Ubuntu On Tablets... - Ubuntu Touch General

Front page in about 21 hours. Thoughts?
http://www.ubuntu.com

I would flash it on my HP Touchpad

Maybe they got the ui in a release state and will release a image for the nexus 7.

There is a rumor going around that this may be related:
http://www.htc.com/us/
But some people are thinking its unrelated, that HTC is announcing a phone and not a tablet.

Now this Forums needs to be renamed. Ubuntu for Mobile Devices.

Awesome cant wait....on internet there are rumors about the reveiling of htc...maybe a htc tablet with ubuntu. Time of reveiling is exact the same of the time on the countdown clock.....well see.....

I sure hope so, at least I hope some one can port it to the tf300t. I have a nexus 7 as well but would much rather have this running on my tf300t.

Especially with the dock! It will be a laptop on its own!

If its supposed to be a converged OS, I don't know that it necessarily makes sense to have subcategories for phone and tablet. The forum should probably just be called Ubuntu, with subcategories Ubuntu OS and Ubuntu for Android. It might even make sense to separate it by OS version numbers, since 13.04 is supposed to be the converged touch friendly version of the OS. I guess though it really depends on what the moderators think people will be talking about. App developement, porting, configuring, customizing, driver hacking, etc.
The tablet interface looks like its going to be good, I wonder if it will be available for older Tablet PCs (x86).

Good bye Kindle Fire.

Hey guys. Ahh the Kindle Fire. My first android tablet and obviously not my last it did me so good but now I'm gonna have to give it to my dad I just bought myself a nexus 7. I have to admit you guys made that old piece of s*** amazon firmware into something I never thought could work. you made that kindle into something that I never thought it could be but still I have to admit the nexus 7 is just so much better and I'll probably still be here but I'm gonna be over the nexus seven forums more. If you are truly paranoid...you would not be on this board. I love my KF...and Android....and Google. Does @pple offer anything open source? You have to sign up for EVERYTHING nowadays, so how does one omit themselves from the data collection? Get off everything and live off the grid. I'd rather mull around and see what trouble I can cause, and devices I can root. I'm getting the N7 too...but my KF still has years of use in my household. All I have to do is leave it in plain sight, and people gravitate like monkies to bananers.

Uhhh.... Apple tracking fiasco? Are you talking about the one where Google circumvented Safari's privacy settings and was subsequently fined 4 million for?
Google is doing some scary stuff if u want to look at the privacy settings for Chrome extensions made by Google. I completely understand the viewpoint of wanting nothing to do with Google. I no longer use Gmail or Google Docs for this reason.
I'm willing to take some privacy risks because Android is better than iOS.

It has been proven, "facetious" and "satire" don't work on public forums.
Forums only activate the lowest 10 percent of available brain cells.
Only thing lower would be Yahoo news report reader comments.

The Question is Do you need Root Today.\?
You do not have to ask permission to root or not..With this being a nexus and knowing you made backups(well even if you did not) you can very easily go back to Stock or near stock.
I think google is going to skip the 42 update . They are may be afraid someone will have a heart attack caused by over excitment for the push of the file.. They will delay it to a less enthusiastic time...

Ubuntu OS

Just saw an article from CNET stating that Ubuntu is creating their own smartphones. I haven't had a chance of reading the article yet posted here:
http://www.cnet.com/8301-17918_1-57561644-85/ubuntu-os-smartphones-tapped-for-late-2013/?ttag=fbwp
What are the ideas on this and if it will be usable on our android smartphones. I'm just going to assume that most of the settings will be generally the same. The screenshots alone look enticing enough.

Not necessarily. The article did state that it would be possible to run Ubuntu OS on entry level phones (low tier devices) Though, I'm not sure how true that is until I see it with my own eyes. Nevertheless, it would be pretty cool to see it running on most Android devices flawlessly; Possibly even the OG EVO.
