The LGP500 struggles to play Angry Birds at times. I doubt it run Metro apps, let alone be worthwhile to use for regular Windows apps (imagine clicking on icons, or menus?)

That said, it'd be a fun, geeky experiment to see what kind of minimal ARM hardware that Win8 could be made to run on. Perhaps with some kind of HDMI output + bluetooth peripherals.

Not fully as far as I've seen.
I've been playing around with HTML5 in windows 8 developers preview. Youtube does have a complete version of itself that is HTML5; so there is movement to that format.
this is not a big deal as adobe air has the same capabilities that flash has except it will be in a more application type manner.

Yes there are browsers on Android that do support HTML5 completely. well as completely as any other browser does, seeing as HTML5 is incomplete still. Not to mention that adobe isnt just going to pull Flash out from under us.

Changing Device model for market

So I heard that you could change your device's "model" by messing around with the build prop.
I was wondering if I could change the model to a tegra 2 supported phone so I could download tegra zone from the market directly. Instead trying to pirate it and such

Yes I heard you could set the ro.pruduct.name to Nexus S and to.product.model to Samsung to make more apps available on the market. I was wondering you could the same thing except change it into a tegra 2 device for tegra zone and Android market to see your device as a supported one

I would say you should try it.
Take a look at a tegra device build.prop.. Simply google for a build prop and change the lines to a tegra device.
You don't need to change the build.prop for playing a game if u use chainfire but if you need to download a game. You probably need to change

Ubuntu is on its way

I have read an article in flipboard stating that ubuntu will release nexus and nexus 4 os.. yeah.. I guess developers will make this work on our note 2

But would love later on to have it on my Note2 with the vig screen..

Source code is out and the porting guide will be out tomorrow. https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Touch/Porting
It's based on the AOSP android Kernel and drivers. So porting it for the Note should be pretty easy. They went with the same approach as Firefox did. I might even give this a try myself.
For anyone else that will attempting this port or that of Firefox os , build against Cyanogen source and not the Samsung one.
It is actually based on Cyanogen mod and not AOSP.

Especially with the dock! It will be a laptop on its own!
If its supposed to be a converged OS, I don't know that it necessarily makes sense to have subcategories for phone and tablet. The forum should probably just be called Ubuntu, with subcategories Ubuntu OS and Ubuntu for Android. It might even make sense to separate it by OS version numbers, since 13.04 is supposed to be the converged touch friendly version of the OS. I guess though it really depends on what the moderators think people will be talking about. App developement, porting, configuring, customizing, driver hacking, etc.
The tablet interface looks like its going to be good, I wonder if it will be available for older Tablet PCs (x86).

(XPRT) Who's up for some development? :D

Alright. Well I know everyone around here has been eager for a REAL custom ROM for the XPRT. I'm gonna start working on CyanogenMod 10 or 10.1 or whatever. But heres my background. I'm an 18 year old high school student on my senior year with not so good grades at the moment in math and economics. I don't exactly go to the best school, I'm unemployed, and I live in a group home. So I don't exactly have lots of time and resources on my hands. Enough about me. What I'm really here for is to ask for a team of people. Whether you want to be a future developer, you like computers, you like potatoes, whatever. I need some people to collaborate with me. I've included some links below along with prerequisites. Respond to the post or PM if interested.

Get to know Ubuntu. I personally suggest 12.04. Ubuntu is Linux. Android is Linux. The more you learn in Ubuntu is quite useful in every other Linux powered device in the world. And trust me. There's more and more of them every day. I hope you find Linux just as amazing as I do!

yes, you got to learn your way around, but it is as easy and frustrating as using a mac when youre used to windows...just be patient, you´ll get the things done, but in a different way
,So blackfire, so how is that custom kernel uploaded? I remember when I used to own the def+, the only way to upgrade the kernel was modding the GB one to get some features working (battery and hw acceleration) on CM10.
Oh yeah, the Ubuntu for phones OS looks cool. I was hoping someone here might be interested in porting it once it becomes good enough to use as a daily driver.

I'm not too sure. As I've said, I can't work on this myself yet still. But from what I know, using the stock kernel as a base you can rebuild using things like linaro and whatnot. Kernel development is no easy task.
