The good is that you paid about half (hopefully less) for the TP than you would a ipad. The battery is good and it's a pleasure to surf the internet on it. THe screen is really good from all angles. The speakers are the best from any tablet out there. overclock to 15ghz and it's a very smooth and intuitive OS. You get 50GB of free cloud storage when you donload the box app, once you sign up it works on your computer phone etc. Hulu works on it after a simple tweak. It runs ubuntu and android gingerbread.
The bad is that there are no apps, so after surfing the net there's nothing else to do. And the few apps they make are all paid. All the games made for this thing are some adventure crap, by the way search IPK on google to get free apps. It's heavy compared to the ipad2 and tab 10.1. No one knows where webos is going.
go to http://www.touchpadplus.com/ for a simple guide to overclock your touchpad, it's a must and safe.
Hit the thanks if I helped out.

Thanx a lot that's all I was asking for really helped I just got it today I have a feeling imma be up all night again thank you

Splashtop, all I can say is, "get it", best app. It's like using your and accessing all your pc stuff on the go.

I'm a pre day one supporter. That said webOS on tp- is buggy. W/o patches to fix volume n multitouchit would be horrid. I just put android cm7 version 3.5 on tp it still has webOS on it dual boot...so the problem isn't the hardware its the software....cuz multitouch is awesome with cm7. N so on.

Well, this HP TouchPad spot gathers some nice tips, such as "How to speed up HP TouchPad", "Top apps for HP TouchPad" you could turn to it.

Asus Padfone announced

http://www.crunchgear.com/2011/05/3...nounces-its-android-tabletphone-combo-videos/
My observations: The videos are conflicting. The first shows the status bar with purple indicators, then with blue indicators. The second video then shows it with the Gingerbread status bar. It also shows that when in tablet, its Honeycomb. However, the web browser they show is Internet Explorer!
Thoughts?

I like the idea. Guess we'll see how well it's executed. This is the type of thing I'm waiting for before I jump into the tablet market. I'd rather not have both a separate tablet and phone. Give me one device that can double as both depending on the situation (tablet at home, phone on the go).

Don't forget, google announced at the IO this year that they're introducing hardware development support. I expect keyboards and mice to be one of the first things you'll see.

Another topic that should be moved to the a general discussion forum.
What would be even better would be to combine this PadPhone with their Asus Transformer (the tablet that turns into a laptop with the addition of the keyboard). Then you would have a triple combo: phone, tablet, and laptop all in one device.

I'm excited about this. I own an Asus Transformer and an Asus laptop. Both are high quality and so far, the support for the TF is good. They began releasing 3.1 today. After my update experiences on the Epic, I am very impressed.
Timely updates (granted no cell technology or carrier to deal with) and quality products could put Asus in position to be a major player in the Android market.

I think if it can be done properly the phone/tablet dock is a great way to go. I don't need a big screen to lug on the go but would love to plop my phone in a dock at home for some extra screen real estate.

Look at the first replay here!
Not available in 3.0.1 so far on all tablets.
It's very irritating, as it stops me leaving reviews (I would like to review many apps, but I won't go to the effort of finding them on the browser).
Guess I'll have to keep my comments to myself until the feature is added, but frankly, I can't believe it wasn't added in the first place.
I don't think it's in 3.1 either, actually.

Same Issue in 3.1 ...
Many apps don't scale the text right and those tiny lists would surely get app ratings down which would be unfair to the devs.

Well not really; if their app doesn't run well on Honeycomb, I think it's fair for Honeycomb users to give it an honest rating. Emphasis on honest, of course... no flippin' "one-star until feature X/ until Y fixed"...
Unless I've misunderstood what you were saying!
Having said that though, if an app doesn't run well in Honeycomb for me, I much prefer to contact the dev directly (at least that feature exists in Honeycomb's market) and get an answer as to what's up. The devs are only too happy to answer questions, usually, and you can get feedback to them directly, giving them a chance to work on it without just leaving a review.
Agreed. I'd very much like to rate the good apps that are well designed for tablets as well...
Thank you all for your help.

Looks great. But running that in background of a actual useful app.say a game even browsing the net is the question. Looks CPU graphic intense.
It does look pretty cool, but I agree with Erica. I'd be afraid that it would be too much of a resource hog and bog down my tablet. Be nice to show off to the friends so they can witness the awesomeness of my Acer, but I probably wouldn't want it for everyday use.
I don't think it would consume enough resources and lag the device.....as far as spb goes...even at the release of the current version of spb..(which iss now available in the market)..it was thought to slow down any device...but it didn't....

I don't know... something about it is, kinda.. off... I can't put my finger on it. I mean it certainly has the eye-candy... but is it forsaking eye-candy for functionality? *shrug*
We have to look past the silky smooth actions here - everything looks great when you hand keyframe the animations just nice and perfect. It's still in concept so I have to reserve judgment until there is something more along the lines of an alpha/beta. Looking forward to seeing where this goes.
I hope it they release the app soon.....they launched the concept video in early march.....the launcher was for honeycomb....they better launch before android 4.0.....

I have this for the Evo, look for it market: SPB Launcher 3D. It is great. Add more screens, and the integration with all the Widgets make it a smooth transition from any other launcher.
As for CPU usage. I found that it ran better then my HTC: S with animated wallpaper.
I am really waiting on this to be released for the tablet. As my a500 could really use more screens and the customization features of this launcher.
i am using the SPB shell on my galaxy s i9000 slighlty overclocked 1.1Ghz. it works very well, does not slow down anything.
it is really great to use.
Spb launcher for tabs is out......

Ya. Clearly.
I bought it for my Charge, didn't work well. Market wouldn't show it for the A500, so I downloaded a bootleg apk just to see if it worked. Basically said this is an incompatible device and closes. I still want to see what it can do on the tab, since it's far more powerful than my phone.

First things to do with new zoom.

Hello guys and gals. I'm excited to get my zoom in the mail tomorrow from verizon. So I'm reading up on these forums to understand where everyone is at. I'm asking if any one would would he willing to give a quick check list of first things I should do when I get it. Then I can do some research based on your feed back and get it all set up. Thanks.

Download flash player from the market , then set your browser to on demand in the settings. Get feedly for your google reader or pulse, but I prefer feedly as it's much snapier. Download plume for tablet and friend caster for tablets.

Do the catch recovery before reboot method which is really simple and easy. You get root and recovery at the same time.

Play with your xoom for a while then this. I would install the tiamat rom but I don't want to wipe my xoom.
I've decided to skip roms and tiamat or whatever. Looking at threads some are WiFi version only. Then some are different firmware version. I just want stock Verizon with whatever current version its at instructions. It's just to big of a mess for me to spend time digging through literally hundreds of posts researching on what should be closed threads restarted with fresh instructions. Not 4 month old threads. I'll just root adb, use setcpu, and wait for 3.2 uupdate. Then ill join in since ill know where other people are starting from.
It really is a mess. With my Droid x it was simple. A few ways to gain root and all the Roms nicely laid out ripe for the picking. Instruction clearly labled if you have firmware xxx do this, xxy do this. No wonder people are afraid to root. I am, now.
Sent from my PG86100 using XDA Premium App
Ok I can't quit that easy. Looked at xoomforums. I think my whole problem was forum layout. Viewing this forum on their premium app jumbled everything together. Seeing everything laid out rom, kernels, ect, much easier. I'll go with launchpad 1.3 then try tiamat. At least I don't feel lost. As long I'm not browsing through their app.

probably the easiest way for someone to do this would be to manipulate the xda app/tapatalk app so it just opens to the bible thread.
with that said, youre offering a lot of money for something that is already very easy. just favorite the bible thread in one of these apps, or put a bookmark on your homescreen for instant access.

I don't really think that it's the app's fault. After all, they draw from the same database that a computer browser would - only it gets displayed for mobile viewing pleasure. I could be wrong, but I think it's just how fast your data connection speed is on your phone, and whether or not you're using wifi or regular signal.
While it wouldn't take a lot of work to probably make a little somethin' somethin' to have the bible displayed a certain way, you'll still probably run into the same issue as data flows from the same sources.
