuu

what version were you trying to upgrade to?
If you only just got it today, try it for a bit first, i got an o2 one two weeks ago, no problems at all. Dont go rushing to update if you dont have to till you need to.
The O2 HD2 also have a branded ROM, so you wont be able to download from HTC unless O2 permit. Even if you get a hold of the ROM it will still fail unless you HSPL (or other method).
As samsamuel said. I've also not had the problems that others have written about. That's probably the reason O2 haven't issued an upgrade.

at present you cant upgrade unless you hack the phone using hspl or wait for an offical rom from o2
Had my HD2 about 10 days now and its on o2. Just wanted to ask the more experienced members about my version numbers.
Here they are:
ROM Version: 1.43.206.4 (70315) WWE
Radio Version: 2.04.50.22_2
I was wondering how up to date they were and whether I would benefit from updating the ROM?
A Bit Of History: My phone prior to this was the Omnia i900. I tried to flash the ROM on that with the help and advice of some users from the MoDaCo forum. Basically I screwed up, and the phone had to be sent to a Samsung Repair Centre. I was without it for 2 whole weeks! I felt like topping myself!!
While I would be very hesitant to attempt to flash again, it is something I have to consider over the medium to long term just for the sake of keeping the phone up to date.
rom 1.43 is about as out of date as a 6 month phone can be. problem is that o2 still haven't released an update. (current official updates are 1.66 and/or 1.72 for some other countries/carriers.)
personally I've been using cooked roms based on version 2.10 and radio 2.08 for weeks....... light years ahead off the o2 stock rom.

I'm still inside my 14 day return period. Would you recommend returning the phone? Would an unlocked phone be better rather than one locked to o2? If so, I'm more than willing to do this. Or is it possible to unlock this phone yourself?
I notice on the HTC support page there is a UK 1.48 ROM update. Would anyone recommend this?

So to a question which may or may not have been asked before, So apologise in advance if it has.
I have just purchased the HD2 from a trading newspaper in my area. I collected the phone from the guys home and it all looks fine and is fully operational (touch wood ) What worried me slightly was although the device looks like brand new (obviously well looked after)...But it came just the phone and a fake non htc charger...No Box or cables/manuals etc...
I am pretty much noob to everything to do with Flasing/Modding devices but wondered if there is a way of determining if the model i have got has already been modded.
The phone starts up with the 02 screen but it is unlocked and accepts my UK Orange sim. Just not sure if it has been infact flashed with any roms.

ROM and radio look stock to me. Since it's an 02 phone (I'm assuming UK) however you won't be able to update to the newest ROM yet unless you goldcard like I did recently, as 02 have not released their version of the 3.14 ROM still.

Ye am in UK. The goldcard is something i had heard as an option but admit id have to research into that some more...I did manage one time to flash a rom onto an orange San Fran device but for the life of me cant remember how Am sure tho that few beers and many shots helped (Not reccomended in hindsight)
So if it seems to be Stock 02 by following instructions here im guessing i should be ok to use an android rom on the SD?
I dont knowif this makes a difference but it sort of helps to know that its an unmodded device im starting with, wot with not knowing the phones history and what if anything has already been done

I've been waiting ages for the T-Mobile UK ROM upgrade for the HD2 but nothing has appeared on the HTC downloads page as yet, even though Vodaphone, Orange and the generic one seems to be available. I get the feeling that T-Mobile won't be releasing the update
Anyway, I've been looking thru the stickies on XDA-Dev and found a ROM update for branded T-Mobile called RUU_Leo_TMO_UK_3.14.110.1 which I am now downloading
Is this an unofficial update? Or maybe a pre-release from T-Mobile?
More importantly, is this safe to install? My specs are:

I've been hanging around confused on the XDA-Dev forums on and off for the last 6 months or so. I'm pretty apprehensive about installing anything ROM-based for fear of bricking my lovely HD2. I don't wanna get a new one as I'm not even halfway thru my 24-month contract!
Anyway, hope you can help. I hate sounding like such noob. I fix PCs for a living, but this is doing my head in!!
The RUU_Leo_TMO_UK_3.14.110.1 is a leaked UK T-Mobile stock ROM.
Don't worry, this rom will not brake your device, I have uploaded these rom sins 2011-01-06 and in the meanwhile it was bean downloaded 293 times without anyone mentioned that thy have a problem.
